I am visiting this region of New York for a work related job and wanted to find a decent Indian restaurant. Indian cuisine is some of my favorite and back home in Virginia we do have a couple of local spots that are my go-to. I was looking up Indian restaurants on my phone when I immediately checked into my hotel and the first one that popped up was Spice Malabar. I saw that they had a lunch buffet and a very extensive menu consisting of traditional dishes. I ended up having the lunch buffet due to my work schedule and it was delicious. All of the staff was super friendly and welcoming. The buffet had been open for a couple of hours and I just happened to get there around 2 PM with about an hour remaining before the buffet was to be shut down for the day. The kitchen staff was constantly rotating fresh hot trays of entrees and rice with nothing getting scorched or dried out in near empty containers. I was impressed that they brought out a small basket of naan bread and a potato stuffed papadom to my table. I filled my plate with a scoop full of several dishes and piled on small appetizers and aromatic basmati rice. The flavor, the spice level, and the overall quality of the items were amazing. This is one of the best Indian buffets I’ve ever had. It was a very positive, aromatic, delicious, and filling experience. I’m only in town for approximately two more weeks and I will most definitely be returning to Spice Malabar before I go back home.
Absolutely the best Indian Food in the area! This place is just perfection, the food is amazing, the staff is friendly and incredibly accommodating, the atmosphere is divine and the prices are sooo reasonable. It has become a weekly stop for me and my husband and we are still trying new things on the menu. Highly recommend
Wow! From the second you walk in, you are hit with the wonderful spice smells! Food is amazing! Portion sizes huge. Small plate...samosa chaat...out of the world delicious, meat sampler- chicken with sooo many different spices...good luck picking your favorite! Naan...paneer and garlic chili....best naan ever. And then our dinners arrived...lamb madras and goat rogan josh....as with the small plates, we split our dinners....both were excellent. Served with rice. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow! If you love Indian food, this is the place to go! If you have never tried Indian food, try Spice Malabar, you wont be disappointed. Wow! Can't wait to go again!
We stopped here after I had a car accident and my husband felt sorry for me and agreed to take me. He does not usually like Indian food. Tony recommended to him what he might like and he loved it. We will definitely be back!! Best Indian food in the area!!!
We discovered Spice Malabar last month. The food and service is top notch. The third time we visited was on Valentines Day. Tony took care of us all three times and all three times we had Tony decide our entire order letting him know my allergy to Soy. The best each and every time. Thank you for always providing a wonderful experience and the best suggestions. Keep up the good work Tony and team!!
If you have a spare $35 on hand, treat yourself to the amazing food at the Spice Malabar. Consistent, quality service and delicious food are delivered on every visit. I personally recommend the Lamb Saag - I can’t handle anything too spicy hot, but this dish meets you in the middle with amazing creamy spice yet keeps your nostrils intact. 10/10 restaurant in the 518 area.
We ordered Chili Mushroom today and it left me speechless. It was amazing. It was one of the best vegetarian dishes that I have eaten. There is no better Indian vegetarian food then the one in Spice Malabar. They do not only have amazing food but amazing staff that greet and talk with us politely like we are family. The restaurant itself has an amazing vibe. Thank you so much for this great food. This Chili Mushroom especially is a must TRY!
Exceptional food, service, and experience! They have a wide variety of dishes and great vegetarian and vegan options. I can try something different and exciting every time and they of course have classic must haves like Palaak, Dosa, nice Chai, and delicious Naan. All the staff is kind, courteous and helpful. The price is good considering how much leftovers you can get as well. I'll keep coming back every time I'm in the area.
I have been frequenting Spice Malabar for a few years and it is hands down the best Indian restaurant in the area. They have maintained consistency in taste, quality and service over the years. They recently catered my wedding and all of our guests had rave reviews about the food. I would 10/10 recommend the Palak Chaat for your next catering event. It was the crowd favourite! Huge shoutout to Tony, who made this recommendation.
Hands down one of the best places for Indian Food in the Capital Region. The staff is courteous, friendly, attentive and welcoming. They understand your request and ensure the food is prepared as per your taste palette. The dishes were rich in flavor, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. A must-visit for anyone who loves great Indian cuisine!
I didn't expect great things from this restaurant: usually, when you're going out to eat on Christmas, you take what you can get. But Spice Malabar is worth seeking out no matter what other options are available. I ordered goat rogan josh, one of my favorite dishes, and my companion ordered lamb masala. The maitre d' asked if we would also like appetizers, and when we hesitated over a choice, said, "I'll bring you something. If you don't like it, I'll take it off the bill." What we were served was a crispy spinach dish with tamarind and other seasonings. It was absolutely delicious, but more important, the recommendation is to me an indication of a good restaurant. The service was impeccable, friendly, perfectly paced, never intrusive but always present when we needed it. Our entrees were superb, served with basmati rice as is typical, but the rice was very well prepared and exceptionally fluffy. We didn't order cocktails or look at the wine list, opting for a pilsner from Adirondack Brewery. It was a great choice to accompany our meal. Rasmalai and gulab jamun for dessert, and plenty of leftovers to take home. This restaurant is definitely on my go-to list!
Another trip to this wonderful restaurant to have a meal with our son and daughter in law. The smells were amazing just walking in the door. The food was excellent and the staff was attentive without being overbearing. I had the Lamb Chettinadu and it had lovely spice with a good black pepper taste.
Very clean, simple and inviting atmosphere where food is the star. Something for everyone who enjoys the warmth and comfort of dishes perfectly spiced. The variety is what keeps me coming back. Vegans and vegetarians will find numerous selections that are just as flavorful as those with meat. Enjoy the detailed descriptions provided for each recipe so there are no surprises to the palate. Staff is always welcoming.
Bring here is an exceptional experience. The management - servers - bar staff and dining room are perfect. We've traveled and experienced many different Indian restaurants. This is by far the best restaurant in Clifton Park. notably better than other Indian restaurants in the Capital District. Tucked away in a small plaza is a sweet experience. We always go for dinner but want to go for Sunday buffet. Prices are great for such generous portions with fresh rice to go. Entrees customizable for spice level. Best appetizer: Palak Chaat. Favorite drink: Mango Cosmo. Every time it's perfect Thank you for being so kind to us. We will tell more friends! They never miss a thing!
This place is phenomenal. The dosas are excellent, everything we've had was extraordinary. The lunch buffet is a fantastic way to sample their menu. Flavors are spicy, (not everything is hot), ask your server if you don't like heat. Seasoning is delicious, complex and nuanced. We have never had a negative experience here. The service and atmosphere.are great. The owner is lovely too. This is the best Indian food north of Manhattan. Spicy and delicious. This is our favorite restaurant in the capital region.
The food and cocktails were fantastic! The spicy dishes were SPICY—they do not mess around—anything above one pepper is going to rock your world. The service was great and the restaurant was beautiful. Their menu is huge and they have the largest vegan section I’ve ever seen! I also couldn’t believe how cheap everything was compared to your average restaurant. Definitely recommend checking this place out!
Someone suggested this is one of the best Indian restaurant in town, so it was worth trying, even if it's far north. It stands out. Great food, in good proportion, and beautifully decorated. Ask to make it spicy if you like. But the main reason I keep coming to this place is the courteous staff, they make a good conversation and offered extra rice for takeout without asking. One issue though is excessive use of cream in gravy that makes you so full. I could only eat one third of curry even when I'm very hungry.
I can confidently say this is the best "butter chicken" aka chicken makhani that I've ever had. The flavor was incredible and the chicken was fall apart tender. The spice level was riding the edge for me but I'm not very tolerant to spice so for most I'm sure it would be fine. I'm excited to try more menu items here For my second timing eating here I dined in, service was great and food was as delicious as I remembered! Pictured is the Palak Chaat as an appetizer, great recommendation from the server. As well as chicken makhani with garlic and onion naan For my third visit- tandoori chicken wings which had amazing flavor and were so moist. The menu has one hot pepper but I didn't find them too spicy and I'm fairly intolerant, so don't be scared of the spice here. I also tried chicken korma which was so flavorful. Amazing as always.
This was my first time eating at this restaurant and everything was as delicious as I thought it would be. All the staff was very welcoming and friendly, everything came out pretty quickly and the leftovers were delicious the next day. I would highly recommend that you come visit and bring your family and friends! 😋👍🏼🍽️
This Indian restaurant is 5 stars all the way!! Was very impressed with the quantity and authenticity of the food. The staff was amazing and more than accommodating. If you are looking for high-quality and authentic Indian food, this has to be the best place in the area. I was very satisfied and even ordered more food to go after dinner. I had the Lamb Phaal, which was spicy and well prepared. That is hard to find here in the States. Price wise they are very reasonable too, especially for the apps and breads! Highly recommend! A++
I recently visited this South Indian restaurant, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a relaxed dinner. The service was top-notch, with friendly staff ensuring that we were well taken care of throughout our meal. The food was authentic and flavorful, making it a perfect spot for anyone craving traditional South Indian cuisine. It’s definitely worth visiting, especially with a group of family or friends. A delightful evening overall—highly recommended!
I recently went to Spice Malabar for dinner, and it was an incredible experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, which can be perfect for a casual meal or special occasions. The menu had a good variety, and everything we ordered was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, and I loved how they were open to making recommendations based on our preferences. If you’re in the Capital District and craving gooooood Indian food, I highly recommend checking out Spice Malabar. Can’t wait to go back.

Tasty food, they have a chili cauliflower that I enjoy and don't see often at other Indian restaurants. service has always been great.
Spice Malabar in Clifton Park is a Kerala cuisine (Indian) restaurant known for serving authentic Indian dishes. We visited a bit late, so we couldn’t fully enjoy the experience as the staff seemed in a hurry to close. That said, Spice Malabar still stands out as one of the top Indian restaurants in the area
If I could, I’d eat here at least once a week. It is the best Indian food in the 518. Entire vegan section on the menu, but by no means the extent of their vegan options. Plenty of gluten-free stuff, too. The staff is knowledgeable about ingredients and the menu has allergens clearly labeled. The portions are huge and the dishes go far beyond what other Indian places in the area have. Lots of unique combinations of flavors and wild spice levels.
