Fantastic spot to have breakfast! The staff is incredibly friendly and turned very enthusiastic the moment I mentioned it was my first time visiting. They will take the time to describe meal options and will offer suggestions based on their personal favorites. The food and seasonal drinks are all delicious! The restaurant has a cute hometown feel and decor with indoor seating, however, there are also many options to sit outside and enjoy breakfast outdoors (when the weather is nice of course). I highly recommend stopping by, it's worth it!
I crave RF every day We have been a weekly patron to the rooted fork for almost 3 years. I have never ordered anything other than the chefs choice. This chef I don’t think has any idea I exist, but he peers into my soul every Thursday with these dishes. It’s always what my heart desires and requires. I suggest always spicy It’s my favorite place to eat. It’s a damn shame they aren’t open on mondays or Sunday night for dinner. I ALWAYS want rooted fork for breakfast Mondays.
Delicious food! The Forky Bowl is a good 3 meal portion for me and I can't wait for the leftovers! (Photo is a full size container, after I ate a third of it!) Small space inside, having to crowd inside the front door waiting to order was a bit chaotic but they got us through pretty quick. Coffee was great and came out fast. Heated patio seating and lots of picnic tables, great atmosphere. The staff doesn't wait on you/check on you, but were all very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for a small town stop. Come with a big appetite!
We love this place, we usually go for breakfast and the servings are large. Usually need a to go container! The mimosas are good. The inside is kind of small and can get crowded but if it’s a nice day, they have lots of picnic tables outside. It is in downtown Cibolo and there are other cute places you can walk to after you eat.
[Update: 12/07/2025] Another fantastic brunch at Rooted Fork. I was greeted by the pleasant, diligent staff member Kaylee, who was both friendly and very accommodating. She knew the menu well and recommended great options based on what I like. After I ordered, she checked in to make sure everything was to my liking and, without me even asking, brought over boxes and a bag for leftovers. I laughed and told her, “You read my mind!” Food-wise, I highly recommend the Steak Hash (hold the salsa verde if you are spice-sensitive like me) and the white chocolate latte. Bravo to Kaylee for her hard work, professionalism, and bright smile. Keep up the amazing work, Kaylee and Rooted Fork! [Original] This is a delayed review for one of my favorite mom-and-pop restaurants in the area. It is located on Main St in Cibolo, diagonally across Harmon's BBQ. They also have a small gravel parking lot as well as another lot across, if it gets busy so parking typically isn't an issue. I most recently ordered the steak hash, which was amazingly flavorful, pleasant yet a bit tangy to your taste buds, filling (was 2.5 meals for me) and well presented. The coffee are always done very well. Staff are always smiley, friendly and helpful. The ambiance is quite homey and can get a bit clamorous at times when all the guests are speaking, though if you like a lively environment this will not disappoint. You may also choose to sit outside, which may be a bit calmer. Because of the good food, friendly staff, and homey feeling, will always come back when I'm in the area to continue trying more items on their menu! Keep up the good work, Rooted Fork!
Wonderful food! The steak breakfasts are exceptional. Also, the handcrafted coffees and mimosas make the entire breakfast worth every bite (or sip). There is indoor and outdoor seating. The only concern I have is the access to the front counter is too close to the front door, which means customers can get in the way of wait staff delivering food.
My husband and I have been here a few times already and each time has been great. The staff is amazing, and so patient considering how busy they quickly become. Inside eating offers a quiet and cozy atmosphere. However, the outdoors is usually where we sit and enjoy the views of downtown Cibolo. Great date place, or a place if you're just wanting to enjoy a few mimosas with friends 🩷
Scrumptious Brunch! Ate here 9/21/25. Adorable place in the heart of old Cibolo. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Charming interior and cute decor. Friendly staff and clean bathrooms. Food was amazing and portions were large. Order at counter, self serve drinks, food was delivered in about 15-20 minutes. Shopping and other attractions within walking distance. Gravel and paved parking beside building. Will definitely eat here again!!
The food here is amazing! Very delicious, the portions are huge, the staff are so nice and attentive. Well worth the price. We got the biscuits and sausage gravy(the biscuits were so soft and fluffy), the steak omelette(absolutely amazing and bursting with flavor), fried pickles(perfect amount of breading, flavorful and the dip that comes with it has such an amazing taste), the Texas Breakfast(my son very much enjoyed it), the Lil Fork Mac-n-Cheese(meant for kids and the amount is huge!), and the apple pie pancakes(these were DIVINE! Tastes just like apple pie!) I would recommend this place to everyone. If you’re in the area, drop on in! You won’t regret it!
Had Father’s Day breakfast here and it was delicious. We came at 10am on a Sunday and it was really easy to get a table! Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I had the sweet potato hash and it was delicious, and we shared the Bananas Foster Pancakes and they were insane
Wow This is a great place. As soon as we walked in serenity, greeted us and served us with professionalism kindness and with courtesy, the place is gorgeous, the food was amazing, and the next time we come in, we definitely will come by 2 see serenity and the whole gang, everybody. There is very polite. And this is a place I would go over and over again, you must stop by and see this place.
This is a great spot for brunch in Cibolo. The menu has enough choices and it’s not overwhelming. It’s a walk up, order and pay counter. Paying in cash will get you a discount. Thinking the portions would be small, we ordered biscuits and sausage gravy (to share), the little fork (wasn’t little at all) and the forky bowl. Everything was served piping hot and HUGE portions. Jessica was super friendly and checked on us frequently.
We've been to several places for breakfast, but Rooted Fork takes the bait. You get large portions, and it is all delicious. I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy with two eggs over medium. After I inhaled that, even as full as I was, I started picking at the stack of pancakes I was sharing with my wife. Suffice to say I did not eat anything else the rest of the day.
The food was not only scrumptious, they had very large portions. The eggs beni was amazing! The eggs were done perfectly and the sauce was delicious! We also had the trashy eggs on a bed of hash browns. So good and I could not even eat half of it. Definitely will return and the atmosphere is busy but they have plenty of outdoor seating if your looking for a quiet place.
This unique breakfast spot was an unexpected delight! The portion sizes were very generous. The food came out hot and delicious. The service friendly, inviting, attentive. They went above and beyond for My parents who enjoy their coffee scalding hot. They made fresh americanos for them so the coffee was extra hot for them. The staff checked on us twice while seated at the table. I hope to be back tomorrow with the rest of my family!
The breakfast was fantastic. The staff greeted us with a smile and had quick service. Whatever spice they had on the sausage was delicious. The menu has a variety to choose from. The fresh squeezed orange juice was sweet, and a good portion sized. The restaurant has a cute hometown feel and decor. The eating area indoors is small but they additional seating on the wrap-around porch and picnic tables out front. When the weather is cooler it would be a perfect spot to enjoy a meal with coworkers, friends, or family. If you are in the area, I recommend stopping by for a bite to eat or a seasonal drink.
I brought a friend on April 11th & my family on April 14th. We have been here several times before. So the visit on 4/11 was good we sat outside we ordered a Fruit bowl, Texas Hash, The Texas Breakfast. The waitress we had that day was Amazing. She checked on us. And had a 1-2 minute conversation with us which was really nice! A++++++ for customer service. The second visit we sat inside! It was so so many flies it was bothersome but we dealt with the situation at hand. We ordered a Yogi Bowl, Egg Beni's and The Forky Bowl & The Texas breakfast. The tater tots were over over cooked. But we didn’t want to have to wait for them to re- cook them. We had to wait 30 mints for food which was fine because we talked, shooed flies away and talked to other customers. So we made the time pass. But we shouldn’t have gotten messed up food after waiting a long time to get it! Everything else was good! The one waitress that spoke to us was very nice. I did want to ask is there any way to raise the tea dispensers because at times it’s hard to get the tea out! & maybe some fly plugin traps. 🙂
The food was amazing, minus the missing side of bacon that we didn't receive. And the fact that it was getting cold because I still hadn't received utensils after far too long. That was the problem, the service. I was rushed through my initial order process and made to pay for the others that I was with who had already ordered, not having time to order because a few groups walked in behind me. That led to me having to step back in line to place my order. She was such in a rush the second time that she rung my ticket number up as 16... when it should have been 91. I only know this because they couldn't find me to bring my mimosa flight. Which, by the way... I'll go without next time. There was so much syrup on the bottom it made my jaws clench. I didn't care much for the orange juice either. I'll probably still come back after a while. The meal really was that good.
We visited this locals' favorite on a Sunday, early afternoon. Taking advantage of the brunch/lunch options, we ordered the Texas Cheesesteak and Texas Breakfast. Both were underwhelming, and failed to deliver on taste. The highlight of our visit was the Down the Hatch, an espresso based drink with vanilla and sweet cream. The dining room is small, and the team was struggling to keep it clean even though traffic was moderate. I was frustrated when I was unable to pour my tea ... the spout was at a trickle. There are better brunch/lunch options, and I can't recommend Rooted.
Today was our first visit to The Rooted Fork. From the outside, it appeared to be a cute, inviting spot, so we were looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill almost immediately. As we walked up, a server exited carrying multiple cups of water for a large party. The cups were stacked, and she had one finger inside each cup of water to balance them. As someone with 25 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, this was immediately concerning and unsanitary. I chose not to confront staff in the moment, but it definitely set the tone. At the counter, the digital menu listed prices for Monday–Friday only, despite it being Saturday, which caused confusion. We also noticed a credit card surcharge — not a dealbreaker on its own, but another frustration. What ultimately made us leave was the lack of service. We attempted three separate times to ask questions about the menu and were completely ignored. Between the food safety concern, unclear menu information, and lack of basic customer acknowledgment, we no longer felt comfortable ordering. We left without eating. Overall, a very disappointing first impression.
This was our first visit to The Rooted Fork. From the outside it looked charming, and we were excited to try it. Almost immediately, I noticed something concerning. As we arrived, a server came out carrying several cups of water stacked together for a large table. To balance them, she had her fingers inside the cups of water. This made us uncomfortable from a hygiene standpoint and affected our confidence in the restaurant. When we reached the counter, the digital menu only showed Monday–Friday pricing, even though it was a Saturday, which was confusing. We also noticed there was an added charge for using a credit card. We then tried multiple times to ask staff questions about the menu but were not acknowledged. After being ignored several times and already feeling uneasy, we decided not to order and left. Sadly, it was a disappointing first and last visit.
Used to be favorite place for breakfast on Saturdays with shrimp Benedict for last 5 years. since they took it off menu, haven't been back. 90% of time diced potatoes are under cooked. Can never really tell how your food turns out, food quality is based on attitude and how the staff feels that day. Sometimes you get utensils and sides you paid for, other times you get told where to go to get them or have to argue your way for what you paid for. You are either fighting for the 6 tables inside, or for the 10 dirty tables with bugs outside. Food is completely over price. FYI their $30 champagne bottle is $4 in any store.
I order from here about once a month. The last time I ordered I mentioned something was off. The food wasn't quite as good as it usually is. Today I ordered from there and ended up throwing away the food and feed some to the dogs, because they don't care what they eat. I attached a few photos to show how bad the food was this round and the portions alot smaller than usual. I'll start off with the side of bacon that was old, dry and so crispy if you touch it, it turned into bacon bits with no flavor. The dogs liked it. The Loaded Mac and Cheese, well it was so full of water that's all you could taste with a hint of cheese flavoring. Threw that away since it didn't taste fresh either. The Pancake had a very small amount of chocolate chips that you pay extra for. It was dry, definitely was not soft and fluffy like they have been in the past. My husband's eggs were ordered sunny side up and they came almost fried. He picked them up and fed them to the dogs too. No runny yolk whatsoever on his and my scramled, came in hard scrambled. I can't say they are having a bad day since this is the second time this has happened in the last month. It's hard to support local when this has happened more than once in the last month and you see the food going downhill, tasteless and old. I would rather spend my $70 somewhere else.
Jessica took my order and was very nice but didn't add a side of bacon that I asked for. So $19.94 for biscuits and gravy, 2 scrambled eggs and coffee. You pay and tip before you eat. Jessica told me it would be 30 minutes on the gravy because the cook was making it. It was 8:15 in the morning and they're out of gravy. I had been searching for great gravy biscuits in San Antonio, so I waited. Everyone said this place was great. Maryssa brought my food. No bacon. It wasn't rung up. So that was another $4.50. The gravy was tasteless. Marysss acted like I was disturbing her morning. She wasn't nice til she realized I was not pleased with my visit and might ask for my tip to be refunded. I really had high hopes and had tapped the 25% forced tip when I placed my order. Won't make that mistake again. So...$19.94 plus $4.99 tip plus the forgotten bacon $4.50 for a grand total of $29.43 for 1 person. Oh, did I tell you that you have to get your own drink, coffee refill and silverware. So she got a $4.99 tip to bring my plated food, not say a word and walk off. WONT BE BACK!
I placed an order over the phone at 1125 AM this morning under my fiancé’s name. He arrived to the store and got the food. However, I received a phone call from a woman stating that my fiancé didn’t pay for his food. She was very upset (assuming she thought he was stealing it; when he was at the place, waiting in line, etc.).. I called him and he told me they had two registers open taking payments from other customers, however, they simply called his name and told him he can go and GAVE him the food (he had to go back and pay which we had our food cold because of this inconvenience). My issue is IF someone were to come pick up their order, should you tell them to pay first OR check if the order WAS paid prior (online or over the phone) BEFORE giving out the food. I don’t know who gave him the food but they should’ve doubled check before giving it to him. Next time the establishment needs to ensure that employees check if the customer has paid for the food. If not, they need to COMMUNICATE with the customer to verify that the food has been paid or not. 1151 AM he just came home and the order is WRONG. It was very embarrassing and we will NOT come back. Will not recommend to any friends or family. We will stick with Williams Confectionery Crafts, Full Belly, Comfort Cafe or Soufflé Cafe. Seriously, take notes.
