Opinions de Koi Japanese Steak & Sushi Corpus Christi
The best sushi in town. I have tried almost every sushi place and this is the best here in CC. I recommend it 100% especially the avocado bomb and the volcano roll 👏🏻
Honestly the most Delicious sushi I've had in a while. The atmosphere was quiet and romantic--and the service was efficient and extremely understanding. We had arrived here 30 minutes before closing and they still allowed us to eat there with no rudeness.
Fire dragon, Aka Tower, Dancing Eel, Playboy and Dynamite were awesome. Best sushi so far here in Corpus. The staff were friendly, the food came out pretty quick. We were very pleased👍👍
Goin out to lunch with my kid on a mid-January Monday is tradition. Our normal spot was shutdown due to electrical issues and I was recommended Koi by a friend. Loved the experience here. Definitely coming back again
Hands down one of the top sushi joints in town! We come here at least once per week and one of the sushi chefs Antonio is by far the friendliest and best chef we have encountered! He always has great suggestions in the event we want to try something new. My wife and I always make it a point to sit at the bar in his section. The sushi is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. My only complaint would be that even though the rest of the wait staff is friendly, we sometimes feel rushed. They sometimes bring out the check before we are even done ordering or request it, and many times we are still going to order maybe $20 worth of food/drink. Despite this, we love this restaurant, but it could improve on this issue.
My favorite place to eat it’s reasonably priced and and the food is always so good! And they have good portions!! I don’t even like sushi but they have fried sushi with everything cooked inside called the dynamite and it is sooo good. Their customer service is also great 😊
Having eaten sushi a lot, I like to think I can say how amazing this restaurant is. Easily on par with my top #1 sushi places, if you are visiting Corpus Cristi, do not pass up any chance to eat here. The service is impeccable and friendly, the beer is cold, and the food is balanced, inspired, and fitting for any Japanese food lover. 10/10 will be back.
Ate here on the 7th for my birthday. Our Habachi chef Mr Johnny Walker is a beast!!! Great personality which fueledhwr performance!!! The sushi was pretty phenomenal too. The "mexican" roll and "bushido" roll were top notch!! But if u dint like spicy, stear clear. Especially the Bushido.
This place is the bomb for my sushi cravings....so so good. We frequent thid place at least twice acweek. Pricey but its good. We go at lunch time alot . The servers all know my order pretty well. Rainbow roll is so fresh. Tsunami is a huge fave, volcano roll is scrumpious. Dancing eel is so yummm.. Can't go wrong with the steak Bento Box. Cooked to perfection Medium rare.
Loved the House roll and enjoyed the shogun roll as well. The food here is very exquisite just a bit on the pricier side and is perfectly serene with the pond and authentic decor throughout the restaurant. Was amazing if you are on a date or paying by yourself.
The food was fantastic I have the hibachi tofu with veggies and my wife had hibachi chicken. It was great most people don't get tofu right and this was probably one of four places I've been that made good tofu. The price was also quite reasonable which isn't my experience it hibachi places so I definitely will be coming back here with my wife next time we go to Corpus Christi.
They were able to squeeze us in super fast and the food was delicious! Manager was very hands on and overall super good vibes! Definitely will be coming back when we’re in the area. Great way to finish our family vacation!
Taste-wise, this is one of my favorite places for sushi in CC. They renamed from Aka to Koi but everything is still the same. Their fish is fresh, the size of the rolls are good, and their appetizers haven't disappointed me thus far. Favorite roll is the Orange Dragon which has both eel and salmon. Atmosphere-wise, I can only speak to the dining side of things because I haven't had the hibachi here in years. The little rooms off to the side are great for a little more of private feeling and especially for covid conscious people. The sitting room off to the side is great for groups too.
First time here tonight! Kasen was our server and he was wonderful. Very attentive and gave great recommendations. We will definitely be back.
One of my long time favorite sushi places in Corpus Christi. Food is very consistent and the service is always superb! I especially like the 3 little rooms where you and you dinner date can enjoy some privacy.
Amazing, helpful and friendly staff. Took my best friend with me to eat here and had a great time. The staff helped us navigate the extensive menu and pick out some great dishes. The Hibachi chef was able to carry out personal conversations with us while performing amazing tricks.
Our server guy was engaging and willing to discuss the different sushi selections to help us choose what to eat. He was a good sport and very attentive to our table. The food was delicious as well
I absolutely LOVE this place. The service is incredible and leaves me feeling comfortable and safe (especially with their Covid-19 precautions) everytime I stop by. As for the food, I have tried a ton of different items and can say with confidence that this restaurant always provides great-tasting, high-quality meals. This has to be my favorite place to eat of all time!
Dinner for two last Saturday was an amazing first experience at Koi Suchi & Hibachi in Corpus Christi. They offer a huge selection of Asian food dishes (mostly Japanese, but also Chinese and Korean options). Recommended appetizers: The Guioza (dumplings) order is really good. We also tried the sashimi sample that comes with 9 pieces (tuna, white fish and salmon), everything was super fresh and tasted great. As for Sushi, we had some Philadelphia and Tuna Skin ones, all perfectly done. Our Entrees were chicken Yakisoba dishes (Japanese stir-fried noodles with lots of veggies), excellent but we just couldn't finish them because they're quite large. Good service, easy to park, decent prices.
It was a great place, good service, AMAZING food, and very cool hibachi skills, and the cook was very talkative and easy to get along with, even told us some other spots to try and the best places to go to while we're here. All in all 10 out of 10😊
This place is OUTSTANDING, took my family here per a friend’s recommendation. Our server Marin was the best— was so knowledgeable about every item and ingredient on the menu. Her recommendations were perfect and my daughters loved them. Will make this our pre-Thanksgiving weekend tradition.
Had a bad experience trying another sushi place here in CC. So glad we tried Koi!!!!! BF and I loved everything (except the tuna app had tomatoes in it, more than the tuna). The rolls were made so well, everything very fresh. All cooked items had incredible flavors. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful!
We've gone here a few times, and I think it's the best place for hibachi in Corpus Christi. The food is always great. The Cooks are always fun to watch and have a great sense of humor. Their sushi is also very good, but we haven't tried a lot of it because we usually go for hibachi
A great find ! We absolutely love the vegan options here. The Veggie roll and the Avocado roll were fresh and tasty. The atmosphere was clean and cozy with an option of private dining spaces. The service was prompt and friendly and we are definitely coming back here.
Our food was wonderful, the menu selection is excellent with so many things to choose from. The garlic edamame was perfect, and the sushi rolls were delicious and came out quickly. Our server Priscilla was so awesome! She was attentive and sweet and always had refills ready to go. Definitely will be returning.
We dined on the hibachi side and ordered a sushi roll. Sushi was very fresh and delicious. The chef was friendly and did a fantastic job! Our waiter was also fantastic. He was the only one working the hibachi side but he showed up just as i needed him every time. Would definitely dine there again.
The service here is incredible. The servers are personable and professional. Lauren was super diligent about refilling our drinks, asking if we needed anything else & made thoughtful recommendations when we asked. She was super pleasant! The chefs greeted us and all of their regulars when they/we walked in, which felt very inviting and genuine. The food is exceptional. Their spicy edamame was the best I've had, my fiancé agreed. The sushi was incredible & consistent and their prices are really fair. The chefs and various wait staff all said goodbye to us and thanked us for coming. Their service really stood out to us, especially in comparison to other restaurants we've been to here. We'll definitely be back! This will be a regular spot for us. This place is very exceptional! Thank you for hosting a lovely date for us!
I love this place. This is hands down my favorite sushi place in Corpus. I love getting their sushi lunch combo. It's a great deal for a lot of sushi. I love their Boston roll as well. The miso soup is a great price for the amount you get, not to mention it's so good! I always get this place for lunch and they're amazing to accommodate big orders and separate tickets. I eat here a few times a month.
Food was great! Cook was Awesome! Just felt rushed! I understand they want to turn tables, but we made reservations for my daughter's college graduation dinner and barely had time for gifts....they need to acknowledge guests that are there for a party and not rush them out the door.
The Bamboo and Dynamite rolls are excellent! Fast and friendly service, and the staff read the table very well. Will always go back for more!
They didn't have exactly what I was wanting on the menu, but were super sweet about making sure I got what I wanted and it was how I wanted it. The staff was attentive but not over bearing and I'm sure was using a smile under their mask. lol The place is super clean. spaced everyone 6 feet apart, and all staff is masked up. The food was very good, super fresh, and was tender and not overly "chewy" letting me know it hasn't been sitting out for long periods of time. I will definitely be back again.
Amazing experience thanks to hibachi chef Johnny Walker, cooked the chicken and salmon to perfection. Everything was delicious also the fried rolls tasted so fresh .
The food is amazing the servers are also very funny lmao would recommend
Great good. The hibachi is so cool to watch. Reasonable prices i would say. My daughter and I had our meal paid for by another couple that we were chatting with. That was so nice of them to do that. I wish I could find out their names. Thank you for your kind gesture. I do hope to run into them again some day.
It was incredibly good. There was a "fruity" sushi that we've never even heard of that was absolutely delicious. The only negative was the seating. No padding on chairs or booths.
Arrived with a group of 7 at 5 when the dinner service started for hibachi. Originally we were sat with a couple and two of our family members had to sit spread out from us at the table. We asked to move to our own table and the staff was accommodating after clarifying the wait may be longer. Staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The chef was very personable and made the evening. Prices are fair, kid friendly, and restaurant was very clean. Would recommend.
I came in around 1 there hibachis were full but had one more seat left so they we able to fit me in. Angel my server was the nicest person ever! She made me a saki-tini which was one of the best saki drinks I’ve ever had. She took care of everyone very easy and didn’t waste time. Johnny our hibachi chef was also amazing. He made everything just the way I wanted it! I ordered the lobster tail with filet mignon, bulgogi, with fried noodles instead of fried rice. The lemon butter saki sauce for the lobster was the best part but the steak and bulgogi were both so soft I can’t decide which was my favorite! I’ll definitely be returning soon
Visiting from out of town and just came here on a whim. Best decision ever. Food is delicious and the staff are so kind and funny. The spicy garlic edamame is the best I’ve ever had and the sashimi salmon and tuna is so fresh. Don’t underestimate the squid salad either! Honestly a surprise favorite for me! Definitely a must visit if you’re in town.
Best in town for sushi! We went there on New Year's Eve and we chose the sushi side, and we were able to sit where we wanted. I like the fact that they have small nooks set aside from the main dining area. We sat in one of those nooks and it was great! Highly recommend it. As for the sushi, we ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer and the Aka Bridge. The Bridge came with two rolls and sashimi/nigiri and a choice between a seaweed or squid salad. Absolutely amazing, as the chef's special roll (which is one of the two rolls) was catered to my requests of non-fried and spicy. I liked the fact that the waitress was very informative and that I was able to "customize" it some. Our waitress was very attentive; she kept the refills coming and asked if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Service, five stars! Food, five stars! Definitely recommend it!
Some of the sizeing was a little small for my taste but that's okay. (Especially the spring rolls and crab rangoons.) Everything tasted amazing and I highly suggest the Smokey Mountain roll and Shrimp Tempura roll. I ordered over the phone and it went very smoothly. I gave a number for call back and didn't receive a call when my order was ready. I spent a decent amount of money above $100, but I expected that. Over all a great place, I would love to eat there in person next time.
Everything is great, highly recommend for a low-key night out, delicious food and among the best in the local area. Because I do visit restaurants all around US my 4/5 are comparative to high rated restaurants across the country.
Rolls were great! Did the Elaina and the Playboy roll this time. Really enjoyed the ginger dressing on the salad, very fresh and refreshing. Ofcourse, always love the light panko on the tempura dishes. When you go, ask for Laura G to be your waitress. Really enjoyed her interaction with us, her suggestions, and her service impeccable! Thanks for an enjoyable evening Laura!
Food and service is really good ! we come here for Lunch often . Keep up the great work ,See you soon again
This place was great! My family and I loved the Hibachi Chef we had! He was wonderful, interactive, funny, professional, and preformed very well! The only down side for us ( & I understand it's a pain) was that we came to celebrate my son's birthday and they didn't really do much. One server sang to him and I had to pay over $8 for a dessert.
Took my daughter for her 18th birthday to eat there. The last time I was in that building it was a pizza 🍕 place. I was impressed with the food there but I gave a 4 star cause they forgot the birthday girl sushi dish. It's a little pricey but we enjoy it.
We enjoyed it. Jordan was our chef, request him. His greeting style was enjoyable. Air vents need to be cleaned, food prep needs to be properly stored right, not on pizza trays. This is not the chefs mistakes, owners need to take accountability to have them cleaned and new stainless steel bowls with covers(restaurant styles) so there won’t be any cross contamination.
Was good.. chef was new service was good ..Could've been better but they tried and probably were worn out after serving over 500 off anus before us they stay busy .
If you’re looking for great hibachi and sushi in Corpus Christi, Koi Japanese Steak & Sushi is a must-visit! The food is incredible — fresh, high-quality ingredients and full of flavor. The hibachi chefs are not only skilled but super entertaining, making the whole dinner an experience, not just a meal. We tried several sushi rolls and hibachi entrees, and everything was spot on. Great service, clean atmosphere, and fair pricing for the quality you get. Highly recommend for date night, family dinners, or any special occasion. One of the best dining spots in town!
I love this place. Sat in one of the little side rooms , so private. I had a Rolando roll with eel sauce on the side. It is so good , but with the huge piece of salmon on top if each roll , I needed extra plate , I took salmon off top , turned it on side ,added Wasabi ( which was very mild) and soy sauce. Then, ate the salmon separately. The downside to being in a private room is that you don't get checked on as much. The service was ok , but could have checked more . But the food is delicious.
Overall, a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is upbeat and all the staff was friendly. We were seated quickly. I enjoyed having a small private room with our own table, it made the experience feel more catered to our party. The only issue I had with the food was that a few things were missing from our meals such as rice, salad dressing, and sauces. They were brought out when we were nearly finished with our meals. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. It was a great experience and I will be going back.
Food and service rates pretty much equal in my book, so had the best service compare to the food. Husband ordered sashimi $77.00 which were very thinly sliced and definitely not worth the money. $11.00 for 5 thin slices of everything but the salmon and tuna which was for sure not sashimi grade. Not a food critic but definitely have 30+ years of experience when it comes to fresh seafood. This was a close-up photo.
The spicy tuna, the Philadelphia and the California rolls were on point, so was the eel sauce. The hibachi grill chef was good The food was very bland, they need to allow the chef's to use more garlic, ginger, more spices to give the food flavor. Yes, it's about the hibachi experience, but. If they're going to charge premium prices for the food, then the food should have a lot more flavor.
I was grateful for the staff, they were quick, friendly and professional. Our food was prepared quickly and tasted good. I wasn't able to get the bulgolgi unfortunately. Perhaps I can try it if we come back another time. The dining room itself seems dark and there was a funky smell that was distracting. We sat in a side room with the door shut. That worked for us, and it let me relax a bit, knowing that we wouldn't be disturbing anyone, since I was eating with small children. If they were able to do a bit of a remodel, I would think it would bring in more customers.
Our first time to eat here. It was only four in our group and they charged us a gratuity of 18% ! Which is bullshit cause everywhere else we have been gratuity is added to parties of 6 or more! Won't be back !!!!!!
As a frequent customer (I actually already had a to go order this week) I was extremely put off this evening by our server Alizayah. She was very busy on her phone which was fing with her mood which then fed with her money. The tip I did leave was because I’m not the kind of person to stiff someone. She started off very meh and it only went down hill. She was slow at taking our order between apps and entree so we had a huge gap in service. All while you could see her just texting on her phone. We asked for ginger twice to which she brought wasabi? Some other guy started helping her because she was just standing in the corner on her phone. She never check on us until we were done. All and all it was a weird experience and possibly the worst service I have had this year. At one point I said thank you and she said mhm. Excuse me? This girl should go home and try again tomorrow.
2 stars. No more. Pretty sure the staff was high as a kite. My issue isn't with you getting high at work. It's with you forgetting parts of our order (multiple times), utensils, drinks, the bill, and oh yeah here's the icing on the cake...you forgot to tell us about the gratuity you snuck into our bill. It was lunch on a weekday!. 4 people (2 teens) so why in the hell did you grat us OR not tell us upfront??? The food sucked anyway....too much butter and very little flavor. And WOW is the place is dirty. Go look at the grill surfaces and the grill hoods. Havent been degreased in years. Its all Overpriced. It's a shame, the menu has potential but the business desperately needs a reface and new management.
They have been bought out. New management. Told it would be a 45 minute wait. We waited 1 hr and 50 minutes. Management said they would discount our meals. There were three of us, they took off $8. The food was so-so. They used too much butter so it gave the food a weird taste. They also mixed the meat, veggies and noodles together while cooking them. The noodles were regular pasta noodles, not the usual. The one by Olive Garden and the mall is better.
Waitress had 4-6 tables and was completely overwhelmed. 10 min to take our drink order. Another 10 for our food order, and when the appetizer arrived we didn't have plates so I has to put food on a napkin for my toddler. And our beer was spilled while she poured it but didn't notice and so we had to use all of our napkins to clean it up and when we asked for more she asked what happened to the ones I put down earlier. Hostes/ management just waited and the front never helped.
The cross contamination here is very bad. I have a shellfish allergy I notified them of and they made sure there was no shrimp at the table, but I still ended up having an anaphylactic reaction. I'm unable to reach them by phone to let them know because it gives an error about mailbox not being set up yet. The food was mediocre but our chef was awesome and very friendly.
Sushi was mediocre, at best. Service today was the worst. The server only refilled my water at the end of our visit, right before she left the check. Two separate people brought my tables food out about 15 minutes apart. Chopsticks were never offered and not once did the server come and check on us after we ordered.
Do not come hungry!!! Waited 30 min to get our drinks ordered and another 15 till our sodas came out. They were not busy at all. Unless you are a big group/party they really won’t pay attention to you. Another table waited even longer than we did. Food was not the best, ordered a stake a shrimp, because some one at the table ordered teriyaki every ones food was covered in the sauce. Like the chef covered the rice as well. If I’m paying $35 for a stake I don’t want it smothered in sauce. The rice was hard and over cooked. So unless you want to tip the chef extra while they are cooking to get your food right it will not be worth the price.
I ordered a rainbow in the rainbow. It had avocado an imitation shrimp cooked if I wanted. Avocado, in my bro I would have asked for it, but I didn't. I wanted raw fish on top of the rainbow. It's called tuna salmon, yellow, fan smoked salmon, all the fishes, but avocado is not A fish and then I asked for a role tuna hot spicy. It's not hot spicy. They put jalapeno on top of the tuna. High spicy means you smash the do you know? Let me grind it with hot spicy mail and stuff. It's hot spicy They add jalapeno on top. That's not a spicy tuna. Was not impressed at all. There might be amateurs years back, this place didn't even exist. Oh, how much I miss Kobe's Japanese steakhouse? It was an awesome sushi, awesome people awesome back then. Nobody knew what sushi was not like Mr. Singh. These people know who he is, and he is the name of the chef chef of all times But this I pay $18 almost for a rainbow row, it's not even for fish very disappointed. Did I pay my dudes? And I pay my bill because Jamie is a donation to this restaurant that I won't want ever come again. Take pictures of everything and let me tell you. That is not a rainbow
I am Very Disappointed. The service was good from our waitress, hence the one star. The owner was nervous energy and did take off the drink we ordered which was pina colada saketini. It tasted like sour milk was mixed in. My salad came very late. An hour later I was finally delivered my sushi roll. The Sushi primarily the salmon and whitefish was not fresh and had gristle. The Tuna tasted good in the medley. The entire meal was not good and I will not go back to AKA. Our meal was over $50. We spoke to the owner and our waitress and still paid for the meals without anything except the drink taken off our check. I am a business owner, and I wouldn't feel right sending out a dissatisfied customer. We were clear with them about our experience and I feel they could have handled everything, especially our check.
I think the stir fry rice from Walmart is better. No flavor and chicken for the price of meals. The place smelled like urine and host needs more training of customer service. Over all experience was trash. I don't understand how they won best Japanese restaurant in 2021, and to top it off they charged $1 for to go sauce lol. Times are tough I reckon.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. This place is disgusting. We are in from out of town and wanted hibachi. With the great ratings we decided to go here. Hibachi table was broken, tea was horrible and grease actually leaked from the vent hood onto my wife's arm. We left and did not eat. I would eat off of the floor before I ate anything from this ran down filthy rathole. The health department should shut it down.
Ordered the Dynamite, thinking it would be spicy, but was more of a "dud". Also,, ordered the Spider, cute presentation and flavor, but too expensive for the serving size. Should've gone to HEB Sushiya!! But the server was nice and attentive. But no future visits for ma.
Service was great, sushi was poor. It's sad because the downtown location is one of my favorite places. The yellowtail sashimi was almost not edible. I ordered two specialty rolls and there were pieces that I couldn't even find fish in. I understand times might be a little hard but people don't come to a sushi restaurant to eat rice and pour quality fish.
Owner is rude unprofessional and treats staff/customers poorly I just had the most awful experience I’m literally shaking from anger!!! We took Sophia out for dinner at koi for her 10th birthday bc she has been begging to do hibachi ! Also let me just say the staff was amazing it was literally the owner who was awful her unprofessionalism and how she spoke to us and yes i know her English is not great but its still no excuse !!Right off the bat she came in seeming like she was annoyed! We had a big party and had to sit at two separate hibachi tables which was fine everything was great ! It was only after when I pulled the waitress aside when the chefs left and we were finishing up eating to let her know that the steamed rice I ordered for Sophia and I we never got and I didn’t want to be charged extra for it and at that time Sophia also came to me from the habachi table across from mine and told me in front of the waitress she didn’t get any chicken with her meal only rice and vegetables when the waitress heard that she said oh okay I will look into that! I never once said i wouldn’t pay for my meal or anything else i fully intended on paying the full meal heck we were still going to order dessert! All of sudden the owner starts being loud and having a huge fit over my one ticket ! I told my husband let’s just go ahead and pay as is and leave we approach the counter and and the owner is being very rude towards me and I said you don’t need to speak to me like that I just wanna pay and not be charged for the food I didn’t receive Sophia‘s hibachi plate was $33 and she only got rice and vegetables. I didn’t feel like it was OK for me to pay $33 for a meal she didnt even receive the entire plate ! After that, the owner then looked to Sophia and said why didn’t you say anything? I immediately put my hand over Sophia and told her don’t talk to my daughter you’re talking to me she then still continued at Sophia. I then started to get angry with her because she was yelling at Sophia almost making her cry and I said we were sitting at two separate hibachi tables because we had a huge party. I could not see that she did not get any meat on her plate so then the owner turned to me and started yelling. Well, why didn’t you say anything to the chef I’d repeated to her again mind you I’m not yelling. The owner is yelling at me and sophia the staff apologized multiple times to me and was so embarrassed by how she treated us !! Koi doesn’t open til 5 we got there early and everything to make sure we got a hibachi table big enough for 11 people because we were such a big table and we had to sit at two hibachi tables. We had to have two chefs we were the first ones in the restaurant and last one to be served it was over an hour before we got served after other parties that came in after us! Never again !!! I will not support a restaurant that goes at children and yells at them for a mistake not dont by them but the chef’s restaurant!!!
Took my wife for her birthday dinner. Horrible experience….chef undercooked the rice and chicken….explained to the manager and she blamed us…went back to kitchen and then proceed to tell my family it was not undercooked…I have experience cooking…good luck to anyone who comes here…over priced and another employee stated to my family this wasn’t the first time … will not be coming back, your choice, Takeniwa would never ….
The cook was good.. let me tell you.. that 18% mandatory tip was ridiculous. The waitress kept messing up our order.. Went for lunch.. OVERPRICED! Go somewhere else.. I do not recommend. It’s not worth $30 a plate.. the rice was like precooked, like they got it from a frozen section of the grocery store.. spent $200 on 3 adults and 2 kids.. not worth it. *sidenote.. I’m not cheap, and I don’t mind buying a good meal. This was not it.. I felt like a slap to the face w the ridiculous bill
If I could give it a 0 stars I would! The food was nasty, the manager was so rude !!! Definitely not going back.
they had a big party coming in and they rushed us. Off our. Habachi table she couldn't understand what I was saying. Before all that They had tooken our plates when we left to wash our hands after they spilt the drink on our arms cam back with no food on our table .SMH
Big party and was not able to experience that hibachi show. Was sat at the end of the another hibachi table. I asked if we could have an extra chef. So we could enjoy the show. The manager said no and were not able about to watch the show. I'm not going to pay money to see someone's back. Thank you
We previously had celebrated a Birthday here and loved our experience. My mother decided to return to celebrate her birthday dinner here this weekend, I called ahead to make arrangements for a party of 10-12. Upon arrival we (8) were seated and asked if our party was complete which it was not, we explained that we had 4 more coming inside from the parking lot, and was rudely told they could only accommodate 10 per grill due to having one chef on staff on a SATURDAY and proceeded to argue that I did not say 10-12 that on the phone ect. all prior to even taking our drink orders while another large party was having their meals made on another grill overseeing and listening to how we were being spoken to. As you can imagine, that family was sympathetic to us seeing that we ended up leaving to go somewhere else. As we were leaving their staff member rudely said out loud "They can leave! We stay busy anyway!" This is incredibly distasteful, out of all of the establishments in town who serve the same type of food and atmosphere, my mother chose to come here on her special day only to be rushed out and spoken to rudely because they would not accommodate 2 extra people. Its a true shame, but I will NEVER be returning and would not recommend anyone to go here again. We were there to celebrate and pay good money for a good time and memories to be made. They have lost a group of good paying customers.
While the food was definitely good, it was not worth the 2.5 hour wait. I completely understand waiting an 1-1.5 hours for a table, but then waiting an additional hour and 15 minutes for the chef was unacceptable. 3 other tables were able to be seat, be served, eat, pay, and leave before we even saw a cook for our food. When my husband tried to explain this to the owner, they were incredibly rude to my husband when checking out as well.
Sushi was great! We had to wait almost an hour after being seated before one of us were served what was ordered & even then, one person in our group was finished before others were served. The price was acceptable but we were charged a ridiculous tip by our server. I almost always tip generously but on this occasion, a lesser tip would have been appropriate. Since the food was great, I would go back, but I would ask for quicker service and a different server.
THE PLACE IS OK,ITS THE SERVICE THAT SUCKS ! THEY WERE RUSHING US OUT I WAS STILL EATING AND THEY WERE PICKING UP THE PLATES NO NAPKINS WHEN WE ASKED FOR THEM TOOK A WHILE B4 WE GOT OUR SALADS AND SO ON!!!
Came with the family to have dinner and as soon as we walked in and said we were 6 , the owner rolled her eyes. When I asked how long of a wait for a table, she answered with an extremely bad attitude. We ended up leaving. Unbelievable that the owner acts this way.. being busy is a good thing! Now we understand why she is always short handed.
I Ordered off of favor and it took a long time on favors end due to no runners apparently, I called them to ask about my order and the lady on the phone was very rude and stated my order was sitting on the counter and would be until it was picked up, I ordered raw fish and explained to her that it was probably going to be a while to which to responded there was nothing she could do on their end. After almost 2 hours I received warm raw fish, yum. I wasn’t looking for a refund I am aware my money went to favor and not directly to their establishment but damn at least put it in the fridge or something. After a long wait I was too scared to eat it.
Honestly one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I’ve had. The place looks nothing like it does online. When you walk in, it’s cramped, low-ceiling, and smells unpleasant — the whole vibe feels dingy and claustrophobic. We sat down and ordered drinks, then planned to share an entrée since we were also getting sushi. That’s when they told us we can’t share food because of some weird house rule. Being told how you’re allowed to eat the food you’re paying for is ridiculous. We decided to leave, and suddenly the energy changed. The server made us pay for drinks we hadn’t even touched before fully setting them down. So we’re standing there awkwardly paying for stuff we didn’t even get to enjoy. Between the misleading online vibe, strange rules, and how it was handled, it felt unwelcoming and unnecessary. Not coming back.
Severely disappointed! I cant believe this place is still open for business. We had not had hibachi in a while and first tried Takeniwa to discover that it was closed. So back up option was Aka to discover that it was now Koi steakhouse. We gave it a shot and regret every bit. We sat in the dining area which was our first mistake. Our server was amazing and very attentive and was not his fault the food sucked. We got the triple combo appetizer which was bland, spicy crunchy roll which was bland. There was nothing on the menu that was similar to the hibachi so I settled for terriyaki chicken with the hibachi soup. It came with a very thin layer of cabbage, hard veggies and a pile of mash potatoes n gravy which was very odd. My eggrolls were burnt and not edible. Nothing had flavor. Will NEVER be back!
