Opinions de Trés Hombres Chico
This restaurant has been a long time favorite for our family. Just had an excellent experience with Amanda as our waitress! She took our drink orders immediately when we sat down, they were delicious as always. The food came out hot and fresh and she was on it if we needed anything. So impressed with her customer service, we will definitely be back to sit in her section. Thanks Amanda!
Great Mexican food, recently they have redone their menu this was very much for the better. Most of the old menu items are still there but many new ones have been added. Revamping their dessert menu, they have made an incredible fudge brownie, it us to die for…
Apart from the incredible crowding and loudness, it was divine! I had a burger and my partner had some seafood tacos! The waiter and host was very kind and the food was amazing! Definitely recommend for a nice dinner or lunch date.
Great service, great food, great establishment for sure. I don’t drink but I heard the margaritas are simply delicious. The floors were not up to my par but then again, I am a floor guy. It was just the grout lines. Overall, it’s a fine establishment and a must try for those Mexican connoisseurs.
I ate a late lunch at Tres Hombres and I have no complaints. The food was good, and my girlfriend had a margarita which was excellent and only cost $6. The dining room is very comfortable and the staff were friendly. It’s on the slightly expensive side but I feel like the prices are very reasonable considering the atmosphere and the quality of the food. I will probably be back and I’d definitely recommend the place for a nice lunch or dinner date.
We got to throw my mom a surprise birthday party here. They took our reservation last minute and were very accommodating. They were excellent at keeping the chips and salsa coming and our drinks filled. The food was delicious as well.
Really yummy food, a delicious drinks. If you like a good margarita that is the size of your head, I would recommend this place. The food is pretty good, but a little dry for the Carnita's. It's a great location downtown and it's absolutely stunning in the warm weather to eat outside. The staff is always pretty friendly. All-in-all, I really like this place.
The owner was so classy so kind. They have a new menu and the service was super slow. She ended up, comping us churros in the churros more difficult, and so they ended up comping us our whole meal. It was above and beyond generous and we will definitely be back. My husband’s been a customer for 30 years.
My wife and I lways enjoy dining here. Service is always great, love the BlackBerry margarita! Word of advice... Don't go there on an empty stomach and start drinking large margaritas, be prepared to walk them off 🤪
Long time patron of this establishment, that started when I was at college. It is now a must-do anytime I am back in town. The chips and salsa are delicious, and they keep them coming. The food is average. It's nothing overly special, but it's consistently average. What really gets the 5 star rating are the drinks. The margaritas are phenomenal. You aren't truly living if you don't get one. Get the avocado margarita. I promise, you won't regret it. (Unless you're allergic to margs, avocado, or a life well lived, in which case probably don't do that)
Delish!!! I had the fish tacos and was not disappointed. The salsa is fresh and tasty. The chips crispy and warm from the kitchen. Our server was attentive but not stalking us. We will definitely be back.
“I knew there was a number in the title” - My Dad speaking about tres hermanos. Good margs, great portions, good times.
No wait times, friendly staff, food was incredible, drinks on point, staff was incredible and very attentive to their customers, comfortable, nice ambiance. Oops! Forgot to take pictures!
In a world where customer service is going extinct, my son and I had excellent service tonight by Robert. We sat at the taco bar where Robert seemed to really go out of his way to make sure we had a great experience! I was extremely impressed. He answered questions, gave us extra napkins, refilled multiple glasses of water and all with a pleasant attitude. He acted like he really cared about providing good service. The food was delicious and we'll definitely come back. Thank You
Had the best time with my server Alexis, very attentive and personable, will be coming back. Food was so good and flavorful.
This place is awesome, in its own way. Is it slightly gringo? Sure. Is the carpet sticky? It is. Is there barf in the urinal in the men’s bathroom? You bet! BUT the food is EXCELLENT, the service is snappy and professional, and the drinks are great and fairly priced. The birria tacos are phenomenal, the guac is delicious (I think they add sour cream), and the portion sizes are generous. All jokes aside, killer Mexican spot with great food and amazing staff.
Feedback on Restaurant Experience The food was delicious, and the service was attentive. However, there were some areas for improvement: 1. *Attention to detail*: Servers should be more mindful of customers' needs. In our case, we received chips, salsa, drinks and food, but no napkins or utensils. 2. *Coordination and communication*: Servers should regularly check on tables to anticipate needs. For example, providing utensils and napkins with menus would be helpful. 3. *Timing*: Servers should be mindful of when to offer additional services. We were offered chips after finishing our meal and paying the bill. Recommendations for Improvement 1. Train servers to focus on detail and anticipate customer needs. 2. Enhance staff communication for a seamless experience. 3. Review processes to ensure timely service.
Went for lunch and beat the Sunday rush. Everything was very good. I had the Quesadita Salad with dill ranch. Also had the spicy bean dip. It had a great bite to it. The service was impeccable. They were so attentive and really just made the whole experience even better. I fully recommend sitting inside if you are wanting to have a conversation, but the deck is an amazing place to relax and check out Downtown Chico. Next time I'll have a margarita. The other person in my party had the enchiladas with green sauce and rice and black beans. All of that had great flavors also.
I ordered a strawberry margarita made with silver Patron and the red snapper fish tacos 🌮, requesting the cream sauce on the side. Our server was prompt with a welcome and basket of chips and salsa. He took our drink order and quickly returned with our drinks. We were busy visiting, not looking at the menu, so he gave us a couple of moments. After taking our order, the food arrived hot and as ordered, about 10 minutes later. I will return. Great food, service and margarita!! 🍹
This is a must visit with your lady for a casual drink good food and excellent service.
Brought my wife here for our wedding anniversary, and Tres Hombres did not disappoint. They have a wonferful chef, who brings the color, design, and taste come alive in their menu; their service matches the food quality, great! Definitely, Highly Recommend. This could be the BEST restaurant, period in Chico.
I loved coming here for my birthday dinner! Margaritas and Mexican food are my absolute favorites. So I was not disappointed in coming here. I was excited at their tequila and margarita flavor options. I got a key lime margarita and it was delicious! I definitely plan on coming back to try their other margarita flavors.
Had a delicious quick dinner at Tres on Thursday and wanted to share my experience- We went in for happy hour before opening night market and loved the new margarita flights. It was fun to try different flavors and get 4 nice sized drinks for $15. We also ordered the street tacos and loved how they were seasoned. Our server Kensey was cheerful and fast with our drinks and food. We sat in the cocktail area by the bar and had a great time with the vibe of the restaurant. I loved the pina colada and the churro basket was better than the churros at Disneyland! I highly reccomend 🥰
Great lunch spot! We’re in town for Chico State and the recommendation to eat at Tres Hombres was a good one. The inside dining is large, but cozy with wood, brick, and plants and service was friendly and prompt. We had traditional street style tacos - one carne asada and one chicken - and the birria quesadilla. We added on a side of Spanish rice and refried beans, which were terrific. The skinny margarita was refreshing and a bargain at $8. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m at Chico State.
Tres Hombres is a great spot for a quick, sit down lunch. The Pepita salad with extra carne asada was excellent—fresh ingredients and a generous portion. The service was fast and friendly, making for a smooth and enjoyable experience. Definitely a place to revisit whether with friends or colleagues.
We came here for dinner and we were not disappointed. The service was very polite and informative, giving us plenty of information and encouragement on various dishes that they had on their menu. Our food was prepared made in a timely fashion despite being quite crowded in the evening. The portions were great, and the quality of the food was as well. Highly recommend when visiting Chico.
Great service, great food, great margaritas! It would be easy for this restaurant to slouch under the weight of "cheap college eats." But it doesn't - drinks on point, pepita salad with chicken was absolutely delicious and so satisfying. Grateful for easy, good, clean food while in town! Patio was lovely, and dogs were welcomed (and given water). Service was lovely and efficient.
Yummy meal with friends here. The shrimp bowl was fantastic as was the carnitas tostada. The margaritas are fabulous as well.
It was Valentine's Day, and we had a reservation. I believe the four of us all ate very well. My spouse and son had a huge burrito, my daughter had a chicken casasilla, and I had a huge taco salad! Everything was great, and I believe we ate so much food, we were all so full at dinner time 😁
This is perfection in a restaurant. Food was amazing! Great flavors, excellent spice without overpowering my taste buds. I had the Birria Burrito and it was awesome. If I had one complaint, it would be the complaint of all burritos; one bite was amazing Birria and another was deliciously prepared rice. I would've like more even distribution of the flavors. My wife had the Quesobirria Tacos and they outshone the burrito. The presentation, flavors, and addition of lime really pushed the tacos over the top. Let's also not forget the chips and salsa! Both salsa options were stellar and the chips were just the right crunch and salt to go with either salsa option. Service was excellent! They were not terribly busy, but every one was polite and anticipated our needs or wants. Juan was particularly great with his friendly attitude and knowledge of the menu. He helped steer my wife to the tacos and I should've listened to him too! The decor was very top tier. Elegant, but not overly fancy. It speaks to a place that knows what it's about and had no misgivings to what it is not. Everything was well used, but also well loved. Sturdy and serviceable, while also giving the feeling of high quality. Specific touches, like brass table tops and counters, were done well. The music was loud, but not overly so. Just loud enough to cover conversations at neighboring tables while allowing reasonable conversation at your own. This is a place to be revisited time and again!
Again, again, and again… I keep finding myself back at Tres Hombres in Chico. The taco bar is the place to be—especially on a Friday night after work. Happy hour tacos? Amazing. Margaritas? To. Die. For. And the vibe—honestly, it feels like summertime in Baja California 🌴🌊 The food is authentic, the pace is leisurely, and everyone there lets you slow down and breathe after a long week. Massive shoutout to Parker, Justin, Nate, Rob, Sutter, and Alexis! Every one of these guys has taken a moment to chat—even when they’re hustling—and that kind of human connection is pure gold. I’ve gotten to know a little about them, and they’ve learned a little about me. That’s simple, that’s genuine, and that’s honestly what makes the food taste even better. And let’s talk about winter—because when Chico gets chilly, their pozole is the comfort hug in a bowl we all need. Every time I walk in, it feels like my first time—fresh smiles, zero stress, warm energy, and plates that hit the spot every single time. Number one taco spot, hands down. 🌮 Highly recommend. Cheers to the people who make good food… and make you feel at home doing it. 🥂✨
Visited October 30th..see receipt as always. Went here to visit friends. This restaurant takes up a large corner spot off Broadway in Chico. We got there when they opened at 1130am. Full bar and inside and outdoor seating. They also have a taco bar which I thought was pretty awesome ! We ordered the combo with mole ( chocolate flavor). The enchilada was great tamale ok. Beans and cilantro rice was good. We had a margarita and a glass of red wine. Nice pour on the wine. They have complimentary chips and salsa. The house salsa was excellent..alittle spicy and alot of flavor. Terry also gave me spicy salsa which was awesome! There is plenty of seating and they also have happy hour and specials on certain days. PABLO our waiter was the most upbeat and friendliest server I have encountered in a long time! So pleasant and accommodating ! What an asset ! Great time and will be back for the taco bar when I am in the area!
We reserved the Blue Agave Room for my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. The service from Ethan was amazing. The food was delicious and the room was amazing. Our parents were and our guests were very happy with the set up! Thank you!
Great food and tasty margaritas. Friendly service and fantastic atmosphere. The indoor dining room is large and spacious which allows for comfortable conversation. There is also a good size outdoor ding area with shade. The location is great as it's downtown and right next to campus so there is a nice view also. I had birria tacos and my date had a birria burrito, I highly recommend either. The guacamole and salsa was delicious, but be warned the green salsa is spicy.
The food was amazing! Service was top notch! Considering we had a party of sixteen, the server was on it! Water and soft drinks stayed full, orders were correct and promptly delivered! Food was tasty and filling! It was a great time, we were well taken care of!
Fun food and drinks for the whole family. A Chico classic, a must-visit for visitors and locals. Fresh ingredients for a wide variety of dishes. Gorgeous presentation! Tres' wide array of dishes will leave you full. Their staff will treat you like royalty with food that justifies the moderate cost. A good value overall.
I am not always the biggest fan of Tres, however bartender Tim B. And the coconut prawns changed that today! First things first, Tim was busy and you could tell it had been a busy Sunday, yet he still greeted us with a smile and prompt service. He went the extra mile to explain the exact difference between the margarita in a pint glass vs in the larger glass. We ordered watermelon margaritas on the rocks with spice on the rim. I asked him to make mine with rum not tequila. We also ordered the prawns. Everything was perfect. Thank you Tim B. for being great. Tres thanks for the amazing Prawns.
Mostly good experience all around. Decent presentation, good flavor, great location. I ordered the Quesobirria tacos which were so so… had better in Davis at “El Burrito”.
The food was really good and our server did a great job. My kids both loved their food too. We went in around 5 pm and it was pretty busy but we got sat right away. It was loud inside and there were a lot of college students and people drinking ( full bar). If I go back, I will leave the kids with a sitter. I recommend it and would suggest this restaurant to friends
First off the wait staff are all amazing! They will treat you like you're the best no matter what the truth is! The margaritas we're awesome as usual. There's some funky enchilada mole sauce on the nachos that could be removed an actual cheese added haha! Tres Hombres is always a good option for margaritas and a good time!
Follow-up from Tres Hombres is much appreciated and reason enough to tip my meter from 3 to 4 stars. I'll definitely try their recommendations next time I'm in town. More to come... Take the time to read about then restaurant and building history. Great stories. As for the dining experience, it took longer than I would normally like to wait for our food to arrive, and for drink refills, but it was Choose Chico weekend, so we should probably let that slide. Staff very friendly. All the typical boxes for a Mexican-style restaurant were checked. Chips and salsa, good. Guacamole, good but could have used a bit more flavor. The Grande Hombre burrito was definitely enough for two meals, but the ingredients tasted like they were blended together. Still very good flavor, just not any texture I normally associate with monster sized burritos. Wish I had tried a Margarita; they looked delicious... But that definitely gives me another reason to go back. Looking forward to trying something else on the menu.
Always a favorite stop when in Chico. First. Great margaritas. The carnitas were on point as were the coconut prawns. Only disappointment was that they were not serving soup. It was still winter, cold and rainy. We were told they stopped making soup for the season. With our love of tortilla soup, we would order any time of the year with the possible exception of a hot summer day.
The drinks and food are amazing here. It gets busy and wait time for drinks/ food can be a little while, but it's worth it. I come for the margaritas, the chips/ salsa, and the tacos/ quesadillas.
Tres is a decent restaurant downtown, especially for happy hour. Good service, very nice place. The food is pretty middling in my opinion, and I’ve had various items from their appetizers to their entrees. It’s easily a go to spot with the girls though for happy hour after work!
Drinks were great, service was excellent, however the food was only okay. The food wasn't bad it just wasn't as good as expected. I'll try them again and order something else but for the price the food could've had more pop to it.
We were there for a private event in the Blue Agave Room. The tables were beautifully set and the buffet was okay. Although a bit slow, staff was there to pick up used plates from the tables, which was greatly appreciated. There was a separate no-host bar in the room. We had 5 margaritas for over $150+tip for a total of $192.20, so watch the cost of your drinks if you are on a budget. Overall, they did a good job and it is a convenient way to celebrate a birthday, company event, or get-together.
Would recommend! Inviting staff and overall aesthetic of the place was nice. Outdoor seating if you want with nice lights and pups allowed. I had heard the margaritas here were really good and let me tell you they were great!! We tried the avocado peach and the blackberry, both blended with a Tajin rim. Chefs kiss, they were delicious and we will be back for these again! We tried the quesabarilla tacos and the Baja tacos (pictured) which were tasty and did not disappoint . Several menu items looked and sounded good and were gluten free.
For starters, the food is definitely good. I usually go with the carne asada and ahi tuna fajitas. I feel like that is the most reasonably priced menu item for what you get. The prices on everything else are a little steep. The service is good. It's even better if they're not super busy, like late night on the weekends. The waiters/waitresses are always helpful, and can help you with suggestions if you're unsure on what to get. The drink options are pretty vast, and the bar is huge. With that being the case, it definitely gets pretty noisy and packed in there, so it's best to sit outside if you want to have a conversation. All-in-all, it's a good place to eat. Good place for dates. I feel like there are better options, though, if you're taking the family out for dinner.
We had arrived on Saturday around 2p with a party of 6 (4 adults / 2 teenage children). We were greeted and seated immediately. Please Note: *Restaurant was about 50% filled with patrons (inside and out). The bar was also busy with 50% of the stools occupied. Soon after being seated we received water & 1 bowl of chips with 2 salsas. Our waiter (Ulee) who was very busy (it appeared) touched our table with the message he would be right with us. A few minutes later he took our drink order - those came to our table within 5 mins. We continued to study the menu during that time and Ulee promised to be back in a few mins. Unfortunately he got busier (with more tables being added to his section). It took him another 10 mins to return to our table. Lunch order was taken and a few more drinks were ordered. During that time Ulee had to take a 30 min break (we found out by asking another floor associate where our waiter was and could someone retrieve our 2nd round of bar drinks - which were made and sitting at the bar / waiting for delivery). Not a smooth transition. Food arrived quickly - eye appealing, hot and delicious! Along with the great atmosphere of the restaurant, they were the Star of the Show! I did want to recognize Ulee (who by no fault of his own) had limited time with us. Carly who took over (his heavy load) and finished strong on the service side & Terry who was kept busy getting lots of extra chips for our table. We will return for some more of that great food and atmosphere and hopefully a little more timely engaged hospitality.
Food was delicious and had great flavor. We had the mole plate and the steak and carnitas fajitas. Our kids had the bean and cheese burrito which comes with sour cream inside. Was a surprise but she loved it. We ordered margaritas which were both tasty! Our only complaint was our service wasn't the best. We did come on a Friday night, but we got our drinks after our food arrived and it took a long time for our waiter to come check in on us at all during or after our meal. With that being said, we'd be back for the food and drinks.
I definitely enjoyed my meal. I got 2 fish tacos, one red snapper and one shrimp. The snapper was a little too sweet. I didn't enjoy feta cheese on them. I probably should have read the description. The salsa and chips were great. I also ordered a side of guacamole , it was delicious. My daughter got the beef tacos, they were very tender and tasty.
Came in on the last day of class with my Freshman. The restaurant was hoppin but we didn't need to wait for a seat. The waiter was friendly. The food was pretty good. I got a burrito and the girls both got enchiladas and tamales. My daughter didn't like the mole that comes on the tamales and they brought her a new tamale with no Mole. For some reason the drink refills were sooo slow, but the chips were refilled right away.
The Margaritas were pretty good but the food varied in our party of 7 from 2-4 stars subjectively. The menu is somewhat limited so I had hoped for higher quality over all. Definitely not authentic Mexican if that is what you are looking for. Even so if it is someones version I have a higher expectation of flavor and quality. From our servings the best was the coconut shrimp, middle the quesadillas, bottom was the Nachos. Our party of seven had an 18% gratuity automatically added which from my perspective was too much and inappropriate. Location was great. Service was fair.
I have been going to this restaurant for years and this week the entire menu is changed. There are new owners and my honest review includes a decrease in the quality of food and options. It is now an overpriced basic Mexican menu and there are many other places in the area with much better food for the cost. This is the first week of the new owners so hopefully there is a learning curve for the better.
A lot to like, but the carne asada in street tacos need a lot more trimming. I got mouthfuls of unswallowable gristle. They made new ones that were better. Great margaritas and food from a fun place. Better trimming --> better experience.
The pos systen was down so only cadh payments was accepted suppose to be special event with wife so had marquita and Left to go to another resturant.
We stopped in for a late lunch, happy hour and sat on the patio. Service was good. They were training a new gentleman. We had a couple dogs and their owners sit next to us. Cute dogs. However, they decided to moan and whine the entire time we were ordering and getting our food. I have a whiny dog at home so it was annoying. I must say this really isn’t Tres Hombres fault but theoretically it is….we had to transfer a table inside. Food was salty (we ordered the street tacos). Drinks were watered down. All in all, wasn’t the happiest of happy hours.
Margaritas 10/10! In my opinion, the blended strawberry piña colada margaritas are phenomenal. Food… it’s ok, used to be better.
Great downtown spot My Food was good (shrimp tacos). The complaint is the fajitas meat was very dry. Could of been the cook that night? but we came from out of town so it was disappointing for my wife. She only ate one and instead of taking the fajitas off the bill they offered a free dessert or a margarita for free which was a big difference in price. I think the manager needs to reevaluate the way he treats his customers. We won't be going back.
Waitress was good, not great, but pretty good. We had a reservation for (6) and we were seated immediately. Atmosphere is good, but the place is very loud and hard to hear people, even at your own table. The biggest issue is the food. The steak (Carne Asada) was pretty flavorless. Chicken was also flavorless and it was dry. The Pork (Carnitas) was actually pretty good. The street tacos had chewy and hard tortillas, they were left on the grill way too long, it was like chewing shoe leather. Guacamole is OK, could have used more salt and seasoning. The margaritas are good and had the appropriate amount of alcohol. Chips and Salsa were also pretty good (First batch was just on the edge of stale, but 2nd batch was better) Overall, for the price (Even with Happy Hour Prices), I really didn't think it was worth it. There are many other Mexican restaurants and even Taco Trucks that have much better food and quality standards for much cheaper. I honestly don't see myself going back.
Service was wonderful and our waitress was so great! BUT as you can see I’m giving 2 stars. I’ve been coming to tres hombres since I was 15 years old and have always loved the food! I got my usual 2 cheese enchiladas with rice and beans pretty simple… I don’t know who the new owners are or where they are getting the recipes for this new menu but the enchilada sauce was DISGUSTING to say the least. It tasted like a sugar cinnamon pastry but on enchilada.. I’m Soo disappointed as I have always loved this place but if the menu doesn’t change I won’t be back.
If you're looking for a great place to enjoy some delicious mezcal margaritas, Tres Hombres is the spot for you. The margaritas here are some of the best I've ever had, but the nachos aren’t what they used to be. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the outside seating area is cozy and comfortable. The heaters are a nice touch, and they can be easily turned off if you get too warm.
This place is a Chico classic and I realized my wife had never been. The last time I was there I was a kid. We went for dinner and sat outside. The wait staff was organized, kind and efficient. We didn't order any drinks and only ordered food two salads. I must say I was quite disappointed. It seemed fresh but lacked flavor and the ratio of ingredients were out of whack. Maybe it's not their forte but I've heard similar reviews from friends. Seems people come here for the drinks, which is fine.
Not the place to go if you want a quiet meal...very loud!
The positive review part: margaritas! Always ask for them to be a double. The bad review part: ordered the "Fiesta of tacos" for $40. Should have paid more attention to the details of what was included because it was just meat on a tortilla. No cheese. No beans and rice. Nothing extra. Basically they should describe it as 10 plain street tacos. The did include onions and cilantro. And I did request request all 4 different types of their salsas. The salsa quantity wasn't bad. I got the meal to go so I didn't get to see what I was walking out with prior. They put it in a big box for you, making you think it's a lot of food or heavy. Not not not! Mathing out to be like $4 per plain taco. Don't waste your money. You're better off going to a taco truck and ordering 10 tacos and paying 1/3 the price.
What once was is gone. Despite some good members on staff (and some very much not), the Tres Hombres of past is dead and will not be revived due to misguided efforts of more recent ownership. The blended, fruity margaritas are still fantastic but a restaurant is a sum of it's parts. Anyone who had visited Tres Hombres many years ago would visit today and likely never return because anything they may have loved to eat has been removed from the menu and replaced with worse and unappetizing food. Your restaurant is made up of more than your ambition, there are people who want to love your food and people want to love working in a fruitful, respectful environment. When you ignore these things, these people, and push some ideas that has proven not to work, you need to put your pride aside and look to the past then learn. Or don't then perish.
We made the mistake of coming on Wednesday when it is super busy, granted we did make a reservation. But the wait was super long. And many tables weren’t cleaned for awhile (probably due to busy) as well as they didn’t give us plates to eat on during dinner, just the plates our food was served on. As well as we never got our chips refilled after we finished while waiting.
The booths were not cleaned off as I sat in something sticky that was not visible due to the dark lighting. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said he was so sorry and didn't mention anything to a bus boy or anything to clean it. The sticky gunk got stuck to my pants so i had a gunk spot on my light blue pants the rest of the day. Whoever sat in the booth after my husband and I probably sat in it too. Yuck. We each ordered margaritas but they severely under poured us. They were delicious but we didn't order virgin margs. Food was okay but the enchiladas portion size was teeny tiny. Nachos were okay but felt like a taco truck could do better. This was a great spot to go a decade ago when I was a student at Chico State but it is no longer what it once was.
I ordered the fajitas and they were really gross!! It was mushy and over spiced. I was told new management took over and food is going to be better now. Nope not at all!! I paid a lot of $$ for my meal I could have made better actually. The margaritas are good tho but now its come down to just eating chips salsa and drinks. They also took the happy hr food menu away.
Service was absolutely amazing. Kudos to our waitress. The tacos were served on what seemed to be undercooked flavorless tortillas. The salsa chips tasted stale and the dipping salsas were too salty or not flavorful. The meats and shrimps had absolutely no flavor. Been eating plenty of authentic Mexican food from all over Mexico. It's a shame that it was that bad. Maybe if you don't have a good reference to authentic food, you might find it acceptable. For the price, we should have gone to a taco truck. Hope they get better cooks and recipes.
I've tried to like this restaurant and have dined here many times for lunch and for dinner. This last attempt both myself and my husband ordered fish tacos. VERY BAD. The tacos had very little meat and the meat it did have smelled bad. My drink was weak. Guess this is still not a place for me. Great service! However I made an online reservation and arrived to the staff indicating they didn't show I had a reservation. I had a text to my phone earlier in the day confirming my reservation. At least we didn't have to wait for our bad food.
Good drinks and good vibes, but the camarones a la diabla dish was not good at all. The tortillas were tough, the rice was burnt, and the camarones a la diabla was super super bland. I split it with a friend and she agreed wholeheartedly. They were very nice and took it off the bill, which was very appreciated.
Pollo Estafado there is the worst meal I have ordered in my life! No exaggeration. $21 for the most bland plate of food I have ever tasted. Beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere but the chef should be fired. Boggled how the place gets 4 stars.
I cannot stress enough how bad this place has turned out to be. Aside from the only thing they have going for themselves which are the lovely workers, the food is insulting to the Hispanic community. Nothing is authentic and coming from someone who actually tried most of the food items, I only looked forward to taco bar and the pre made margaritas but to each their own.
This restaurant was horrible. The food was absolutely tasteless and looked more like piled leftovers into a plate. The worst part however was the very disgusting and poor customer service. The workers were completely unhelpful unless they were serving a table of their friends. We asked for the check several times and each time our waitress said she would bring it but it took forever. We could see her walking around hanging out with various people at different tables. When we asked the hostess for help getting the check she too was rude and unhelpful. Rather than helping she shunned us and went back to her group of friends that surrounded the front counter. It felt like we were in a grade school classroom with a substitute teacher. It wasn't clear who was running the place, it felt like it was being run by a bunch of lazy students who could care less about doing their job. Seemed like they were there to hang out at a bar and socialize than serve paying customers. I will never return there. On the other hand, I suppose it is the perfect bar for locals wanting to hang out with their friends who work there.
A health inspector would fail this establishment & it definitely needs to go out of business. Trash service. Garbage food. When we walked in, we weren't even greeted by the hostess, who looked irritated that we were even there, and cared more about loudly chewing gum than being burdened by doing actual work. Following, we had a server who didn't bring waters or utensils until after our dinner came out (and we still had to ask). The food felt like an afterthought because our server was very persistently trying to sell alcoholic drinks to the non-drinker of our group, even after he was told. Worse, the food was dumped off without hardly a word, and the burritos were basically pure rice. Our order was incorrect as well, and surprise, nobody cared. Oh, and there were only maybe four or five tables with people, of which most looked to be done, so the service staff just hung out in the back on their phones instead of doing anything at all. The floor was very visibly filthy. Gross.
Food was horrible. We were a table of 4 and all meals were terrible, had to cut a chicken enchilada with a knife, sauce was cold and uneatable, our server (Heather) was very accommodating and kind. Hopefully owners will restore Food the way it use to be.
food is expensive and awful. Don't buy beef from here, it's pure cartilage, gristle and the cheapest cuts. However, the atmosphere is great. They only are around because of where they are located.
Honestly very disappointing. Used to be my regular hang out with cocktails. The food is absolutely garbage, birra tacos more like saggy, cheap taco shell. We also got fajitas. The meat was so tough that it wasn’t worth eating because it was more of a jaw work out than anything. It’s white washed Mexican that’s a step up from Taco Bell but not by much. I know it’s under new ownership, I hope they see this, and apply it to better their restaurant. Won’t be coming back.
I visit family in Chico and always made tres hombres my bucket list place to eat. What happened? The place was over half empty. Our waitress sat us and disappeared. Finally stopped by to ask about drinks. Our menus were open on the table so obvious we were going to order food. Dropped our drinks off and left. Came back after awhile and asked if that was all or are we going to eat???. We ordered fish tacos an coconut shrimp. We had to stop her multiple times for silverware, had to ask for salsa for our chips, one dish came out but no tacos. Stopped her again and asked about tacos. She had forgotten them. The came and tasted horrible. We did not eat them. We won't be back.
Came with 3 of my friends here on a Sunday. We hadn't eaten here in a long time but remembered how good the food was. What a total disappointment!!! Enchilada's were tasteless and a little over cooked; rice close to burnt with no taste except "hot". Beans tasted like cardboard. My friends who had fish tacos said they were tasteless. Though our waiter was very friendly, it took forever to get sugar for my tea and refills. We should've gone to Chili's where the food is delicious and service is excellent! Unfortunately, we will not be coming back😕!!
My husband and I went there to get dinner. bill was like 90 bucks for some fish tacos that had some type of cut apples on the side?? That was odd and it had more breading than actual fish, it was dissapointing. My husband got a plate of chile verde which had way too much cumin, it just gave him major heartburn. Overall, the food was NOT GOOD. The Upside of this tragic date night was that they have clase azul tequila at the bar so that was nice.
Great atmosphere because the building is nice and it’s downtown Chico but other than that come on.. Food is OK, but not even in the top 100 Mexican restaurants in Chico counting the food trucks… This was our second time going there and it’s disappointing. There was a big hair in the salsa. They didn’t knock off any of the price I didn’t ask anyways. But I’m just surprised at this place is open… Right across the street is Acca taco which is awesome food. The one on Nord is even better. But this food is not very authentic and it’s just not that great. You’re better off going to La Comida and that’s no shade on la Comida Because it’s bomb, but it’s not authentic. Chevys, they used to be downtown was better than this.
