It's my to go place while in Corpus. It's a friendly family restaurant that never disappoints.

I had the Catfish Charlie's Bayou Feast and it was fantastic! I have never tried Gumbo, but I devoured it! The catfish is so delicious! The black beans flavorful. I am definitely going back. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

Hushpuppies are served like other places serve bread and they are delish. They do have a little kick to them since they appear to have jalapeno pieces in them. The fish and shrimp was excellent. Tartar sauce and Red sauce were yummy as well. Wait staff was very nice. The beans they serve are also very good.

Was liking walking in to 1978....mixed feelings on that, HOWEVER their fried AND grilled shrimp, AND their hush puppies....wow...probably the best I've had anywhere. Tarter and cocktail sauce bomb as well. Just fantastic. Service excellent as well. I'll be back.

I had the creole rice and shrimp it was very good. I also enjoyed the coleslaw. The sweet tea is a 5/10 in sweetness if Chicken Express is a 10.

The food is always absolutely delicious and staff super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I've never had to chase a server down to fill a drink or bring another cocktail sauce. They are the most consistent eatery that I know. I don't know how they keep their frying oil as clean and fresh as they do, but the food is always hot and fried to a light golden color, never greasy. The beans and Cole slaw are always delicious and taste the same as last time. The portions are more than generous. I can eat an entire dinner catfish, sides and all, plus the hush puppies, but I have a hollow leg. My aunt and grandmother can split a Catfish dinner and make 3 meals a piece out of it. Catfish Charlies is my go-to place to eat out if I'm looking for a sit down meal or am finding myself extremely hungry, because they always fill me up.

Great place for catfish! Very close quarters, but worth it because of food. The nuggets could be a little crispier, but it was my first time. Shrimp 🦐 was crispy and decent size. Coleslaw was fantastic and hush puppies, too! I went for lunch and was in/out less than an hour with wonderful service. I ordered the small lunch meal and still couldn't finish. Which was ok because I had leftovers. I'm definitely returning because it is overall great food!

We went at about 1pm on Sunday as there was a decent crowd but no wait. Our waitress, Tiffany, was quick with everything we needed and we never had to ask for anything. My boyfriend and I spend a lot of time in New Orleans, so we always appreciate good creole and Cajun food- and this was very good! He had the Bayou country feast and I had the Creole shrimp on rice; both were excellent.

Mindy was excellent, her recommendation on the menu was spot on, I just drove in from Yuma AZ, and was visiting Corpus for a day. Catfish Charlies was recommended by a friend in town.

Amazing gumbo 😋 and we had a very nice and friendly waitress Alissa she is amazing. My husband was craving something for a few days and she was able to make that happen. I recommend the place and will definitely come back again.

Located inside the Crossroads Shopping Village, it may not be an obvious find, but once you step inside and enjoy a meal, you’ll be hooked. I wasn’t sure what to expect when we pulled into the parking lot, but we left delighted with our meal and the exceptional service. We felt as if we had discovered a hidden gem, and trust me, you’ll leave wanting more. At Catfish Charlie’s, you’ll dine in a casual, Louisiana wharf-style setting. This family-style eatery with the checkered tablecloths has a cozy atmosphere and the service is exceptional. I haven’t experienced customer service like this, ever. From the front of the house to the back, the service at Catfish Charlie’s far exceeded our expectations. The food arrived at the table lightning-fast, and as for our server, it was as if we had our own private waitress that we did not have to share with anyone. The staff makes you feel as if you are the only patrons in the restaurant. I haven’t had an experience like that before or since. They were crisp, flavorful, and prepared to perfection. For our main entrees, my husband ordered the Fried Mississippi Catfish Fillets. The mouthwatering fillets came with country fried potatoes, zesty red beans, hush puppies, and coleslaw. Cooked to perfection, the tender white strips of catfish hit the spot after a day on the beach. I had the Bayou Style Fried Shrimp also served with country fried potatoes, red beans, hush puppies, and coleslaw. The creamy coleslaw, perfect fried potatoes—crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside, and flavorful red beans complimented my shrimp, wonderfully. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, the fried shrimp was some of the best I’ve had, and the hush puppies are seriously to die for. If you are looking for unforgettable service and fantastic food, I highly recommend a stop at Catfish Charlie’s in Corpus Christi. The food is incredible and you’ll feel right at home while you dine and enjoy a delightful meal.

I eat out a lot and it's nice to have this local country/Cajun restaurant to put into this mix. Pros: This place is unique. I don't know of any place in corpus that has frog legs on the menu. The hushpupies they give you to snack on when you sit down are excellent. Service is top notch here. Prices are reasonable. Cons: No healthy foods options. This place is popular but not large; sometimes the wait has me headed down the road.

Always a five star experience! The food is great in quality and quantity. The service is above and beyond excellent. Hats off to the wait staff. They work really hard. A special shout out to "Mindy", who was our server on February 4, 2019. She made sure we had everything we needed and more! We try to visit this restaurant often. It can be a long wait sometimes but definitely worth it!

Catfish Charlie's is exactly what you would expect in an old school fried fish house, and it's delicious. The catfish is light & flakey, delicately breaded & fried to perfection. There are also shrimp & chicken strip options for anyone crazy enough to think they wouldn't like the catfish. Wide home fries, Cole slaw, and beans round out the standard side dishes. This is the kind of place you might stumble across on your own, but more likely someone you know told you to give it a try. And you definitely should.

What a great place! We got a shrimp and catfish po-boys. It comes with fries and they bring baskets of hush puppies for the table. Food was great and fast. Our waitress was great too. Restaurant has the look of an old lakeside restaurant from years ago. We'll definitely be back.

We ate at Catfish Charlie’s today for lunch. As we walked up the steps to the door, a manager nicely and graciously opened the door for us. Another young lady told us to sit anywhere we liked. The food was great! My husband and I eat here when we come to Corpus Christ, TX. My husband ate Catfish & Shrimp without any lemons. He forgot to ask for lemons & assumed that there would be one on the plate. I told him that he should have asked for a few. We felt like the yummy catfish were in smaller pieces than the olden days. We were happy that scallions were still put on the dinner plate. My cup of gumbo was so good. I love Catfish Charlie’s gumbo. Not too spicey & with lots of shrimp. Sooooh delicious. We ordered 6 fried shrimp Ala carte with 2 red sauce & 2 white sauces to eat on the beach in Port A. When we got to the beach, there was only red sauce, no white.. we were sad. Our server gave it to us in a plastic bag tied in a knot. I should have double checked the order. We live & learn. We will always return to this establishment. The food is consistent. I love their creole & their gumbo & their sangria!!! The catfish & shrimp are yummy. The customer service here is so welcoming. We just have to remember to ask for lemons next time & double check out to go Ala carte order.

We love Catfish Charlie's! You always know what you're going to get service and quality wise. The place is an established Corpus Christi food favorite. The menu is a bit limited but that's not a bad thing, they do a few things and do them exceptionally well. Catfish is king but other options are delicious as well. The hush puppies are warm and abundant (and have a little kick). The coleslaw is the best I've found anywhere in town.

After being highly recommended by the locals, I was excited to eat at Catfish Charlie's, honest opinion the food was just OK. Lacking flavor on the catfish but again I am very picky when it comes to Seafood, but I will still rate 5 starts because the staff was Awsome they played along when I told the kids we would order mermaid nuggets only sold at this location in all of America. Fried fish and shrimp with red beans and coleslaw. The best seafood I've had in a long while. Came out fresh and hot. Most important to me is how crunchy and flavorful it was. I'm not a big fan of coleslaw but i have to admit that it was delicious. Didn't have too much sauce in it and well it was crunchy as it should be. The service was beyond great. It's hard to find a place that has great service and great food at the same time. It's usually one or the other but not both.

My server Madi was excellent and the gumbo was delicious. Highly recommend for friendly staff and the best service. That gumbo is as close to home cooking as I have found.

I go to Charlie’s for the seafood! It’s simple fried catfish and shrimp but always fresh and delicious. I think the sides of beans and coleslaw are some of the best I’ve enjoyed. My sister and son were not feeling seafood so both enjoyed the chicken fried steak with country gravy and said it was excellent. Warning, don’t fill up on the free hush puppies that are yummy too.

I saw this place one time while we were staying at a hotel nearby. We tried it and loved it. My wife and I have been coming to this place since then. We were looking for a local seafood restaurant and found it when we walked into Catfish Charlie’s! A forty year old business and they sure know how to fish delicious seafood! From farm raised catfish to fried shrimp - gumbo to chicken tenders - everything was YUM! When you are seared the hush puppies are served straight away! Love me some good hush puppies and these are good hush puppies! The server we had was terrific too. She was one of the intuitive types- can read a table and anticipate your needs before asking! Spot on. We will definitely return on our next trip to Corpus Christi! The decor is old school - not all fancy - reflects what was hip forty years ago…don’t change it Catfish Charlie’s!

When I moved to Corpus Christi over 20 years ago I used to be asked by my wife on occasion to fry some shrimp, after eating here I discovered it’s just not worth the trouble or mess for me to do it. Their shrimp is as good as mine or really close. The hush puppies are perfect, crisp on the outside and soft in the middle, we love them. Don’t forget the catfish while you’re here, they really know what they are doing and it’s the best in town.

Super happy with my experience here. Staff were friendly and quick. I got my meal within 15 minutes of sitting down, and what a meal it was. The plate was huge and included a whopping portion of fries and coleslaw alongside the entree. Everything was piping hot and tasty. Often, fried foods can taste greasy, but this was not an issue here. My chicken strips were huge and perfectly cooked; same with the catfish. No muddy taste on the catfish either; delicious! The red beans were seasoned just right. Great value for the price and tasty food to boot. Would absolutely come back next time I'm in the area.

By far one of my overall best experiences at a restaurant since moving to the area. The service is top tier. We let the waitress know it was our first time there and they gave us a complimentary appetizer. They also give samples before ordering your meal. The food is really good. It's great to see this place still in operation. Shout out to my waitress Bella for a great service experience, she was super friendly. Was greeted with smiles and was quickly seated. Food came out quickly and was hot. The food here is seasoned perfectly and not overboard like most places. Fresh and fried The hush puppies, are amazing. I could eat 20 of those just because they are on the table. Delicious. I had the gulf coast combo off the lunch and it was great. The catfish and shrimp were cooked perfectly with a good crispy batter. The coleslaw and red beans were good. The hush puppies were awesome. This place surprised me when we walked in, it was pretty dark but clean and tidy. Worked in my favor bc after cleaning all morning I felt sloppy. They decorated for Halloween and it was really cute. The waitresses and hostesses are all very nice and check on you frequently. This place is extremely reasonably priced. I'm very picky with Cole slaw and it wasn't my specific cup of tea but it was good. I prefer more of the apple cider tang. The red beans were super delicious and the fish was light and airy for fried food. Catfish isn't my favorite fish, but I came here because my son asked for fish and I wanted to try local places I haven't been to before. I think I'll be trying the frog legs or gumbo next time. Getting hush puppies before we ordered was a nice surprise. The food came out quickly and I got the ticket really fast when it became clear my child wasn't on his best behavior and it was time to go. Fast and efficient so the perfect place for lunch break if you work nearby.

Ate here on a whim tonight and it was great! And the service was phenomenal. My waitress was so nice (blonde with a septum nose ring and awesome nails!). The sweet tea is good enough to come back for alone! Ordered the gumbo and crab pepper puppies. Highly recommend the gumbo.

I guess I was expecting more of a pop off cajun seasoning on the frog legs but they were a little bland to me. They had been marinated very well however so they had some flavor. The Mrs. said the shrimp were okay. The service was excellent and if anything would make us return if in the area it would be that!

Great place to get fresh seafood! We were in town for the wknd and chatgpt recommended we stop in for the catfish. They definitely didn't disappoint! The gumbo was great too!

I stopped by Catfish Charlie’s and ordered the combination plate with frog legs and catfish, along with a salad and beans. I also ordered a bowl of seafood gumbo and they bring hush puppies to the table while you wait. Now, I’m normally not a hush puppy fan, but these? 🔥 Absolutely the best I’ve ever had.... crisp, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, wow!. I could’ve eaten a basket of them but I wanted to eat at least some of my main entree. The main entrée, however, left me underwhelmed. The frog legs were surprisingly small and disconnected (not paired as I usually see elsewhere). That didn’t bother me as much as the flavor or lack thereof. They really need a bold marinade or better seasoning in the batter. Even hot sauce and butter couldn’t save them. The catfish was fried well, but again, it lacked flavor and didn’t present as traditional fillets, strips, or steaks, more like unrecognizable cuts. On the bright side, the beans were excellent and it's hard to sell me on beans.... these were rich, flavorful, and hearty. The salad was fresh, colorful, and delicious. But the star of the show? The seafood gumbo! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands down one of the best I’ve had. Flavor-packed, LOADED with seafood in every bite, and absolutely worth the trip. My advice: skip the plate and go straight for the gumbo and make sure you get the bowl, not the cup. If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll be back for the gumbo without hesitation.

Old CC spot for fried seafood, the catfish was good but their fried shrimp was way better. Got a shrimp salad to-go and it was amazing the following day, I'll definitely go back if given the opportunity.

The food was really good for the most part (I didn't care for the seafood gumbo, but it wasn't bad either. It wasn't a dark enough roux for my taste, and could have used more cajun seasoning). The catfish was AMAZING!! It was so meaty and tender!! All of the pieces we had were about 1" thick (pics below to show how thick the catfish was) and fried to golden perfection. If we're ever back in the CC area, my husband and I agreed that this place is a keeper.

Ya know, when I just want good seafood, no frills, sweet tea and best ever hush puppies this is where I go when I am in town. It’s a staple. Iconic. Straight forward. Great service. I hope I get to rate this Catfish Charlie's restaurant higher in the future. I got a "to go" or "take out" combo of fried fish and shrimp plate at lunch time,(Over $12 with tax). The food was good, but the fish was too skimpy, too little, I mean really little, 3 skinny pieces of fish. The shrimp were bigger than the fish pieces, and I only had 3 pieces.

I had the fish and shrimp plate earlier today with fries, beans and rice. Fish and shrimp were good, some of the fish was extra fishy. Red beans and rice didn't have much flavor. The fries were double fried or just old. They left a weird after taste, ketchup or ranch couldn't mask the taste. Was not happy with the fries at all considering they were half the plate, I feel wasn't worth $18! Will not go back for awhile. Nothing bad to say about service, she was very nice.

Food is ok, nothing special in my opinion. The fries were soggy and the fish was fried just enough to not be soggy but not crispy either.

The hushpuppies are always the stand out, every other dish seems to depend on the day. Nothing has ever been bad, but I can't say anything has ever wowed me. Service always leaves something to be desired, but they have always been friendly. I'm happy to go back, and it's a safe option, but you can do better

3.6 all day.... Passing through and looking local. Local dives usually have some great surprises when it comes to food. This one didn't have those surprises. The service was nice. The ladies are doing a great job filling orders and drinks. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. As it comes to the food, the first thing that comes to mind is... plain. The cat fish and shrimp lack flavor and a real local taste. The potato sticks were hot and fresh but needed to be cooked longer to get be cooked all the way through. One highlight was the hushpuppies and dipping sauce. If you are in the area, stop in. It is a nice place. However, do not expect the best cat fish or shrimp you have ever tasted. Cheers

We were in town visiting and stopped here before getting on the highway. Normally, my pictures are on point, but I wasn't going to do a review... changed my mind once we started eating. We ordered fried catfish, fries, frog legs, and the hush puppies, coleslaw, red beans that came with the meal. The food was filling. The restaurant was clean. Service was fast. However, the catfish was very bland. I wasn't a fan of the frog legs, coleslaw, and red beans. The hush puppies were a little spicy but flavorful. The fries tasted good. Would I recommend it? 🤔 Everyone taste is different, so you may like it. Give it a try.

The gulf coast lunch is now $14.99. My shrimp & fish were so small. $17 bucks plus a small tip. Just not worth $17 dollars, not with the little shrimp. It used to be so good. Very disappointing

Did take out. Styrofoam boxes used without lining. Hot fried food was directly placed in the box and melt through the box. Unsafe to consume some part of our food. Shrimp - 5/5 must try with the cocktail sauce! Catfish - 4/5 fish itseyvery good, tartar sauce avg. Staff who took the order was friendly.

Service was excellent. Our server Haeden was very friendly, courteous, attentive, and prompt. This was our 1st time here. We were really impressed with the service, and the place had a great relaxed feel to it. We ordered the shrimp and catfish platter. The shrimp 🍤 was excellent. It was really delicious. Unfortunately, the catfish disappointed. It needed a tad bit of salt, plus something just made it bland. I was expecting more, I guess. I was looking for that wow experience in the catfish, and it missed for me.

Quality of food has gone down a lot. Menu doesn't have a lot of good options. Jalapeño hush puppies were good though.

The food was cold the shrimp were bigger than the catfish (filets) the shrimp tasted like dish soap ,the hush puppies were cold,Cole slaw was old ,and someone needs to learn how to make tea. Our first and last trip to this place for sure.

Went here for lunch as I'd heard good things about their seafood. The food itself wasn't necessarily bad, it just had no seasoning. Like not even salt and pepper. I had fried mushrooms and the shrimp and frog legs. Inside, the vibe was pretty dark and picnic table like, wood paneled walls. The service was good, our waitress brought our food out quickly and answered questions about the menu. The price was a bit crazy considering the lack of flavor. I've spent less on better seafood in corpus. I won't be eating here again.

I was excited to try this place out. The waitress didn't seem very welcoming at all. I'm visiting from out of town and from what I saw this place looked to be popular and welcoming. When I asked about grilled options, it seemed to irritate my waitress. I had a long wait to even get offered a drink. I decided to try the special gumbo. It actually tasted pretty good. However, the shrimp in it were not deveined.

All I can say is never again! The waitress was great! I was sick for 2 days after eating the Osters shrimp and hush puppies they were all dark like they had been cooked in old grease. Even the fries were horrible. I guess you shouldn’t eat there 1 hour before they close? Idk

Spent around 80.00 Got food poisoning from the fried mushrooms, pretty sure it was old grease and possibly old mushrooms, im the only 1 that had a few and it didn't turn out well and the chicken fried steaks where tuff all 3 of them. Would not recommend at all and the hush puppies where about a half a inch in size maybe a inch but so so small, customer service was OK

It was the worst experience that I’ve had in a restaurant while on vacation we went to Catfish Charlie’s because of the reviews, and I’m sorry I don’t agree with any of them. I ordered the jalapeño crab poppers and they came out burnt, the waitress told me they weren’t burnt they were from the freezer (whatever that means) my husband ordered gumbo and it was green. I ordered seared catfish and it came on a plate of grease and was cooked in a bottle of salt. It was so horrible I had to send it back. We left after paying our bill. I don’t complain about food, but this was the worst. I will never return to this restaurant in Corpus Christi. If you see it, please keep driving and find something else.
