Food, service and atmosphere was all amazing. I would highly recommend.
We live in Fulton and went to Oneida to a Estate sale, then wanted to grab some lunch after and stumbled across this place! This is my 63rd trip around the sun and I ordered the Texas Burger and that was, without a doubt the BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD! Extremely friendly and courteous staff! We will definitely drive the 50 miles ago to eat at this establishment AGAIN !-!-!
A gem in Wampsville. If I need to go to the DMV, I drive an extra 15 minutes to Madison. Best DMV in the area and the Bistro is one of my favorite places to eat within a 50 mile radius. On the last trip, the DMV let me down. But the Bistro didn't. The only good news is that I have to go back to the DMV. And that's good news because I will get to eat at the Bistro again. On our last visit, we enjoyed the baked haddock and a perfectly cooked, albeit a tad too salty, steak. Oh, and the seafood chowder! It was amazing.
In Verona for a tournament and by day three we were desperate for something non-processed, non-fried, and tasty. Looked up 'restaurants near me' and Madison Bistro came up with a great rating and great reviews. No one lied. We ordered a halibut sandwch special, with mac and cheese, brisket sandwich and fries, and a side Caesar. The brisket sandwich was really good - tender and tasty, and while the Caesar was a bit non-traditional (tomatoes and red onion), it was tasty and fresh. The mac and cheese was really good - super cheesy-filled shells that were the perfect comfort food on a dreary, rainy afternoon. And the halibut? So delicious! Fresh, moist, crisp coating but tender inside. The bread tasted home-made (I admit to not eating all of the bread because I wanted to be sure I could finish the fish) and, like everything we ate, was fresh. The serving sizes were huge - even peolle who would normally easily clear their plate would definitely be stuffed. The price was beyond reasonable, especially for the quality of the food we received. Our waitress was great - friendly, informative, attentive without being intrusive. Overall it was a great experience. If we're ever back nearby, we will definitely stop in again.
This place was so wonderful! Our waitress was so pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere was welcoming and calm. Their burgers are perfect! They have a cheap gluten free burger buns that don't taste like dirt! We would recommend this place to everyone!
UPDATE: 8/29/25 We came back for a late lunch on our anniversary and it did not disappoint. The seafood chowder rivals some of the best chowders we’ve had in Cape Cod. Rich, hearty and delicious. Our server said the bowl was big and no lie! That would be a meal in itself. My husband had the Elvis Burger and I had the Brisket. My brisket was very tender, no knife needed. The meat was flavorful and the BBQ paired well with the well seasoned brisket. The fries here are awesome and they are the one place in Central New York that actually knows how to make good coleslaw. No room for dessert and there is no need for dinner now! We’re full! Another great experience, well worth the drive and the price paid. Definitely one of the many gems in Madison County! Nice atmosphere and the weather was beautiful, so we sat outside. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious … I ordered the Texas Burger with fries and my husband had the Cowboy Burger. Both burgers cooked to order and the fries were great too. Very glad we made the drive out to try it.
First time coming to the Bistro. My husband was in the hospital and was craving a fish fry. Some of the nurses recommended this place. We were not disappointed. The fish was extremely fresh. The fries were huge fresh cut fries and the coleslaw and cornbread were delicious. We will definitely be back. Oh, and the employees were very friendly.
This place had amazing food! I had the Reuben with a side salad- it was delicious! One friend had the eggplant wrap, which she loved. Another friend commented that her veggie burger was the best she’d ever had! The chicken fingers and Mac ‘n cheese also got a thumbs up. Finally, another friend had the “Elvis burger” (we all helped him eat the yummy fried onions on top!). All this with a round of cold beers 😋🤤
Madison Bistro – Fresh, Friendly, and Full of Flavor Madison Bistro is a charming farm-to-table spot that delivers on freshness, flavor, and service. Our visit started with a zucchini gazpacho (cold soup) that was light, refreshing, and full of taste, an excellent way to open the meal. The salad, while simple, was generously portioned and exceptionally fresh, which is exactly what you hope for from a place focused on local ingredients. Service was outstanding. Our group of five was seated quickly, and everything from drinks to entrées arrived without delay. The staff was genuinely friendly and in great spirits, which says a lot about how well this place is run. I ordered the strip steak, which comes with a salad and a side for $29. The portion was moderate, but the quality more than made up for it. Cooked to absolute perfection, the steak was rich with flavor, likely thanks to a rosemary butter basting that elevated every bite. I also sampled the mac and cheese, served in a soft shell, comforting and creamy, though it could have used just a pinch more salt (an easy fix). The zucchini side, sliced and sautéed in olive oil, was fresh and delicate, though also a touch under-seasoned. Overall, Madison Bistro offers a relaxed dining experience with high-quality, farm-fresh food and excellent service. It’s the kind of small restaurant that leaves you feeling satisfied and well taken care of. Definitely worth a visit, especially since it’s only about 10 minutes from Turning Stone Casino.
I’ve been here many times, including last night with 2 out of town family members who were road weary after a long day in the car on a 90 degree day (and a dog.) We got there a little after 7 (they close at 8) and sat outside. We were talking and weren’t ready to order for probably 15 mins. They were incredibly kind, brought out water with lemon for all of us including the dog, and gave her a bone. I ordered the brisket melt and fries, and my family ordered the brisket plate and grilled chicken wrap. The food came out quickly and it was delicious. It was the perfect atmosphere for talking and catching up. We finished our food but stayed at the table talking until 9pm (I realize this is annoying and I apologize), however they were gracious and probably realized we hadn’t seen each other for a long time. They filled a container of ice for my family member and gave us ice water to go. Cannot say enough good things about this place.
What a great dinner we had! I had the steak, and my friend had the chicken pot pie. Salad was fresh and interesting, and both main dishes were mouth-watering and cooked to perfection. Our waitress was friendly and so accommodating, and the service was super-fast. It's always a treat to find truly fresh food in a rural setting. Highly recommend. :-)
What a great find ! Quiet casual atmosphere, with great food. The menu has lots of home cooking favorites to choose from. The burgers are amazing looking and based on what I saw, they are very popular. Almost every table had someone enjoying one in their group. They guy next to me had one version of their burger that arrived and was 9" high on his plate and when he was done I asked how it was, he said "amazing " I had the pot roast and that was a treat. Huge chunks of super tender beef in a rich gravy with carrots etc. piled high over a creamy mashed potato. Really a well made dish. My friend had a burger, she said was delicious. ⚠️ When you walk in the desert display is filled with lots of very tempting choices. They are just as good as they look. The chocolate chip cookies are so good. Our waitress was so friendly and quick. Everything about this place works and we will seek it out again. I want a burger next time! Ps had a side of Mac and cheese that knocked my socks off. If you like a casual American fare, with home style flavors you will not be disappointed going here. Not a big place maybe 10 or 12 tables. Some tables outside also. Parking was easy,
What a gem! Was heading from Rome to Syracuse for a show, and made a plan to stop by for an early dinner...glad we did! This place has won awards for their burgers, and I can taste why... I had the Cowboy Burger - bacon, onion/bacon jam, and potato strings - voted a top ten burger in 2022...let me tell you, this was incredible! The beef was fresh and cooked perfectly, the onion bacon jam was slightly sweet and smoky, and the slices of bacon were, well, bacon...good with everything! But truthfully the addition of the potato strings put it over the top. These crispy, super thin fried potatoes gave the burger such an amazing texture contrast...just amazing! My wife had the JJ Burger, which is Mac n cheese on the burger...I tasted the Mac, and it was rich and creamy - definitely homemade. The French fries were also homemade...they did not come out of a bag frozen and dropped in the oil. These are not fast food fries..but they are the perfect middle ground of crisp and potato-ey. Lastly, I will say it's a pricier burger, but it's excellent quality food, and a lot of it. I have no issue with the price whatsoever for food of this quality...worth it for sure. It's a smaller place, and I can picture it packed for lunch with the municipal building complex that surrounds the area. It was clean and humble, and it's clear they know what they are doing. The waitress was efficient and nice...brought me a refill before I asked...very attentive. In short, great food...I wish I lived closer...but we'll be back for sure!
We enjoyed our meal once we figured out where to park. Because the restaurant put several planters in the parking spots in front of the restaurant and some patrons were seated on the small sidewalk outside, it was a little puzzling as to where to park. Once inside, the atmosphere was warm and friendly with eclectic wall art. My hubs had a salad, my son enjoyed mac & cheese and a chicken sandwich. I had a reuben sandwich with homemade chips, which were very very crispy. I've had better, less soggy sandwiches but this was tasty. Afterward, we were all so full that we couldn't even look at the front case full of desserts.
I enjoy my visit to Madison Bistro. It is a pretty neat local place with "regulars" - I could tell by the way the staff bantered and cared for some of the customers. It felt like I visited my local diner in lancaster PA. I had the Gavel, a sliced hot beef sandwich with there homemade chips. It was very good. My waitress was good, however it seemed like a long time between brining my food and coming back to see it I needed anything - I wanted a side of their special sauce to add to my sandwich. Overall I enjoyed my visit and I would go back in a heart beat.
Amazing service, the waitress was so welcoming, so kind. This is a must try place, I was a little nervous on the prices but you get amazing quality food, and a big portion. Everything tasted fresh. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, service and food. The Elvis burger, the Texas burger and the JJ burger with homemade Mac and cheese ( to die for )
Everyone I talk to raves about MB. We've been twice now and I'm not experiencing the wow. We diner in, so maybe that's a difference. Food is fresh, my chowder was lukewarm, price is a little high, but we usually leave with leftovers. Mostly because I want to take it home and heat it up. Service is great. Atmosphere is pleasant. I like that the menu isn't exhaustive. That means they can really excel in what they do have. I just haven't been that impressed. However, I have yet to eat a pastry there that I don't enjoy. They're large, expensive, and good.
Has potential. Nice idea, from local sources, but small refinements will boost it from middle-of-the-road. For example: Slice the beef evenly for sandwhiches. Texture really matters. Homemade thick-sliced chips are challenging: if too thick and fried moments too long turn them brown and hard. Same for the really thick fries. Recommend offering both with blue cheese melted on top, or serve with sauce. The horseradish mayonnaise could be great, but also had very little horseradish zing. Service seemed slow for a Saturday afternoon. Continue to build-out the decor and lighting. Swap out tables and chairs eventually for farm-feel. Fun: We noticed the gargantuan-size utensils on the wall which reminded some people of Sims. Good start, keep going! Especially considering the lakeside places close in the offseason and don't even bother to update their listings, give you a leg up for hungry visitors. : )
