Opinions de Dylan's Restaurant Criccieth Criccieth
Perched above the tidal estuary with one of the most arresting views on the Llŷn Peninsula, Dylan’s Criccieth continues to justify its reputation as a dependable standard-bearer for contemporary Welsh dining. The menu is confidently rooted in Wales, with local produce allowed to speak clearly rather than being overworked. Seafood arrives fresh and assured: mussels plump and brimming with the taste of the coast, fish cooked with precision and restraint. Meat dishes show similar care, balancing generosity with finesse, while vegetarian options feel considered rather than incidental. There is an appealing lack of pretension in the cooking. Flavours are clean, portions are honest, and the kitchen demonstrates the quiet confidence that comes from knowing both its ingredients and its audience. Desserts, often an afterthought elsewhere, are handled with polish and restraint, favouring comfort and clarity over gimmickry. Service is warm, professional and well paced, striking the right note between efficiency and genuine hospitality. Staff are knowledgeable without being intrusive, and the dining room hums with an easy, inclusive atmosphere. Dylan’s Criccieth is not interested in chasing trends. Instead, it offers something far more valuable: consistency, integrity and a deep sense of place. It remains one of North Wales’ most reliable destinations for food that is thoughtful, unfussy and quietly memorable.
Great welcome and service throughout, delicious food and drinks. Initially told no draught drinks due to an issue but as they only had lager in bottles and my husband wanted beer they managed to isolate the line with a problem so they could still serve him IPA! Nicole was our server and she was so friendly and helpful, it really made our night, thank you!
Really lovely food that is well priced and in a relaxed atmosphere. The building is also a beautiful art deco design exquisitely placed overlooking the sea. Absolutely recommend!
Fantastic restaurant in a wonderful old building with great views of the castle and beach. Delicious food from an unusual menu. The Cuban calzone was very interesting and the rhubarb meringue pie was amazing. Rather expensive but it was worth it.
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE BLAAAST!!! ALL THE FOOD IS SOOOO SOOO SOOOO DELICIOUS!!! I cannot simply believe and the STAFF members are very professional and polite !!!! If I could give 100 Star rating I WOULD!!!
WOW!! My partner and I decided to escape for a night away due to a local event that we wanted to attend and made an evening of it. Booked a table here for an 8pm sitting. Instantly that atmosphere was spot on. The staff were wonderful, very friendly, attentive but not overly so. And the food... well, it was perfect 👌 Every course presented beautifully, absolutely delicious and served wonderfully. Drink selection was also excellent with a good variety of choice. Back ground music was a perfect level, easily talk to your company and still be able to enjoy the atmosphere We highly recommend, if you're staying local or passing through, 110% worth a visit We had 3 alcoholic beverages each (2 people) and each had 3 courses
We tried the Criccieth restaurant of Dylan's. Lovely setting in front of the sea. They have a small van at the front if you wish to just stop for a drink and sit outside. The restaurant itself, you can sit outside or inside. We sat inside next to the windows overlooking the sea, no steps so easy access for those who have difficulty walking. Service was excellent from all the staff we interacted with. Food was amazing, we had fish dishes and you could tell it was super fresh. We went at lunch and we dressed casually, as did everyone else. I would highly recommend.
We booked an inside table as we were dining with two dogs and they have a specific area set aside for this (but not hidden out of the way or anything!). The service was very friendly and the food was incredible. Garlic bread was one of the best my friend has ever had and I absolutely loved the gambas pil pil. We'd highly recommend!
Amazing food and fantastic service from our waiter Torin. Love the seasonal decorations. Thank you for a perfect evening.
The food is amazing service is excellent and fast. We ordered the calamari, fish tacos, halumi burger, chicken pharm pasta and the beef lasagna all highly recommended...
We enjoyed Dylan’s in Menai so much recently that when we visited Criccieth we just had to book again to try out another of their tasty meals and it didn’t disappoint. The location is perfect right on the seafront, inside is light and bright with a lovely atmosphere and the staff are all lovely too. The food was delicious paired with a nice bottle of wine. I had the biggest lobster I’ve ever eaten and still found room for a pudding.
Having visited 7 years ago whilst on holiday in the area, this place was on our list for a return visit when we decided to come to the Llyn Peninsula again. Fortunately there was a table available for our weekday lunch and the place soon filled up. As I love truffle, I chose the walk in the woods pizza and my husband had the seabass tacos. Our children enjoyed their meals too, and there is a good children's menu, along with great veggie options. Cash payments are not accepted. Hopefully it won't be another 7 years until our next visit.
Nice location Lovely building overlooking the sea Attentive staff Lovely food , salt and vinegar white bait followed by sea bream tacos both are very tasty
A rather unique building and every table has a sea view. Critall curved windows curved around building in classical art deco style. Modern interior is fresh and chic. Service relaxed and friendly. Food choices different and presentation sublime Food piping hot . Predominantly seafood but does pizza too. ..and pasta. Sells its own sayces/ pickles ect. Very busy for a weds night out of season. Definitely book a table
Great restaurant in an art deco building right on the seafront. Good choice of food reasonably priced. Would recommend!
We had really nice evening celebrating GCSEs results with my daughters. Server was very attentive and friendly. Food was very tasty
Fantastic find. Lovely food, good atmosphere and great service by Keira. This experience made our Holiday. Great selection of dishes and if the weather had been as good as the food, we'd have sat outside on the waters edge.
What a find! Stunning views, art deco interiors, and service and food way beyond what I expected. We came here twice whilst staying in the area for a walk up Snowdon. The service was great throughout and the food was perfect. We sat in both restaurants (one is a sort of conservatory style and the other is more of a restaurant feel. I had calamari for starter and steak and chips the first night and then (as it was so good) had steak and chips the next. We had just two of us for dinner the first night and then 10 the second and the service was second to none. Really friendly and helpful team. Very much made to feel welcome. Great choice of food but not too much that the menu overwhelms you, good choice of wines, and a choice of alcohol-free beers, too. Only downside was the coffee machine was out of order but a lemon and ginger tea - served with a proper pot and made with leaves and stuff (technical term) was very nice indeed. Super little place. Parking nearby (Pay-by-phone app) and if the sun’s out you’ll see a sunset, too.
The restaurant is located by the sea, it has beautiful views, you can see the castle and also great views of Harlech. Excellent service. Delicious food. Good selection of wines. Staff friendly, made their best efforts to accommodate gluten free needs.
Been coming here for years and as always great all round! The restaurant was busy but the service and food were at the usual high standards! Well done! Initially we were a table of 2 and Dylan’s went out their way to accommodate us to a table of 6 and a baby when we bumped into some friends! Thank you for going the extra mile!!
Ate at Dylan's in Criccieth today for lunch as we were craving seafood and it was nearly time to go home to the east of England. Between us we had scallops, sea bream tacos, king prawns and mussels and it was all of excellent quality in a lovely setting with brilliant staff. Highly recommend, especially if you're jonsing for seafood. Hope to be back next year (at the latest).
My wife and I ate here on Saturday 13th July 2025. The food was superb, very tasty and well presented and only matched by the excellent service we received. We shall for sure be attending again at this local restaurant.
Food is fantastic. I had the braised blade of beef and the meat was falling apart and beautifully cooked. The best meal I have had in a long time. My husband had the aphrodite pizza (goats cheese and parma ham) and said it was exceptional! My toddler had a kids cheese and tomato pizza and chips, thoroughly enjoyed it. Had a trio of desserts after, can't fault it. With all three of us and a round of drinks was £100 (and a tip). The view is beautiful and the staff were lovely. Recommended if in the area 👌 👍
Lovely venue, lots of Dylan's own label products on display for purchase. Dog friendly venue, allocated seating if you bring a pet. Service was a bit slow but that's due to the venue being fully booked. Great variety on the menu as well as drinks. Food was delicious, fresh and well presented.
What an amazing restaurant! Visited for my birthday after spending a weekend in Wales. I had the lobster which was stunning along with a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant as they source all local produce and prices are reasonable. My boyfriend mentioned it was my birthday so they came out with a cute message; a very personal touch. Keep up the great work and can’t wait to return one day!
The food was fresh and tasted delicious. Loved the style of the building that it’s situated in! We were sat by the window so our meal was accompanied by the lovely view of the seaside.
This was a really good lunch experience. All the food we ordered was really good and we had a great view, despite sitting inside. The lentil ragu lacked a bit of salt, but there was salt on the table so we could adjust to our liking (which was better). The highlight was definitely the fish, it was cooked well and the sauce was really good. Would definitely recommend coming here.
We had a wonderful meal here on Christmas Eve for my son's birthday. Excellent, friendly service and delicious food. Can highly recommend the hake and the pork. The cocktails were also very good!
What a lovely experience eating at Dylans Criccieth The service was fabulous. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. The food was to die for. I had the prawn dish and my other half had tacos. Both were prepared perfectly. We were on holiday so had our dog with us but nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Mabel even had a gravy bone much to her delight. Well done guys a lovely eating experience.
We've been to a few Dylan's restaurants in North Wales and they're all pretty excellent. What you get is basically local food which is prepared nicely in a great location. It's never cheap but the quality is there. So their restaurant in Criccieth very much follows this template. Whether inside or out you've got a stunning view over the beach without having to worry about the breeze or getting soaked by a shower. You can also bring your dog which is a bonus. As for the food I went for the fish stew which was hearty with solid pieces of marine life. They also do a nice line in pizzas which seem to go down well. With a cold beer at hand what could be better? Apart from the parking, which they don't provide, it's a great place to visit.
What a great place. Location is wonderful right at the edge of an amazing sandy beach running off into the distance. We were going to eat inside, but I really fancied the crab sandwich, so we stayed out, and a dude in a mini airstream knocked up our lunch in minutes. Indoors has a 1920s lido feel, and the food is more high brow. On an early sunny spring day, eating a crab roll with a sublimely ace coffee was a great choice and set us up for the day. Lovely place. Lovely staff and great food. Highly recommended 👌🏻
Great place for a Saturday night with friends and family. The staff are brilliant and the food was really tasty and fresh.
Went in twice whilst we were staying near Criccieth, both times for a late lunch/early tea. They were extremely catering for us with our dog, giving us a lovely seat outside the first time and inside the second as we went a bit later in the afternoon. The food was lovely with super generous portion sizes. There was an interesting range of drinks, including non alcoholic which I appreciated as someone who doesn’t drink. When we sat inside, as it was a sunny day the sun was coming through the very large windows, as beautiful as those windows are they could maybe use a blind or something
Delicious and delightful! Right by the sea. We ate outside. It was so lovely. The staff were quick and courteous. Food was wonderful! I had the Millionaires pizza and my husband had the catch of the day with creamy sauce so good he left no trace. I would definitely go again!
Lunchtime delight! This fantastic restaurant impressed from start to finish. Punctual service, mouthwatering lamb tacos as a starter, and the "chicken in a basket" was divine! Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere - a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really relaxed vibe, amazing and helpful staff who really lovely and attentive. Food was amazing, mussels were 10/10! Only negative was the size of the crab nachos, there was about 5/6 nachos with crab topping for £10 (but were delicious) everyone loved their meal! Would defiantly visit again!
We booked the Christmas Menu for a pre-Christmas celebration. The food was fantastic and we appreciated the ability to pre-book as well as to indicate our complicated dietaries due to allergies. The servers made sure to repeat our orders to us and refresh their understanding of the allergies involved. We never felt as if we were awkward. We enjoyed our 3 courses in this lovely warm restaurant while there was a high wind outside. What a great experience. We will be back.
From the outside (at night) it looks stunning, high expectations! This Sat night it was rammed, expectations fell tbh, but that wasn't fair at all. Despite being what looked like fully booked, the service was excellent, barely had to wait for any course but clearly was not just reheated. Kitchen and waiting staff were on point. The food was excellent too. Had the lamb hash brown starter- possibly one of the best starters I've ever had. The rib main and the trio dessert were very good too (got the sticky toffee pudding as part of the three and was really surprised by how good that was). This place deserves to be busy. Would not hesitate to recommend or return.
We had a lovely meal at Dylan’s in Criccieth to celebrate our engagement! Nicole was excellent and couldn’t have done more for us, the service was above and beyond and we’ll be back every year to celebrate our anniversary! The food was superb, I’d definitely recommend! Thanks again to Nicole for her lovely care and well wishes!
Popped in for a coffee after a drive to Criccieth, love this town. Dylans adds a real hotspot, its great to see somewhere uptodate yet tells of its story through the years.. has a great event space too. Good internal design, wine bar, restaurant, family and dog friendly, brilliant!
Our family dined here 3 times during our trip. The restaurant is unbelievable. We have tried most of the dishes on the menu and all of them were a big hit. The ingredients are super fresh and the dishes are extremely tasty and creative. I have been to several well known Italian restaurants in London but none of them come close to Dylan's beef lasagne. All of the staff provided excellent service and were super attentive and caring. Can't wait to visit this place again sometime in the future!
Visited on a Saturday night and found a last minute slot for 8.30pm so booked just beforehand. was mayhem busy when we arrived at 8pm but got a seat at the bar and waited for our table. Despite the crazy busy all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our order was taken quickly, and we had a prawn cocktail pizza and feather blade steak. Pizza was definitely different, crust was very tasty, although the middle base was quite soggy. Good tangy overall flavour. Steak was fine, although partner has had way better elsewhere. Chips were a bit overdone and dark brown for our liking. Sticky toffee pudding was very tasty, the ale and salted caramel sauce was a fab pairing, so highly recommend that! 4/5.
The food was nice, I had the Chicken in a basket and side of Salt & Chilli Calamari. Was hoping for Lobster but not on the menu. The sea view is great. Parking is for Disabled only.
We were pleasantly surprised by the portion size of the artisan bread starter. The bread was just the right amount fluffy and covered in lots of good quality butter. But you may not have any room for dessert left, proceed with caution! Pastas were nice but nothing special. They also have a great selection of cocktails. The restaurant is located in a lovely area, just by the sea. And I really liked the interior.
Decided to stop for lunch here after walking the dog, as the weather was so nice. Wonderful Art Deco building with great views. We sat outside with our dog, who got offered water and biscuits. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty. Service was good until I tried to pay - no one seemed very interested in taking my payment. I wouldn’t have been bothered about the wait if even one of the SIX members of staff who were in and around the bar area had acknowledged my existence or said, “be with you in a minute”. I felt as if I was invisible, which would have been excusable if the place was busy- it really wasn’t - especially in the bar where there was only one person being served the whole time I waited. That apart, I would recommend this place for food and great views and for being dog friendly (at least outside).
Popped in for lunch. Parking is disabled only onsite, but you’ve got the prom parking out front and also a car park, both are paid. The food is nice. There wasn’t much of a wait. Staff were nice, we were seated without prior booking, but it’s pre season right now. I liked the atmosphere of the place and the fact that it is dog friendly. The only gripe was that it was a little expensive for a lunch, but that is personal preference I guess.
For me the main draw of this place has to be the amazing Art Deco styled building and it's location on the beach. We came a couple of times just to sit on the decking overlooking the beach and Cardigan Bay...you can purchase drinks from the nearby airstream trailer. We ate once in the restaurant and the food was OK but probably not worth the prices charged...the peppercorn sauce that came with my beef had little taste and was SO watery! I do have one huge criticism...who on earth 'laid' the long paved path to the front doors!? The paving is loose, crooked, uneven (a possible trip hazard) and gives a really bad first impression of the place! This place gets really busy so you must book a table if you intend to eat.
We have been to Dylan’s Menai Bridge 3 years ago and had an amazing meal. So we decided on coming back to Wales to try Dylan’s Criccieth, hoping for the same experience. Unfortunately, it wasn’t of the same standard. The atmosphere was good, the service could have been better. It was at times a little slow and the staff weren’t as attentive as they should have been. I loved the art deco surroundings and the spaciousness of the place. The lawn games outside was a nice touch which the kids loved. Now for the important bit the food……the mussels were awesome, really fresh and tasty with a sizeable porter. The calamari was overcooked and dry, as was the chicken in a basket. The scallops were juicy and fresh the lamb hash brown starter was underwhelming, a little dry and tasteless. The blade of Welsh beef was also overcooked and a little bland, although the mushroom sauce that accompanied it was really tasty. The fries and chunky chips were nicely cooked. The burger was just average and we paid £7.50 extra for to have a slice of Halloumi added to it. The churros were amazing, the kids loved them and the sticky toffee pudding was tasty. All in all an average meal, especially considering the price being £320 for 2 adults and 4 kids although the kids all had adult meals.
A lovely restaurant and fantastic service but sadly let down by the food and prices. We only had the pizzas and found them to be underwhelming for the money. The pizzas were undercooked in the middle and very oily which put us off ordering anything else on our evening. The service we must add was fantastic, very welcoming, friendly and attentive. We felt the atmosphere was a little lacking and could have done with some ambient music or if it was on then turning up a little.
Disgusting & Dangerous – A Serious Warning At first glance, Dylan’s in Criccieth has a certain charm with its art deco exterior and listed building status. But like putting on a pair of glasses, the closer you get, the worse it looks. Only the “D” and “S” were lit on the sign, outdoor tables and chairs looked unusable, and rust and peeling paint made it feel more like a dilapidated Pontins than a restaurant. Inside, things didn't improve. You're met with a large bar, worn floors, tired furniture, and a soulless, sterile atmosphere. Our table and chairs were sticky and clearly hadn't been properly cleaned—stains and marks everywhere, and the floor was no better. I’ve experienced better hygiene at motorway services. Starters: We ordered sea bream and "hot honey" chicken tacos. The chicken tacos looked like a 99p fast food burger—dry, bland, and dumped on shredded lettuce. Absolutely nothing “hot” or “honey” about them. The sea bream tacos were slightly better in appearance but badly overcooked and chewy. Mains: After waiting what seemed like 30–40 minutes, the burger was fine—hard to mess up—but the chips were a disaster. Over-fried, oily, dark brown, and hard. It felt like they were cooked in old oil and had been refried several times - they were dark brown. The portion served with the ribs was 75% chips, most of which were left untouched. Then it got worse. That night, I suffered severe heartburn—something I’ve not experienced in years. My partner, who ate the ribs and tacos, began vomiting violently in the early hours of the morning and continued for hours. She displayed classic signs of food poisoning: vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, fever, and total exhaustion. She was bedridden the entire next day. We are now following official food safety guidelines and reporting this incident to the relevant authorities. I’ve been to Dylan’s in Menai Bridge twice before and left disappointed both times. I made the mistake of giving the Criccieth branch a chance. Never again. As for the positive reviews? The only explanations I can come up with are: (a) generous alcohol consumption dulling the taste buds and the senses, (b) generous alcohol consumption killing off any potential harmful bacteria. We don’t drink—so unfortunately, we got the authentic experience. If £4.95 for a Coke doesn’t put you off, maybe the potential of food poisoning will!
