Opinions de Sweet Eugene's Java House College Station
I had a great time coming here with my dad. Sometimes it is hard to get a table, or seat that you would like, since it is a little bit busy. But you will get one. The customer service was phenomenal, and so was the food.
Love the atmosphere here. The service is always good and I love their coffee. Definitely recommend for a study spot.
I will be honest the overall atmosphere of sweet Eugene’s is what keeps me coming back, the down lighting good music and typical coffee smell are just so inviting and different from anywhere else in town, but…. The actual food and drinks are somewhat mid. They have the best ham and cheese kolache in town for sure but the donuts are usually cakey and taste like day old grease. The matcha is definitely a matcha latte powder and is pretty sweet but would be enjoyable for a beginner matcha drinker, same with their chai. Their London fog would be better if their baristas were more consistent every one I’ve had has been different. The milk in the hot drinks are often burned but the espresso is always good. The baristas never seem too interested in taking my order but it’s usually very busy so I don’t pay much attention to that as they are always very fast. I do visit often and will continue to do so though some consistency would be nice!
The spinach and cheese feta pastry was really good. Neither the spinach nor feta was super overpowering. The blueberry cake donut was very light for a cake donut. It was not super dense. The flavoring and balance was good. The environment is amazing and it has such a variety of seating that makes it fun!
I love the vibe of this place. Just as many couches as tables. Great selection of teas and baked goods alongside typical coffees. I have a high standard for cheesecake and the one here was very rich, dense, and filling. It was eerily quiet with everyone on their laptops. It seemed like we were the only people actually talking and socializing the entire time.
I used to come to Sweet Eugene’s when I was a little girl visiting my cousins in College Station; I am so happy to see it is still there and thriving. So much in Aggieland has changed - praying a developer doesn’t come demo this entire property to build a high rise; I love that there are some original parts of CSTAT history staying strong. Still the same vibe- delicious coffee, mellow vibe, yummy pastries. You literally can’t choose anything bad there - it’s all amazing!
Great spot, coffee and lots of different places to connect with friends. Pro-tip: eclectic soundtrack always running - I am often enjoying the variety of music played. Experience it for yourself!
Recently checked out this spot and regret not coming here sooner! As someone that studies best at night i love that they are open late. I went around 9:30pm and the places was packed with students studying. It was my first time so I didn’t know what to order and the male barista suggested his favorite drink and even stepped off the register to make it the way I wanted. It was definitely worth it my latte was a 10/10. To make it even better, the female barista made the cutest design on the cup, definitely keeping it! Loved the vibes here, great coffee, cute decorations, and love love love the late night option. Will definitely be coming back! One note: i tripped over the overflowing while walking in so hopefully they can be monitored also be aware it is really crowded but neither of these things are in control of the employees so i wouldn’t hold that against the establishment.
I had an incredible time at this coffee shop, which offers so much more than just coffee. The moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by its unique, eclectic, and vintage indoor vibe. It's a place that truly stands out and transports you to another era. The array of desserts, food, and coffee choices available is extensive, making it a definite must-visit spot in the area. Whether you're a coffee aficionado, a foodie, or have a sweet tooth, there's something for everyone. The diverse menu is a testament to the care and thoughtfulness put into creating a memorable experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, making me feel right at home. I savored every sip of my coffee while soaking in the ambiance. If you're looking for more than just a coffee fix – an immersive atmosphere, delectable treats, and top-notch hospitality – this coffee shop is the perfect destination. I can't wait to visit again soon!
The place is quaint, the coffee is great. The downfall - The place was packed. Students everywhere. We ended up sitting on the deck as we were a party of 4. Overall we enjoyed the experience. Im only marking it as a four because if you want an inside table you may have to wait for it. And from what we saw you may be waiting a while.
I got the matcha, and I’m a matcha connoisseur and it was absolutely terrible, the worst I’ve ever had. However I told the and they gave me a cappuccino instead and it was bomb, so that to me redeemed them! The vibe in here is immaculate, and it is a great place to study.
Lovely cafe! It is so beautiful inside and the food/drink is great. I really enjoy studying here and find it very conducive for learning It is slightly noisy, however, as it is really the only cafe open past 7 in town, and people generally come in groups to study. If you’re looking for a quieter environment, come earlier in the day!
The food and atmosphere is excellent but I should've ordered ahead. It took slightly longer than I expected so I had to change my order to go. You can't rush perfection. It was my first time there so lesson learned. It is a very classy artful place with a laid back relaxing vibe and would be perfect place for a first date or meet up.
This "House of Java" is a cozy local establishment with "Central Perk" vibes, freshly baked goods, and a few sandwiches and crepes made to order. This local college hangout is great for getting some work done with an eclectic atmosphere, some comfortable chairs and sofas, cheap’ish eats, and free wifi with purchase. Everything on the menu looked good, but I'll admit the Pumpkin Latte was terrible, so maybe that's bad luck, or people go for the price and the atmosphere and not the java? Beware the men's bathroom; it smells like a jock's strap, which is to say, bad enough to turn your stomach. Other than the smell, the bathroom was reasonably clean but shabby. The staff was friendly, but the trash overflowed the cans for hours. If you're going to hang out with friends and co-workers or get some work done, this is a pretty cool spot. Regarding the Food and Java, YMMV.
The staff was very friendly. The timing of the food was a bit off, our friend who was directly behind us in line received her food much later than we did and we each ordered a crepe. There were people after us that got food before she did. I did enjoy my apple fritter and the crepe was okay. The atmosphere was nice, a good place to just relax and hang out.
Coffee wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good. I have a diary allergy and I don't think they use the best oatmilk. I recommend Oatly's barista full fat oat milk. It seemed watery, which is why I assume it wasn'tfull fat. And with the first sip I had a coffee ground in my mouth. Weak pumpkin flavor, it mostly tasted like oatmilk. Also, I just don't think I was personally a fan of the roast they use for espresso. I had a hot oatmilk pumpkin latte. Super nice staff, the server who helped was very nice and made sure ingredients were dairy free. It wasn't too expensive, generally speaking. However, I felt like I wasted $7 because the coffee wasn't very enjoyable.
I used to love coming here for lunch but I can tell that the service is not the same. The food is good it's always been good. I did get a Iced Green Tea they didn't let the tea steep enough and it was very watered down. When they brought me my food they didn't bring me my drink I had to wait at the counter while somebody was on their personal phone to ask where my drink was. It was sitting at the counter the entire time. As I was walking out the door and I wanted to throw my plastic cup away there was no room to do that because the trash was filled completely to the top. Again the food is amazing but the service can use a little work.
The vibes of this place are immaculate and I love that there is plenty of spots to study or cozy up in. However, the coffee is absolutely horrendous. I wish I had not wasted my money twice on the coffee since it is simply not good. The actual espresso has a weird taste to it and the coffee I make at home honestly tastes better. The food looks delicious but don’t waste money on the coffee.
Coffee was decent and the vibe is great for studying or hanging out. That said, the redheaded girl at the register was shockingly rude for no reason. Snide remarks, acting like I was bothering her by ordering, and giving a side-eye to my thank yous?? As someone who’s worked in the industry, I was honestly appalled. Customer service definitely needs work.
The coffee was good, I enjoyed it. The atmosphere is great! However, my crepe was cold, with barely some turkey on it and zero seasoning... My friend ordered a bagel with cream cheese, it took forever. Turned out they forgot and left it there sitting in the toaster so it was also cold.
Was told to “ok, boot” by an employee? From a sitting area so she could fit all her coworkers. (“So the Sweets people can hang out”) Left in shock and without my favorite smoothie and no hw done. I’m not mad I’m just disappointed.
