Traveling the world has always been my thing, and finally making it to Burgers and Brew in Chico felt like checking off a tiny but oddly meaningful box on my global food quest. The trip didn’t start smoothly, though. My family and I were supposed to go together, but a fender‑bender in Sacramento derailed their plans. (They’re fine, thankfully—just shaken. To lighten the mood, I texted them a joke: Why don’t scientists trust atoms? Because they make up everything! Someone had to keep morale up.) Once I’d taken in the downtown vibe and silenced my phone (my wife was very invested in updates), I headed straight for Burgers and Brew. I snapped a few photos of the storefront to send to the family at the hospital, then marched inside, ready for comfort food. Immediately, something felt off. The ratio of staff to customers was wildly skewed. There were 14 employees, all of whom greeted me individually like I was a long‑lost cousin, and 14 dogs—yes, dogs—each wearing tiny aprons labeled “Assistant.” And then there was me. Just me. The lone diner. The chosen one, apparently. The menu was shockingly thick for a burger joint—42 pages, though four of them simply repeated the phrase “Grill, baby, grill” in increasingly dramatic fonts. It offered everything from classic American burgers to Icelandic lamb patties to something called the Nordic Nacho Stack. Tempting, but I went with their house special: the Face‑Melt Meatloaf Burger with a side of “Freedom Fries” (still not sure why they call them that here). The burger was fantastic—juicy, smoky, and arranged in a way that vaguely resembled a smiling face. The fries, however, didn’t stand a chance. Every thirty minutes, the staff and their canine assistants performed a “show,” and it felt rude to keep eating while they stared at me with hopeful, shining eyes. (The humans, not the dogs. The dogs were mostly trying to eat each other’s aprons.) The show itself? A human pyramid of all 14 employees, which would’ve been impressive enough, but they also attempted a dog pyramid. I love ambition, but dogs are not known for their architectural discipline. Across the five performances I witnessed, not a single attempt made it past the second tier. Still adorable, though. Eventually, I needed an exit strategy. I told them my wife had called and needed me urgently. (Not entirely untrue, but definitely exaggerated for survival.)

Been coming here for years, since the old location in Chico. Hands down the best taps in town, reliable and consistent great food, always great service. Thankful to have you guys in town!

Best burger in Chico- no question. I ordered take out and all I had to do was walk in, and pick up my food from the table by the door instead of waiting in any line. SO AWESOME

Omg first time in town and I tried their margaritas ..was very pleased . Would recommend the bar ..pleasant service . I was told by locals though that the food wasn't up to par but I can't say for sure if that is accurate. The scene was also pleasant.

Atmosphere is great and the food is excellent for the price point. The staff is lacking in customer service skills and usually too busy talking to one another. Ordered root beer floats on 2 separate occasions and both were made with coke or pepsi and the staff got irritated when she had to re make it.

Can’t go wrong with Burgers & Brew! Lamb Burger is more than a satisfying lunch whether you choose the fries or the Sweet Potato Fries or a crisp Spring Mix salad. The cucumber dressing is perfect on the burger and even with the fries. Service was fast although at a busy time like just after five you should plan for and extra 30 minutes just in case. If you are a brew drinker plan on bringing a designated driver! Many options to choose from. There is inside and outside seating available but arrive early if you have a large group because reservations are not on the menu.

Offering delicious burgers and such as well as a vast array of different beverages, this place does not shy away with their portion sizes. All their food is sourced from Northern California, making for a delicious local meal. Portions can be overwhelming and tastes surprising, however the staff here are always willing to help make your meal great.

Awesome place. I've also been to the one in Sacramento, equally as good. Prior to coming here I actually had a burger , but mt buddy really wanted to come here. So I ended up having their Philly Cheese Steak. Amazing! Peepers and Onions made it.

I got the Impossible burger with BBQ sauce added and it was delicious! The onion rings were also on point. Best of all, the service was excellent! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a good burger in downtown Chico.

My son and I came here for dinner on Tuesday after a baseball game. Was around 6:30pm or so. The place was welcoming and soothing. (5/5). Seating was self serve but not before you place your order at the counter. (5/5). Not crowded at all but could be because school is out of session and on a Tuesday evening. We both got burgers. Food was served hot from the kitchen within about 10min. (5/5). Food tasted great. (5/5). Staff was friendly. (5/5). Overall experience (5/5). Would definitely return if in the area again.

I love the burgers and they always have an eclectic new flavor on the board. But I love the salads more. They are super full salads and there is a new added option to add steak instead of just chicken. Grilled chicken tossed in buffalo goes better with balsamic glaze than most people understand. <3 the shakes and nutella cheesecake are always a great way to finish, but the constantly rotating taps make it even more exciting to come in every few days and to see what is new. The last visit was met with a selection of sours. As far as service, there are a couple servers who are freakin awesome. A few more, not so awesome. Little bit longer of a wait, but get your beer early and your tummies ready.

One of my fav burger spots in Chico. My go to is the lamb or bison burger. Can't go wrong with curly fries and garlic fries. There is a HUGE selection of beer on tap. Service can be a long wait but its worth it. I will return!!

Excellent place! Came here to meet with some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time. And I couldn't think of a better spot. The variety of burgers they offer surpasses everyone else. The beef they use is amazing, taste amazing, and they cook it to your specifications. All of the sides are freshly made, and the fry combinations they offer are to die for. We had the hot buffalo fries, along with a barbecue burger, and a double bacon cheeseburger. A couple of orders of onion rings were added in there as well, and it was all so delicious! Service was great, and there was a variety of seats available. Will definitely be returning on my next visit.

Loved this place took the family before our time at the ice skating rink and was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the staff and food. We did sit outside more because we had a larger group. They had heat going so it was comfortable and very nice even on a cold night

The tables can be found a bit sticky even when there aren't many people there, but the customer service is generally quite good and the food is delicious and portions are robust. I just had one of their daily specials (see photo). I can't remember what the name of it was but it's the 3rd or 4th time I've gotten one of the specials and I've never been disappointed. The service was also very fast, although I did have the advantage of going in while it was slower, around 5:30pm the week after the last Thursday night market of the year.

Visited September 26th..see my receipt as always. After having suishi at the Rawbar ( awesome place) we did some shopping and saw this place and decided to check it out. It's a cool beer and burgers place with indoor and outside seating. It has a ton of beers to choose from! Although I am not a beer drinker we did try a few samples offered by Nico ( really nice and cordial employee). We decided on a pale ale and got the garlic fries as well. We only nibbled on the fries because we had suishi awhile ago but we loved that there was alot of garlic on the crunchy fries! More leftovers! It had a nice cool and relaxing vibe. If you love beer then this is the place to go! Fun and relaxing environment. Kiddos welcome with kids menu. Nothing fancy...Great for University area!

Nice place to eat indoors and out, really cool building and old brewing related art. The service was fantastic, ordering up front and paying first takes the pressure off when you get to the table. Try the Purple Haze Hard Kombucha and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, you will not be disappointed! Two blocks from the fast EV chargers too.

The Buffalo burger was tasty - no cheese and they didn't offer to add. I asked for extra pickles and I didn't get any. The curly fries and onion rings were nothing special, just ok. The rootbeer float was tasty! They may have been in between shifts but the service was slow, at the counter and they seemed distracted. Overpriced for just a burger and fries and mediocre service. One plus is that dogs are welcome!

Love the food here! It’s something the whole family can agree upon and enjoy. Downside - they never include the extra sauces we pay for. It’s been done right maybe 2x out of the multitude of to go orders. We called and complained to management one time, and they responded well. But it’s continued to happen, twice since then! We make sure to check it upon pickup now and routinely catch the error. Delivery is not a great option because you can’t check it beforehand. It hasn’t stopped us from going because we love the food.

Extremely warm inside the building. Hotter than being directly in the sun outdoors. But the service was very friendly and took care of our needs graciously and effectively despite some, well, for lack of better term, setbacks with my 5 year old lol overall though the food was really good and I will for sure be going back soon

We were in Fleet Feet shoes, in Chico, and we asked where we should go to eat, since it was our first time in downtown Chico. The salesperson suggested Burgers & Brew. We went straight to the restaurant. It was fairly busy, but we got through the line quickly and put our order in. Seating was outside and they had a covered heated seating area, because of Covid. I didn't have a beer, but they had a ton to choose from. We only waited about maybe 10 minutes for our food. Each one of our meals was boxed up, which I thought was a great idea in case someone couldn't eat it all. The burgers were huge! We ordered the pastrami burger and the bacon BBQ burger. They were both amazing, but the pastrami burger WOW! It was so good! The fries and onion rings were amazing as well. I am so glad we stopped in to eat at Burgers & Brew! Great food and great service! I highly recommend eating here if you are in Chico, CA.

I had the single bacon cheeseburger, with garlic fries and a blue moon. Great downtown location, the people watching is excellent, excellent selection of brews, the burgers are perfectly cooked to order, the fries nicely done (although maybe a little soggy).. definitely worth a visit

Spur of the moment stop while in Chico but definitely did not disappoint! Food was great, beer selection on tap was abundant, the atmosphere was awesome and service was excellent. Parking can be difficult especially during peak hours, so plan ahead! This was on St. Patrick’s Day right at lunch and the weather was awesome! Process above average but the food and drinks were worth it!

You walk in and stand in line to order at the cashier. There are lots of beers on tap. They have about 6 ciders on tap. They do give samples if you're unsure. There is seating inside, which is a bit loud and outdoor seating, which has plenty of tables in the shade. The portion of fries are large. The burgers are very big and tasty.

Date night..."Hamburgers, downtown night life, and Concert in the Park." Burgers and Brew was the start of a beautiful night out..and it never fails to disappoint. We arrived a little before 6pm to a near empty restaurant with plenty of seating to choose from. We walked to the counter and placed our order. I got the "Special", which was the Sriracha Burger, medium-rare, which included a 1/2lb burger, Sriracha aioli, honey-glazed bacon, pepper jack cheese, fried onions, arugula and tomato, with onion rings as my side. My wife got the always popular Buffalo burger, medium-rare, with lettuce, tomato, and red onion, with fries. Arriving before the rush is KEY, as the food comes out of the kitchen faster. Within 10 minutes, our dinner was at our table. My burger was heavenly...not too much heat, but just right. Everything about it, and my wife's burger, was just right. Only bad take-away was the arugula clumped in the middle of my patty. The onion rings were fried to a perfect color and crispness...as were the fries. This is a wonderful establishment to start any night in Chico, however... the 5th star would be given IF they put the Burgers FIRST. While there are plenty to choose from, a build-your-own burger menu would serve a better purpose. As for the Brews...alas, we don't drink, which negates the "Countless" offerings to choose from. If you are a fan of both, this is the place for you.

Mixed reviews this time. This place is great fir burger and beer. It is cozy and nice. Service is great. Recently, had a bad experience. We ordered Grilled chicken. They served it burnt, dry and over cooked. We I formed to the server, they brought us bill and that's all. Was really not happy to pay for it. No one bothered to even ask if we want to order another one or have something different.

Went at 4:30 on a Monday. Ordered Impossible burger and fries with a beer. $25. Not exactly a bargain. For that price, I expected decent food. Impossible burger was ok for a vegetable pattty, however, the fries were way over-cooked and not in a good way. What made it worse is that the cashier on hand tried to defend what was served. When I confronted him stating that nobody purposefully serves fries like that he copped out with "well we just got a new provider of fries" as if that makes it ok for the cooks to serve dark brown hard fries. C'mon man! The way to improve begins with owning your mistakes. Too bad because I had been there for very good food in the past. It seems they are just going through the motions. Nope. Won't be back anytime soon.

Still a great place for burgers. Good portion sizes, and tasty food. Best for dine in. Just make sure they give you what you ordered before you leave. Messed up on my wife's side, yet again, and only received a half Fuji instead of full. Lost a star for this one.

So I ordered a Vegetarian burger, I felt it was okayish. Not that great. For me it tasted a little bit bland may be it'd taste good with more sauces or spices in the patty or applied to the bun.

The restaurant itself is very nice. Love it's location, it's vibe etc. Most of the staff here are really laid back and nice. The food, at least what I got, wasn't very impressive. I got an over cooked steak sandwich that needed some kind of sauce because it was so dry even though I asked for med rare. I also asked for raw onion but they grilled it anyways. Fried anything here is good. Burgers looked very impressive. I heard great things from my people about the burgers. The two of us that ordered them just weren't impressed with the sandwiches. Also, I think the water station needs work. Having to ask for ice constantly is inconvenient for both patron and bartender. Overall would definitely come back for a burger and fries. Love the floats. Most of the staff are cool. A little too laid back at times so check your order before you bite into it

Great food and a good atmosphere. I would give 4 stars but approximately 1 out of 10 to‐go orders will actually include the sauces I purchase. I have even had them directly tell me the sauces are in the bags, I open them in front of them and have to ask for the sauces because they are in fact not there. Small detail but it drives me crazy.

I ordered the BnB cheeseburger, which is supposed to be like a Western burger. and well, I got it, and there was a drop of BBQ sauce on it. If I order a BBQ burger, I want it to be sloppy and messy. My husband ordered the mushroom and onion burger. You think it would be overflowing with those two items, but it wasn't. The buns weren't toasted either. There is just a lot they could do but don't. The fries were ok. It's just not a place I would go again. There are better places in town for a good burger.

The burgers were good, not omg so fabulous, but it just wasn't a $45 experience for two people. I'm guessing when seasoning the burgers the chef did not season from height above the patty, because there were a couple bites that were super salty and the rest was fine. The buns tended to disintegrate when you try to unhinge your jaw to take a bite. It's a order at the counter and seat yourself, get your own water, sort of place yet they still expect tips. Went at lunch time with my daughter and probably not a place I'd go back to for food. I can totally see after a night of drinking people paying that price for a greasy burger and it totally hitting the spot.

I ordered a burger and fries to go, and drive all the way over to pick it up and they cancelled my order right after I placed it because "they closed their kitchen early" (even though there were still kitchen staff cooking food in the kitchen area). They cancelled my order, and not to be petty, but now I have to wait for a refund when they were more than happy to take my money and then cancel my order. If they're going to "close their kitchen early," then maybe they should turn off their ordering capability before people place orders and drive all the way over there ?! Food for thought 🤔.

Food is good, but the order was missing some items. Also I almost got stabbed by a toothpick from the burger. Please put something on it so it will not go too deep into the burger.

Went for the first time in a long time. Was hoping to do some work on my laptop but they do not let guests use their wifi. Strike 1 for a lunch place. They represent themselves as local but more or less all of their ingredients, including their patties, are obviously from a low quality corporate supplier. None of the food is above mediocre. The music is obviously whatever the staff feels like, including teeth-grindijg techno. The tables are all delaminating, the walls and windows and blinds are dirty/nasty, and the decor has standing dust bunnies. Currently it feels about 85 in the main room and we haven't even hit the 100s yet. Gone far, far downhill. Wouldn't recommend. Go to Banshee, B Street, or the Bear if you want a burger downtown. You'll thank me.

Waiting for a refund. The day manager messed up and didn’t get enough change for the day (During graduation weekend) and was about to refuse my Grandmas $100 bill and deny us service. Thankfully I had some birthday money and had to use that. Woke up the next day to see they had charged me $122 for three freaking burgers?! My account is in the negative and the manager still hasn’t contacted me four days later. They took a 100% tip for themselves and now ghosted me.

We brought a visiting family member to Burgers and Brew for dinner last night (10/21/2025) and were quite disappointed with the condition of the restaurant. The patio dining area was filthy despite the restaurant being nearly empty - the floors were sticky and littered, there was bird droppings on the tables, nearly every chair cushion was worn and /or torn, and the area smelled of stale urine. Additionally, the restaurant bathrooms were closed. The food we ordered was edible but mediocre at best. They do have a nice selection of beers on tap and the staff was attentive, but these positives were unfortunately overshadowed by the disgusting condition of the establishment - it felt like we were dining in a gas station bathroom.

As a business owner, I feel compelled to address certain observations made during my recent visit to your establishment. I noticed a concerning lack of customer attention, with staff members engaging in excessive conversation among themselves rather than attending to customers. This created an unwelcoming atmosphere, as if customers were being ignored. As I sat myself, I waited for some time without being acknowledged or spoken to by any staff members. Furthermore, there seemed to be an excessive amount of laughter and joking among employees, which detracted from the professional ambiance expected in a bar or establishment. When I inquired about the vegetarian burger, the staff member I spoke with appeared to be unfamiliar with the dish, which is unacceptable considering it is part of the menu. It is essential for staff members to be knowledgeable about the food they are serving and be able to provide accurate information to customers. As a chef, I firmly believe that all staff members should be required to taste the food they serve, as this not only ensures quality control but also enables them to provide informed recommendations to customers. Among the staff, I must commend Kelsey for her efforts, but it is concerning that she appears to be compensating for the shortcomings of others, which can lead to an unsustainable work environment.

We've been here a few times now but today was disappointing. A patty melt is not a cheeseburger with tomatoes, mostly raw onions, and thousand island dressing on white bread. 🫤 It was missing the the rye bread and the caramelized onions? I asked someone about it and was told that was their version of a patty melt. I expected better from a place with "Burger" in their name.

The burgers weren't great. The fries weren't great. Both were certainly edible, but nothing special. The reason this is a one star, for me, is that there were no indoor seats and there were flies all over us on the patio. I've never eaten so fast, just to be able to leave an establishment. I understand they're not training these flies to pester their patrons, but the end result was that I ate as fast as humanly possible, while defending my dinner from a horde of flies.

My burger was undercooked and I got sick. It was basic self serve of water napkins and picking up food.

I waited for my food for thirty minutes for them to tell me they were out of the item I ordered. At that point I asked for a refund. I hadn’t been here in about a year; even on a good day the food is mediocre at best.

Who owns or manages this place. Do you even go in there? Everything is filthy! I mean everything. You first walk in and the glass doors are covered in handprints, all the bottles they display are covered in thick dust, our arms stuck to the table. The floors haven't been cleaned in ages. There was a 2 foot in diameter puddle in the middle of the kitchen floor while I was there no one even bothered to clean. One man came to eat and had to ask for a towel and cleaner to clean his seat and table. He shouldn't of bad to ask. The employee should of done it for him. Now the food....that was a total joke!! Waited 25 min for some fries and a plate of lettuce. There was supposed to be chicken in it. There was 3 bites. I said I think they forgot the chicken. The cash register girl had to hunt fod the chicken in my fries. And was super super salty. Took 3 bites and left the rest. The side salad was big huge leaf lettuce that is it. And served with plastic forks. Horrible horrible place to eat!! Do not eat here. It used to be great!! How are they even in business. I will say...beside the cook staring off into space while he should of been cooking. The rest of the staff were very sweet. Hire a cleaning crew!! I own a cleaning business. I cleaned it right before they opened. It was so nice. Sad that owners let such great places go to crap! If you don't care about your business...get out! You need to keep it clean! And no, I am not trying to get them to hire me to clean it. I would never! Couldn't pay me enough to clean that place.

The food is great. Unfortunately, a very large rat ran right up to our table tonight when we were there. I told the management, who replied, "we're working on it." We changed our order to go, but I would think they would have done something more than that to encourage us to come back again.

Outside seating smelled of urine. One of the chairs had a large hole in the bottom of the chair. Tables were not wiped off. Generally the patio appeared to not be cared for and allowed the elements to degrade tables, chairs and lights.

The worst $75 I’ve ever spent in my entire life….and that may be an understatement. The food was egregious. It tasted like it came straight out of a Sysco box. As someone who cooks for a living, I was at a loss for words. ….I thought I had seen it all. I would’ve asked for a refund, but I did not want to come off as uncouth in good company. I might still at some future point & time. It really just depends on how long the bad taste still sits on my tongue. Fortunately, I was in good company & that made the experience much more enjoyable.
