First time here, and we love Korean Food. Had the Grilled Mackerel and Pork Bibimbap, the taste was Amazing; and also all the Banchan Cucumber, Radish, Kimchi, Fishcake, Potato, Bean sprout was Perfect. Definitely be back.
I lived in South Korea for 2 years and can say their food is legitimate Korean! The restaurant even has a Korean feel which I love. Waitstaff is always very friendly and the food is always great and filling! $14 tax included for a bento box with 6 appetizers (one free refill allowed) can’t beat it!
We drove over from Crockett to College Station yesterday to celebrate my birthday with friends. We have eaten at Mong Chon twice before but I have forgotten to give an review. We got there at around 11:30 for our lunch. The restaurant was empty and we had two young men as waiters and they were FANTASTIC. Made sure we had water, answered any questions we had and were just in general nice young men. My friend and I ordered iced Korean coffee. It was wonderfully sweet and milky. The coffee had a slighly burnt taste but I love a strong coffee so I really liked it, Karl said it was ok but not his favorite. For the meal we ordered a couple of the Korean pancakes. Kimchi and a seafood mix. Both were EXCEPTIONAL. I loved the seafood and was easily one of the 2 best Korean pancakes I have ever eaten. My wife preferred the kimchi. Did matter, both were phenomenal. Fir main dishes we order the beef bulogi, the fried pork belly, and the spicy pork and squid. The meal as included a portion of rice for each of us and the assorted pickles and side dishes of a traditional Korean meal. The water said all the sides were created in house and they tasted like home made. Some extra spicy some extra tart but each one were great. My order of preference in the mains were the beef, the spicy pork and squid, and finally the pork belly. Next time I plan trying the spicy pork belly. That spicy sauce is addictive. We left full and so happy we had eaten there. Please go. Skip the Korean hot pot. Yeah, it's OK, but this place is a true hidden gem in College Station.
Loved our visit to Mongchon! The atmosphere was clean and comfortable, and the servers were so friendly and attentive. We ordered the squid bokkeum, and it was on point — perfectly cooked, great spice, and full of flavor. Overall, a really satisfying meal. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to!
The food is amazing, the service is awesome. My gf and I have come here a couple times now. The only thing we don’t like is we never see many people here, when they deserve to be packed every day. We will be coming back quite often.
Phenomenal place to get your Korean food fix. All the plates we tried this time and last were delicious, fresh and prepared with care. Come here and relax, the food is to order so nonoe of this 5 min fast food unhealthy stuff. They do not serve alcohol bur their drinks are amazing such as teas, yogurts, sodas, rice and ginger drinks, aloe drinks.
I was a little tentative once we sat down but I was blown away by the flavor with every bite. This meal took me by surprise and now I cannot wait to go back. You must eat here. The kimchi flavored vegetables provided before the meal were amazing. My favorite was the cucumber; I could eat it by the bowl. I ordered the beef short ribs because I asked for a recommendation from the waiter. He did not steer me wrong. I’m ready to taste the spicier menu items now. The ribs were cooked to perfection. And I cannot share enough about the amazing sauce they were cooked in. Chef’s kiss! I also loved all of the BTS items throughout the restaurant. I will get a coffee next time. Oh! And the metal chopsticks were a nice surprise. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. There were little bouquets of fake flowers at each table.
Nice to see lots of Korean patrons here! Great food. I ordered the seafood bibimbap. It was so tasty, however it was SO spicy! There was no spicy symbol next to the menu item, so it surprised me when it was overly spicy (good thing I can handle heat!). I loved the pickles they give for starters, and the little yogurt drink they give to finish you off at the end. Quaint restaurant, friendly service, yummy food.
Most authentic and sincere Korean food that I've had the honor to imbibe. The staff feels like long lost family and every dish tastes like coming home. Definitely take the time to go here, sit down with some loved ones, and enjoy a hearty meal. They serve delicious traditional side dishes that are refilled throughout the meal and have some of the stickiest, most enjoyable rice in College Station/Bryan. It may also go by Korean take out, but I highly recommend taking in the entirety of this gem by dining in during your visit.
Good place to try! I would love to come back and try more things. The appetizer pancake was big, you'll want to share with a group of three to four (unless you're really hungry!). The stew is packed with tofu and the chicken is nice and crispy. The food didn't take long to receive, and the waiter was attentive. Their chopsticks are flatter then what I'm used to, so if you struggle eating with chopsticks you might want to ask for a fork.
This used to be my favorite Korean place. Unfortunately, the menu has changed. I really liked the soups that they offered before, which were filling and packed with ingredients. The options I used to order are now gone, with a lot smaller menu. Maybe they did that to simplify the menu to improve the quality of the food. Well, I ordered a soup this time, and for 14 dollars I got a little bit of broth, with some tiny pieces of brisket, a tiny bit of vermicelli, and a little bit of dried green onion. It was a soup I would expect for free/at a cheap price alongside a main dish, let alone 14 dollars excluding tax and tips. I was shocked at the decline in food quality here. I'm giving this restaurant a 3 star rating because I really loved this place, but with the food the way it is currently I don't know if I'll be back.
Unfortunately I didn’t like it. I am open minded and not demanding when it comes to Korean food. With that being said, I wasn’t expecting this place to be the best Korean I have had, that would be unrealistic, but I really don’t understand the great reviews. My shrimp fried rice couldn’t be mushier and bland, and the shrimp they used was the super tiny cheapo kind. It tasted like bad tap water. Same with the kimchi, I could taste their tap water. If I had known they serve you white rice when you buy a protein I would’ve never order it to begin with. The pork bulgogi wasn’t great either. The best was the sticky white rice. Too much money for a meal not enjoyed. Oh well, it happens!
