Kona's on Nord

My new FAVORITE lunch spot in town! Kona’s on Nord checked all the boxes; from the food (of course!) to being VERY family friendly! My 10 year old loved it; to the staff. Mr. David, Mr. Tyler (Sami Master, 🙏), & Mr. Chris. They greet you by name and almost psychically anticipate what you’re in the mood for. They are usually spot on! They’ll have you taste test the meat/soup of the day. Freshly made. Great food, great value, great service; the restaurant is always spotless, great music in the background. Just an all-around great spot. I recommend it to everybody in Chico! See you guys soon! Aloha, -Todd & Boys

Went in for my first time today after checking out their menu online. Dave, the owner, was so nice and welcoming and suggested the Smokey Joe and his fresh Bacon Potato Cheddar soup. Everything was sooo yummy!! The spicy BBQ sauce has just the right amount of heat and the soup was delicious and comforting! Definitely my go-to sandwich & soup spot from now on. Thank you Dave!

I can't say enough about this place. I went in today to get my favorite sub. The tri-tip. It's wonderful. I was offered to try the soup and agreed. Clam chowder or broccoli and cheese. I mentioned that I don't like chowder but as he described the chowder (his Moms recipie.) When he said bacon and not a lot of clam juice I agreed to try it. So it was so delicious I bought clam chowder for tge first time in my life. I'm 61 years old. I will buy it again. Wonderful and great people.

They have the best home made soups, smoked meats are wonderful. I had the smoked tri tip with habonero BBQ sauce! Fantastic! Thank you for a great lunch & service! 5 Stars!

Dave (the owner) and his team are unbelievably welcoming and personable. It kind of feels silly to write a heartfelt review about a sandwich place, but you can’t help it after interacting with these folks. The whole team is warm and friendly, it makes you want to come back over and over. The food is great and you can tell that Dave takes great care in providing the best to his community. When we pulled up today, Dave was outside helping a customer whose truck broke down. The sandwiches are good, but in the end, it’s not just about the sandwiches. ✌🏻

Just came in for a sandwich (the name caught my eye on Yelp). So glad I came in. Liam and Ava were amazing! Liam gave me a run down of all the things and gave me a few samples. While assembling my sandwich, he noticed a piece of my car’s undercarriage was hanging down. And went and fixed it! And obviously he washed his hands when he came back in. EXCELLENT SERVICE.

The best sandwich shop in Chico by far. I love this place and how freindly everyone is. They make top notch sandwiches - do yourself a favor and get the destroyer on onion bread with peppercionnis. The fact that there is a subway right next door is an insult to sandwiches, and I'm surprised it hasn't just naturally gone out of business yet. Konas is the way to go. Especially if you like soups and onion bread. Freaking good.

Kona’s is the absolute best!! Every time me and my boyfriend come here, we feel so welcomed. The owner (I believe?) is incredibly kind and makes you feel at home. The food is also delicious, hands down the best sandwich shop in Chico. They also have different soups that are equally as tasty.

Your typical college town sub shop. Much better quality & ambience than subway, while still being competitive on price with larger chains like Togo's. $0.50 credit card fee plus the machine asks for tips despite counter service.

The bread is very very dry. This is my 5th time going to Kona’s and it is never a great experience. There is barely any meat on the subs. Asked for extra mayo because I know they are dry and there was still barely any sauce. My husband had the sourdough, I had the Dutch crunch and both breads were very dry. I love supporting local places but I won’t be back.

Other than that the sandwiches me and my friends had were bland, and felt like they were put together mindlessly. Here’s a list of problems that if worked on, could make a decent sandwich. 1. What’s going on with the bread. First off, bread is not even goood. Got the sourdough because the Dutch crunch was out of stock. No problem with that, but the sourdough was probably in the bottom 3 I’ve had. If it was toasted it could have been decent, but it was just room temperature. Also, THE BREAD RATIO IS CRAZY!!! I attached an image to explain, not much to be said. All you taste is bread! 2. The guacamole was runny and bland. Also, wasn’t told it would be $3 until the checkout. Not only would I have not gotten it if I was told of the price, but it wasn’t even worth the price at all. Chipotle guacamole is still cheaper and even that is a crazy price for guacamole. As I write this I am eating a burrito from Aca Taco and the guacamole cost a dollar. 3. Price. $10 for a foot long is fair for an average sandwich joint. Not for this sandwich. A Subway foot long is better so the price cannot be justified. 4. Could have made the sandwich at home, it’s just a whole baguette in half with a measly amount of ingredients. No special sauce, no signature ingredient, and on top of that you can’t taste the ingredients anyways. Only bread. Those are the main criticisms I have for this place. The reason for the one star is because there is no reason to go here, when Subway and other sandwich joints exist. Just overall disappointed, won’t be back and won’t be finishing the sandwich.

Foods good but the elderly blonde gentlemen barking orders at customers as they were picking up orders and I was waiting for mine was extremely off putting. I recommend you work on your tactfulness if you see this sir.

The worker behind the counter was laughing and joking about how my girlfriend and I should be taking Ozempic. We are pretty big people. It wouldn’t have been that big of a deal if the sandwich didn’t suck either. It was so dry and flavorless. It felt like meat and bread. It wasn’t worth being fat shamed.
