We go here every single year we head up to the Peak. The food is always good here, just takes a little bit of time to actually get your food. Other than that we all liked out meals and will be back again next year.
Building is older and not what one would term "chic", but they serve the best chicken wings on the planet. Don't be discouraged by the humble outside or humble indoor decor. The food is superb, drinks are cold and fresh, and service is excellent. We go often, and are never disappointed.
After a round of golf at peek'n peak we were recommended to come here. Great atmosphere and food. Love the little liquor store out back. Will definitely come again when we return to play golf.
We stopped here after a day on the mountain, and it did not disappoint! The food is great, as was the service! Don’t let the dive bar vibe fool you- this spot is a gem!
We were on a road trip and asked a local about a place to eat, this was their recommendation. Phenomenal wings with their own sauces, cooked to perfection. The staff was very friendly and helpful in this tavern. This will be a 3 hour drive that we will take when we want wings again!
Great prices, great food, great staff!! This place has everything you need and more. It reminds me of an old school buffalo bar in all the good ways. Family friendly and something for everyone even picky kids. The findley fire balls are addictive. They make you feel like your part of the family that is French Creek.
We went to Peek and Peak and there wasn't a whole lot to choose from to eat in the area. The General Manager of Peek and Peak told us about French Creek Tavern. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was awesome and the food was good with hearty portions. Don't be afraid to bring the kids, as they are family friendly. A fun, relaxing atmosphere.
This is the best restaurant for miles around. They are mostly known for their chicken wings. They serve whole wings from roasting chickens which look like they came from ostriches. I can't imagine anyone leaving hungry. We took half our wings home. The beer is cold and there is a reasonable selection. This place also has what has been described as New York's smallest liquor store in the back. My understanding is that the place has no heat, so they can only serve liquor that doesn't freeze. The service was friendly and efficient.
Dive bar with super friendly staff and surprisingly good food. The wings truly were awesome. Don't be intimidated by the modest appearance This is a place worth stopping for. Oh, and the fried pickles were quarter spears worthy of a shot!
The food here is excellent. Me and my friends weren't sure where to eat so we came here last night. Everyone was friendly, service was fast, and everything was delicious. They even have a little "arcade" room with games and a pool table. I 10/10 recommend coming here with friends or family. Delicious!
Made reservations for 24 people for lunch, small facility, but large enough to accommodate all of us. Staff was very pleasant, helpful, food was reasonably priced, very big menu to choose from, food prep was great, everyone commented highly on the quality of their food order.
2nd visit. We chose the same fish fry and it was better than our first time. The wife had hers broiled and had butter for dipping. Awesome. Waffle fries or natural. At least 5 beers on tap great for a country tavern 20 miles from a city.
We hadn't been there since last summer. We wanted a nice ride so put the French Creek Tavern into our GPS. Excellent ride and EXCELLENT LUNCH!!! Their chicken wings and hamburgers are AWESOME!!! Well worth the ride down!!!!!
Best wings in the country!! This little hole in the wall bar has had the best wings for years. Just minutes from peak n peak resort makes this a must go to if visiting the peak.
Best wings in all of the Western NY area, that includes better wings than Duffs and Anchor bar hands down. Great staff
Food was very good, the service was welcoming and efficient. It’s a cozy friendly place that makes you feel at home.
Amazing food. Great prices. Snowmobile accessible due to being located along the NY state trail system. When you order food you get a large amount... there fish dinner practically requires two plates. Salad bar available. Pool table, game room, and free shuffle board. Non smoking environment.
Extra-hot wings were outstanding, good pizza, so happy they put fried cauliflower back on the menu. Who eats cauliflower unless it's breaded and fried? Service there is always great, very friendly staff. Southern tier on tap is another bonus. Left there with a good case of the meat-sweats.
You would never expect the food t be as good as it was. I love the fact that this is a small hole in the wall in the middle of no where! Best kept secret in NY! The wings are incredible with so many unique flavors, cranch, & jambo are my first choice. You can’t leave here without having the sweet potato fries with the brown sugar dipping sauce. All I can say is WOW I left with no socks cause the flavor knocked them off. And of course I had no room left so I had to get a tavern burger to go. The prices are very cheap too. Thank you for not changing anything!
Hadn't been here in 10 years. Nothing has changed, attentive staff, excellent service and the food is delicious. Highly recommend the Tavern burger or the fish yummm 😋
Don't let the exterior put you off. The food is fantastic and the wait staff are incredible. So excited to have found a vegan dish on the menu. We were a party of 4 when we visited and each of us raved about the food and the service. The decor says "I'm an old bar" but the food and hospitality say "we are glad you're here and we want you to experience or best". Great find in the wilds around Peek & Peak Resort.
Food was great. Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere was very nostalgic. Definitely will go again.
Not the fanciest place but clean and fun.I absolutely love their wings and salad bar. Great fish too. Worth the drive for us. Love it!!
Friendly staff! Delicious food. Fun atmosphere. Wide selection of liquors. Small liquor store detached gives the option to buy bottles of your favorite liquor.
Great wings as always and super friendly service
I'm picky about my wings. They must be crispy and these were some of the best wings I have ever had! They were perfect. We've also had the fish fry and this too was excellent. Service was also extremely good. They checked on us several times throughout our meal. AWESOME!
We hadn't been here for years, but the fish fry was as delicious as we remembered. It took a while for the food to come out, but it was fresh and piping hot. The waitress was attentive but not annoying. Update: came for lunch. Had wings which were delicious. Waitress was great. Kind of a "Cheers" atmosphere.
Absolutely love this place anytime I get over that way am stopping. Great food Great staff can't say enough good about this place.
Came here after my wedding dress rehearsal at a venue near by with our wedding party and was blown away by the service. Bridget took care of our group wonderfully and the food and drinks were so good! First time eating here but won’t be the last!
What a place. I say this lovingly, but the classic whole in a wall joint that literally hasn’t changed in the 30+ years I’ve been coming here, and reportedly even before that when it was Bernie’s. That being it said, I love coming here to have a beer or indulge in the beloved chicken wings or fish fry on the weekends. Yes, it is a bar, but the best bar food in the area. If you’re around and want a good local and easy environment, head here.
I wish I could remember our waitress’ name because she was awesome! She was fun, attentive, quick and thorough! The food was great! All around great bar/restaurant and fun atmosphere.
Love the food and people that work there.
Love this place ,everyone is friendly. Prices fair. Best wings I've ever had in my life. Everything is wonderful . Everything on menu is delicious. Good job everyone
Went skiing at the Peak with some coworkers. One suggested we come here for dinner, it was wonderful. Super nice wait staff and the chicken stir fry I ordered was excellent.
Sat outside on the patio with my pup. Normally you go inside to order but Bridget had come out to do something. Took my order and brought it out. Awesome people, good food and nice ride to go there. Sorry, ate and forgot to take a pic😊
We had an errand in Clymer, NY and my boyfriend and I stopped here on way home to eat. It's a *GREAT* place, with a pool table, outdoor seating and a "Seat-Yourself" policy. Since I'm Lactose -Intolerant{No dairy!} It's sometimes HARD for Me to FIND food at places like this! Lol BUT, they had pizza and were able to put a "Garlic Butter" wing sauce on my pizza and "No cheese" so I could eat it!! And, since I *LOVED* the sauce So *MUCH*, I wanted MORE to take home! They gave me some in a "to-go" container and didn't charge Me! And, my pizza -with Mushrooms, green peppers, black olives and banana peppers{hot} was SO *GOOD*!!😋❤️ I even got my own "little" pitcher of Coffee! It was Very *GOOD*!! The waitress and Kitchen were So *WONDERFUL*, that I would HIGHLY *RECOMMEND* this place to ANYONE passing through!! They have quite A LOT on their menu and the bathrooms were Very *CLEAN*!! So....*CHECK IT OUT*, Today!!🥇❤️👏❤️
They were so friendly and courteous, and the food was great! We told our waitress, Bridget, that we were there celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary, and she accommodated us with our every need. I would highly recommend stopping there for cocktails and a bite to eat. They have a wide variety of food on their menu.
French Creek Tavern is always the BEST! The salad bar offered on the weekends is simple, fresh and delicious. I enjoyed a favorite, Jambo Wings with chunky blue cheese...they came out perfect, accompanied by crispy vegetables. My husband got the fish sandwich, which was huge & yummy. Our waitress, Bridget was super friendly and attentive to our needs. Prices are moderate and the atmosphere is full of energy. Definitely worth of visit if you are in the area!
Best chicken wings in the tri country area. The food is always great, dive bar feel with some of the best food you'll find. Stop in, you won't be disappointed!!!!
We always love to have a meal and drink at the tavern! Their chicken wings are amazing, as are the burgers and pizza. The salad bar is small but has all the fixings you'd want at an affordable price! Service is always friendly and attentive.. not to mention its a great place to stop while riding the trails to warm up and have a beer. Nothing fancy - just good food, good drinks, and great service.
Great hole-in-wall restaurant and dive bar. Mostly locals. Breaded wings were fantastic. Jeremy bartender was very attentive. And bree & becky in kitchen are fun & friendly. Def recommend
Love the corner rural bar feel. Food is awesome pub fare. I had a great Reuben sandwich, their Monday special. The patrons raved about the chicken wings.
This was a great find and was recommended to me by the local ski patrol at Peak and Peak ski area. Definitely a small hole in the wall kind of place. However, the food was really good and fairly priced, clean inside with a home town field, staff was very friendly and offered great service And took care of all of our needs. Overall, a great stop and I was super happy as were everyone else in the party. Definitely will come back here when I’m in the area and highly recommend it to others.
Always great- especially the wings, burgers, fish fry, and salad bar. They always have their daily special deal up on the wall. Great prices and staff is like a family there. The place looks like it hasn’t been touched since the 80s and I hope it always stays that way
Consistently good food. The wings and beef on wick with fresh cut fries are so good. The servers are always friendly no matter how busy (and that is often). A favorite stop when we are in the area.
My husband and I were doing a weekend at Peek’n peak and went here for lunch. Food was amazing! We split the jambo wings along with a Reuben and beef on weck. Best wings we’ve ever had and the sandwiches were great too! Service is excellent and the atmosphere relaxed.
We've tried to stop in for food in the past, but the place was packed and the wait was gonna be forever, which was a good sign. Last Saturday we stopped in and sat right down. The Tavern was...rustic...but to me, that means good food. I ordered some wings and the steak sub. The sub was amazing and the wings were great, although on the smaller side with the heavy price tag wings have been going for. My wife ordered wings and a basket of fries, all great, and my kiddo with a double cheeseburger. The burgers were legit! Like, real meat, juicy, delicious burgers...not the frozen patties from other places. Drinks were cold, service was top notch and will go back when in the area!
Bridget was awesome! She matched our energy and we had a great time. Don't sleep on the corner nuggets!! The staff was super accommodating and helpful in trying to help locate a lost item.
We took a break from the heat at Peek n Peak to pop in for lunch. The server was super friendly, and you can tell she's been there for a long time. Everyone seemed to know her, which says a lot about a restaurant. Place was pretty dark, so I can't say much about the decor, but the restrooms were clean, and the food was good. (Husband ordered a BLT, and I had a grilled cheese.)
Stopped for lunch....fresh & healthy, beautiful salad and delicious wings. Friendly place!
A group of us girls planned a trip and came across this gem of a place. We all decided to have dinner and a few drinks. The staff at French Creek are amazing, super welcoming and made our visit worth coming back! The food was also super delicious. Thank you so much for all of the laughs and allowing us to have an amazing girls trip!!
Love this place, have come here for years. Local tip: the medium is hot, the hot is diablo. Also don’t get the pizza. The rest of the food is awesome. You can’t beat the vibes.
If I could, I'd give this place 100 stars. I'd give them the orbiting planets and moons too. I was absolutely in awe of this place last night. My family of 3 walked in behind a table of 8. Who walked in behind a table of 15. 15 was being seated as we walked in the door, 8 was waiting to be seated. That meant no tables were left for us, but while we were waiting a 2-top left and we ended up taking their table. We were unsure about how long the food would take with those big groups but figured we'd stick around. I am so glad we did. The staff here pulled off what Applebee's could never. I used to work in restaurants so I know first hand how these things go. But I had to pleasure of watching their staff- while absolutely under stress and running like crazy- play a perfectly composed symphony. They killed it. I am fairly confident there was only 1 server and idk how she did it but she is an expert in her craft and we waited for nothing. The food was a normal wait. It seemed like the kitchen barely even blinked at pushing out so many meals. Speaking of meals. The fried pickles are a MUST. Wings were fantastic. Kriss Kross fries were perfect. And my husband's steak sandwich was delicious and hearty. I was unsure of the setting since the pictures give it more of a dive bar vibe, but the atmosphere proved this place wasn't just a kid friendly establishment - it is THE kid friendly establishment. Lots of families with kids here! Absolutely more of a restaurant crowd than a bar crowd. Hats off to all of the employees working 12/22. From the kitchen to the host/ runner/ busser- you all are amazing. PS - Super appreciated the Non-Alcoholic Labatt Blue option.
Been coming here every year for years. The wing flavors are always great(this time it was medium, lemon pepper, and sweet garlic habanero). The wings have the right amount of meat and are cooked to perfection! The ranch of blue cheese always complement the wings and the carrots. Service is always super friendly and very helpful. This place is such an establishment that I will be coming back every year until I physically cannot!
Hostess was very friendly and got us a table within 10 minutes. The food took much longer than anticipated but the manager apologized and their team helped make things right. Wings and fresh cut fries were delicious. I appreciated them creating a service recovery experience for my family as this is what makes a business stand out. I would definitely go back!
This was our first time to go to French Creek Tavern. Our waitress, Bridget, was awesome. She was efficient and had a great personality. Our waitress made our.lunch very enjoyable and was fun. The parking lot was almost full when we left. They have great food at great prices.
We have family that owns a place at the Peak and this is a regular stop for us. Though the outside (and inside) doesn't look like much... the food here is SO good! Best wings I've had - so crispy and fresh tasting. Fried pickles also a must! Our service was exceptionally good despite it being unusually busy on a Monday.
Old cosy wood interior with free games. Always busy on weekends but service was still prompt. Loved the large dry rub wings with excellent side hot sauce, celery , carrots, blue cheese too. BLT had a good amount of bacon and fries were hand cut, large and not limp. Darkest draft beer was fine, no porters or stouts, except in a bottle.
This place really needs to be highlighted by Dinners, Dives & Drive-ins with Guy Fierri! We tend to visit during off-peak hours so we don't have a wait. That usually means around 2 to 3:00 p.m. I almost always get the Tavern Burger, which I am in love with! Hubby always gets their wings, and he loves them! Their hand cut fries are to die for! What can I say it's definitely not a looker, but it's beyond awesome food! A Hidden Gem indeed!
Nice local bar/restaurant with many food choices on the menu. Wings were very tasty but they came out Luke warm. None of the food was very hot out of the 3 meals that were ordered as though it had been sitting for a while before it was brought out. Place was extremely busy due to Peak and Peak fall fest so I am only knocking off 1 star for the slowish service and food quality.
For what it is which is a hole in the wall little bar it's great. If you're looking for something simple with good food this is a great place. The food was great lots of games pool table nice jukebox. Just a great fun place for drinks with friends. Many people were there as families I'm not quite sure I would consider this at all a family place a cool bar though.
Great food. Great prices.
I have never had a bad experience here. I usually stop after I go skiing, but I have been back in the summer specifically to eat here. The staff always acknowledged you when you sat down even if they were busy. You know you will be taken care of. The food never takes that long despite the size crowd that's in there. One major critique I will give them is they need to adjust their wing prices back down to pre-pandemic levels. I was on board when your prices doubled, but they are no longer and you guys are still charging an astronomical amount for them.
Service was terrific. Food was very good. Place looks like a complete dive, but it was super surprising how pleasant it was.
Some of the best wings around. By far the best blue cheese. Good food. Good selection of beers. Friendly staff. Kind of a small town dive bar but I mean that in a really good way. Love to go here when I'm in the area.
This is a decent family-owned establishment that has been there for a long time. It's a great place to go for dinner if you're up at Peak and Peak skiing for the day and you like to get some wings or pizza when you're done. The food is very good but the service can be kind of slow at times. I do enjoy having dinner at French Creek
I have family memories here so the Tavern does have a special place in my heart. This is a local haunt and beloved by all. The staff is phenomenal and handled a group of 20 unexpected people wonderfully. It's rarely crowded and there's always a spot for a visitor. The beer is good and cheap. They have karaoke nights which are big hit. Oddly enough they do have a salad bar on the weekends which for a tavern in the middle of the country it's a pretty hood one. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, the soup, cornbread, and brownies were all homemade. It's a great little spot for a quick bite or a drink with friends.
What a wonderful place. On a Sunday mid day, it’s poppin. The drinks are well made and strong enough, the service is amazing and the food is awesome, (I am not a fan of French fries, but these were not very good. They tasted like old grease, or old fries) The fish was huge and well cooked, and the coleslaw was amazing. And so with that I can only give it a 9/10. This is “our place” from now on. I definitely would recommend.
Fairly decent place to eat. Service is a little bit slower, but that may be due to staffing issues or the fact that it was busy. What this place really has going for it are their prices. Their prices are really cheap and you get a decent amount of food for the price. If you’re looking for somewhere cheap to eat with decent food definitely go here. Their grilled cheese with rye bread was the best food I’ve had here.
I would recommend the chicken wrap, however I got charge $5 for waffle fries for 5 of them( the menu had a different price). Another guest of mine got a hamburger, they don’t recommend it. Caution, when we got the bill it was a lot higher than the prices on the menu.
Service was great. The food was the worst meal I have ever had. Chicken soup did not taste like chicken at all. The Fry's were terrible. The fried chicken was burnt. Just a bad meal all the way around. On a good note the Pepsi was good.
I placed a takeout order and my call was taken by Holly. Holly obviously was not interested in taking my order and was rude and kept angrily sighing when I added more to the order. I have been placing the exact same order for 8 years and have never been treated so rudely. Bridget and Jen are always amazing, I love dealing with them and have never had a problem. When I got home, the sub was wrong, I’m missing a drink and my order of fries contained 12 fries, no exaggeration, 12 small French fries! When I called to complain, I again get Holly whose personality had not improved since my earlier call. She said she never charged me for the drink so it shouldn’t matter. I have never been treated so poorly here, if I call for takeout again and Holly answers, I’m hanging up and going elsewhere.
Would give 0 stars if I could. As soon as me and my friends walked in one of the staff members was being rude towards us and gave us attitude. All she was doing was drinking and talking. Never coming back here again. If you’re colored do not visit this place, just a bunch of white people that’ll look at you and make remarks.
Came here after skiing. The food was mediocre and they botched the food orders. Asked for an Old Fashioned, but got some kind of Bourbon sour - this is strictly a "shot and beer" place. But the best part - the SB halftime show was on and the tall blonde drunken barmaid began loudly offering her racist and homophobic slurs for the whole place to hear. Don't bring your kids here...and don't bring your immigrant wife here like I did.
Food quality was very poor. Cold bread, bad sandwiches, and fries cooked inconsistently. The billing was also an issue — no clear breakdown, just one combined charge with no explanation. Disappointing experience overall
This place is a complete joke. Every single item we were served was trash — cold fries, cold bread, and a BURNT steak sandwich. Nothing was edible, nothing was done right. It honestly felt like the food was made by a 10-year-old who doesn’t know the first thing about cooking. No skill, no care, no pride. I hate leaving bad reviews, especially for small businesses, but this was so bad it made me angry. The food alone was unacceptable, but the billing pushed it over the edge. The charges didn’t add up, the so-called “breakdown” was confusing and useless, and it genuinely felt like we were scammed. Serving garbage food and overcharging customers is disrespectful. If you enjoy cold food, burnt sandwiches, and questionable bills, go ahead. Otherwise, avoid French Creek Tavern and check your receipt like your money depends on it — because it does.
I ordered my food ahead of time and went to pick it up then lady who was drinking at the bar came up to me and told me I had to leave because I had a drink and it wasn’t from there so once I went outside there was a drunk group outside and a guy was peeing in the center of the parking lot then started saying i forgot my id and laughing, calling me names. Then tried to blame me for coming outside while he was peeing making it seem like i was looking at him. If you are cultured this isn’t a good place for you. I’d give negative starts if I could. On top of that I ordered chicken pizza and got buffalo chicken, ranch, & bacon pizza and I don’t eat pork.
