We always stop here when we are traveling to East Texas. Food is always consistent and a cut above other Tex-Mex food in the area.
This was the cleanest jalapeno tree I’ve ever been to Our waitress was excellent and the food was great
This place is awesome and the food and service are top notch. I just can’t believe they removed the Bo Diddly from the menu. That’s what I’ve been getting for years and I have no idea why it was removed. Luckily there’s lots of other amazing dishes you choose from. I just hope they bring the Bo Diddly back soon.
On Friday, 6/27/2025, we had a large group of 35 people reserved to from 6pm to 8pm. The staff was on point with the chips, salsa, drinks and orders. Our two waitresses, Melanie and Lacy, took care of that large gathering with ease and grace. Always a smile and always checking on us. Thank you ladies, extra servers and managers that made our first night to our reunion fantastic! We will be back next year!
We will be back! 💖 I skipped this place originally because I avoid chain restaurants, but after 2 previous attempts to eat in Canton led us to closed restaurants at noon on a Sunday, I agreed to stop here. We will definitely be back when we are in the Dallas area again! As soon as we walked in the door we were met with that great authentic TexMex aroma. I was delighted to find REAL nachos on the menu instead of the soggy pile-up most places give you. Generous bowls of salsa and guac sauce came with the crisp chips, and they were just right—not so thin as to be flimsy and not so thick and heavy as some. The flavor of the food was delicious and the servings were generous. My husband’s tamale was just right—not overly thick on the masa dough—and had moist, flavorful pork inside. His cheese enchilada was good, too. Our waitress Bryli was the best part of our visit. She was cheerful, friendly, and had great suggestions—including pointing us to the free soft serve ice cream and supplying bowls so we could take it with us. We wish her all the best! I saw reviews dissing the food and noisy atmosphere, and all I can say is I’m glad I didn’t see them and stay away! It’s a casual restaurant that stays super busy so it’s not a peaceful romantic place to eat. 😜 But it’s a very well-managed, friendly restaurant with excellent food!
Our waitress, robyn, was awesome! She was super friendly, relatable, and we just loved her! Especially because she was able to handle my crazy boyfriend who wanted to show off pictures of our baby nephew lol. Thankyou for being so patient and tolerating our crazy 🤪 we will definitely come back and ask for Robyn personally 🥰
I am very disappointed that the Bo Diddly was taken off the menu. That is the only reason I drive 45mins to come to jalapeño tree is for that dish. I will not be back unless it is back on the menu. That is also the reason I gave the food 1 star.
Great place good food made by my coworkers here.. but heads up always crowded. So be prepared for a long wait. Service is awesome with Hannah. Tortillas made by Ms. Nelda (know her personally). Food prepared by my friend Natalia in the kitchen on the line. Try the fried shrimp tacos with fresh mangos. 🥰😉Thank me later. Don't get it twisted either my ex Manager gets down on the floor and in the kitchen (Mrs. Angie). Last but not least my bartender that had them drinks rolling on a busy first Monday weekend. (Forgot her name but I never forget a face) .. You made our strawberry swirls. Rock hunn😉🥰👍 And all you others that I may have ran across while visiting there but forgot to mention you in here. You Rock as well ❤️🩹. Jalapeno 🌴 Tree
Always enjoy Jalapeno Tree. Waitress was great. Food is always good. Tried pulled pork tacos, would repurchase. Chips and salsa - you get a lot!
Great place... and huge!! Our waitress, Lacey, was quick, polite and very friendly. Even took the time to chat for a couple of minutes. The food was great and came out quickly and correctly! The price was very reasonable.
Went there last night at about 6:00 PM. Second time there. Had supper this time, had lunch last time. Normally when I go to a restaurant, service is hit and miss over time. But not here. The service, food and atmosphere were great. Even the host who seated us was so friendly and nice. Our waitress Amy was wonderful. I also had some of the best quesadillas that I've ever had.
Not sure what the negative reviews are all about...I almost didn't go in due to the reviews but I'm glad I went. My food was awesome...maybe those people are used to taco cabana or taco bell food, cause this was good homemade Mexican food. I will definitely stop by again. I had chile's rellenos...check the photo😊
Food was very good. Waitress Destiny was one of the best servers I’ve ever had.
Found this on a trip and wondered what to expect. This is a friendly and colorful chain restaurant along I20 West in Canton. Don’t hesitate to stop in. I got the combo but there’s a wide variety of dishes and excellent salsas including a green tomatillo sauce - the best I’ve ever had. Tasty food and ample servings! You can even choose from a variety of sauces to top your enchiladas and a variety of sides.
The foid was good abd se had exceptional service. Was in tiwn moving our daughter to her new apartment ti be closer to wirk abd needed supper afer ee were dibe.
Went there with the family to celebrate my brother's birthday. I ordered a beef quesadilla and it was delicious! Our server was a nice guy and was nice enough to take a pic of our group when asked.
2-16-26’ ~ adding to the original review roughly 6 months ago ~ My server Ryan is the bomb. Sharp, witty, and great sense of humor he added entertainment to an already fantastic meal. Leah has also very cool, professional and personable. Shout out to Eric one of the managers as well. Again, the fajitas were spot on. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal once again. Whenever I roll through to and from Dallas, I try to stop in. Kyleigh is an excellent server. Attentive, thorough, asking all the right questions. Exemplary people skills. You should ask for her if you decide to dine in here, and you should absolutely decide to dine here because these were among the best beef fajitas I've ever had. They were quite unique. They gave a generous portion of guacamole, sour cream and cheese, and they also put their own little flavor ( no pun intended, literally and figuratively ) on these beef fajitas by providing a sauce with the beef fajitas that consists of butter, garlic powder, onion, and red pepper flakes. A very unique touch for these fajitas. The chips and salsa were among the best I've had. They also have another unique tough by having a guacamole based green sauce with excellent flavor for more variety. Their red salsa was very flavorful as well, and then she brought a hotter salsa for me to mix with the first to amp up the heat, all because I mentioned to my awesome waitress that I like my food extra spicy. I didn't ask. She offered. A nice little above and beyond. I live in Dallas, but when I travel through this area, I will be stopping again. I recommend you do as well. On a sidenote, a previous reviewer stated that the name was not appealing for a Tex-Mex restaurant. Well, let me give you my opinion on it lol. I disagree 100%. I think it's a very cute name, and I ventured to guess that name creates intrigue and can help bring people in. ...
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend. Just driving thru but if I lived close by I'd come again!
Missy was out waiting and she was outstanding! She made sure we had everything we needed. As always the food was delicious!
This Mexican restaurant is a real treasure, boasting a warm ambiance and delicious cuisine paired with excellent service. The complimentary ice cream is the cherry on top of a delightful dining experience. We were absolutely charmed and highly recommend a visit. It's particularly convenient for those heading to Yesterland Farm; consider dining here to make the most of your day instead of eating at the farm. The vegetarian options, though limited, are quite satisfying, and I'm content with the selection. The restaurant's vibrant atmosphere and the quality of the food and service make it a standout choice, especially if you're in the area for a visit to Yesterland Farm.
I just ended up here by chance because Panda express was out of what I wanted. Boy am I ever glad I did. I ordered online to go as I pulled into the parking lot. I parked went in and ordered a small beer at the bar. Quick service with a smile, and my food was out before I could even finish my beer. It's not gourmet Mexican cuisine, but a four items combo with rice and beans and a beer all for less than $20? I have left overs, they also give you a huge box of chips and two kinds of delicious salsa, and the food was good! Think rib-stickin' Mexican food! Definitely will stop at this chain any time I'm in the area!!
Just passing through Canton during a day trip & popped in for dinner. What a gem! Food was outstanding & so was the service. Will certainly be back!
The Jalapeno Tree: A Fiesta of Flavors and Family Pulling up to The Jalapeno Tree, I was immediately impressed by the large, two-story building with ample parking, including big truck spaces and a convenient handicap ramp. The bustling atmosphere hinted at the restaurant's popularity, and stepping inside, I was greeted by a vibrant, festive interior that set a cheerful tone. A friendly host welcomed me and guided me to my table. As a self-proclaimed "Gastrónomo Experto," I was eager to dive into the menu. However, my enthusiasm was dampened when I encountered the artificial butter flavoring called Parkay, notorious for containing unhealthy additives like sodium benzoate, phosphoric acid, and artificial flavoring. It's a surprising choice for a restaurant that prides itself on fresh and healthy ingredients. Despite this hiccup, the visual appeal of the food passing by reignited my excitement. I started with grilled chicken nachos, each chip meticulously topped with tender chicken, Monterey Jack cheese, fresh pico de gallo, and spicy jalapeños. The addition of guacamole and diced peppers elevated the dish, making each bite a burst of flavor. The deep-fried jalapeños were a delightful treat, perfectly salted and crisp, adding a satisfying crunch. Paired with a towering 22-ounce beer, my meal was both hearty and refreshing. The Jalapeno Tree truly lives up to its reputation for "Crazy Good Mexican Food." The emphasis on fresh, made-to-order dishes is evident in every bite. With over 25 years in business, they’ve mastered the art of creating unique, flavorful experiences that keep families coming back for more. While the initial encounter with Parkay was a letdown, the overall dining experience was a vibrant celebration of Mexican cuisine.
This place is so cute and the service was excellent . And the food so yummy the chicken , beef and shrimp nachos were delicious
Our server was Gracie. Excellent service, she stayed on top of our order and drink refills. Food was great 👍
We LOVE this restaurant! It is our "go to" stop when we travel between family in east Texas and Dallas. So convenient - right off of I-20 - and good food and service. The food is really outstanding at this location. The only negative is the wait, especially if it's a Friday night. (The last time we tried to go there WAS a Friday night and the wait was going to be at least an hour! We couldn't wait that long, so had to eat elsewhere) We've tried many different dishes, since we've eaten here so much. I've included pics of some meals. Favorites: Beef Fajitas with that special butter sauce; Shrimp & Veggie Quesadilla, Tortilla Soup, Combo platters, their red AND green salsa/sauce, etc.
A friend and I have been traveling since Wednesday of last week. Tonight we were on our way back home, to drop me off in the Dallas area. She still had a couple of hours to go. We decided to eat here, our first time. I must say, the sign on the outside? It’s crazy good?? It was! It was VERY good! We sat out in the patio, there is a waterfall. Our waitress was kind, funny & quick. If out that way again? I’d definitely stop there again!
Server was great. Manager wasn’t aware what medium steak was supposed to look like. Didn’t want to wait for a second piece of meat cooked wrong. Follow up visit, rough start but the manager Eric turned it into a learning opportunity. When things don’t go well it’s how they get handled that matter.
I must say, my husband and I after a year living here, finally tried this restaurant out. ITS AMAZING!!! It may seem pricey, but you get what you pay for, and you get alot of delicious food! We will be ordering again! Love this restaurant 😍
Everyone there was so friendly and helpful even though it was busy. The wait time wasn’t long at all. Food was amazing and the service was too. We had Jessica as our waitress and she was so sweet and she was the best. Thank you Jessica for being you. Bless you all.
Great Mexican food. The meat was cooked all the way without the after taste or being watery which is the case in so many Mexican restaurants. I ordered Enchilada plate and it came with Tacos too and they were really good. Plenty of meat and tasted really good. Black beans on the side could have been skipped but rice tasted home made and delicious. I ordered white sauce which is somewhat rare to find in most places. We also ordered steak and it was really really good. Tasteful and delicious. They have full bar but I could not settle on a drink. Regular Margarita, Tijuana Tea or Old Fashioned... all were subpar and tasted watered down. My company was real happy with her regular margarita. Since the food was great I will visit this place again and stick to beer for my drinks.... probably cheaper too. Ambience was loud (colorful) and typical Mexican style but with more space and no dirt floor and no carpet.... standard fare. Music was not too loud, (a tremendous blessing to have and hear conversation) and the wait staff was courteous and spoke good English too. Thank you for that. In house fresh tortilla factory and that was a treat. Chips were served hot right as we came in and hot served chips are rare and taste so much better. If only they had warm salsa... that would have been a double treat. They had a robot (pictured) to serve as maitre d but did not see that in operation. Wow. Visit this place pronto and.... bon appetite.
While traveling back home to Atlanta from California, we scheduled a rest stop at the KOA in Canton, TX. While we set up, we Doordashed from this little unheard of gem. Yes, the salsa lacked “spice” but the food was actually pretty incredible. Good sized portions, and the flavor was pretty good. Can’t wait to be back. Even our pets enjoyed the food.
Karoline was absolutely amazing! She greeted us with a smile and gave us recommendations that were spot on and the food was absolutely fantastic. Thanks for a great time.
Everything was great ! The host was great ! The young man Chris who brought the chips and salsa was polite and working hard , making sure things that needed doing were done . I give him 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We went here for lunch and the service was fantastic. Jessica was super friendly and attentive. We had the queso shrimp which was absolutely fantastic and the green sauce was delicious. Will definitely go back.
I've never eaten here before Sunday. However, the waitress was very attentive and the food was good. I gave 4 stars because the butter sauce for my steak was too spicy and or waited asked the manager who said there were no other options. Although, this is a Mexican restaurant, everyone doesn't enjoy spicy. Because it was garlic butter with seasoning, I felt the manager could have offered it without the spice. Overall it was a good experience.
First time ever leaving a review but this place beyond deserved it!!! Our server, Destinee, was the best I’ve ever had she was so patient and helpful and was amazing with my special needs son he LOVED her, she even gave him stickers!!! The food was AMAZING I’d eat here everyday if my husband would let us!! Manager, Erik, was also very kind !! Very very pleased and we will be back soon for more amazing yummy yummy food!!! Also they have a ROBOT that serves tables!!!!!
I visited this location for a weekday lunch. The parking lot was large and there was a crew repainting the numerous jalapeño characters on the side of the building. The entryway was large and open as was the dining area. We were seated quickly and our drink order was taken within moments. We were ready to order when our drinks arrived and both chose the shrimp bowl. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the flavors all came together beautifully. It was delicious. Our waitress took care of us nicely. Great experience.
To start off, the shrimp goes amazing with anything. I usually get the shrimp tacos, but the nachos are also great. I walked in and was immediately greeted and seated, and my server, Lacey, is an absolute sweetheart. She was kind, and quick when it came to giving out my food. The food is great, and the look of the restaurant is amazing, and huge thank you to Tyler for cleaning up tables. Cleanliness is key
We just ate here while driving through from New England to Fort Worth and we were pleasantly surprised how good of an experience we had! Really good food, the waitress (Amy) had no issue with my super picky order, and my toddler's tantrum! As we were about to leave my husband said she was the best waitress we've had in a really long time. Everyone we encountered was very friendly. We'll definitely come here again next time we're driving through!
We came out tonight to enjoy a great night out for some good food and service! It was awesome!!! The food was spot on, the waitress Kolena was wonderful! This place is always so enjoyable 😉 The New manager is also wonderful.. we noticed everyone working and doing a awesome job, including the New manager! This speaks volumes! You guys have something special going on here! Keep up the great work and keep on doing a wonderful job!! We will definitely be back!! Kudos 👏 💐 🥳
Food was amazing and the service was even better. The Dr Pepper was extremely flat with absolutely no carbonation to it. It was disgusting to drink. After telling the waitress she politely told me that the manager said nothing is wrong with the drinks. About 3 other tables while we were eating sent their drinks back as well. The waitress also said it tastes flat to her too but the manager refuses to fix the problem. Obviously the manager needs to get their taste buds examined by a professional. Other than the terrible manager trying to save a penny by selling flat Dr Pepper it was a good experience. But definitely won’t be going back until the Dr Pepper is replaced with something that’s not flat.
Our waitress Laura was incredible start to finish. She made great recommendations. The chips and variety of salsa was wonderful....chips were nice and light with great crunch. The homemade corn and flour tortillas were outstanding. For my lunch was the chicken/steak Fajita combo...they include some delicious hot butter sauce to pur on top of your Fajitas....its a must have part of the dish. Large portions, great service, and nice open atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Food was great as usual. Service was even better. Very nice interaction with our waitress and her trainee. I also observed and heard the same kindness being displayed to other customers by other employees. I spoke with manager Jason to convey my thoughts and he was very professional and kind. Its the little things that stand out sometimes and I saw the little things being demonstrated in a way that's hard to find nowadays. Well done!!
We googled Best fajitas in town to stop at in Canton and it brought us here. I’m so glad that it did because these were some of the best fajitas that I’ve ever tasted. Our bartender was Hannah and she was so helpful, gave the best advice on what to eat and what to drink and great service! Definitely recommend this place five stars!!
First time visitors and we will definitely be returning! Our food was amazing I had the ‘ixtapa’ and my husband got the ‘carne’, our children are VERY picky and they had a great selection for them to choose from. The food was cooked to perfection and came out a lot faster than we expected considering it was kinda busy and I figured our server would’ve gotten backed up! The building was one of the cleanest I’ve been in, even the bathrooms were very nice! Our server, Destiney, was the best server I’ve EVER had, she was running round everywhere very busy but still made it a point to make every customer in her care feel taken care of and kept a positive attitude while doing so, it’s hard to find decent servers who are so attentive and don’t get annoyed at the ‘little’ things but she even laughed off us forgetting we needed another box and cup togo and our children throwing rice at her; and she did this with every table I saw her interact with! At one point she came back with drinks for a table, checks, chips/salsa, and togo items all at once and was just positively doing her thing like it was nothing! She even had stickers for my kids and despite being very busy stuck around for a while to chat with us and make us feel welcome! Our ONE complaint is the ‘free’ ice cream only had chocolate today, no vanilla or swirl but hey; free is free! Parking was crazy good too, it was free and we got front row but they have a HUGE lot! To say we’ll be returning regularly is an understatement!
Me and my family were heading from Dallas back to Atlanta when we stopped at this location to eat dinner. Our experience was genuinely awesome. The chips they brought us to eat were delicious. All the food we ordered was stupendously good. The service was like I am at a five star restaurant. The owner was there that night and was going from table to table, talking to everyone, making sure their food and everything else was right. After dinner even though I left a large tip, they didn't charge me for it. Everybody said good night to us as we were leaving. What an awesome place I wish every restaurant was like this...!
I wish I could give 10 stars all the way across! I never have any complaints about this place and I’ll drive all the way from mineola to get my food here! Love love love this place and I’d like to give a big shout out to the owner who actually takes time out of his busy schedule to contact his customers if there are ever any issues! My family and I were very surprised and pleased with what he did! He knows what’s going on at his places and it shows! Thank you Paul and canton J Tree!
Food was good so was the beer. Short bartender fast wit it. Waitress was melody or Mel....MELANIE how could I forget. Pretty sure that's my reason on goin back!! Flautas good too!! So is the queso!!!! I recommend Melanie and get a couple cups of queso!!!
Destiny was hands down the best server we’ve had at this restaurant and we’ve been coming since it opened 30 years ago. Very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive! Food was the best we’ve ever had from there, cooked to perfection. Very please overall and highly recommend this location and Destiny as your server!
After a long day shopping, our friend recommended this place to eat. At first, I thought it was going to be as every other Tex-Mex place I’ve tried because I’m not a fan of it because it’s not authentic Mexican. Honestly, this shocked me, and the fajita steak was cooked to perfection and was so juicy and tender. I think if I come to Canton again, I’ll eat here.
I can’t say enough good things about the amazing service we received from our waitress Destiny!!! She showed up to the table with a big smile and so helpful! We were in town for the Meet me in the Water baptism and she kept the vibe going that we had from just getting baptized!! She also served us some amazing food! This has to be an awesome place to work for because she seemed to love her job! She was also trying a very nice guy…good luck sir you have a amazing teacher!

We had lunch here today and to start you will get Fresh made chips and two types of sauce. All are Very delicious ! I ordered the Chimichanga and it as absolutely Amazing ! Very tasty and delicious to the last bite ! Our Waiter was David and he also was Outstanding ! You could never have a better waiter ! Overall on a scale from 1-100 I would rate this restaurant in the high 90s all accept for one incident. And that incident is..... One of the Wait staff guys (NOT David) came out of the restroom and sneezed right into his hands. We saw him then go straight to the area where a refrigerator is, he opened it and was getting stuff WITHOUT washing his hands. He was a chubby little short dude but I dont know what his name was. Personally I would have Fired him on the spot ! Other than that one issue, Jalapeno Tree is Absolutely Amazing !!! The food is some of the Best you'll ever find !
We were seated immediately but it took a minute to get service. Our server, Elise, was ok. Her T-shirt was dirty and had holes in it. She took our order then we did not see her again until we were halfway through our dinner. Which would have been ok but we needed drink refills. The food was good! I had the enchiladas and my husband had the soft tacos. The chips and salsa/green dip were yummy!
My husband and I had lunch here when we were in town. We were seated right away. We were given chips, salsa, and some white dip. The chips were really good, salsa was ok, and the white dip I couldn't even taste. I ordered the shrimp bowl and my husband had quesadilla with ground beef. My shrimp bowl was pretty good. I just didn't like the huge chunks of tomatoes in it. Pico would have been great. My husband's quesadilla was good. We probably won't be back because we live 5 hours away.
Reasonably good Tex-Mex food. The plates are plentiful and the chips and dip really good. Especially, a creamy dip with avocado. A fun place to ear.
Good food, surprised as to how much prices increased since I was last there. Prices jumped $8 compared to what it was a short time ago $30+ is kinda ridiculous for one person and as good as it was, I'm questioning if I'll go back even though it was one of my favorite restaurants.
We walked in about 9:30 pm almost closing time. The hostesses had this look like ugh, really 😑. However, our waitress Shyanne was lovely. She was kind and knowledgeable about the menu. We are very particular with food since we consider ourselves foodies. The food was tasty. We were passing through from Louisiana and hadn't had a chance to stop for food. We always pass the place up and we travel through often. The name isn't appealing for Texmex food IMO. Safe to say, we will definitely be back when passing through 🤤
I never post reviews but our server was literally the best! My mom and I both got margaritas and they were very sour. we of course we told the waitress and she took them and tried to get us something else. The manager came over and said he tasted them and they were fine so “what do you want me to do” very nasty attitude. When he walked away our server said she’s been a bartender for years and they definitely didn’t taste right. She was very nice and helpful! Her name was Makayla so ask for her yall!!! Manager sucks.
Great experience! We are just passing through and found The Jalapeño Tree looking to park to go to Panda Express. The Jalapeño Tree blew Panda Express out of the water. I ordered the shrimp bowl. The flavor was the best I've had in a really long time. Little bit spicy but not too bad. My husband had the fajita bowl with beef (plus $2.00) but he said it was the best he has had ever.

Jalapeño Tree is very good, a little on the expensive side, but we think they are good. For my husband and I it usually costs about $50. That is with a bowl of queso.

Good Mexican food. Chain in Texas. Good service at Lunch. Food was hot. Not authentic but good. Salas is good. chips are not cool.
The hostesses had my party wait 20 mins to be seated outside in cold because I had my service dog with me. So, when we were seated I asked why we were being seated there and explained I had a registered service dog. She said I will ask and never came back. Finally our waitress came out and I asked her and she said no come on and seated us inside and informed the 3 hostesses that they were wrong. Our wait on the food was longer than anticipated and then I was not impressed with my food and the $30 ticket for one plate and soda. Our waitress was great however!
Our server, Jessica, was the best. Top 10 for sure The restaurant is nice. And great for the end of the day shopping in Canton. The food will get you fed, but not satisfied if you have a hankering for Mexican food. A shout out to Jessica and Thank-you.
Kept it simple and went with the enchiladas and added a side taco. Wife had the fajitas. The food was OK, i have had much better mexican food but it was serviceable. Service was great. I think the big scene here is the bar and cocktails. Salsa was just OK but the avocado salsa they also serve is horrible. Everyone at the table passed on that.
Our 1st time here. The food was good & the atmosphere is cute. Our server was new & we were very patient with them but I was displeased we waited over 40 mins for a straw. We were almost finished eating when it finally was brought to the table. Overall, it was an okay experience.
We driven by a few times and have wanted to try it. We most likely will never go back. The food was okay, obviously the locals like it, it was busy. Clearly overpriced and customer service was lacking. Our food was confused at our table in the waitress argued with my son. The table next to us was confused as well I heard the manager get brought in for it. Also it was well overpriced.
We've been here twice, both times the food was good, but we waited 10 minutes for a server, and even afterwards the service was slow.
***New Post*** The lower portion is an older review. But i went there tonight and im a bit dissappointed!!! Im changing my review to 3 stars because i am just that unhappy with the sour cream sauce on my rice. Its horrible!!! Bland!!! And taste like warm sour cream, NOT SOUR CREAM SAUCE!!! UGHHHHH!!! Everything else was good i guess. They are a bit pricey but everything is made fresh, nothing from a package or can from this place or atleast thats how it use to be and that prolly partially explains the high prices, but this Sour Cream Sauce is DISGUSTING!!! didnt use to taste like this at all. ***Older Post***We went with a group of 18 special needs clients. They took great care of us. Our waitress was tasked with taking care of us all by herself and she did an outstanding job. We had a good experience and the food was great!!! Thank you to Victor the kitchen manager and our awesome waitress whom i dont remember her name!!! We will certainly be back on our next outing to Canton!!!
It was good enough more like school lunchroom, cafeteria food. But like the higher quality type. Nothing really fancy. Definitely not worth the price, but I could see this being a local town favorite just because everyone can pile up in there and have some fun together as a family. The time frame I came in at was very quiet and empty which I liked. By the time I was done I spent like thirty something dollars.Got one dinner plate, no appetizer, and although it had a lot for thirty dollars. You think you would get more with actual quality that tastes like real food. But again, it was still pretty good for fake food. Also I would say the staff was pretty nice. However, we had an older waitress and she seemed to not be interested in necessarily playing nice with me.And my coworker, who is also a female. She did, however, had no problem joking with the other tables near us. We kind of got offhanded looks, and just bluntly responded to. We were guessing she thought we were gay, and she was just discriminating, the only other option would be because I have pigment in my skin and I was hoping that's not the case. Took a bit of that prediction off how she was telling the other table near us. How they don't make people, how they used and this whole new generation is messed up. Also I don't think I could have paid her to give us a smile. We were super polite the whole time. She literally would not be nice to us past get the order and get her job done. And I can respect that, just lose the attitude. We did, in fact see her smiling with the other tables around us. It was specifically us, so I don't know if it's it's biased for us being outsiders, the assumption we're gay, or even just color of skin, regardless of which way she took that while amusing. My coworker was not very happy to see that result. She's seen too many discriminate against me. When i'm just trying to do life at work. Also, people all too often assume we're gay and discriminated against both of us for that just because we do labor and we're not in any fancy girl clothes at the moment. Not like we're a total dudes, either.
The chile rellino had no taste whatsoever. It was as bland as bland gets . Beans and rice was cold . Service was good . Thats what got it a 3 instead of a 1

We use to love J tree, and we still do but your prices have increased so much that is almost unaffordable. Instead of being something we can enjoy often it is now a special treat. Sad
Just picked up our order. Over $33 for two people. Food was ICE COLD, and had to be nuked to even eat it, even though it was picked up on time, even a couple of minutes earlier. 1/20/26

Slow service, overpriced food. Why is the jalapeño tree in Mineola so much better. So disappointed.

Not all changes are good. Customer for 5+ years. They will not see another dime from me. Go woke, go broke as they say. Will not be back

Good place to get drunk over prized food and raw food ive passed threw here more than several times and ive always wanted to try it never again, i shouldve gone to WHATABURGER cheaper and better food, oh manager at closing time said they can only re cook the food im a truck driver dont have time to wait just ate the rice and shrimp I HIGHLY RECOMEND GOING TO WHATABURGER INSTEAD OF THIS PLACE
Our server Hailey was really nice and very attentive. She made sure we were taken care of and made great drink recommendations. I’m not sure that every item needs a sauce. The habanero pork tamale was great and the chicken flauta was as well. We also had the chicken burrito and cheese enchilada, but they were drowning in a sauce that probably could have been without. They had a sour cream sauce and a tequila cream sauce, both just not great. The salsa is great and the white queso is pretty good too, I just think the amount of sauce needs to be reconsidered. I’m left wondering how the chicken burrito and cheese enchilada might have tasted without the sauces. Overall not a terrible experience but I’m not looking to come back here again, maybe just for the drinks with some chips & salsa.
Extremely disappointed! My wife and I eat at The Jalapeno Tree in Henderson every week and on occasion Carthage and Nacogdoches. This restaurant isn’t up to standards. The beans were so runny they wouldn’t stay on the fork and the rice wasn’t done. Waitress and atmosphere were ok.
Today me and my husband and my two old friends Went and ate at jalapeño tree today and our server was great. She was An amazing sweet girl. The manager that was on duty today walked up to our table while she was talking to another table and set our food down and rudely made a rude comment to our server about how she hasn’t been doing her job. After that when she can out the kitchen we heard him yelling at her saying “your done, and that she had to leave.” And the poor girl was crying her eyes out, while he’s just walking around the restaurant not even worrying about how he just treated this sweet girl. Our server was great. She is a hard worker and she was a very sweet girl. But unfortunately we all decided we will no longer ever be coming back here because how that manger treated that woman. All I can say is do better! You never know what someone is going through!!
Normally the food is pretty good. Tonight was absolutely the worst food and worst service we’ve ever had. The rice was undercooked, the tortillas were super dry. My quesadilla was burnt. My friend’s burrito was awful. Service was the worst. The waitress was counting her tips instead of attending to customers. Most likely will not be back. Horrible!!!!
We ate here first Monday Friday night and wow, this place used to be able to keep up just fine with high volume. Was told by a host there is new general management when we asked to speak to a manager. Probably had a lot to do with it. Some people are not fit for high volume stores. Servers were trying their best. I saw no manager even after requesting one at the host stand. We eventually just left. Very disappointed, we used to come here every first Monday. Probably won’t be back for a while until ‘new general management’ can catch up with its servers/bartenders. Also, no allergy menu. And servers aren’t trained on allergies.
Manager was basically closing the restaurant on us. We asked our server what time they closed and she replied “not until 10, I’m not sure what everyone else is doing” she told us we were more than welcome to stay and tried to help us feel better but ultimately we felt in the way. The manager was standing with a bunch of people in a group and they all kept looking at us so we eventually left. Not sure if that is normal there but was a really odd experience for us. Server also seemed confused but was very sweet, food was great my mother is very picky and they have a lot of options she was able to chose from!
Came for lunch left with nothing… waited 30 minutes to be seated… let’s start with the manager working the host stand while 4 hostesses are just Standing there being told to go buss tables then we get seated there’s 2 other booths and 2 other tables right next to us we ask nicely if we can move to the booth and the hostess says there’s no server in that section literally a minute later she sits someone at that booth and we told the manger who was at the host stand and he just starred at us like a deer in the headlight. This isn’t the first time we’ve had issues at this location but it will be the last. Tyler location only from now on.
Weare usually regulars here…I’ve never been to any establishment where it takes 20+ minutes to get a ranch water. We had already ordered and eaten our entire meal before it was made, I look over and what’s the bartender doing? Chatting it up with her friends and coworkers at the end of the bar! Our waitress was AMAZING but the bartender definitely needs more training or replaced all together. Really considering returning after last nights experience.
