Great place for Hawaiian comfort food. My go to spot when I am in the area. Combination bbq plates are big portions so you can share. Most plates come with a scoop of their macaroni salad which is very good. Good service and food comes in a reasonable amount of time. The Haupia cheesecake they have is very good.
My premiere visit was excellent. Excellent people who served were attentive to our party. I definitely plan to return again for second, third, and more! I was very satisfied with the food, service, and decoration! The portions are generous! I felt so happy eating after Sunday Mass at Saint Philomena. After fasting in the morning, I was ready to eat! Actually, feasting was the goal cause my stomach was empty! There was plenty of parking, too! The "Aloha" atmosphere was "Back Home in Lahaina" The sampler plate appetizer was just right and big enough to share for all 6 of us!
Great place to satisfy your craving for Hawaiian food! Environment is casual and relaxed with beautiful Murals that make it look like you are in Lahaina. The staff are also super cool. A sign of good service is when the waiters know what we order.
Truly one of Carson's hidden gyms! This restaurant sparks nostalgic Hawaiian themed vibes, while offering really good food and live music on most Fridays. My kids favorite part about the restaurant is their bakery section where they like to pick out different treats and cakes, and in all honesty it's my favorite part too! They're coconut cheesecake is my personal fave. Do yourself a favor and check them out! Not expensive at all.
We had them cater my father's memorial service and the food was overall excellent. The kalbi ribs, teriyaki chicken, and pork fried rice were all very excellent. The cabbage & ramen salad was great (don't forget the wontons), The mac salad was very good as well - although I confess I still like L&L's better. The lumpia were good, although I'm used to them being firecracker size. The only miss was the char su choi mein. For whatever reason it didn't hit well with me. All in all though, I thought the food was great. Highly recommend, especially for catering.
1/14/20 Came here for lunch, seeking something unique and not a chain type of restaurant brought me here. Also, it helped reading the yelp and google reviews to make up my indecisiveness. I was greeted instantly upon entering and helped with my decision making. I ended up ordering short braised ribs and wow were they so good! There were sides of rice and salad and both were so tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I would most definitely return here if ever in the area.
Go on Fridays for live music and you'll have a great time! The workers and other guests treat you like family. Food has always been good. The Hawaiian classic (bacon fried rice, eggs, and spam) has become my new favorite!
Very good Hawaiian 🌺 Food, I had the Loco Moco Platter and it was very delicious. Atmosphere gives a mini experience of Hawaii and Great Service!!! God Bless!!! Jesus Loves You!!!
I always come here to get the teriyaki chicken and fried chicken combo plate. One of these days I need to try the desserts. The vibes in here are cool too.
It was our first time there. Everyone was very friendly. The food was really good as well. It seems like an old school family restaurant. Emphasis on family. There were a ton of families there. Don't forget the cheesecake and peanut butter cookies!
My mom and I came here for a quick bite to eat while in LA. The service was amazing, our waitress was very attending and sweet. The food was amazing! The prices were great too! Not to mention the beautiful interior! Would 100% recommend!
The food is fresh and delicious. Great vibe and perfect for small or larger groups. My favorite is the miso salmon.
This place was an accidental fine. We were out here on a hiking trip. And we stumbled upon this place and the food here was amazing. The service was on top of it in the overall scenery was amazing. This was by far one of the best Hawaiian food I've ever had to the point where I am now judging all other Hawaiian food forever now. The next time I'm in the area 100%. I'm coming back to this place. Thank you Madelyn for making our first experience, an amazing one and being so intuitive. Look forward to future visits!
Three words: Lahaina Fried Chicken! I highly recommend it. These fried chicken nuggets are extremely crispy, tasty and moist. The entree includes rice, macaroni salad and ramen cabbage salad. The portions are pretty big and the prices are reasonable. The decor feels like you're back home in Lahaina. You might get lucky and catch a live band!
Very hungry. Craving their macaroni salad.
Awesome place! Food is great. Atmosphere was awesome. I love the way it's decorated. AC needs some help but other than that it was great and I'd go back for sure.
It really has a Lahaina feel! We liked the loco moco with the homemade Portuguese sausage substitution (nice flavorful crisp patty!), the Lahaina fried chicken and the Maui lettuce wraps (chicken is juicy for both), and the haupia cheesecake (!!!). Service is very friendly and accommodating, although you should plan on things coming out on "Hawaii time" - not the speediest, but well worth the wait.
I have been coming to back home in Lahaina for years. The food is always delicious, the staff is always super friendly. 5 stars Everytime.
Delicious Hawaiian food! Simple and comfortable. Cute gift store where I like to buy Hawaiian cookies and treats. As well as the insulated reusable bags with Hawaiian prints.
Went for a Sunday brunch. Food was good and had a great time with my family.
Comfort Hawaiian plates that feel homemade. The kalua pork is juicy and not overly salty. Mac salad is creamy but not heavy. They greet everyone like family. Easy parking in the center
Best local Hawaiian food in California that we've found. Their fried chicken is not found anywhere else. We drove down from northern California for it!
You know you've come to a good place for Hawaiian food when three quarters of the customers are Hawaiian. Been here a few times . Always satisfied. Great food and good, friendly service. Live entertainment Friday and Saturday evenings. I've tried the Kalua pork, loco moco, Lahaina fried chicken, and bbg beef. All very tasty. Entrees come with rice, mac salad, and ramen cabbage salad. Can't wait for the next time we go here.
I took my family here for a nice, great dinner. The fried chicken was so good.
This place is great! A hidden gem, for sure.. The only thing better than their food, is their service!
Love this place! We've had my Grandmas 80th birthday there, had my graduation dinner there. The food is amazing. The staff is amazing. Check the calendars for the days they have a band, its creates a great ambiance. I cant wait until everything opens back up, I will def be back. Pic from Grandma's party last year.
Recently rediscovered Back Home. We had our son's HS graduation party here. Everything was fantastic. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend them for your catering needs. Definitely will be back.
If you want a homey family place that has a sweet, caring, fun vibe and huge portions that don't skimp and are no joke then you have got to check out Back Home in Lahaina and their gorgeous and delicious Hawaiian foods. The saimin noodles are in bowls so big your kids could go swimming in them. I recommend the charsiu pork or charsiu chicken, pink barbecue with cabbage salad, Hawaiian macaroni salad, and rice. Their ahi poke with seaweed sea salt onions comes with fried wonton chips and a spicy horseradish sauce. The bacon fried rice and the Portuguese patties, man. Yum. Recommend, appetizers: spring rolls and similarly deep fried stuffed wontons. Galbi ribs? Loco moco? Fish tacos? They've got it. Neverending refills of fountain drinks like soda and raspberry ice tea. Haupia cheesecake. Don't worry. Be happy.
Been going here since they were in Manhattan beach. The food has been very consistent and has stayed as delicious as before. My favoritesis the Lahaina fried chicken and the loco coconut, can't go wrong with either one.
The food is fantastic and completely affordable. The service is even better. I wish I lived closer after working near it for six years.
If you're looking for some Hawaiian food, this is the place to go. My partner ordered the BBQ Chicken, which was a knock-out. It was like eating pork instead of chicken with a wallop of flavor to it. For an appetizer, we both ordered a spam masubi- and of course it was delicious. For my part, I ordered the Katsu with spam fried rice. The katsu was so yummy, but the spam fried rice was out of this world. Do not skip this place! Everything was delicious- from top to bottom. They also have a Furikake Maui Mix at a cost of 4 dollars; it is a savory and sweet treat that will have you hankering for more. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!
I recently had the Cha Shu Bowl, Cha Shu marinated Pork over White Rice but I usually substitute White Rice for Bacon Fried Rice. Cha Shu was cooked perfectly tender, juicy and full of flavor. Bacon Fried Rice had plenty of Bacon and so delicious. The food here is awesome. Friday's they have a band that plays Hawaiian music and usually patrons come up to hula. I have had the Lahaina Fried Chicken (Tender and Juicy), Bacon Fried Rice, Chinese Chicken Salad, Maui Lettuce Wraps (Marinated Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple). Restaurant is Covid Compliant
We love this restaurant! The food is delicious, the prices are fair (where else can you get a soda for only $2.99 anymore?) and the service is great. Definitely recommend you try it!
Definitely a restaurant that’s loved by everyone. The lau lau was just as delicious as the ones I had in Hawaii. The rice was a bit on the dry side, but overall the food was tasty, reasonably priced, and came in generous portions. The atmosphere felt just like a local Hawaiian spot, and I was especially drawn to the beautiful Hawaiian mural covering the wall! The staff were very friendly and warmly welcomed us even though we arrived close to closing time.
We had a small & intimate birthday celebration of 20 family members. The Manager (Peter) and the staff went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. The food was on point, like it always is. We live in Texas now, and whenever we're in town, we always stop by and pick up a few plates. I highly recommend Back Home In Lahaina. We appreciate the island love and awesome hospitality. Fafetai tele lava.
I’ve been coming here for years! Such a staple in the neighborhood. Every friend I’ve brought here has absolutely loved it! The portions are massive!! The desserts are magical. The atmosphere is very cute. I came for my birthday and ordered my usual fries chicken entree. It never fails. The chicken is perfectly crunchy and seasoned. Their cabbage is salad is definitely a favorite of mine. The raw ramen noodle as the croutons is perfection.
The Lahaina fried chicken is something you need to try in your lifetime. I have no idea how they prepare it but it’s sensational. It has a light sweetness to it but is overall still savory. It’s not greasy at all and has a perfect amount of crunch to it. The ramen cabbage salad is super addictive. Light, refreshing and very crunchy, it compliments the other things on the plate quite well. I always order double cabbage and skip the macaroni salad. Service is always friendly. Place feels like a real locals spot, because it is. I cannot recommend this place enough, everything I’ve had has always been great, and their prices are more than fair.
Came Tue(11/26/24) Been coming for some time, and always Friendly Ohana vibe! The food is made with love, with portions being plenty and like being back on the islands... My fav is the Hawaiian Fried chicken(something not served at nearby other Hawaiian place, and isn't the mainstream chain). The plate comes with macaroni salad that just makes you feel happy🥰 I would highly recommend upgrading/adding char siu pork to the fried rice combination, and if you want to go all in, bacon🙌 Kalua Pork with some Char Siu pork fried rice, to-go item, was heavenly the next day! I ALWAYS make room for the dessert, and the bread pudding doesn't disappoint🙏🥰🙌 Wash it down with some Hawaiian sweet tea and be sure to also take some to go, like a Hawaiian Thanksgiving🤗 Mahalo!
A local friend brought us to this fun Hawaiian restaurant.. Friday night they had live music and it was packed, we made a reservation for Saturday evening.. had a table for 15.. our waiter did a great job for a large group constantly filling our beverages. The food is very authentic, we tried several different things including the spam musbai appetizer which everyone enjoyed.. portions are very large so you can share.. atmosphere is neat and they have a fresh bakery on site as well..
Real authentic Hawaiian food! Located on corner so easy to find(next to a pizza restaurant) I’ve been to Hawaii every year since 2003 and this is the closest I have found to the taste of the islands! Large menu selection! Quick fast service! Employees seemed a little over busy but maybe because they were hosting a private event also; looked like a wedding reception? So we could only get take out! Decor made you feel like you were in Hawaii! Would definitely go back to try more dishes! Good size portions of food! Unsure if they had a parking lot but I did see plenty of street parking nearby! Clean restaurant and even some patio seating! They definitely bring the Aloha spirit to California!
Service is always excellent. Atmosphere very relaxing depending on how busy they are. Food is outstanding, as with all places it's getting to know what is great and what is good. Their fried chicken is fantastic, the bbq kalbi is good, flavor is out of this world but the meat has quite a bit of fat. The breakfast items are yummy. If you haven't been there you gotta gotta go
I can not say enough about the Hawaiian fried chicken!! It was so crispy on the outside, with all the sweet and salty island flavors!! The bbq beef ramen salad was delicious!!! Never had anything like that before! As someone just passing through Carson so glad we ordered from here!!!
A decent place to get catering trays from. The fried rice, char siu, and teri chicken are ok. The fried chicken and fried wontons are very good. However, the spam musubis were a surprise, and not in a good way. The end piece musubis were each only half filled with spam, with the other end being a solid glob of rice. Disappointing for a Hawaiian place!
Hawaiian food for a non-Hawaiian like me is a hit or mostly miss. The catchy name got me here over all the other Hawaiian restaurants in the area. So here’s a take from a non-Hawaiian: the food here is better than the King’s Hawaiian restaurant nearby. The Loco Moco was the best one for me so far, seasoned with caramelized onion in the gravy, otherwise Loco Moco is just too bland, ordinary. Their double burger patties were huge, juicy and didn’t taste like the freezer, another plus. The fried chicken is tender with a light sweet taste. The brisket could be improved with a more tender quality but flavorings were light and acceptable. The only disappointment was the spam musubi, which tasted very ordinary like slapped together from anyone’s home, wrapped with overly chewy nori. Overall, the taste of the foods were pleasing enough to revisit.
I only ordered takeout and did not eat in but the food quality overall was good. Ordered a loco moco: the gravy is on point but the hamburger was a bit on the tough side. Macaroni salad was good. Also appreciated that the spam musubi wasn’t just a small piece but a pretty decent sized, almost like a small roll.
Food was delicious, but it depends on what you order. I ordered a combo plate of Kalbi Short Ribs & Grilled Teriyaki Steak over a hot bed of white rice. This dish depended highly on the teriyaki sauce for flavor. The steak and ribs were juicy, but weren't seasoned prior to them dousing it with a ton of teriyaki sauce. 3/5. The saving grace for me was their Hawaiian tea (sweet tea with a kick of passion fruit) and their ramen with spam. The broth on this alone was 5/5 and when all the flavors meld together of the green onion, fish cake, and spam...my gawhd!!! It definitely brought my spirits up! Service was definitely a 5/5. This place exhibits amazing customer service all the time. When you come here, expect that Hawaii family feel. It isn't a forced action. They are truly genuine people.
Portion sizes are huge. The food is delicious and the service was great. A friend introduced me to this spot and I'm definitely coming back.
The poke was amazing! The Hawaiian Nachos and Chinese chicken salad were bland. The ramen was delicious and the portion was huge. We had a party of 7 and it took almost an hour to seat us on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was friendy but not fast. I will try them again.
There is plenty of parking at this establishment. Walking in, you'll notice how big this place is. There is a separate area for takeout, which includes what seems like a gift shop. I dined in. Was seated promptly. My waitress was hasty. I'm not sure if this place was understaffed for the number of people when I came in? This was especially true as I mentioned it was my first time here. I ordered a sampler that came with two types of egg rolls, wontons, spam filled sushi looking things, beef stix, and lahaina fried chicken. All on this plate was delicious. The other server who served it to me was a young guy who didn't explain what the sauces were which I found funny because only on a game show do I want to play "whats that's sauce." Then I ordered a platter #2 subsituted fried chicken for Kalbi. The macaroni in this had a subtlety to the flavor that I truly enjoyed. All the bits of the macaroni blended perfectly. The cabbage salad was a shining star on a meat plate! The kalbi was tasty, although a bit chewy, and the chicken teriyaki were just barely overcooked, which made it a rubbery tough time to chew. The reason for a 4 star on the food is because the meat had lots and lots of little broken bones. I mean every other bite. I chewed a hard bone that could have shattered weaker teeth.
Were there over the weekend, the service was little slow. Turned out they are understaff and at the same time they were making catering order for a wedding. It didnt bother us, just glad they are still in business in this difficult time. Anyway we ordered combo bbq chicken & beef, comes with rice, chinese ramen salad and macaroni salad. It was good, the meat are nice and still tender. Make sure to check their bakery/gift shop section. They have cookies, banana bread, pastries and even pretty soapbars, also a bag of Kona coffee. I also like the way they put decorations and wall painting to have Hawaiian feel inside. It is recommended and will definitely coming back.
Can’t go wrong with this place. Had the classic combo spam and rice. Portions for a combo can definitely be shared with someone no problem. Parking: street parking and public parking near by inside the building. Inside: really hawaii vibes, music and decor. Outside: they do have some outside tables to eat at. A couple tables under the shade. That’s where I ate and I’m slipping into food coma as we speak. Worth a visit.
Online it says there's live entertainment on Friday's and Saturday's, but when I went last Friday there wasn't. I've heard so much about it that it was really disappointing. The food was pretty good. I got a combo of bbq chicken and chicken katsu. The flavor of the bbq wasn't too my liking, but I loved the chicken katsu. I didn't enjoy the cabbage/slaw, too acidic for my liking. I've never heard potato mac salad and i really enjoy it. I akao order the Hawaiian mimosa and picked orange pineapple as my flavor. It was good, but only the champagne was chilled. The Hawaiian soda was room temp. Not that pleasing. Over all, I will go back to five it a second chance. I had a great time with my friends. The service was great. Fun is what you make it.
Was looking for a new place that serves local style Hawaiian grinds. This place came up menu looked good. Turns out to be a great spot to get that local style fix. Interior has a large painting of front street in Lahaina which is cool because of how many time we have walked there. Food was very good so much to choose from. Luau platter and garlic shrimp plate was great. Could not eat it all. Family style seating easy parking. Short 20 min from downtown L.A. can't wait to go again.
Ordered take out due to the pandemic. Online ordering was super easy and the order was ready when we arrived. The entry way has a Hawaiian feel as you open the door and see all the goodies for sale. We had the spam musubi. It was pretty good. Thought it was going to be more than just one piece though. My boyfriend had the ahi poke. He loved it, it was actually the highlight of his meal. I had chicken katsu. It was chicken katsu, not to greasy, lots of meat but way too much rice. I felt very wasteful not eating it all. My boyfriend had loco moco, the whole reason we decided to have Hawaiian. He said it was okay. The gravy was a tad under seasoned. The patties were a little on the dry side. The egg was cooked nicely especially considering we traveled 20 minutes home and it was still over medium. The rice was cooked great but again too much of it. The mac salad was split. I loved it, he didn't. He said it was too close to potato salad. To me it had just the right amount of mac with mashed potatoes in lieu of runny mayo. We'd love to go back to try a few more things and hopefully next time be able to stay for the experience.
I don’t come here enough, it’s always a delicious meal at Back Home in Lahaina! The menu is extensive and everything is tasty. The decor makes you feel like you’re dining in Hawaii and the live music is great! Service is very good and the staff are full of Aloha. Parking is a bit limited, but you’ll always find parking in the nearby parking structure and street parking.
Some friends and I go out here when we want to enjoy island music and food in a fun atmosphere. Good food, excellent service and the music that night was terrific! My only complaint was that it's very loud in there and hard to hear those in your dining party clearly, and also sometimes hard to hear the music clearly.
My first experience here years ago wasn't that good but I figured to try and give this spot another try. Order loco moco subbed burger patty to Portuguese sausage and kalua pork. Kalua pork was really dry. Good thing the loco moco had a good amount of gravy, so my partner and I shared. Loco Moco was decent. The best part was the sausage itself. For its price, they give out BIG portions. I was intimidated! Id say the food is standard. The kalua pork was really disappointing. The atmosphere is really lovely though!
We tried the loco moco, Lahaina fried chicken and the kids teriyaki with rice ans fries and filipino lumpia. The teriyaki sauce was tasty. Not too sweet, not salty. Their mac/potato salad is amazing. The portions of meat are huge. The fried chicken was tasty, juicy and crispy. The loco moco meat patties were a little on the charred side but still flavorful enough that it didn't overpower the dish but the hubs was not a fan. The french fries were great, i bring that up bc sometimes they're soggy or overly fried but these were perfectly fried and crispy with enough flavor. The service, hospitable. A little slow but the servers were always somewhere they could easily see you if flagged down. I definitely think it's priced well, especially for the portions they serve. I'd definitely go again. Also, food still tasted good reheated.
my wife and went here before during covid. That time there where dividers between the tables and it did not have the ohana feeling. we returned today and it felt like we back on Maui in Lahaina. We shared the sampler plater. My had kalua pork, chicken beef withe rice and mac sald. I had the chicken salad. We shared the famous cheese cake.. Our waitress was very helpful and sure that we are enjoying the food and having a good time.🤙🤙🤙
Whenever I'm in the area, I love to stop and get their delicious Lahaina fried chicken, and either bacon or spam fried rice! Plus, the meal comes with Mac salad and ramen/cabbage salad - which both are delish! Just a side note, for breakfast, be sure to try their Portuguese sausage and eggs with fried rice! Definitely my favorite breakfast! Their Portuguese patties are so tasty! I would suggest that you skip on their chicken katsu. I tried getting something different, and it was a disappointment. The chicken was real dry, the coating was bland, and you don't get any kind of sauce for it. Next time I'll just get a double order of the Lahaina fried chicken.
Waited to be seated but no one showed up so I decided to get takeout, and when I got to the takeout are the service was good and food didn’t take long either. So I got the BBQ chicken and fried chicken plate and it was pretty good, Mac salad was ok and the coleslaw was great not gonna lie. The inside of the restaurant is really nice and they have a huge dessert shelf with a bunch of dry and refrigerated sweets.
okay, disclaimer, I didn't grow up eating here so I have zero sense of attachment. to me it's kind of old school bottom of barrel "hawaiian" food. it's fairly basic and in this day in age, I think food have progressed for the better, including Hawaiian food! I do enjoy their wood work and decor inside but I do wish they would upgrade their style of food to what's more readily available in Hawaii now!
Ordered take out had high expectations for this Hawaiian restaurant as i've been told the food quality & portions were worth paying for. Not today ordered (3) different plates, for almost $20/plate and the small portions of food we received we were not happy, the quality was 5/10 and the portions not worth the price 😔
First impression is everything… Last thing I want is being rushed, especially being it my first time and I really wanted to feel at home like back in the island. I had high expectations but the taste just wasn’t there. The Kalua pork cabbage was pretty good though. the lumpia And fried rice was meh. the chicken tasted alright. Might have to go back to get a four star… but my overall take is average.
Great service and atmosphere. Food need work. The fried chicken was good. The teriyaki beef was really chewy and should have sauce on it because it needs it. The teriyaki chicken was so bad. No flavor and so dry. Mac salad was good and cabbage salad was OK. I would like to go back and try other stuff because I heard good things about this place.
Came here for the first time with my wife. The reviews seemed pretty positive except for one in particular. I believe me Sharlene C. must be kindred spirits. I felt the atmosphere was very lively. There was live hawaiian music. People would get up to dance hula with certain songs. It was very fun to watch and the decor made me feel like I was back home. For all of this I say job well done! Now, to the food..... Pricing wasn't cheap, but it wasn't horrible either. For an appetizer, we ordered the Back Home Sampler. This was actually pretty good for the most part. The spam musubi was good, the grilled beef sticks was tender and tasty. The Lahaina fried chicken was very good. The won ton was good, the Filipino style lumpia was good also. Now, the kalua lumpia? NOPE! No flavor at all. Big time lack of salt and smoke flavor that is essential in kalua pork. The presentation of the sampler looked great, but that's where it stopped. Thankfully, the majority of what was on that platter was good. Now on to our entrees. My wife ordered the platter #1. This consisted of Lahaina Fried Chicken, beef teriyaki, Kalua Pork, rice, Mac salad and cabbage (almost like a slaw). My wife said the chicken was good. The beef teriyaki was bland unless you made sure there was teriyaki sauce on it and as said before, the kalua pork was lacking in flavor. At least the rice was cooked good, the salad was ok and the cabbage was very good. It had a sweetness to it. I ordered the Luau Platter. This consisted of Lau Lau, Kalua pork, lomi lomi salmon, chicken long rice, rice, Mac salad, cabbage and haupia cheesecake. Here's my breakdown. My first bite of my Lau Lau I thought it was gonna be great! It was a taste of just the greens and it was good. Once reaching the pork in the middle, I noticed there was once again no salt. Hahaha COME ON MAAAAN! The Kalua pork? Yup you guessed it, NO SALT! When making kalua pork, if you're not doing it the tradional way in the ground (I'll do mine in a crockpot) you rub the pork with hawaiian salt, few tablespoons of liquid smoke and some water. It's imperative to have a taste of the hawaiian salt and smoke flavor. It's also gotta be juicy. I'm sorry, maybe I've been spoiled over the years. Now my lomi lomi salmon.....guess what? LOL! No salt again. This is another dish where hawaiian salt is crucial. It was also dry. Usually it's very juicy because of the amount of water it sits in ( almost like a broth if you will). My Chicken Long Rice was also lacking. It wasn't terrible, but maybe I'm just used to my dad making it. The long rice here was lacking ginger and the noodles possibly being a little undercooked. The rice and Mac salad was ok. The cabbage I really enjoyed. Now the Haupia Cheescake.....DELICIOUS! All in all, the atmosphere made me happy to be here, but the food needed a lot of help. Maybe they were just out of any kind of salt or something, or the menu was a low sodium night, I don't know. Hahaha. The haupia cheesecake was worth the trip. I've heard the jello cheesecake is amazing also. Maybe we'll just come here for dessert and live music next time. I'm sad because I really wanted it to be good, but it was definitely subpar. P.S. Their bakery / giftshop section was very nice. We also bought some cookies. They have lots of different desserts / pastries to choose from.
Food was okay but the service was horrendous. Wade staff was mostly young women with no concept of service. Had to chase them down several times for issues because they we're not the slightest bit attentive after ordering. They also don't understand how to comply with dietary restrictions. They messed that up. Food was also fatty and sparse. No wonder the place was empty. Will not come here again.
It was alright. I don't like the ambiance as it's too loud. The service was very basic and they expected you to tip. Asked them to switch pork to chicken and they declined. They are running out banana bread, which one of the reasons I came. Their fried chicken is good though.
Nice place. Felt the food was not as good as folks claim.. more like a Dennys..
I do not know if it was the food or the delay in the delivery. Ordered Beef Katso Plate with Char Sri Chicken Fried Rice, Teriyaki Beef Bowl with Char Sri Pork Fried Rice, Maui Lettuce Wraps, Kalua Lumpia, Spam Musubi. It was to be delivered at 5:12 but recieved after 5:43. The most edible parts were the Char Sri Fried Rice, Lumpia and Musubi. Beef was tasteless, macaroni salad was mushy. Would consider trying again if the circumstances arise to see if dine-in is any better.
Food was very poor. Better in the past not sure what happened. Service and staff great 👍 atmosphere was great
Before picking up dinner from here, checked out reviews which majority was all good. Being from Hawaii and now living in Vegas, I had to try it out. They had a lau lau plate, I got chicken long rice and side order of lomi lomi salmon... lau lau was good. Chicken long rice was bleh... seemed as if it wasn't cooked all together but more so ingredients just thrown in together. Lomi salmon had nice sizes of salmon BUT some salmon didn't taste too fresh. Potaoe, Mac salad was good and tasty! Ordered jello and haupia cheesecake, which was very good!! Ordered a musubi, didn't think that was worth $3.50. Receipt doesn't even show how much what cost individually. Didn't think spending $33 was worth all that for take out for one person. Apparently, if ordering take out u need to ask for utensils. Or they said they usually ask u if u want utensils when paying... no one asked me, it's take out, that should be a given. Much to my disappointment, got to my hotel with nothing to eat with 😒 would go here again just for their cheesecake.
Order the Sample Platter and they didnt include the Kalua egg rolls in it, plus i order a side order of mac salad(see picture) and man they give u the salad in a small container yet they charge you alot. Called the restaurant about it and the guy said they cant make any more kalua pork as of that time yet theyre still open. Bad experience and the food quality went downhill.
