This place is the BEST! If you're sleeping on Shiraz, you need to visit. The lamb is SO good. The veggie plates, the dips, yum! They are making the bread FRESH and in-front of you. Mr Shiraz is often working the register and is so kind and fun to talk to. Family owned business. High quality, great price. Don't miss it just because it's tucked off the main drive. Worth it
God tier food, the best kebab in college station. The #3 is the best (I do think they need a kebab only option for this) but holyyyyyyyyy their food is soooo freaking good! The prices can be a LITTLE on the higher end for meat and rice is probably my only complaint.
THIS is by far my family's (6) favorite place to eat. New owner is awesome, his dad is a wonderful man as well. They are both very helpful, friendly and a pleasure to talk to. They treat us like family and we've not known them but for just the several times we go there to eat. Food is beyond great. The house tea is fabulous and very helpful if you have digestive issues. (I get the tea often due to my diverticulitis) The food sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable as well. Cozy/comfortable environment and overall a great experience every time we visit.
Loved it! The food was very tasty, fresh, lots of Persian flavors! The owner is very nice! The place is clean. Highly recommended
Great owner, great staff, great food! I’ve been coming here for 3 years and I’ve never had a bad experience! The owner works the register and he is beyond kind! And the food is truly some of the best I’ve ever had! College station needs more places like this!
Picked up some food to travel with and was pleasantly surprised. Laughing at the guy who gave a one star review because he was sharing his drink with two other people and wasn't allowed a refill. It's one thing to be cheap, but another to bash the business because they didn't give away three drinks for the price of one.
Goated Ayran! I felt like I was back at my grandmas in Azerbaijan. What a joy and pleasure!
Delicious food. Pita was the best. Place may present as a little rundown on outside of building but soooo good. Don't pass it up.
My go-to place for halal Iranian kebabs. The kabobs are consistently good. The naans are fresh from the oven. In case, the naan/kabob or rice/kabob combo may feel a bit dry and bit bland, one may use hummus/tabouleh, or an Iranian pickle they have, which is more on the sour end than spicy. Their yogurt drink comes with mint and is a must try. Note: Items 2,3,4 are not halal.
I lived in cstat for 3 years and am very thankful to have found this place. Some of the best Persian food the in in the area. The gentleman/owner at the register is always so kind and helpful. The food is delicious, reasonably priced, well portioned, and is always consistent. You have to try this place!
My wife absolutely loves this place. The owners take care of their customers and the food is awesome. Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting. It's not fancy, but who needs fancy when the food and service is the best.
The lamb kabobs is one of the best tasting I have ever had!!!
Generous servings, very nice people running the restaurant, delicious food. Thank you!
Simply put, our favorite restaurant in College Station. The food is amazing: always high-quality, simple but very flavorful, and somehow just tastes "fresher" than anywhere else. Great service, nice local place.
The owners are so hospitable and personable. They show such honor and kindness to customers. The food is made of real ingredients and just delicious. There are options for nearly any dietary situation. While it's a bit pricey, the portions are large and the food is real and healthy. Been a loyal customer since they opened. Shiraz is excellent!
Food is absolutely delicious and tasted authentic. They prepare right after you place your order, so always fresh - unlike other places where they heat it up. Friendly staff. Neat and clean interiors. Definitely recommend.
I found this place when I was in school and make a point to stop by anytime I’m passing through. The owner/cashier is a truly kind and wholesome guy. The food is always tasty and feels “home”-y, even though I didn’t eat anything like this growing up. Tons of vegan options, and the ambiance is great, especially the fountain in the middle. I hope they continue to serve this food for many years to come!
SO good. The best Greek food we have found in town. It's fresh, flavorful, and fast. The gentleman (who, I think is the owner) behind the counter recommended a couple delicious dishes (dolma and kashk-E-bademjan). He did not steer me wrong. My husband enjoyed the beef gyro sandwich, and he was full after eating one. For reference he can eat a footlong subway sandwich and still feel hungry. The restaurant is also clean, and their glass case is an eyeful. Give them a try for sure.
Andrew was SO incredibly kind and sweet!! It was my first time eating there and he was so kind to help me choose the right dish! The chicken filet kabob was phenomenal, the decor was so pretty, and the service was fantastic!! I think he was the nicest person Ive ever met!
This place was delicious! I am not from college Station but I am part Persian. A client recommended we meet here for lunch. She frequents this restaurant with her family. Currently they are practicing safety with tables blocked off and masks required. They are also offering very large to go cups for all fountain drinks as refills are not currently permitted for safety. My client noted that her friend doesn't like that the vegetables are charred (this is the custom in Persian cuisine and adds distinct flavor) so perhaps mention that if that is your preference. The meat was delicious and everything was seasoned wonderfully. What I miss here is the feta cheese cubes that is normally eaten before and also would be great to add rice pudding to the dessert menu! I will definitely be coming back here when I am in town! What to get: Prince Platter
Incredible experience! This food is amazing. It is so authentic, fresh, and all around excellent. But my favorite part of the experience was the owners' hospitality. Don't let the exterior fool you. This is one of those hidden gems that everyone should visit at some point in College Station.
From Houston so I've only been to this location twice now. Both times the food has been amazing and service has been great. I'm guessing it's the owner of the location that was taking the order both times and he's a very friendly and helpful person. The restaurant is very clean and well taken care of. I'd definitely recommend this place whether you live there or just stopping by.
Shiraz is a local gem. The food is healthy and delicious, something difficult to find in restaurants these days. This is also one of the few places in town where vegetarians and vegans will have an entire dedicated menu! The owners/managers are wonderful folks who take time to learn about their loyal customers. We always feel like we are greeting family when we visit!
Delicious!!!! It was our first time visiting, and the person taking our order, Andrew, was extremely helpful. He explained all of the different options to us and made the experience all the more pleasant. I ordered the beef and chicken and they were both great, but the beef was probably better. My husband ordered beef and lamb and plans to get all lamb next time. Baklava dessert was exquisite.
This location that will have you coming back for more. Right when you walk in you see the beautiful fountain centerpiece. The atmosphere is enhanced with the smell of fresh lamb, beef and Shiraz Shish Kabob's great kitchen dishes. Has both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Friendly and great service. Take your time and enjoy this unique Mediterranean place located in College Station, Texas.
Amazing Delicious Authentic Dishes! My Husband and I ordered for the first time and to be delivered. He Loved it so very much he wants to go To Shiraz Shish Kabob in person. I raved about this establishment 3 nights ago because I had to make an order the other night. So while I was waiting the owners had me try some of there foods . You know I felt so Blessed. It was like they were inviting me into there home and come sit I'll make you plate. It's how I felt when I left. So of course mentioned to my husband let's order so you can try it. HE LOVED IT!! And wants to go in and eat. Shiraz Shish Kabob is a Fantastic Family Owned Restaurant Establishment!! Both Husband and Wife Team are Amazing!! Just Blessed!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY!!
The food was amazing. I’ve been in cstat for 5 years and just now came, so much wasted time. So yummy. Me and my Pakistani friend approve.
I have been coming here for over a decade and felt the need to leave a review today. Not that they didn’t deserve a great one last time during stricter Covid protocols when the man at the register (owner?) ran and told my baby not to mess with the coin fountain because he couldn’t clean it well enough to make sure it wasn’t “dirty” - ya know, before we knew how this thing really spread. But my reason for leaving the review today… I’m SO PROUD of this business. It was absolutely popping today. They’re on top of online & phone orders. The food is still incredible. The people are too. And they keep up with the times. Perfect for families. Perfect for a date. Perfect for visitors or tourist wanting to try a local eatery. To Shiraz Shish Kabob- I’m so terribly sorry it took me over years to write a review. You deserved 5 stars from the very first time.
This is an Iranian/Persian Halal food restaurant. They serve chicken, beef and lamb based tasty halal foods with either bread or rice. They also have dessert like Baklava and soft drinks. I had the Lamp shank with rice and baklava for dessert and my friend had the lamb kabobs with rice. We really enjoyed our dinner in the dining room beautifully decorated with a beautiful water fountain right in the middle. The restaurant serves foods to go and I think they also have some online or by phone ordering options. Their location is very close to a highway and convenient. The only limitation I have observed was that they didn't have diet sodas.
Very nice family owned restaurant. Fresh made kabobs, really cheap but taste amazing. Owner is very nice
Emir’s platter and babaganoush The best!!! I always come here for this. First time met Andrew here today. Very fun guy and shared some great knowledge with us. Thank You.
This has been on our list to try for a while and I’m so glad we finally did! The service was so friendly, food was hot, fresh, and delicious, and the tea (made with fresh tea leaves) is very good. The shish kabob plates come with choice of seasoned meat, grilled onions & tomatoes, rice, and a small piece of bread. Plenty of food and so authentic. We will definitely be back.
Excellent vegan/ vegetarian choices, very nice people taking the orders, food tasted awesome. The place is clean, well illuminated, restrooms clean. Prices are VERY reasonable!! Will keep revisiting for sure 👍
Service is always amazing. Place is always clean. Owner/manager is always friendly. Going here for 15 years and food has been consistently great. Recommend #6 and # 10.
Locally owned kebab joint that is out of this world good. I have been visiting this place for years and its one of my favorites. This is good wholesome Mediterranean food, its all made from scratch. The meats used are of high quality. The food never fails to be fresh. The location is always immaculately clean. The atmosphere is very nice & peaceful inside. The owners are friendly people that obviously care about the service they provide. The naan bread is AMAZING, best ever. But my favorite menu item by far is the Baba Gannouj. A smoky roasted eggplant type of dip that elevates the meal to a whole 'notha level 🤤. You MUST try the Baba Gannouj if you go here. Dont miss out on this place, its an absolute treasure.
Came here for my husband's birthday lunch and it was delicious. We got a platter with the shiraz kebab and lamb filet and the meats were soooo flavorful and tender. The flatbread is kind of thin and almost cracker like which was tasty with the dips we got. The service was just ok, but that doesn't matter when the food is THIS tasty!! I'd 100% come back again and try the other types of meat.
Came here for the first time with my wife. We ordered the custom half and half platters. Keep in mind, these platters are really just a plate lunch for 1 person, it is not an actual platter or ala cart like I thought lol. We got the lamb shish, chicken shish, and Shiraz shish (2x) with rice and bread. The bread was like a giant cracker. We also ordered the pistachio Baklava which looked like a mini turnover. They were all very delicious. I wish the meat portions were a bit more for the price we paid, but we still enjoyed it and would like to return every so often. Parking lot is small, but it wasn’t busy so there was plenty of stalls. Lots of tables and chairs to dine on. Staff are very friendly and pretty fast.
This was my husband and I's first time coming here after living here for almost 4 years. We realized that we made a mistake not coming here a while ago! The restaurant is beautiful, with cool art and blue paint, and a water fountain in the middle. The service was incredible and we didn't feel rushed or anything while we got all of our questions answered. We ended up ordering the beef gyro plate and the lamb shish kabob with rice, a side of bread with hummus, 2 falafel and baklava. Wow it was all delicious!!! Attached are some pictures. The food was hot and tasty and it was cool seeing it prepared behind the counter. Definitely check this place out!! We will be back again for sure!
We visited this place today and it was best customer service we had ever experienced. We were going to go Whataburger across the street, but saw the there was quite a few people here, so we decided to check it out. We told the manager (we never got his name) that we had never been there before and he got out from behind the register and explained to us the menu. From there we were able to figure out what we wanted. I also liked how the meat is on display and they cook it when you order it. It also had no preservatives. Plus the price is pretty reasonable for the food and it tastes great. Also when I was there, I noticed that manager was helping a elderly man from his seat and walked him to his car. I thought that was very kind. I also really like the water fountain, it helped drown out the noise of other customers and it was really pretty. However, watch out for the glass vases around the water fountain. If you bump into them they will break. Definitely recommend going there, very lovely.
The most delicious, clean and neat place. The food here is very tasty and healthy. We had yogurt drink (ayran) and it was great! The staff is very smiling and friendly. Portions are quite large. The atmosphere of the interior is in a true oriental style. Even the owner of the restaurant served us special tea as a gift. We are regular visitors of this place from now on. We thank Mr. Afshar for great service and atmosphere!
Tried their prince's platter. Food is made to order (expect a little wait) and it taste excellent. Price is reasonable too. If you don't know what to eat, you can actually see how the food (raw) actually looks like, which may help you to make your decision easier. Portion is great. Restaurant is clean and organized, with a unique fountain at the center of the restaurant.
Pretty great place. The non veg dishes were all great. Lot of veg options, and out of the 3 we tried, one was great, one decent and one not so much, the first 2 being rather unique flavours. The Baklava was awesome. The Turkish coffee wasn't. Service was really nice and sweet. They even play HBD track and add a candle if they find that out, which is very sweet of them. You pay upfront and they take your order, and the counter will display when your ticket is ready. Each dish is quite filling in itself. Just leaves enough room for a Baklava. This place is Aggie owned, so do give them all the support <3.
Ordered over the phone in hopes of a quick order since it wasn’t a true peak time. Unfortunately it appeared they didn’t start making my food until I arrived so I had to wait about 10-15 mins. For my to go order after waiting 25 mins. after calling in to go to the store. Good food for the price, doesn’t seem like order ahead is worth it. You get more tomatoes than meat on your skewers so maybe ask the tomatoes not to be included if you aren’t a fan of them.
We have been to this restaurant several times over the years and the food is always cooked to order. This means a longer wait - but absolutely fresh food (a positive in my books). This visit we ordered the chicken kebab with rice/bread (excellent), the falafel with rice/bread (ok, but prefer falafel with much more parsley flavor) and baklava with pistachio & with walnuts (both excellent). We will be back.
I visited this place with friends. The food was fairly good. The chicken in the kebabs was seasoned well, but it was a little dry. I loved the roasted tomatoes that came with it. The rice was also good. The bread was good bit it was a little burnt. Two things that stood out: 1- the apparent unhappiness of the man who told us where to sit and was clearing the tables, and 2- the noise level of the place. I believe the acoustic are such that they exacerbate any sound, as it didn't seem to me any of the patrons was being loud and though somewhat busy the place was not packed. I would go back for a pleasant meal, but I would have to choose a time when there are few customers.
Wanted to give it a try based on reviews. Overall atmosphere of the place was good plus the portion sizes were generous. However, the food was a little under the mark. We’ve had much better tasting similar dishes.
I have not been here for a couple of months since my wife does not like it. I decided to try it one day I was in town for lunch. I really like this place and usually get the chicken kabobs. Everything was fine and as usual. The one thing I noticed is they are not allowing refills on drinks.
My experience with Shiraz Shish Kabob: The place is quiet and clean, but it clearly lacks good service. The cashier was not friendly and didn’t provide proper customer care. Overall, the service needs improvement, and the prices are a bit high for the quality.
My first time here my wife and i both had the Princes Platter with rice, which is one beef and one chicken kabob. I liked the beef one better, it was flavorful but both kabobs were dry, possibly overcooked? The rice and bread it comes with were good. We ordered the pistachio baklava for dessert and it was just plain bad. I don't think I'll be coming back, nothing stood out, but it wasn't horrible overall.
Food tastes good but definitely very lacking in meat. 90% vegetables very little meat. Not worth the money.
Ordered extra on the side which was not there. I always go back and forth with them
The servers accidently gave us someone else's order, which we didn't have a problem with. However, they also mistakenly gave us two orders of baklava which we didn't touch. Instead of correcting the order, the owner scolded us for accepting the food and took the baklava back to the kitchen, likely to serve to someone else. The food was also dry and bland and overpriced for the quality.
The kabobs were good, but the “salad”was watery like it was prepared too long ago, when I told the owner as a suggestion to get it right, he reacted ballistic to me me telling me this is the way they served even I liked or not. I ended up paying for the salad and leaving with a bitter taste of disappointment . Not coming back Note: get gloves to touch the trays… they stick to your fingers
I ordered two meals number 1 and number 9. The rice has no flavor and the meat is very dry. The hummus tastes terrible. The cashier, who is the owner of this resto is not approachable; I was trying to get his help when I was placing my order. Nothing is good in this place and I doubt why it has got a 4.5 average rating!
We came to Shiraz Shish Kebab because of the strong Google rating and number of reviews, expecting rich and flavorful Persian/Middle Eastern food. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype. We ordered beef, lamb, and chicken kebabs with rice. The plates were heavily loaded with rice, but the portion of protein felt small for the price. The vegetables were borderline burnt, and the meal overall lacked depth and flavor. There were no sauces provided, which made everything taste dry and one-dimensional. Having had excellent Middle Eastern food before, this was noticeably underwhelming. Service also left something to be desired. The staff, particularly at the front, did not seem welcoming or engaged. For what we paid, there are better options in town. The high rating is surprising given the food quality and overall experience. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
Stars can be bought, but quality can't. My family and I visited this restaurant for lunch, lured by its high ratings, only to find it absolutely useless in terms of food taste, quality, price, and service. The empty parking lot during peak lunch hours should have been our first warning. The Persian food was incredibly disappointing, and I’m still shocked at how badly they managed to mess up grilled meat! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
All that I asked for was an apology if the owner did an honest mistake. He acknowledged his mistake but never apologized. Plus, started explaining with receipt that how the transaction was not completed. However, the transaction was not completed because Chase flagged it. From the banks perspective it's a fraudulent activity. It is what it is. Otherwise the transaction would go through. Additionally, now my card is closed :) unwanted hassle.
To make it simple the food is perfect, if you order online is better, plus they have halal food but the man in front who take order because of him i won't came back at all !! Disrespectful i came all the way from paris to here to work at university a&m and this restaurants was first stop for me and disaster service from my experience, the team that works in cuisine are respectful but not the man who take order congratulations you lost customer plus you got bad shared experience among my lab team too so idk if in usa serviceare bad or only this restaurant, next time learn to be respectful if tou can't be respectful you can change your job. Thank you.
The lamb and rice were very dry, and served on paper plates. Tables are also cleaned with windex and leaves strong chemical smell.
It’s hard to believe this place has a high rating. The owner was very rude and not welcoming, on top of that the food was not that great, and the quantity is so less. We have eaten in so many middle eastern restaurants in TX and elsewhere, also I grew up in the Middle East, so I know good food, this place comes no where close, not sure what all the big hype is about this place, I suppose most folks who come here don’t know what good middle eastern food is. Also, they are so backwards when it comes to their drinks and water policy. I was so disappointed with the overall service, quality of the food, the quantity, and the overall ambience. We don’t plan to ever come back to this place. I would go anywhere, but this place. This place was a total ripoff, we have to go elsewhere to have a proper lunch.
I never leave bad reviews - and this was my #1 favorite place to eat in college - but I will never go back here. Have never experienced such rude customer service for simply… ordering take out and coming to pick it up. My children were clearly not welcome here. Breakable, loose decor at their arms reach. Policies regarding water cups (couldn’t fill my personal cup with water) - no fountain refills - do these people want customers? I called to place a to go order (very friendly woman took my order.) We were on a long roadtrip and stopped in to stretch our legs, use the restroom, refill our water bottles… the man at the register made it very clear we were not welcome to sit down, and made a huge deal of the kids being close to their glass decor, as my husband was actively moving them away. Dining room is in no way kid friendly. Awfully impolite service. We will never come back - the food quality has gone down significantly anyway so it’s not too unfortunate for us. Pretty sure I may have been overcharged as well.
