I live out of state and every time I’m in town I have to stop at Red Rocks. The food is always delicious and the service is impeccable. The manager always treats us with kindness and Spencer, our server, goes above and beyond to make our evenings special. Grateful for this establishment. Will be coming back again and again.
Excellent experience!! Food was great! Staff was above and beyond! I’m new in town and this is my first time here and I must say, I’ll be back again and again, because I’m left with wanting to try everything on the menu! I got a dirty martini, filet and lobster. And my parter got a filet with coconut shrimp. All superb! We took 3 different desserts home and happy we did! Thank you Red Rocks staff for an excellent first experience. You now have a regular. And might I add, this is a family owned establishment, not a chain. Kudos to you all!
We had an amazing meal at Red Rock Café! The New Orleans–style shrimp and grits were outstanding—perfectly spicy with rich flavor and just the right kick. The creamy grits balanced the sauce beautifully. We also loved the blackened seafood salad with goat cheese—it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Great balance of spice, texture, and freshness all around. Highly recommend for anyone craving bold Southern flavors done right!
We had the full turkey and ham Thanksgiving dinner with cranberry, Cornbread stuffing green beans, and also chocolate cake and coconut cake. Our server was good but we had to wait a very long time to get seated. Fortunately our server was good. The food was very good and plentiful and also the decorations
Love Red Rocks! My boyfriend and I have been coming every year for special occasions and today we celebrated our 5 year anniversary. Our server Jordan was so sweet and attentive, our glasses were never empty. The rest of the staff greeted us and all wished us a happy anniversary. The food was amazing and I can’t wait to go back again. This is our favorite spot to treat ourselves without breaking the bank. Always worth it. Thank you!!
Red Rocks was mentioned a few times in the Charlotte Foodies Facebook group, I figured I’d try it out. Service I was greeted by Erin at the entrance pastry case, who was friendly and quick to seat me. My waiter Garrett was attentive, helpful, and didn’t even flinch when I asked too many questions about the sides like I was taking a pop quiz. Starter I ordered a cup of She Crab Soup to start. It comes with a drizzle of sherry on top and a packet of saltines, classy and nostalgic at the same time. While it doesn’t quite top the She Crab Soup at Eddie’s Place, it definitely puts up a solid fight. Let’s call it the Pepsi to Eddie’s Coke. Main Course I went with the ½ rack of ribs. They were fall-off-the-bone tender, coated in a sticky, sweet sauce with just a hint of heat. Not quite a Carolina reaper situation, more like a polite tap on the shoulder. I didn’t need any extra sauce and found myself going full caveman, cleaning each bone like it owed me money. The wild rice risotto was good. Cheesy, flavorful, and a smarter side choice than baked beans if you don’t want to fall asleep by 9. Sweet potato fries were fine. Definitely the standard frozen kind, but they served their purpose. Dessert I didn’t have room for dessert, but I took a slice of Oreo cheesecake to go. It’s made by Queen City Pastry in Mooresville, and based on past experience, it’s probably going to ruin my self-control later tonight. Overall Vibe Red Rocks is the kind of place that works for nearly any occasion. The menu is huge: burgers, pasta, steaks, seafood, salads. You could bring your picky aunt, your steak-loving cousin, or your friend who only eats chicken fingers. It’s casual, but the food is better than you’d expect from a place this broad. Solid experience overall. And as for Aqua e Vino, lock your doors and update your voicemail. Some of us are out here hungry.
Alec was great !! No wait , still sat at the bar ! Food delicious and cold beer ! Highly recommend the she crab soup !
We have been going to this place for 15 years on Valentine's Day, and we love it!!! Great job, Red Rocks, with remaining consistent. THE PERRY'S
The Huntersville location is my go to spot. However, we were in the vicinity and gladly stopped for dinner. Although the restaurant looked busy, we were seated immediately. The chocolate old fashioned was delightful. I ordered the Spinach and Walnut Ravioli with grilled shrimp on top. The dish was as good as it looked. No, it was better! I loved the pasta! The dessert, maybe a sponge cake with a chocolate topping, wasn't so good, but the Vanilla Bean ice cream hit the spot. I ordered a slice of the layered Chocolate Lava Cake to go and it was divine. I shared it with others who enjoyed it as well. I will visit this Red Rocks location whenever I am in the area and look forward to it.
We had the calimari and She Crab soup for appetizers. They have the best calimari we have ever tried. It is cut into strips instead of rings and is super tender and flavorful. The She Crab soup is delicious too and I ended up going back for a bowl to go the next day. My son had the blue cheese filet medallions cooked medium and I had the almond crusted mahi mahi. It was plated so beautifully. My favorite part was the wild rice risotto. We will be back for sure.
My wife and I had dinner at Red Rocks the night after Valentine's Day so it was still bustling. We had to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, but the kitchen staff more than made up for the slight delay with their incredible service. After we were seated, our server grabbed our drink order and then took our food order. Our salads were on our table within minutes of our order, and our mains came immediately after we finished our salads. It was very impressive considering how busy the restaurant was. The kitchen staff was crushing it! My wife had a surf and turf with a 4oz filet and coconut shrimp while I opted for a 7oz filet. Everything was cooked perfectly! My filet was one of the best I've had in Charlotte, and this isn't a high end steakhouse. We have lived in the area for a while and I always passed over Red Rocks for other places as the funky menu names made me think it was gimmicky. My bad! We will definitely be back soon! 10 out of 10.
Great casual restaurant off Fairview Avenue. A great menu selection, good wine selections, great service too. Went with a large group and the service was excellent! All were very pleased with their menu selections. A very nice experience for all. Definitely on my list of restaurants to revisit! Enjoy!
(Late Post) The girls and I love to try new places. We went here Restaurant Week Summer 2021. Service was great and the food was delicious! We shared appetizers of Buffalo calamari and the Spinach dip, we were nearly fighting over it. My friends raved about the bbq salmon and the shrimp in her jambalaya. The chicken I had was flavorful and juicy and the hollandaise sauce was divine. They have a nice patio also. Would definitely go back!
Me and a friend wanted to try something new while visiting Charlotte for the day. We were welcomed at the door and seated immediately. Food and drinks were great and brought out promptly. Our appetizer, the potato chips, were outstanding. We will definitely return. Strawberry lemonade Spinach salad with Blackened chicken added Cajun salmon on a bed of red rice Potato chips
Impressed with the level of quality here, especially during restaurant week. Warm, quick & friendly service, food came fast. Manager Graham was very friendly and was checking on tables to ensure everyone was having a good experience. Place is managed and operated very well, place was buzzing but staff and crew seemed calm and in control.
Amazing food with a sensational experience. The staff are incredibly attentive, from Greg in management to John as our waiter, quality did not slack. I can't wait to. Come back and try more items from their very expansive menu.
I wanted to come back and update my review from 12 years ago stating that Red Rocks is one of my favorite restaurants in the Charlotte area. I can confirm it is still my favorite restaurant in the Charlotte area. We recently started coming back to the South Park location as the Indian Land, SC location closer to us unfortunately shut down. Our latest order: -Pomegranate Mimosa and Pomegranate Martini - both were very good, not sure which we liked more, but maybe the martini. -She Crab Soup - I'll preface and say that I'm not a big fan of this soup to begin with, but I really enjoyed it. My husband definitely enjoyed it! -Crab cake appetizer - they did not have this at the other location, so I was excited to try their crab cakes. They don't compete with my favorite crab cakes in the area, but they are still very good, and I would get them again. I really enjoyed them with the dill sauce! -Cajun Chicken Pasta - my favorite meal! Love the cajun cream sauce. It is paired with chicken, sausage, and creole vegetables. -Quattro Formaggio - my husband's favorite meal. It is a very cheesy pasta! Love the combination of chicken, bacon, mushrooms, and tomatoes. -Oreo Cheesecake - my favorite dessert, so it is always a must order. It has the perfect texture and love all the oreo's and chocolate on top! While this is not made in house, they are supporting another local bakery with this cheesecake and their other desserts - absolutely love that! Other recommendations: -Chicken Marsala -Chicken Saltimbocca Food and service have always been consistent at each location, which is another reason why I love Red Rocks so much. I always know I'm going to have a great meal - lunch or dinner, whether it is at the South Park or Huntersville location. I definitely recommend Red Rocks if you are in the area, and if you are not, it is worth the drive if you are in another area of Charlotte, like we are!
What a great OpenTable find! We were in town for a quick visit and looking for a brunch table for four and lucked into Red Rocks. The menu was expansive and offered something for everyone in our party. We enjoyed sitting on one of the two covered patios enjoyed brunch libations, an appetizer, and a variety of entrees. Service was friendly and thoughtful, but not over present. Will definitely be back again!
This is one of the place I visited for Charlotte Restaurant Week, and was pleasantly surprised. The food was wonderful drinks amazing and the service was no different. I definitely look forward to trying their regular menu items in the future. Highly recommended!!!!
We were there for brunch on a Sunday. Everything was delicious. The service was great - we were seated right away. The atmosphere was great. The pricing was about what you’d expect for a nice sit down restaurant. We spent about $100 total for three adults but our son got the ribeye sooo… 😋
Amazing food! Seared tuna with avocado was cooked perfectly and super fresh. Service was great, and I recommend a mojito and the coconut cake. When you ask to see a dessert menu they bring out a full tray with a pretty awesome presentation. The spinach dip appetizer was okay, definitely just average. I would focus on the other stars of the menu like the fish and steak.
We have been coming here for 30 years and the one constant has been the manager , Will . You will notice him walking thru the restaurant making sure everyone is enjoying themselves .. the 2nd constant is Graham another very good manager who is always looking to help and make sure you are enjoying yourself ..with these fine gentlemen your food is always good and we can say we never had a bad meal . This said this place gets very busy and full to capacity by 5 or 6 pm each day so I would suggest please make a reservation. Next they do serve lunch and have a wonderful patio outside ..
Had my dad's 90th Birthday dinner party there. Summer, the staff event planner, was a joy to work with. Everything went exactly as planned. EVERYONE enjoyed their meal. The salads were fresh, the menu had something for everyone - I highly recommend the Salmon. For dessert, you can't go wrong with the chocolate or coconut cakes. I gave 4 stars to the atmosphere because we had the private "patio" for 27 guest. It was very warm for my seniors. Thank goodness a short rain came and cooled things off a bit. We got a little wet while lowering the plastic blinds. Overall, An Excellent Experience!
Went for lunch at Red Rocks Cafe in Charlotte NC. I really enjoyed it. They have a pretty great menu including tons of seafood and a lot of salads. The service was fantastic- very accommodating and swift. We sat outside on the patio and it was very nice. The indoors was nice as well. They had a few specials including ribs and salmon. I had the blue cheese steak salad and a side of fries. Everything was amazing. I finished everything. Can’t wait to go back and try something new.
Red Rocks is our favorite restaurant. The service is excellent. John, our waiter tonight, was exceptional. He was helpful in choosing menu items, attentive and personable. We will definitely request him on the days he is working. The food was delicious as always. I highly recommend Red Rocks.
We thought we would beat the crowd and eat our Thanksgiving dinner at 7:30 last night, but so did a lot of people apparently. We walked into a jam packed restaurant alive with families and friends, filled with the hustle and buzz that makes this time of year special. The food was incredible, the turkey and prime rib(yes,I tried both!) were amazing, our server, Erica, who had been at work since 9:30am,did everything to make our visit unforgettable. That Red Rocks was able to keep up this pace, to serve so many for so long is mind-boggling to me.We thank all of you who gave up your Thanksgiving to make ours special.
Our visit to Red Rocks for a friends group dinner was fantastic, as always. The menu options are extensive and I have never had a less- than-great meal here. My go-to's are generally salad, seafood, or pasta and it's always a difficult choice because everything is delicious. I really appreciate that all of their unique and crafted dinner salads are also available as starter size, rather than the limited options of garden or Caesar, allowing for a nice combination without having to over order. Last night's visit was particularly enjoyable because of the wonderful and generous service provided by our waitress, Katie. Katie was attentive, focused and delightful. She gave us the perfect amount of attention, checking in regularly without hovering, and she was just very, very pleasant. I highly recommend Red Rocks for brunch lunch or dinner and if the weather is nice, by all means sit outside and enjoy the patio!
Matthew was our server he was an excellent host. The food was prepared wonderfully and he suggested a dessert which was cheesecake delectable. Definitely will ask for him the next visit. God bless
Celebrated a milestone birthday with my close friends. They could not have selected a better place. We were in a private room. We had our own servers. There was a select menu which made ordering super easy and quick. They had audiovisual set up for us and accommodated or party of about 60 beautifully. The food was incredible. I highly recommend planning your next intimate private party there!! Or if you just want a great atmosphere inside or out for delicious food, drinks, and company!
This place is amazing everyone is friendly and the food is amazing. I would strongly recommend this to anybody living in Charlotte or visiting. Please try this restaurant you want regret it at all and I promise you will enjoy the experience. Our waiter was great i hate i forgot his name because he deserves recognition for his excellent service and attitude.
Everything is always top shelf. We wish they hadn't closed the Red Stone location. Our server, Elizabeth, was just the BEST! There were several cups of SHE CRAB SOUP. Our 9 year old daughter absolutely loved it. We also had the House Made Chips with Blue Cheese Crumbles, Scallions and Blue Cheese Dressing. It was very good. The only issue I had was the Blue Cheese Dressing. I've had other places where they make a Blue Cheese Cream Sauce instead of adding the Dressing. Everyone's Entrees were delicious. Once again they outdid themselves from beginning to end.
Excellent place to socialize and eat. Fits well with our conservative views. Right mixture of both young and older people. Often eat there after church as husband and wife or sometimes with a guess. Celebrated both our son in law and daughter in law’ s birthday party. Very consistent service at lunch or dinner. Highly recommended!
Had a wonderful lunch for me staff today at Red Rocks Cafe. We were served by Matthew who was very attentive, answered all our questions and made great menu recommendations! He was great! The food was delicious! The only drawback … we were seated in an outdoor but enclosed area with nice toasty heaters and I think they turned the heaters off when we were seated. My feet were a little chilly when we left.
We enjoyed generous portions and an extremely friendly serving and management staff. Tried a new addition to the menu — a lobster ravioli with shrimp and asparagus and a nice cream sauce — not too heavy for lunch. The ravioli was packed full of lobster and the asparagus was cooked perfectly! Recommend, especially if you are hungry!
Today was our first time visiting. We made a reservation on Open Table, but it was pretty empty when we got there. It was very sweet when we entered the restaurant they said Happy birthday to my hubby, as I put it on the online reservation. When we sat down at our table there was a Happy 60th Birthday sign, such a beautiful touch. The waitress was really nice. We ordered drinks, then appetizers and the dinner. Things moved pretty fast because it was not crowded. The food was pretty good and the sizes were good portions. The Chicken Marsala was smothered in sauce. A little bit too much (photo) but it still tasted good. My husband’s stuffed flounder was really good. The only thing that took off from the 5 star review was when the waitress put down the plates for the appetizers, 2 of them were dirty with ketchup on the bottom. That was a little off putting. She immediately apologized and took them away and got new plates, but at this point the ketchup was on our table that we had to wipe. Also, my tea was empty for about 20 minutes because we could not track down the waitress to get a refill. She has a big party she was working with so we understand, but that kind of stuff should be watched always and if not by the waitress then staff. They do take Veteran’s discount so that was very kind. I think the total was around $165 with tip for 3 cocktails, 1 Ice tea, 2 appetizers and 3 meals. So I feel the prices were on par with other restaurants. I think we might come back for more of a casual vibe one day, but not for a special occasion. I guess the restaurant does not do anything special for birthdays (like a happy birthday cookie or anything). Overall, a decent meal was had and some fun drinks. 🍹
Thursday night was not busy so we got seated without a wait. We chose the outside covered patio area but the flies were an issue. The wine was good. Our server said that the porck chop special had good reviews, so I ordered that. It was juicy but overcooked. My wife had the seafood salad which she enjoyed.
I went here for my birthday. We sat on the patio terrace. I liked that the terrace was heated and cooled. It was a nice day but the temp started to drop. The heat was promptly turned on which warmed us up quick. I had the kale salad as an appetizer and the lemon herb chicken as my meal. It was delicious and seasoned to perfection. Only downside I have a shellfish allergy and do not eat any seafood. I do not like the taste of seafood. They fry everything in the same grease. I was disappointed I could not eat the tortilla chips and spinach queso dip because the chips were fried in the same grease as the seafood. I would probably go again and stick with the salads and pan cooked food.
Nice restaurant overall. Clean and modern building. Nice and professional waiter. The chicken dish was good, but it needed salt and pepper. The crab cake and the chocolate cake were very good. The prices were a little on the high side. Still recommended.
Old school American upscale casual place, better everything than 90% Of places in it's price range. We did the queens feast an app and a couple drinks. Tuna app was good but could have been a little more tart, was a bit bland. She crab soup was thick and creamy with a floater of sherry, good but needed some seasoning. Entrees were very good. Wife had twin filet medallions that were cooked perfectly. I had lobster ravioli with shrimp, again very good. Some kind of butter bundt cake for dessert. Hadn't been there for some time, it was a good dinner.
My family came for Mother's Day as a first time visit & everything was delightful. My strawberry mimosa was delicious! I got the crab stuffed trout w/ wild rice & cheese grits and although the crab was really tasty, the trout was a bit overdone & slightly tough (which I hate for fish) but I ate it. The cheese grits had a nice flavor, I just wish they cooked them down longer because they were more chunky than creamy. (These reasons are why I couldn't in good faith give a full five stars.) My family got the ribeye, dill salmon & chicken & waffles. All said their food was tasty. Portions were really good & the price points are fair. We sat outside under the canopy & it felt great! Our server, Liz, was so sweet! The ambiance is really welcoming too. I would go back, but I'd personally try something different next go-round, because the lobster ravioli sounds great!
Ok so let me start with the food. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was ok. Nothing special or anything that would make me rate it above 4 stars. I also ordered the pomegranate mimosa and that was delicious. I was buzzed with the first one and it influenced me to buy the second one! 😜 My husband ordered the shrimp and grits which was just ok, he said it was lacking seasoning. My friend ordered the ribeye centered cut and she said it came out rubbery so they ended up making her another ribeye and that was just ok. Not prepared the way she would have liked it considering it’s a steakhouse. But overall the service was exceptional and the food came promptly and the ambiance was nice and cozy. Would I come back? Yes, because the service was great and the staff was friendly and welcoming! I would just try something different on the menu.
Really nice place to eat. We sat near the patio and enjoyed the wonderful breeze, highlighted with the heaters above that made it a cozy experience. Our server was terrific and made our visit a joy. Actually, every employee we encountered was friendly and professional.
Worthy of repeat dining, the food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and the staff provide excellent service. I have yet to be disappointed with any sandwich or steak or fish at Red Rocks. Just consistently good.
Really nice atmosphere... nice and cozy... romantic feel. The service was great. The food was pretty good as well.... crab cakes and grilled chicken breast medallions. The banana fosters cheesecake came in for the gold to finish the evening.
Here’s a quick review of my experience at this high-end cafe-restaurant. The service was decent, especially since the place was packed to the brim, but the atmosphere really let it down — I guess that’s out of their control. The food portions were pretty small for the price, which made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. Those crab cakes were delicious but only three tiny ones for $18 felt kind of overpriced. I’m curious about what’s going on Wednesday nights there because it was way too crowded. I’m willing to give it another shot, just not on a Wednesday night. Maybe we’ll check it out during the daytime on a weekday next time.
We had eaten here in the past and enjoyed it. Sunday 12/14/25 was not good. My dinner, chicken with angel hair pasta, was ok. My wife had the Ahi Tuna with teryaki rice. She thought the tuna tasted a little odd but finished the meal. Big mistake. 45 minutes later, at the theater, she became violently ill. Vomit, diarrhea, and nearly passed out in the lobby. It took her a good 30 minutes to feel strong enough to leave the bathroom. I'm sure it was the tuna, because I was not affected. ** We will be in contact with the restaurant **. I realize that any restaurant can have a bad night but someone needs to pay better attention to the freshness of the ingredients. - Norm D.
Terrible service. Steak was tough and chewy, hard to swallow. Could’ve cooked something better at home in comparison. The wait was too long to be seated and found cat hair on my plate.
We were a large group so I believe in trying to make sure we all got fed in a timely manner, our food may have been prepared way in advance. It was the worst meal I've had in a long time. The burger was so cold and dry it was difficult to swallow. Even removing the bread and cutting into bite sized pieces with ketchup didn't help. They did serve a dynamite chocolate chip cookie. I'm not sure I'll take another chance at this place.
Completely unacceptable experience. We had a reservation and still waited over 15 minutes while the table assigned to us had already paid and was just sitting there. Despite this, the staff made no effort to communicate, check in, or help move things along. We were ignored and treated like an inconvenience rather than guests with a reservation. If you can’t manage reservations or show basic courtesy, don’t offer them. Extremely rude and disappointing.
I'm going to start off by saying this . I in no way feel this is a reflection of Red Rock. My reason for saying this is I have been to the Huntersville location a number of times over the past five years. I have always received topnotch guest service. I went to the South Park location today and that wasn't the case. The young man that waited on us was pleasent but very slow after bringing the water we had to call him back to the table 10 minutes later to take our order. We waited for another 20 minutes, until we stop another employee to help us get our food. The food comes out with no soup , no ranch, and a over cooked steak. We asked for medium well . I ask if we could have another steak cooked medium well and I cancelled the soup. The funny is he said it will only take me two minutes to get the soup . After we waited 20 minutes to get it the first time. He walks away and a minute later a gentleman walks up to the table and says do you want another steak. This man doesn't not say hi I am whomever or anything but I'm just trying to see what is you want . I then said sir I'm not sure what going on but this has been a bit much he completely talk over me , talking to my gentleman friend . I calmly said nothing else because it was clear he didn't want to listen. After he walked off to get another steak we still waited another 12 min as the waiter walked my us twice and did not say a word. We kindly got up walk to the front and ask for the bill. The manager again not sure of his name or title says do you want me to make it togo. Well of course. The worst part is this was a man of age and working in restaurant but doesn't get the different of service versus hospitally. I will definitely stick with the Huntersville location
