November 2025 I’ve visited about six times over the past couple years, and each visit continues to impress. The service is consistently wonderful and attentive, and the staff clearly takes pride in what they do. What really stands out is the value proposition, as the prices reflect quality ingredients and skilled preparation, and they’re more than fair given what arrives at your table. Over multiple visits, I’ve sampled a good portion of the menu, including their burger, salads, flatbreads, prime rib sandwich, and others, and each dish has demonstrated the kitchen’s versatility and commitment to doing things right. On our most recent visit, we tried the fried chicken sandwich, filet mignon cheesesteak, and apple bread pudding for dessert. The fried chicken sandwich delivered that perfect contrast of crispy exterior and juicy meat, while the filet mignon cheesesteak elevated the classic format with tender, high-quality beef that made it clear why this place commands the reputation it does. The apple bread pudding was a fitting finale, very comforting and well-executed. This is the kind of restaurant that rewards repeat visits, and I’m already looking forward to working my way through more of their menu. And the old tavern charm makes it very easy to want to come back again.

Place was very welcoming and solid atmosphere. Great beer and whiskey selection. Great happy hr special with $3 beers which locks you in. Most places don't have this and this was extremely welcoming. Food was really good as well. I will be making more stops here.

This is a beautiful restaurant in Chadsford Pennsylvania. The menu is outstanding. I had the fresh mushroom soup and it was outstanding. Excellent service and a historic feel. Don't pas this place without eating here.

My first time here and the experience was terrific! During the week, they have a menu of 12 items for $12 each. I ordered the parmesan crusted chicken with angel hair pasta, and it was a huge serving! Very tasty and delicious. Our service was awesome, and the tavern is really cute!

I haven't had the chance to stop in here at this road house, but I had to mention them for the awesome British Telephone Booth that they have placed under their sign. This alone makes them a new addition to my short list of "must try" restaurants. We were on our way home from Lancaster and spotted the booth at 2100 or so, and we had already eaten. But we will be back, and I'll be sure to tell you all about their food and service. Cheers.

Friday was the second time we've been to Chadds Ford Tavern for Happy Hour. Like the first time, we were very impressed. We got two dozen of the Buck-A-Shuck oysters and they didn't disappoint. Girlfriend decided we should follow that with a dozen of the Buck-A-Shuck clams, which were excellent. Pretty stuffed, I opted for the Tavern Wedge salad while she got the French Onion Soup. Both were on point. This has become one of our new favorite restaurants. Well worth the 40 minute drive. Our server Leo was both attentive and down to earth. He made our dining experience even more enjoyable. This place rocks! *The one picture is from our first visit. It's of the Crab and Mushroom Bisque, which was superb.

Chadd's Ford Tavern is a charming little place. Its a little challenging to get to and the lot is small (valet parking), but once you're inside everything changes! The food is delicious, the wait staff are helpful and friendly, happy hour specials on the weekends. I've had some excellent cheese steaks over the years, but using filet mignon is TASTY! From drinks to dessert, our party loved everything about our dinner, we will definitely return!

Truly enjoyed dinner here. Amazing menu with varied nice choices. Seafood, steak, potatoes. Great drinks and nice bar. Had dinner at bar. Dining room very nice. Had the chicken dish with mashed potatoes and scallops. Delicious. Cheesecake was so delicious. Dinner, drinks and dessert for each was about $80. Not bad for a nice dinner. Look forward to going again. 💗

I love this restaurant! I would recommend making a reservation because it can get pretty busy! The staff is friendly and the service is great! The crab cakes are awesome! They have an excellent drink selection as well! Complimentary valet parking was available too!

We came here after stopping by the winery around 2pm on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised by all of the food options. We got the wing sampler, short rib fries, and truffle fries to share. All were very good and tasted fresh. I ordered the eggplant parm and thought it was tasty. Not too heavy or greasy. Would definitely come back.

A fantastic lunch experience at a very classy Tavern. Located in beautiful Chadds Ford, PA, this eloquent tavern offers a nice variety of culinary delights from seafood to handheld sandwiches. There is a nice sit down bar that offers cocktails, beer and wine. The service is excellent. Our hostess sat us immediately, and our server, Leo, went above and beyond to make our lunch experience comfortable and inviting. For lunch I stared with a red sangria which was sweet and fruity. For lunch I had one of the taverns classic meals, Jumbo Lump Crab cake. The Crab Cakes were firm, moist and packed full of crab. It was complimented with a sweet, rich and creamy corn risotto and garlic spinach. It was amazing! The atmosphere was relaxing, with light rock music playing in the background and sports playing on TV above the bar. There was also a separate seating area away for the bar perfect for families and large groups. A great place to have a wonderful meal if visiting Chadds Ford PA.

Katelyn was a very nice server and quite attentive toward the group. Also, her coworkers are really helpful. It appears that they have awesome teamwork during their shift. It was picked by Mary Ellen for her bday, a total of 10, so 9 of us pay. Appetizers drinks and desserts were excellent!!

I’m glad to have the chance to post about our comfortable booth and delicious dinner At Chadds Ford Tavern. First, our server, Leo, welcomed us to our first time dining here. He was attentive to our table and gave thoughtful meal recommendations. A lucky find after an afternoon of trekking through the pavilions at Longwood Gardens. My eggplant parm and his fish and chips were very good. The appetizer, tomato/basil pesto flat bread, came out quickly. Crust was just right with crips edges and perfect topping. The decor is true tavern, warm and inviting. Good selection of beers, and ample wine list. This was the perfect spot to warm up on a very cold day. Highly recommend.

The service was great! Another trip out with my food friend who I tend to be out with for hours lol. Our server was wonderful, kind, and never once made us feel rushed while we monopolized one of his table for such a long time 😁 (btw, I always take into account that they can't flip our table when it comes time to the tip). He even handled it great when my friend kept asking him if he was single 😂 The food was amazing, I had oysters my friend had the clams as our starters, great beer on tap, and they made her Cosmo to perfection! For our meals I went with the steak sandwich because I had a hankering for horseradish sauce haha! It was delicious. My friend went with the cheese board and the selection was great, it came with salami, kalamata olives, (sure that's spelt wrong haha!), and great toasted bread that paired with the Beretta perfectly. Hands down will visit again! Sorry, didn't take pictures of our oysters or clams 😔 but trust me, they were delicious!

Start off- sat quickly, served drinks promptly, noise level is great can hear everyone at table. Food came out just as it should, not rushed. Wing sampler- FANTASTIC. Sweet chili was best imho. Bacon wrapped scallops in horseradish cream- lick the plate delicious. Burratta wrapped in prosciutto with pesto and balsamic- glorious. Crab bisque- had to fight my daughter off from trying to eat my whole bowl. Filet Mignon Cheesesteak with tavern fondue. Icing on the cake delicious. Didn’t miss on one thing here. Loved it!

My dad took my brother and I here for “Buck-a-Schuck” night and we were pleasantly surprised. It is a little far out for us, but well worth the trip. We ordered 2 Dozen Blue Pointe oysters as an appetizer and shared. Fresh and tasty. While we did not take advantage of it this time, but shrimp and clams are available as well as part of the deal. Fish and Chips impressed the table, as well as a Wedge Salad with Grilled Chicken and Crab cakes. The outside isn't as impressive as the inside, so don't judge from the parking lot/outdoor views. Ps: they make a mean Bulliet Rye Old Fashioned

Wow! For a Tavern to require reservations it must be something special. We'll, Chadds Ford Tavern delivers "something special" at all levels. Atmosphere, food and service (thanks Betsy) are all top notch. If you're in Chadds Ford, or anywhere within an hour drive go straight to CFT! You will not be disappointed 🙂

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving buffet at Chads Ford Tavern! The food was absolutely delicious with a fantastic variety of options. Everything from the turkey and stuffing to the desserts was top-notch. The service was also impeccable – the staff was friendly, attentive, and ensured we had a pleasant dining experience. Highly recommend!

Been to this place a few times and it’s always a solid choice. Appetizers are usually good and fried chicken is outstanding. Desserts are average. Overall it’s 4.6-4.7.

A wonderful meal. Not super hungry, I had their Brussels sprouts appetizer and it was fantastic! Followed that with their wedge salad and it was perfect. I want sure about the gorgonzola, but it fit really well in the salad. I'll be back to sample more from their menu.

We come to Chadds Ford Tavern pretty often, but the service has never been as good as it was tonight. Shannon was amazing — and honestly, “amazing” barely describes how great she was. From the second we sat down, she was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We kept switching things up — adding this, changing that — and she handled every bit of it like a total pro. Never missed a beat, never made us feel like a hassle, just rolled with it and made everything perfect. You can tell she truly cares about her guests and takes pride in what she does. The food was great as always, but Shannon was the reason the night stood out. We’ll 100% be back because of her.

Great for family dinners. A bit loud and some areas of the restaurant were cold! We had to move tables because of a cold breeze blowing down on us when we were seated. Otherwise food was good.

My better half is taking classes at Longwood Gardens, so we made reservations for dinner. We arrived early, and we were seated immediately. Comfortable booth but alittle dark. Food came quickly and was very tasty. There is only free valet for parking, but when exiting the path is unusual. Overall great experience, we will revisit soon.

Wonderful dining experience! Great service!! Delicious food - the wedge salad, pork chop, and pasta primavera were excellent! Drinks and wine were perfect! Valet guys were very nice. Just over all a delightful experience!!

We were in on December 12th at a 7:45 reservation and were seated promptly, during a very busy Friday night. Our waitress was Kathy; she was personable, efficient, funny... a true professional. So were most of the staff there At our table of 5, 3 of us actually had been professionals in the restaurant business, ourselves; 2 of us longtime bartenders with over 20 yrs on the boards. We both noticed that actual cocktails were being poured, which is something you just don't see that much of anymore. It was kind of cool. This is a "real" restaurant, and I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants good food, good atmosphere and yes, professional service. The prices were reasonable for the portions and the fare that we were being served. We saw several of the tomahawk steaks going by, which looked amazing! This is valet parking only, and they were extremely efficient as well. My only concern would be ease of access from route one...it's a busy stretch of the roadway, and a bit harrowing, depending on time of day. Again, I would recommend this restaurant, a true restaurant. It is a throwback and it's kind of refreshing because you just don't see restaurants like this much anymore. One of the people with us had not been there for fifty years. And said it hadn't changed a bit! Run, don't walk to Chadd's Ford Tavern for a great meal and great service!

10 Stars for our waitress Cathy! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 My first time dining here and I have to say our waitress made our experience awesome! From the moment Cathy greeted us, we knew she would be amazingly attentive and professional! She did not disappoint and was very friendly and accommodating with all of our requests. It was obvious to all of us that she takes pride in her work, truly cares about her guests, and provides an awesome experience! The atmosphere was a bit noisy, but cozy. The restaurant was quite busy when we were dining. Two of us got the Parmesan Crusted chicken which was good, but we won’t be getting it again because it did not excite, but the other two got the roast beef and a filet and thoroughly enjoyed them. If you want a fantastic dining experience, ask to be seated with Cathy. We will be requesting her each time we go!

Good food and good service! Really enjoyed the appetizer sampler and the lobster chowder. The steak was overall okay. It had a faint almost chemical like aftertaste but it was cooked how I ordered it not overdone at all. My husband enjoyed the seafood fra diavolo and said the scallops and shrimp were delicious. Our waiter was attentive but not pushy and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. Definitely will be back to try some of the other dishes.

M

The food here was pretty good. My chicken parm with gnocchi was perfect. But I will say the appetizer was an absolute joke. The bacon wrapped shrimp were like $14 for 3 shrimps… they weren’t terrible but really? Like if a couple gets this you expect us to split a shrimp and a half each? That just made me laugh and go wow that’s cheap. I would come back but now I know not to be surprised on the portion sizes.

We stopped in here for dinner while in town for the weekend. It seems like a popular spot for locals with a menu that is largely pub food and steaks. The bar area is nice with plenty of seats at the bar and some high tops and booths as well. For dinner, we had an order of buffalo wings, the fried chicken sandwich, and the tavern roast beef sandwich. The sandwiches were good, and the wings were cooked well, but the buffalo sauce tasted more like barbecue sauce, a bit too sweet and not hot at all. Overall we had good service and it was a nice atmosphere. Very reliable local spot.

My entire extended family reserved the side room for an event. There were a lot of us, so we had a set menu and a dedicated waiter. My only critique would be to have 2 dedicated staff. Our waiter looked a tad overwhelmed by all of us but that's not his fault. The tavern was clean and the music was unobtrusive. The entrees were MASSIVE portions! I had the chicken parm, my husband and mom had the steak fries, and my dad had the scallops. All were very tasty. Dessert was also very good, but everything felt like it had a mountain of whipped cream.

Food was good. Seated on time even though very busy. Bartender was great, drinks were great. Our server was not very personable. He never introduced himself or engaged with us at all. Did not check on us to see if everything was okay. Food was delicious.

A delightful restaurant that aims to please their patrons. Food is good. Service is attentive ( aimed at making a nice dinner experience for their patrons while also ensuring tables turn for the next patrons waiting for their table), and the atmosphere is historically charming. Valet parking is the only option - couldn't figure out why upon entry, but evident upon leaving- - crazy busy with the need to park cars back to back to ensure all have a parking spot. Valet service is fast, courteous, and good. A delightful restaurant for a nice evening out, especially if you are with a larger party. We were part of a party of 4 tucked into a booth, but there were many larger groups ( 6-8) who were comfortably seated enjoying their time and meals together at tables in the middle of the dining room.

K
K

Reservations required and table for group was prepared when we arrived. Server was very good. The menu offered several gluten free choices which we appreciated and why we chose to come. Filet mignon was tough to chew. Mashed potatoes arrived cold perhaps because we had a group and they wanted all items to come out together. There was not even one walnut on the harvest salad as described on menu and pictured on website. The saltiness of vinaigrette dressing on salad, pretzel topping and sauces for dipping was extreme which made the salad especially almost inedible. Perhaps it was an error in preparation of recipe today. Overall food was average and rather disappointing. No table visit from manager as you might expect from a restaurant of this price range. It was extremely dark and candlelit at midday, nice ambience but difficult for some of party to see. Of all the places we’ve eaten this one failed to be memorable or one to revisit. There are better places to eat in the area.

S
S Nad

Food is good, but beware of the parking. It almost feels like a racket that they have posted on their doors that cars will be towed if parked on our own next door. The restaurant is located in middle of nowhere, and they can control their own parking lot but not others. Looks like they call the towing company. I have not seen this ever. My suggestion to raise your cincerbAlso limiting time to eat for 1-2 hours is also not fair. I am from Europe and this is a very strange thing I have seen

M

We went here for holiday party 2 years back and loved it. This time it was utterly disappointing. My friends who ordered meat were very disappointed and did not eat the food. What a waste. There are no vegetarian options

H
Hannah Brown

Just went for lunch and left very disappointed. We rarely get out for a date and we were excited to try the food based on the pictures on the website. We ordered three appetizers and two entrees. I can’t believe the prices they charge for such lackluster food. The raw clams and oysters were great, but everything else looked completely different from the website’s pictures. We’re not picky, but the steak was overcooked and the scallop entree had no seasoning. Sometimes the service can save an experience, but our waitress was neither nice nor rude. Definitely will not return.

L
Lana Cornette

I have eaten here often and it is usually very good, but I was really upset with my last visit. I ordered a special that clearly said it contained lobster and when I was served my entree it clearly had no lobster in it. When I asked the manager about it he first said the menu didn’t say that, so upon grabbing the menu it actually did say it, then he back peddled and made up and excuse about lobster and crab flakes in it. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I just shrugged my shoulders. I didn’t argue with him, but I’m a cook for a living and I’ve never heard of such thing. I’m very disappointed with the answer I got and the entree was 38 dollars. The menu said shrimp, scallops, lobster and crab. It had 2 scallops 5 shrimp some crab and no lobster. I don’t appreciate false advertising. It was literally the only reason I ordered it and was willing to pay the high price. I left very upset. The waitress was very good though, this certainly wasn’t her fault.

S
Susanne Bergey de Ricobaldi

It's a fine place and they served as food, but it was lacking flavor. A filet mignon cheese steak, which sounds decadent, but it's like they were afraid to use any seasoning to make the sandwich tasty. The same happened with my dish, which is forgettable, as well as others at the table. I guess it's good if you're on a low sodium diet. It was expensive, so the beverages, on tap were probably the highlight.

**Chadds Ford Tavern Review** I recently had a truly unfortunate dining experience at Chadds Ford Tavern that left much to be desired. From the moment we arrived, the service was off to a rocky start. Our waitress, Charlee W., rushed us to place our orders, insisting we needed to order immediately because the kitchen would stop serving food at 9:30 PM, despite the restaurant’s closing time being midnight and with many reservations still remaining until 11:30 PM. To make matters worse, there was a lack of essential items like lobster crackers and picks, which we had to request multiple times before finally receiving them after a ten-minute wait. When we turned to the cocktail sauce, we found an alarming amount of shrimp shells mixed in, posing a choking hazard. I had to spend time picking them out, which was frustrating. The food itself was disappointing. The risotto was overly watery, requiring me to transfer it to another plate just to salvage it. The crab imperial and lobster were undercooked and mushy, raising serious concerns about food safety. It was a concerning experience, and I worry about the potential for foodborne illness. Charlee's attitude further soured the experience. She rudely asked if I was done with my plate upon seeing there was nothing on my plate then asked if I needed a box rudely. I'm assuming that's her way of trying to rush us out again. When my wife requested to substitute fries for a vegetable, she flatly and rudely denied the request. As we moved on to dessert, Charlee again rushed us, urging us to hurry because they were trying to close, despite the fact that the restaurant was supposed to be open until midnight. The strawberry shortcake we received was not even close to what we expected—it was undercooked bread pudding that was still raw. When it came time to settle the bill, Charlee hovered over us, asking if we were done counting our cash in a rude manner. We attempted to pay with a mix of cash and cards, but she insisted we use just one method, sighing in exasperation when we explained our preference. To top it all off, as we were trying to sign the bill, she turned off the lights, making it nearly impossible to see what we were writing. She had the audacity to suggest we leave her a nice tip, despite the fact that she had already added a 20% gratuity, which I felt was undeserved given the poor service we received. Overall, I felt rushed, neglected, and ultimately dissatisfied with both the food and the service at Chadds Ford Tavern. If I could give negative stars, I certainly would. I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience, and I hope they take steps to improve.

Bartender was very rude and didn’t even acknowledge myself and husband when we sat at the bar. He looked at us and went to the other side of the bar. After 20 minutes, my husband had to wave his hand and ask for a menu.

Not sure how this place has such good reviews. Got the roast beef sandwich, which is one of their signature items; it was awful. The sandwich was dry and room temp. The meat felt like sandpaper. It was obviously that they just reheat precooked food in a microwave. The sandwich was served with a small serving of fries that were not fulfilling for a $20 item. The fries were clearly frozen fries from a bag. The food is not fresh or well crafted. Portion was small for $20. Also, if you are serving Guiness on draft, get the proper glassware. Nobody wants to drink Guinness out of a regular pint glass. This was my 1st time here, wish it was better.

Absolutely delicious. We went for Valentine’s Day and did the 4 course meal. We started our meal with the complimentary champagne & chocolate covered strawberries. Then our soups came out, we got the lobster chowder and you could tell this was not a quickly made soup. The pieces of lobster in the soup were amazing and super flavorful. After the soups came our bacon wrapped scallops. This was not included in our 4 course meal but we seen it on the menu and had to add it on. The pieces of scallops were so big that we were able to split each one in half and we were satisfied with that. The sauce around it was also really good. After the scallops came our included, baked clams. We chose baked clams because we love seafood and these did not disappoint. The hot sauce that came with the clams set it off. 10/10. After the clams came our main dish, the bacon wrapped filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I asked for my steak medium well and it was cooked perfectly. Super impressed and so flavorful. In between our appetizers and our meal I ordered the chocolate covered strawberry martini which was STRONG but so delicious and beautiful. Our last course of the meal we ordered the white chocolate bread pudding. When I tell you this was my favorite part of the meal I am not kidding. I want to go there every day to get this dessert, that’s how delicious it was. Now the service, was impeccable. Our waitress was not only classy, but so prompt that it felt like she was only tending to us even though she has a room of other couples to tend to. She was quick with each course, her customer service was amazing, but she wasn’t so overbearing that you felt like she wasn’t leaving you alone. Needless to say, this was my first time coming here and will definitely not be my last. I can’t wait to go back! 1000000/10 recommend! Edited to add. We came here for Mother’s Day, and we all got food poisoning. The quality has gone way down and we haven’t been back since. Very sad and disappointed as this was our favorite place for years.

My wife chose Chadds Ford Tavern to celebrate my birthday on Saturday Oct. 18, 2025. We went there around 3:45pm. The restaurant was empty. Maybe 4 people at the bar and a few people in booths. The restaurant section was empty as well. There was no one at the front desk when we walked in. We always sit at a high top. There were no signs stating reserved. A gentleman walked over to us and proceeded to tell us we could not sit there. We could only sit at the empty bar to eat. He was the most unprofessional, rude, and not customer friendly person we have ever encountered in a restaurant. He walked away from us like we were a criminal and not welcome there. My wife and I looked at each other and thought we were in the Twighlight zone that an empty restaurant would treat our business so poorly. With that being said, we stood up and left. I made sure I still tipped the valet who just parked our car. He was equally in amazement. We proceeded to The Crown Tavern on Rt. 202 in Glen Mills where we are always treated with respect and receive good service and good food.
