An excellent place in Virginia Beach for authentic Venezuelan food. The arepas and cachapas are delicious, and the tequeños are always hot and crispy. Great service and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!
I ordered on Uber Eats and this arepa is by far the best I’ve ever had. I moved recently from Florida where I had plenty of great arepas but this one is the best. The meat was incredible, plantains perfectly cooked, everything perfect. The arepa de pabellon paired with the garlic sauce will not disappoint.
Glad to see this place is still in business. It was delicious when they first opened and they’ve only honed their craft since. We had the cod fish and beef & cheese empanadas to start. They were pretty decently sized with more filling than breading and a perfect golden brown exterior. We each had the grilled arepas: one pabellon and one llanera. This was the perfect amount of flavor, portion, and satisfaction. Will be coming back many times in the future.
Always looked like a fun place when I drove by and finally went a few weeks ago with friends for dinner. It was amazing. Our waitress, Brenda, was incredibly kind and helpful. She talked us through the menu and made great recommendations. We all ended up getting the grilled arepa llanera- a delicious combo of avocado, steak and cheese with a sauce. We also tried different sides- I had the tequenos which were sooo good. For beverages - they had a great happy hour and we got $7 blackberry sangria that was a perfect addition. I think we all enjoyed it. But I will say our overall favorite was their green garlic sauce. They need to bottle it- its that good! Also- almost EVERYTHING was gluten free! Overall it was a great experience. Will definitely go again!
The service and the food here is amazing! I dined here with a friend and we had a great experience. Our server was very polite, attentive, and brought our food out in a timely manner. I ordered the Arepas Catira with yuca fries and my friend ordered the cachapas queso de mano and an empanada. Everything tasted great and I had no issues or complaints! The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive as well. I look forward to dining here again and I'd recommend it to anyone!
Pal Carajo Arepa absolutely delivered an incredible experience! Every bite felt like a flavor-packed journey straight to Latin America. The Arepa was a showstopper—crispy outside, soft inside, stuffed generously with shredded chicken, creamy avocado, and cheese. It was fresh, hearty, and super satisfying. The cachapa was another highlight. Sweet corn pancake folded and loaded with cheese and cream, paired perfectly with juicy, seasoned chunks of beef. Squeeze that lime on top, and you’re golden. The tostones were crisped just right—not too greasy—and served as the perfect crunchy side. And the Colombiana soda? That sweet, nostalgic hit was the cherry on top. Staff was friendly, and the vibe inside was warm and inviting. Whether you’re familiar with Venezuelan/Colombian food or trying it for the first time, this place is worth every bite. Highly recommend. Pal Carajo definitely earned a spot on my go-to list.
The ground beef empanada was on point! It had a nice golden crisp on the outside with moist meat & melted cheese on the inside. It was so good, I ordered another one along with 2 glasses of sangria as well (forgot to take a picture). Our waitress Mayra provided first class service with a smile. I definitely recommend it.
Extremely good! Great experience and awesome food. The place has a nice atmosphere but feels small. Food is fresh and delicious. Prices are good not cheap not expensive. You can eat with 20 bucks I had an arepa sampler, 5 arepas with different fillings. The other was a cachapa pabellón with shredded beef beans plantains and cheese. I’ll definitely come back…
We had a great time, the food was delicious, and the waitress was on top of everything. We did call ahead for a small group but we also needed wheelchair accessibility, so it was nice they had downstairs seating because most of the seating is upstairs. The only thing I dislike about music in restaurants is it's always too loud, if the music was lower so we didn't have to yell to hear each other it would make it perfect. Recommend trying it for yourself.
Adorable spot with delicious food. The areppas are about the size of a regular burger and are PACKED with the meats of your choosing. I went with the area pernil, which is the braised pork shoulder. The coconut flan was superb, and I tried all three of their sauces with the yucca fries, which were also delicious The service is super friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. Drink prices are not bad at all either. Will absolutely come here again. The food here is also very gluten free friendly as well, from a conversation we overheard between our server and our adjoining table. Their son has ciliacs disease and he was able to choose from a variety of their menu with little concern.
If i could give them 100 5 star reviews I would! Such fantastic food! If I had the ability to eat here every day I would! SO SO SO GOOD!!! Service is awesome! Everyone is so nice and willing to answer any questions you have about the menu! Also I am a hot sauce feen and let me tell you first question I asked about there homemade habanero sauce was “ Do you bottle this?” and the answer was YES!!!! Eat it with almost everything at home!! Recommend 500x!!
Ate that this restaurant last night for my birthday weekend. It was over 5 years since I had a Arepa and when we were driving by and saw the restaurant, I knew I had to try it. I was absolutely not let down. As a vegetarian, i found the options to be sufficient. I had the veggie Arepa fried and it was soooo good. I definitely recommend this place for the vibe and food. Our server was extremely engaging and we felt welcomed by him. Enjoyed seeing someone care about their product and work hard to do their best. 10/10 place and look forward to bringing my friends here.
Food: 5 stars! The chicken and New York steak are so flavorful. The sides of black beans and white rice are also flavored for excellent taste. The plantains are equally as good. Service: The personnel there have smiles, but they could work on some fine tuning of service skills. Atmosphere: Depending on what time you go, the music can be a little too loud. Bar television is always playing Latin music. The decor is nice and inviting. Seating is quite limited, so csll ahead during busy times. I've been in Little Creek/ Norfolk area for 2 weeks now and have been here 3 times! This is my new "Go-To" spot here when I visit.
Pal Carajo is the best Venezuelan restaurant in the 757 and I visit it at least once a month and it hits the mark every time. My favorite is the Arepa Llanera. It’s so delicious and perfect. However, today I felt incredibly disappointed when my arepa llanera came out with a “slice” of avocado that was insignificant, I mean, it was so tiny that it was a joke. I have had this Arepa dozens of times and and it always comes with a regular size slice of avocado and at least one whole slice of tomato. This time it came with a 1/4 of tomato. When I asked the waitress about it she said “it’s supposed to be like that. It’s only for garnishing”. Attached I’ll put both the photo of how the arepa is advertised on line and the amount of avocado and tomato that came with my arepa today. Also, for an arepa that is worth 17$, I believe two slices of tomato and a full slice of avocado should be included. The arepa is delicious and I hope you all give it a chance but to the management of this restaurant, do better and fix this.
Visited this place as a recommendation from my friend and it was amazing! So good actually that I came back for a second day in a row. We enjoyed our food at the restaurant, it was delicious. We took some food home and found that a piece of hair was inside of our (cheese stick? Unsure of the actual name, I’m sorry!) I’m so disappointed. It was embedded into the cheese itself, so much so we could not even pull it out, so I know it did not come from us somehow. I would love to give this place another shot but after getting a piece of hair stuck in between my teeth, I’m not sure :(
