We had a great experience having dinner here. The restaurant is modern and beautifully designed, with a bit of an industrial chic look. The food was tasty though on the slightly pricey side. The service was good and efficient. It's great for a date night or dinner with a few friends. I would come back.
Manpuku is Japanese style BBQ restaurant. I ate Manupuku premium Omakase. It includes from appetizer to dessert. Every meat is US Kobe. US Kobe "Sukiyaki" is really good. (including the following beef; US Kobe Filet, Boneless short rib, Chunk flap, Miso skirt steak) I like garlic fried rice too. Try Manupuku premium Omakase. You will love it. ❤️ ----------------------------- Quality of meat is really good, so it is a little more expensive than normal Korean restaurants. I would like to recommend to eat Kobe Otoro Sashi. Beef quality is fantastic. When you eat this, it will automatically melt in your mouth. Usually, people like to eat Jo Kabi, and Jo Rib Rosu. Also, quality is really good and the taste is really good If you order assorted Seafood, you can eat variety sea food with some vegitables such as carrot, bell pepper, onion, corns etc. At the end, try to order Garlic rice or Bibimmen. If you visit here, you will be satisfied with quality of meat and their services.
We stumbled upon this place spontaneously at 11:30pm on a Saturday night and are soooo glad we did. We had the wagyu omakase and it was the most delicious & incredible evening! There were only a few other people in the restaurant and our server was so attentive, kind, and helpful. Everything was amazing and we can’t wait to come back!!!
Authentic Japanese BBQ with top-quality meats—especially the short rib and Wagyu! Cozy vibe, great service, and the pear juice is a must. Always a treat!
This is my favorite restaurant hands down. I wish we had one in Arizona. Not sure what needs to happen to make that happen, but it has to happen soon. Been here at this location twice this week, and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Food The food has been absolutely the best, the quality, freshness, and flavors are all out of this world. It’s amazing to taste the different flavors that each cut of meat, with seasoning brings you. Atmosphere Since I have travelled quite frequently around the world, when I am here, I feel like I’m in Japan. It’s a small, nice, warm cozy Japanese feeling restaurant but it’s big enough for us big Americans. Clean - super clean. They take time to clean up each table thoroughly. Staff We have mostly interacted with the ladies that work here. They have been so accommodating and friendly. They always have a smile, and willing to explain the dishes to you. They were also very helpful in getting us in early when another table finished up early. I really appreciate the effort these ladies took to get us in. Overall This is absolutely my favorite restaurant. In comparison to the Yakiniku restaurants I have been to in Japan, Thailand, China, Las Vegas, etc, this one as well as the other locations (Torrance and downtown LA) have been absolutely outstanding every time. Very happy. I will always be back to see these ladies smile and experience their friendliness and amazing fabulous food. Conclusion: If you are in LA, you must try it. No exceptions!
Heard about this place for so long and finally tried it last night. It truly did not disappoint. Atmosphere was very nice.. you take your shoes off and walk up the steps and into the room. Meat and seafood was really fresh and delicious. The soup was good too. Customer service was on point. I also recommend you to make reservations. This place is always busy. A must try! Merry Christmas everyone! =)
First time trying it last night and was very pleased. Felt like I was dining in Japan. Really do love the small, low light atmosphere that gives it an intimate feel. For the food, just about all of the beef cuts that I had here were nicely marbled and delicious. Try the Tokyo style prime short rib, prime ribeye, prime outside skirt, and prime short rib. Certain cuts have a nicely flavored marinade to them. I’d also recommend trying their juices, especially the pear flavor as they’re freshly made in house. Don’t forget to try the sweet potato ice cream dessert before you leave. Very unique.
We ordered Prime Tastings Combo. The meat's quality is fantastic. I would recommend to make a reservation. This is a very popular BBQ place.
Taste :4.8/5 Environment: 4.5/5 Service:4.6/5 Such an authentic Japanese bbq where you grill your own meat. They provide selection of high quality meat such as Kobe beef and Kobe tongue . It’s the best tongue I ever had in My life so far 🤣! The staffs are accommodating and friendly ! Suggest you make the reservation on open table firstly . Everything is so good except for the fire rice was kind of cold . Limited parking spaces ! You would either need the luck or need to wait a little bit ! Recommend 💛 US BEEF TASTING 💛beef tongue
Always an enjoyable experience, i take my parents atleast 1-2 times a month, we usually get the kobe Course comes with about 12 or so different premium items on the menu from kimichi, salad, edamame, kobe/wagyu meats, shrimp and rice including dessert. Menu is available online and seating would be best resevered, call ahead, limited seating.
Stopped by for a late dinner and for more than expected. Really just want some oxtail soup and maybe a few skewers, but found this place was much more than yakitori. Like a mix of KBBQ but with high quality cuts more like shabu. I’m sure there is a name for this, but I don’t know it. Oxtail soup was very good, but reminded me of Korean beef bone broth as well, just elevated. As for the meat, they has a special on Japanese A5 wagyu brisket for $18 which was awesome. Simply salted and came with salad and light citrus dipping sauce. Also tried the signature short rib with green onion and salt which was also very good and came with its own dipping sauce. Last but not least, we tried the prime outside skirt or hirami in spicy miso. They have two options for a marinade, sweet like teriyaki or spicy miso, they just don’t volunteer that. Service was very good but they obviously have certain preferences for how you should enjoy their food and should help newbies more. Not sure if they were trying to be overly polite or accommodating, but once we got past that and we explicitly asked them to guide us, we were all good. They changed out the grill often and checked with us many times after that. Prices were very food for the quality of meat as well.
I believe this is the authentic Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese family ,the meat is so tender, the service is great ,the environment is very japanes style ,love it
This is the Costa Mesa outlet of Manpuku Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant. Most of the beef are USDA Prime or American Wagyu type cuts. They did offer 3.5 oz Grade A5 chuck steak sliced to 6 pieces at $68. We ordered quite a variety of cuts including tongue, skirt steak, hanger steak, ribeye, etc. Their butter fried rice was a bit small to share but was quite good. Kimchi sample is also good but a bit pricy. They give you a free ice cream plate for your birthday. Parking is quite limited on this popular strip mall due to other quite popular restaurants, tea shops and bar inside.

We had the A5 Wagyu Omakase and it did not disappoint, especially the A5 umami rice. Portion size was smaller than expected and the dining area a bit cramped but service was very warm and friendly. We will be back!
We ordered pork cheek, pork belly with lettuce, sukiyaki wrap, Kobe beef tongue, angus prime beef tongue, Kobe short ribs, Kobe ribeye, prime rib cap, prime ribeye, salad, assorted mushroom, black sesame pudding with rice ball, garlic fried rice, Tokyo negi rice, and mochi with strawberry ice cream. The meat is marinated with soy sauce, leading to a slightly salty and sweet taste. . I can taste the differences between Kobe rib eye and prime rib eye. Kobe rib eye worths it. However. I cannot tell the differences between Kobe beef tongue and prime beef tongue. They are both good. Don’t forget to fold the beef tongue and wrap the onions in it when barbecue. This could prevent the onions from falling out. I love the pork cheek with yozu sauce and the pork belly with lettuce. The garlic fried rice tastes batter than the negi rice. I like the staffs here, they are friendly🥳 The one who served our table gave us good recommendations on how to barbecue and what tastes good. The recommendation is useful. Regarding the parking, you can get a permit from the store if you cannot find a spot in the parking lot. Remember to make a reservation in GoogleMap beforehand and enjoy the meal. $ $55/ppl after tax
The cabbage salad is a unique salad with a delicious miso garlic? dressing. The assorted kim chee is a must. We did the $45 per person pre fixe menu. This was the first time, though I've been coming here for years. It was a lot of food, so definitely worth the money. However, I really prefer just ordering the salted prime and tongue. It's more depending on how much you eat, but the pre fixe might be too much food for most. Great value though. The one thing I don't like is getting rushed. They try to get you out in 2 hours, but we were only there for an hour and they immediately brought the check. One of my pet peeves when you are paying $300 for four people. Oh and they have a great ox tail soup, but didn't have it this time. Parking is also a pain.

I have been here 3 times. The first two times were great. The most recent time I went, they gave us very small portions of meat. It was not worth the money at all. It was 27 dollars for 4 little pieces of rib eye. It is way overpriced for what you get.

We’ve been coming to Manpuku BBQ often, and our past experiences were pretty good. However, this time was quite disappointing. We ordered the uni and beef, but the portion seemed smaller than before, and the uni was not fresh at all—it had a strong, unpleasant taste that was so unbearable I had to rinse my mouth with water. It was honestly inedible. We went around 9 PM, close to their closing time, so maybe that was a factor, but this shouldn’t happen regardless. Hope they improve their quality control.

Overall, it was extremely terrible. Expensive with awful service. The food was unappetizing and portions were small, not nearly enough. A Japanese waitress treated me very poorly and rushed me to pay the bill even though no one was waiting for a seat. In short, every aspect was absolutely horrible. It was the worst Japanese BBQ I've ever had. Do not come here.

The service was extremely bad! After we had been there for just one hour, a male server kept rushing us to leave. We were forced to grill two plates of meat all at once. To make room for new customers at the neighboring table, they moved half of the partition onto our table while we were still eating our dessert and asked us to pay immediately. When we asked why they didn’t inform us about the time limit when we ordered, especially since we hadn’t even reached their supposed “1.5 hours” limit, they had no reasonable explanation. Please remember, terrible service is worth 0 pennies. It was a highly disrespectful experience!
I came in tonight and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience. I gave 1 star not only because of the food, but mainly because of the service and attitude. The server did not check the receipt properly and then chased me all the way to my car asking about his tip. His attitude was extremely unprofessional and aggressive, which made the situation very uncomfortable. This kind of behavior toward customers is completely unacceptable and left a very negative impression.
