Had a great Valentine's Day dinner at Fiamma. It was a pre fixe menu, but we checked the menu before making the reservation and were both happy with the options. Everything was excellent and we really enjoyed the dinner. From the complimentary cocktail thru dessert, the food and drinks were delicious and the service was outstanding!
I truly mean it when I say it, this was my best meal I’ve had in Charlotte. There’s a reason this place has been around for so long with so many awards, because they do it right. You can’t go wrong with a thing on the menu, but if I had to pick one, the pear pasta was everything and more. I also have a thing about what a good bolognese is, and they embodied it perfectly. Quick shout out for Luiggi, thank you for everything! If you’re reading this review, I hope you have as an amazing night there as I had!
Fiamma Ristorante is a charming, authentic Italian restaurant that provides fresh and delicious dishes. From the focaccia bread with pesto to start, to the cappuccino and fluffy cheesecake finish, and everything in between (in-house made tagliolini pasta with seafood), not a single detail failed to impress. The service was very accommodating, and the explanation of the history of the restaurant endeared the experience even further.
Really great authentic Italian food and they have gluten free options as well. Lou was our server and he was fantastic (extremely personable and knowledgeable about all the food). Only reasons I have 4 starts for atmosphere is because it smells a little like city water in here, but other than that I cannot complain. For a family owned business the food was so tasteful, the service was so personal, the wine was great.. even their beet salad was unique and good we ate it before taking pictures because it was so delicious! It reminds me of my time spent in Europe in here. Coming back for sure!!!!
We decided to come here since we were already in the shopping center. I must say the restaurant itself is unsuspecting. I had no idea the treat we were in for. We were seated promptly and our service was fabulous. The food was absolutely to die for. I could’ve eaten a whole bowl of the homemade pesto. The shrimp and pasta I ate was fabulous. My partner got the stuffed veal which was on special that night and the little bit I tasted was mouthwatering. We were too full for any dessert. I know we will be back.
Amazing food and super friendly service. A must try for Italian food in Charlotte. We loved that this restaurant is family owned and operated, which made it even better compared to other Italian restaurants in Charlotte. Definitely consider their cocktail menu, so many fun and unique flavors! We’ll be back here for sure.
Closest thing to real Italian I’ve found in the States. Great selection with a cozy atmosphere. It’s classy, but not stuffy. They brought an aperitif before antipasto, and sorbet between courses. Great Pappardelle Bolognese.
We went for our anniversary. Cocktails, apps, dinner and dessert were all fantastic. Lou explained everything in detail.
We came to Fiamma Ristorante to try one of their many veal dishes what we didn't expect was a long list of specials that made our decision so delightfully difficult!!! We just have to come back to try all those amazing specials!! Thank you for the exceptional service, fantastic meal, and an all-around wonderful evening.
Amazing place with delicious food and great service. The gnochi was amazing and rich in flavor. The desserts were good too (the crème brûlée is a must order!!) Also ordered the margarita pizza and penne and we have no complaints at all. The servers were very knowledgeable and so sweet! They made my graduation dinner one to remember
I have been to Fiamma on several occasions over the past decade including date nights, couples dates, and multiple parties of 8 or more. Each time the service and food is too notch. The most recent time I came was for a celebratory dinner with my family, 6 adults and 2 kids. There were only 3 servers taking care of the whole restaurant but you could not tell. They worked very well together to attend to all the tables. They did a great job explaining the menu, as some of my family had not been there, and coursing out our meal. The food, from start to finish, was delicious as always. We ordered many different appetizers, entrées, and desserts, and they were all very tasty and well executed. I highly recommend Fiamma for any occasion. They will not disappoint!
I've got to say... Fiamma Ristorante EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! This place is a gem! The customer service we received was out of this world. Luiggi and his brother provided fantastic service, answered our questions and explained the menu very throughout. Keep in mind that this is a family owned authentic Italian business, not olive garden! The food was beyond delicious. Everything my table ordered was fresh and so good it makes my mouth water. The fresh pesto got me, I wish i would have ordered some to go! 10/10 best Italian in the Charlotte area
Fiamma is a true diamond in the rough. OUTSTANDING authentic Italian dishes and top-tier, professional service. Hesitant to leave a review because we need to keep this place a secret!! Thank you Lou for being a great host. And thank you Dee for being a great server!
I had the pleasure of attending a private cocktail release party and it was amazing. As a Charlotte native I’m ashamed to say I’ve never even heard of this place so when our waiter told us they have been there since 2006, I’m like where have I been?? Lol. Anyways everything was amazing, from the service, to drinks to food. Best Italian I’ve ever had. I most definitely will be going back to try more dishes and drinks. This place will not disappoint.
We absolutely love Fiamma Ristorante. We have been here 4 times already. The service is always exceptional. The food is always top notch and made with such care and expertise. They are so wonderful, cordial and attentive. The staff is amazing. It’s been very hard for me as a New Jersey native (land of the Italians lol) to find a great Italian restaurant and we finally found it. Their portions are great. I love that everything is homemade which is the Italian way. Can’t recommend them enough, there is not anything we have tried that isn’t great. We had the gnocchi con salsiccia, oven roasted chicken with potatoes, fried artichokes, and for dessert: tiramisu and torta di formaggio. Everything was amazing as per usual.
Had dinner here with a friend in town and this is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants i’ve been to outside of Italy. Homemade pasta was perfect… Tiramisu was perfect, Fiochetti (which i’ve noticed has been really hard to find in most Italian restaurants) was delicious, albeit a little heavy on the truffle oil for my taste but it was still very well done. The bread and pesto you start out with is mouthwatering, and the sorbet we were served inbetween courses to cleanse the palate was a yummy surprise. Our server was so sweet and the atmosphere was really relaxing and quiet. Will definitely be back here.
My boyfriend and I have just left Fiamma’s and the whole time we were there after EVERY food item brought out the only thing we could say was “omg that’s so good”. You may have more than one server here I think it just depends on how busy they are and who can attend to you. Our first server was so informative about any questions we had, he even went above and beyond to tell us the history of Fiamma’s and the awards they have received . when i asked for a drink recommendation as I like sweet stuff he recommended some lemon drink described it all in detail and even informed me he put extra simple syrup in it to make it sweeter for me and it was delicious. Our second server was so informative about the daily specials and went into depth about any questions we had. He asked if we had any allergies/dietary restrictions and then we got bread and pesto. After we got the Fiochetti Di Pera and it was TO DIE FOR. I wish they sold that as an entree because we would devour it. We then got a palette cleanser which was orange sorbet and our entrees came out. Margarita pizza and lamb chops with mashed potatoes. The Lamb Chops said by my boyfriend were “So good” the pizza was perfectly cooked, the sauce was delicious and the cheese tasted fresh. We walked out of there with our pants ready to pop and we will DEFINITELY be returning. Great service, great food! (the lighting is darker so pics aren’t great)
First let me just start off by saying that this is the most classic original Tuscan style Italian restaurant in Charlotte by far. This is a family owned restaurant I learned tonight, and let me say this family does it right. Lou, our server knew the entire menu front to back, he was super friendly and took the time to discuss the story of the restaurant and he also had an immense knowledge. I had been here before and brought my fiancée for the first time. We ordered the bruschetta which is now my favorite in Charlotte great quality tomato’s with the freshest balsamic and olive oils. We also had the fiochetti di pera, this is a pasta appetizer and just let me tell you this is the best pasta dish I’ve ever had. I’ve never been to Italy but when I think of what kind of food I would have this dish reigns true. My fiancée had the Tagliolini Allo Scoglio, she loved it fresh seafood and homemade pasta in a garlic white wine sauce. I had the Tagliolini Al Gamberi, a cognac cream sauce with shrimp and homemade pasta it’s now my second favorite pasta dish behind the Fiochetti di pera I mentioned earlier. Also had the cremebrulee that my fiancée loved due to the perfect brûléed crust. We really appreciate the service and time taken with us, seems like we don’t get it anymore even at the more high end establishments. Needless to say this place is 5 STARS, and I’ll be back soon.
Don’t let the strip mall location fool you—Fiamma Ristorante is a true hidden gem. While the exterior might seem unassuming, the food inside is absolutely delicious. They lean into traditional Italian flavors rather than the typical Americanized versions you find elsewhere. If you are looking for a refined, high-quality meal in a warm and homey atmosphere, this is the place to go!
This Restaurant is LEGIT the one and only real Italian place you want to go eat at, for the vibe of sitting in a Restaurant in Tuscany! Believe me, i was born and grew up in Switzerland and been to italy over 10 times in my life....been in the USA for over 4 years now and finally....i found a place that comes as close as possible to the real food and ambiente of italy. Thank you for all the good food, the fantastic service & the little complimets of the kitchen. I for sure will be back to calm my cravings of REAL Italian food!
Amazing food. After our Italy trip, this is the restaurant that comes the closest to real Italian food. Beautiful and delicious food, amazing atmosphere and really good wine.
Phenomenal! The food was easily some of the best food my husband and I have had in Charlotte. Fab was our server, he was passionate about the menu and restaurant and provided excellent service. They’re very careful about dietary restrictions, and pay attention to little details (thank you for helping us celebrate a special day!). This was my first time dining here and it won’t be my last. It is going to be my new go-to recommendation. So amazing! Thank you!
Absolutely LOVED this place! My friend and I went there for the first time. We ordered the salmon and black pasta, and Tirimasu and creme brulee for desserts. The Tirimasu was much larger than expected. We both finished only half of it. We spent about 2 hours there. The service was a bit slow, but the food was very tasty and obviously fresh, which explains the waiting time. Totally worth the wait, I would just plan for it next time. P.S, must try the Moscato (Apricot, Fig, and Orange)!
The food was amazing. The ambiance was also very good. A very nice place to go on a cozy date night and experience some authentic Italian food. A little on the expensive side and Service was a little slow, but nothing too outrageous.
The staff was great but the food was amazing! The flavors and homemade pasta was some of the best we've ever had! Great wine list too. Highly recommend!!
Delicious dinner! The fresh bread and pesto came with our order and even though chicken parm wasn't on the menu they made it for us. Everyone enjoyed there food and service was good.
Fiammas is an excellent Italian restaurant in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte. Had dinner there for the first time last night. Valentines day 2019. We started with the Buratta a delicious appetizer that consist of buffalo cheese prosciutto arugula and eggplant and stuffed mushrooms on top of grilled shrimp. Both were delicious! Ate them so fast forgot to take a pic. For entre we both had the Branzino. This dish is grilled Mediterranean Sea Bass, buttery Scallops, delicious grilled shrimp, pasta and spinach. Oh the Branzino!!!! It was amazing! For dessert we had a ricotta cheesecake with raspberries. Also amazing!! The staff is friendly and picked a fantastic wine to complement our dinner choices. Overall a great place for a nice dinner with a loved one or for a casual dinner with friends.
We were in town from DC to visit family and this meal was amazing. Great food, exceptional prices, amazing portions, and top notch service. Cannot recommend enough. Lou was great.
Great experience, we've only lived here for a couple of months but this was the best food we've had since coming to Charlotte. Our server was absolutely perfect, he knew the menu front and back. He told us everything that was in the dish. Asked us if we had any allergies. The food though was absolutely perfect, we had several of their specials, including their spinach ravioli, their shitaki mushrooms, and their stuffed Veal soo good. Theses people know what their doing! Will be definitely coming back.
Had a great dinner at Fiamma. Griffin was wonderful and made our experience fun and enjoyable. Recommend the burrata appetizer and seafood tagliolini!
Came here for an anniversary dinner 2/17 and everything was absolutely perfect. Our server Griffin was extremly knowledgable on all things menu and drinks, the bartender was helping out and also super friendly, the vibe and decor in the building are so homey and really feels authentic. Knowing the owner is there everyday cooking authentic meals is also a huge plus, every employee really cared about that place and it shows! we will definetly be back.
We had an amazing experience and meal at Fiamma! Authentic Italian food, so fresh and delicious! The staff were friendly and I love that it is family owned and run. They put and lot of heart and soul into it and it shows! I highly recommend if you are looking for a delicious Italian meal- start to finish!
What an absolutely beautiful dining experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, elegant, and inviting — the kind of place that encourages laughter, conversation, and connection. The staff was exceptional. Our waiter was attentive, kind, and even added a touch of humor that made the evening feel special. When I realized my original entrée wasn’t for me, the owner personally came over, sat beside me, and encouraged me to order anything else I wanted — no hesitation, just genuine hospitality and care. That level of service is rare and deeply appreciated. The lighting, ambiance, and overall energy made the night unforgettable. This is a place where you feel welcomed, valued, and relaxed. I left smiling, full, and already planning my next visit — this time just for me. Thank you for such a memorable evening. I’ll absolutely be back.
My bf and I ate here last Saturday after a long day of holiday shopping. From the food and the kitchen team, to the bartenders knowledge and kindness, to the absolutely fun, creative, and innovative drinks, to the overall ambiance and atmosphere... we had SUCH a wonderful time. The folks who work here were happy and have creative space to set themselves apart from all the other cookie cutter restaurants of Charlotte. And everyone we met was SO incredibly genuine. Would have loved to hang out with any of them in real life! (Also, the parking is not stressful like other places). Just go :) Give it a chance and promise me you'll order something off their drink menu (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available!)
Absolutely amazing! Lou, the owner's son, sat at every table and talked to every patron in the place. He spoke with us about our wine choice and the cocktail menu, making sure we were fully informed before making a selection. The food was wonderful, and justifies the prices. I also love that the place is so gluten-free friendly. I'll definitely be going back!!
This was my first time at Fiamma and I will definitely be back! I was looking for an authentic Italian place to go to and decided to book here. The host gave us a private table and our waiter, Griffen, was exceptional. He knew the menu very well, was very attentive, and made fabulous recommendations! Overall, great experience!
We came from NYC to visit my brother in Charlotte and were blown away by the food here. Fresh ingredients and flavorful menu. Great portions. Sweet ambience that are a contrast to the strip mall it is located in. Do not hesitate to eat here! I would do it again 1000 times. With much love and full bellies, Colton’s family
My Girlfriend and I go here for every special occasion. Prices are also great! This place has some of the best food and the most heart felt service I've experienced. This is place a truly a fantastic gem for this city and plenty more should give it a try.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service is stellar! We got the Fiochetti Di Peta, Ravioli Di Giorno, Pappadelle Bolognese, and the Tortino Al Flamma. All of it was authentic and so tasty!
Really good food and great staff. We sold out the place for a family celebration. The staff was amazing and their semce of urgency was on point. Their red sauce plates are great. The salmon dish I had was great. All kinds of flavor profiles. Again thank you to the staff and the establishment owner for allowing us to celebrate.
We went in for Valentine’s Day and it was superb. The bread and pesto is delish. We got a pear pizza that was phenomenal. The entrees were really good. The only 2 cons were the slow service, we were there for over 2 hours, and the crème brûlée was burnt. Otherwise, this is one of the best Italian places in CLT.
Definitely a date-night sort of place for the prices. There is a very distinct smell when you walk in though, that I wasn't able to ever quite place. It wasn't pleasant, and I felt like an Italian restaurant should smell more like garlic and basil and tomatoes than...whatever that smell is. So for me that was an immediate ding. Service was friendly and very polite, but staff seemed a little disorganized or like too many people working in too small a space. We were seated at a booth-backed table facing the kitchen doors and bar where all the water pitchers sit, so not quite the ambiance one might hope for. It also seemed to be the preferred place for staff to chat as they were drying glasses, making drinks or just in between tasks. Food was hit or miss. They serve fresh bread cubes with homemade pesto with your meal, which was very good. They also served us a sorbet in-between our appetizer and main course for a pallet cleanser which was a nice touch. We were there for Restaurant Week, so there were a couple items not on their normal menu. We ordered the Burrata and the Beet Salad appetizers. The beet salad had no layered flavor at all in spite of the accompaniments. It just tasted like beets with a hint of flavor/salt from the cheese. The Burrata paired with the meat and arugula with balsamic was much better. I would recommend that one. For our main dishes, we ordered the Monk fish with mashed potatoes and asparagus which was fine, but again, nothing special (although it's worth noting that the tiny scallops were cooked perfectly), and the Ribeye which came with truffle fries and arugula salad. I have to say, the steak was big (about 5-6 inches in length and about 4 inches wide) but easily the thinnest ribeye I have ever seen; it was maybe 1-inch thick *before* cooking. I ordered it medium, but what I got was almost well-done. Our server offered to have them redo it, which I accepted, and she took the steak back on an appetizer plate while I ate the arugula and "truffle" fries, which for us had no noticeable truffle flavor. A few minutes later, she came back by and I asked if it would be possible to get a little more truffle oil for the fries. She turned to another girl who had just walked up with a whole plate of the ribeye and sides, and said something in Spanish to her (none of the staff spoke English to each other that we heard the entire time we were there; hearing all the staff speaking Spanish in an Italian restaurant is a little comical), and the girl took the plate back in the kitchen. A few minutes later, a different person came out with that whole plate I'd seen before (ribeye and sides) and set it down, taking my old plate. Major kudos for offering a whole new plate and sides! But when I said I wanted more truffle oil, I had meant for the fries on my old plate. The new fries (that I didn't realize I was getting) had been "double sauced" and were literally glistening with the truffle oil. I said thank you and we chuckled that we could dip our remaining bread in my fries now. I will say they were good though, and you could actually smell/taste the truffle oil that time. The new steak was a medium, so kudos on that too. Soon thereafter we moved on to our desserts. We got the Tiramisu which was very good, and the Panna Cotta which was more like thin pudding in consistency. Panna Cotta should be able to stand on its own like flan. This one could not, and was served in a ice-cream sundae glass. It was very tasty...but not a true Panna Cotta. All said and done, it was good, but neither of us felt it was worth revisiting.
Cute little Italian place that has been here for a long time. I came for a special event, so the full menu was not available. The gnocchi was really good, but I wanted to try the lamb chops. The service was very much lacking, but I think this was just due to the special event, so I would give them another chance. Staff was friendly. The drinks are just ok in my opinion, but the atmosphere is great.
It was a struggle to give 4stars here. Cozy seating around the bar. If you want the bar to show off, those making drinks should be trained better. $15 cocktails should be good. Inventive menu of Italian inspired items. Some were very good flavorful dishes, some were not. No problem with the service here, friendly knowledgeable and mostly efficient
Great service and cocktails. We’ve been here for several times and we loved it until our last visit. Our waiter was as nice as he could be but the food quality was a bit disappointing; shrimps in my pasta were slightly bitter for some reason. Perhaps they were not fresh or improper food handling?
Fiamma has changed - the pictures are no longer accurate. White table cloths are gone. This isn't fine dining any longer. The server started by saying 'to save time, she would only read the title of each special, and if we needed to hear the description she could do that if we asked.' After each heading if she had to read the description. (Why are we trying to save time before we give you hundreds of dollars?) The service was one of the worst I've experienced in Charlotte. Our server took our water glasses before we were done, and blew out the candle on our table while we were still sitting there. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant at prime time on Saturday night. Then she ventured to the table next to us to roll silverware and eat her own dinner - the restaurant was empty but she was doing her side work at 8:30 in the center of the dining room. Strange music was blaring. The food is still pretty good, but if you haven't been in a while you will recognize a lot of change.
My real score is 2.7 but google does not allow that. I love Italian food but this is not going to be my place. The food was good however the portion size is small and the price at the high end. Also, they chose poor music. I like the music but not when you wish to speak to others. Horns are piercing pick music without them
Did not have a great experience on a Saturday night. Made a reservation earlier in the day for 8:30 PM. I thought it was for 8:15 so we showed up a little early. No biggie, we didn’t mind waiting. While we waited we saw 3 different parties leave (two parties of two and a party of three), and still weren’t seated at 8:30. Come 8:40 PM, I stopped a waiter to ask if we were going to be seated anytime soon for our 8:30 reservation and we were finally seated. The host left the area at 8:20 PM and did not help get us seated and disappeared for the night, showing up an hour later. Seated at 8:40 PM and didn’t get our appetizer or bread until 9:35 PM. Our seats were terrible, as the lights were low and SO bright that if you didn’t sit up in a certain way or angle, you are blinding the other person across the table. Once we finally got our meal, the young man asked if we would like fresh parmesan to which we replied yes, ten minutes later, nothing. Fifteen minutes later, nothing. We decided not to wait since it was clear they forgot about us. Would not recommend this business to anyone as it was extremely slow service, non attentive staff, and extremely overpriced food for what it is. Go elsewhere if you have the option.
Here for a friends birthday 1/16 table of 8 and they sat us in the back (were minorities) our food came after everyone else even people who were just arriving. Finally our food was lukewarm close to cold. My order was incomplete and they gave my pregnant best friend alcohol after she asked for a non alcoholic drink now shes sitting at the dinner table tipsy while 6 months pregnant and they had no remorse!oh and Apparently the kitchen was short staffed it took us 2.5 hours after arrival to even receive our food. Dont recommend on friday nights or at least not this friday! Very disappointed this was my first time here.
I would like to preface this with saying I have never left a bad review and this is really not something I would do and I am using an old Google account to leave this review. I have got take out from this restaurant before and can confirm the food is good. This review is for something completely different. Tonight I walked to the nail salon next door in Dilworth. Upon leaving the salon, I began to feel very uncomfortable outside. There was a man in the parking lot that did not take his eyes off me from the nail salon to the end of the plaza, and another car on the main road that had done a U-turn right in front of me and pulled into the parking lot I was in and began rolling his windows down. I am a 22 year old female and it was 8pm, which is already fully dark now as it is fall. This UTurn was the initial reason that I decided to call an Uber instead of walk 20 minutes home in the dark. I call my Uber and I see this restaurant is open. There is a couple eating in an outdoor table and I walk inside and sit by the host stand. There are MAYBE 3 tables in the ENTIRE restaurant eating. A server walks up to me and I explain I am sitting waiting for my Uber because I felt unsafe outside. I told him this. His response was “eeeeehhhhh….. okay….. I don’t know.” And I said, “I don’t feel safe outside. Are you guys closing soon?” I thought maybe this was the reason. (Even if they were closing soon, which they weren’t, I should be allowed to sit and wait if I felt unsafe.) his response was “yeah we are.” I said “okay my Uber is 3 minutes away I’ll be out of here soon.” The server walked away and I felt weird about the interaction bc why was he so weird about me literally sitting. Anyways, I went on Google and saw they close at 9. It was 8:12. There were still 4 tables eating. Even if they closed right that second people would still be there eating. Besides the point. This didn’t sit well with me. Once my Uber came I went up to him and super kindly (I am not confrontational but this really didn’t sit right with me) and I said “hey, just in the future if a girl feels unsafe outside she should be able to feel comfortable sitting inside waiting for her ride.” I told him I have worked in the service industry for 6 years now, and any restaurant I have EVER worked in has never minded someone sitting in the lobby. ESPECIALLY when it’s not even busy! To me he says “I don’t know where you’ve worked, but here we do it differently.” I said “I really don’t think you’re understanding how unsafe I felt.” He said “our lobby is for paying customers only.” Little does he know I’ve ordered takeout from here multiple times. I HAVE been a paying customer. If this is the server just trying to be tough, please sort that out with him. But if the restaurant and management would TRULY make a girl feeling unsafe leave, I am extremely disappointed. I think we all saw what happened in Charlotte and how the people around her responded. This situation could’ve been a lot worse, and if I was actually kicked out for “not being a paying customer” and something did happen to me, it would be a very bad look on this place. I’m super disappointed by the people and morale in Charlotte in general. What happened to humanity and looking out for one another? When did it become all about money? Please have a word with this server.
