The best meal we have ever had! I never usually leave reviews but after the dinner we had yesterday it would feel wrong not to. Every plate we had was a 10/10 both dinner and dessert. Our server Bethan was wonderful, the ambiance of the restaurant was lovely and it was overall the best place we could’ve chosen for my birthday dinner. My only issue is that we don’t live closer! Would come back here anytime, and couldn’t recommend to anyone enough! Thanks so much again.

Absolutely wonderful, the food was amazing, we chose the smaller dishes and ordered about 5 plus sides it's a really good option as you can try lots of different dishes ,for half the price would definitely recommend this place to eat, my only gripe was when making the reservation you have to chose the occasion why as nothing is mentioned ? ( confused ) but none the less we had a lovely visit and would definitely go again when there next

First impressions are of a fresh, modern take on a restaurant. Staff are all so friendly and helpful, as it's not the largest restaurant you're probably going to see 2 or 3 staff at most . The food is utterly brilliant, we started with the Mediterranean sharing platter, Tzatziki was the freshest I've had without getting on a plane. We opted for 6 small plates although it's worth noting lots are available as larger main meals. All chosen plates we're divine, the crab cakes and beef worth special praise. Desserts of Chocolate fondant and the baked pineapple soaked in dark rum went down a treat! There are a few Wild horse brewery items on draft and a full complement of spirits and of course a great choice of wines. This stands out as quite unique in the area, and although not a "cheap eat" I found it to be really good value and well suited to a special meal out. Look forward to going back, biggest dilemma will be which plate to drop in favour of trying something new 😀

Lovely place for some top quality dining. Service was impeccable and welcoming, they made us laugh a lot! Sharing mussels and seafood platter was a spectacular way to start the meal, loved the presentation. Mains and sides were also great. Amazed this place is not more popular. Highly recommend!

Excellent food , the staff were very friendly and explained the menu ! The room was set out really nice , and I will definitely be going again

We opted mainly for the small plates to share apart from one person who had the duck as a "main". The dish as a main was literally just double the smaller version, so wasn't actually that suitable as a main dish. However, the smaller sharing plates were generally amazing and fun to share. Personally I enjoyed the salmon, monkfish, pork and lamb the most. We shared every dish between three, and they stretched that far but the small plates would share best between two. Three of us had three dishes each as recommended by the menu. By the time we got to the last ones they were cold, so I'd be wary of this next time. The service was excellent and with good humour, and the location is convenient although with free parking outside you're lucky to get a space at busy times. One of our part needed gluten free and the restaurant catered very carefully for this. Overall we had an excellent experience and would definitely recommend.

Wow, such an amazing Seafood Platter, was massive and so delicious. The staff were so lovely especially the lady manager who managed to squeeze us in for the next day. Anyone who loves seafood should visit this wonderful restaurant. Thank you all at Next Door and will definitely be recommending and coming back.

We had a table for 2, and ordered 8 small plates. Every single one was absolutely delicious! Such amazing fresh flavours. We can't wait to go back. I feel like this is a hidden gem in Llandudno!!

Booked a table for 10 celebrating a friends birthday lastnight. Food was amazing! 2 smalls plates (steak and prawns) with a bowl of olives was the perfect size portion for me. Excellent service, will definitely be back :)

Honestly, unreal. Highlights were lamb, scallops, duck and crispy pork. But it was all incredible. The pistachio ice cream was to die for also!!!

We had a wonderful experience at The Next Door. The food was excellent, with a menu focused on smaller plates that are actually very generous and filling, which made the whole experience even better. Everything we tried was full of flavor and well presented. The atmosphere is very pleasant and cozy, perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Great quality food, friendly vibe, and definitely a place we would happily return to and recommend.

Booked a table for 2 this evening. Fantastic food, (hog roast sharing platter pictured), and nice options to have food as mains or as small plates, relaxed vibe and friendly service. Will definitely come back and would recommend!

Thank you very much to the "next door" team for delicious food and great service. We ate here on Wednesday night and again tonight (Friday). On both evenings the food was really amazing and we find very good value for money. Great cocktails too!. Thank you for two tasty evenings.

We’ve been doing a tour of some of the top rated restaurants of North Wales and this has, by a long way, been the best so far. We had some mixed breads and the pork crackling to nibble on whilst we looked through the rest of the menu and plucked for 8 small dishes between the four of us. We were not disappointed. Every dish was spectacular, particular praise to the black bomber and leeks croquettes and the pork cheek. Staff were all amazing. Friendly, well versed in the menu and let us have our meal at our pace. We will be back again and again.

Without much prior research, booked a night here while traveling through town. It was honestly one of the best dining values I’ve had in a long time - my wife and I enjoyed 6 interesting, well prepared, well portioned courses, a desert trio and a bottle of good wine for under £100. The service was great, the ambiance was intimate but not too quiet or stiff. It was a very memorable dining experience and would happily recommend Next Door to anyone looking for a great date night meal

Really enjoyed our dinner here. It was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was buzzing which is a great sign. We shared a variety of small plates - very tasty dishes, beautifully cooked and presented.. When we wanted more, we just asked and it was on the table in an instant! Really interesting varied wine list too. Would definitely recommend. Looking forward to our next visit already.

We had a fabulous night here. The food was stunning, the cocktails were delicious, the wine was amazing and the service was incredible. Raz the waiter, Elias the barman, Rob the Chef and Carly in the kitchen went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely evening. We are regular visitors to Llandudno and will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff. We will be spreading the word!

A fantastic evening! The menu was well presented and easy to navigate. We were given excellent advice on the selection of small plates, with all the team having great product knowledge. The small plates just kept flowing and were absolutely delicious. The scallops were superb and all dishes were beautifully presented. Great place, good location and beautiful decor..... will definitely be back for more.

Had the pleasure of visiting on my birthday with friends. From the telephone booking through to arrival, welcome and service from Raz we could not have wished for more. Now to the food, it was truly excellent, the concept of the small plates proved to be one of the best eating out experiences ever; a fantastic choice, flavoursome and so very enjoyable. Well done Chef. The wine selection was excellent as were the wines we chose. We will be back, thank you for everything. A great venue too, we loved the decor!!

Cosy but elegant, excellent service, exquisite food, great value. I'm not sure what more you could ask for, and all of these ingredients combined made for a terrific dining experience for our group. A special mention for the vegan options. We had some vegans in our group and they were very well catered for.

Outstanding. We went for the "Mini Hog Roast" sharing platter. Tasty and plentiful. High quality ingredients treated very well indeed. A most enjoyable meal enhanced by the most charming front of house staff and a chance to chat with the chef. We want to go back to try the Small Plates. HIGHLY recommended. We went back and hit the Small Plates. Astonishingly tasty and generous. Front of house as engaging as ever and Chef Rob said Hi too, even though this time they were very busy. If there's better food to be found in Llandudno, I'd like to know where.

We have passed this restaurant (attached to the Dunoon Hotel) on many occasions and decided to pop in for a nosy & a drink, well!!!! After ending up having a Sunday lunch and sharing a bottle of sancerre, we we're suitably full and full of praise. Modern looking inside, the food is top class and cooked perfectly, choices of wine was nice and service is second to non. This bistro style restaurant is not cheap but very good value for what you are tasting. We will be going back, great to have somewhere like this in our locality.

What a refreshingly different and wonderful place, it’s inviting as soon as you walk in, the team are so attentive, the food is so very tasty, you can taste the ingredients in every mouthful, so fresh! We were a table of 4, had the breads (amazing), the Winter shareboard, then had 2 small plates of lamb and beef, and then 1 large of monkfish which then comes with 2 sides, which I can say the Black bomber Cauli cheese was delicious- we were actually full from this, so we will be heading back soon to try the rest! Our host was fabulous, and in honour I feel there needs to be a good Romanian Pinot Noir on the wine list 😀 See you soon!!

We spent the day in Wales. On the search for authentic food. We found this gem. It is small but that allowed focused service. The food was magnificent. The head waiter and his new trainee were awesome. ❤️

The food looked, smelled and tasted incredible! All of our needs were met (gluten free and vegan). Our experience at The Next Door Restaurant was one of the best we have had, with all of the staff being so friendly and welcoming! We would highly recommend coming here for an evening out.

You can really tell the passion of the chef from the execution and presentation of his cuisine. Everything was cooked perfectly and this is probably the best restaurant in Llandudno. Not at all a dealbreaker but if the service can offer a bit more attention to detail, this restaurant will be flawless.

We were a party of three. Menu suggested between 6-8 small plates shared between 2 people. We ordered 4 small Fish plates, 5 small Meat small plates, tempura broccoli, black bomber croquettes, homemade bread and olives. We were served the fish dishes and other sides first (expecting the meat plates to follow) these were generally really good, the prawns were a bit over cooked. Expecting the meat dishes to arrive, our waiter then asked us if we'd like dessert. So they'd forgotten half our food order. We decided to not wait for the missing dishes and went straight for dessert. Two of us has the whisky crème brulee, which didn't taste of whisky at all and came with a dry chewy shortbread. I ordered the brownie and the waiter bought me a cheesecake, which they promptly swapped for the brownie, which was dry and inedible. We had a negroni each, which were fantastic as were the two bottles of red wine we had with our food. We finished off with an Armanac each. Overall we all quite enjoyed it and would go back again. The service definitely needs to improve and some additional attention to detail is needed with some of the food dishes. This could easily be a five star dining experience with a few tweaks.

My wife and I had a super meal here this evening. We opted for the small plate dishes & we weren't disappointed. We would particularly recommend the belly pork & the scallops. Absolutely superb! We also had the short rib of beef (soft tender meat with a sweet sauce), the crayfish in a bun (very tasty) & fries (a little too greasy for us). The bread & olive oil with balsamic was served poorly, but was nevertheless very tasty. The service was excellent. Attentive without being overwhelming, polite & smiles all round. An excellent bottle of red wine (I wish I could remember the name) topped it all off. Sadly the place lacks that certain atmosphere that contributes to a full 5 star review, but I'm sure that on other nights it could well have it. Just not tonight ☹️.

Great place to eat something different from normal British food. The duck and the prawn was amazing and so were the garlic and rosemary potatoes and peas and corn on the cob. Will love to go back again

Unfortunately we didn’t have the best dining experience at this restaurant and I’ll try and give fair reasons why. The menu read like a fine dining restaurant, but the attention to detail didn’t seem to be there. We were greeted by a polite waitress who seated us. It then seemed a while until we were offered drinks. We finally ordered drinks but we had been sat for 35 minutes until we received our first drinks. We then ordered our food. Upon asking the waitress about how best to order the food and whether we could order small plates as starters and large plates as mains, she was unsure and had to ask another member of staff. From how the menu was written this seemed like a pretty ordinary way to order but we wanted to make sure. We ordered a small plate each and a large plate each. The menu stated that large plates came with 2 sides but this wasn’t offered any additional sides. We ordered one side each but I got the feeling that the waitress was unaware that large plates were supposed to come with 2 sides, as we heard another waiter offer this to a nearby table. We both ordered scallops as a starter and asked if one could have lardons removed to make it pescatarian, to which the waitress said this was fine. She even read our order back to make sure she had it right. We waited another 25 minutes until we received our starters, making it an hour before we had any food in front of us. When the scallops arrived both dishes had lardons removed. When I made the waiter aware he seemed a bit flustered and was going to go back to the kitchen (without the dish) to see what went wrong. At this point we just wanted to eat and didn’t want to wait ages for it to be rectified, so we just let it be and said it’s ok. The scallops were lacklustre. They didn’t have much of a sear on them and overall seemed undercooked (one on my partners plate was verging on inedible). The peas were clearly of the freezer aisle variety. We then received our mains after what seemed like another longish wait afterwards. The pig cheeks were ok if not a little dry. The first thing we noticed about the prawns was that they were scorching hot, too hot to eat straight away, which meant they were a bit over cooked. They tasted a bit earthy which makes me think they weren’t deveined and the garlic was quite over powering. The menu described them coming with toasted focaccia but we received what resembled more like cheap garlic bread. We also ordered leek croquettes. These were ok, but a little bit heavy on the mustard. One concern as a food worker myself is that the menu didn’t state that they contained mustard which is a main group allergen. I know the menu states at the top to make aware of allergens as the kitchen can’t guarantee no nuts but I feel such a mustard heavy course should probably make some mention. The drinks were ok, the negroni actually particularly nice which was a good saving factor (even though when I ordered, the waiter asked if I wanted a small or a large which I have never been asked before. I then witnessed the confusion between the other waitresses/bar staff when he put the order in). The general feel was that the restaurant was either understaffed or that some of the waiting staff weren’t really trained as well as they could have been, which I believe comes from the top down and is no fault of the waiting staff themselves. They were really polite but there just seemed to be a bit of an air of confusion and didn’t give a feel of a well oiled machine. We decided not to have any desserts as it was getting a little late. 3 stars for service wasn’t for anything the staff did wrong. As mentioned I believe it is due to the restaurant manager/owner or whoever is responsible for training not being thorough enough. The food seemed to lack care/passion/attention to detail. Overall it wasn’t the experience we expected when we found the restaurant online.

A
Alex Jones

I wouldn't normally review negatively on here, however, I feel it's relevant. The food at this restaurant was lovely and can't be faulted. Along with the decor, the cleanliness was brilliant. I wouldn't say service was bad, as the waiting on staff were fantastic and extremely helpful and polite, however the front of house staff could maybe improve their service. We entered the restaurant and were told to sit anywhere, on doing so we were told to move to a different table as the one we had chosen was set up for 5 guests, while we were a table of four. The front of house staff came to take our food order, before we had ordered drinks, this made us feel very rushed. We were told there was no child option available and our three year old was to be served an adults Sunday lunch. On ordering drinks we were advised there was no IPA, however I over heard the bar staff offering another table a bottle of IPA as an alternative, we weren't offered the same alternative. Each table was offered a jug of water on seating, however we weren't. Generally the service we received was a lot poorer than other guests; no asking how food was, no offering more drinks, no interaction of any kind from front of house staff. The same staff who were checking in on all the other diners and offering a great service to. The two young waiting on staff were brilliant, polite, friendly and helpful - real assests to this restaurant. We were made to feel as though we weren't welcome here. After booking here having heard amazing recommendations, decided to leave after one course, as we were so uncomfortable. When we requested the bill, we were given it with no conversation, offered no thanks, and on leaving were not even acknowledged. Having worked in hospitality, and run my own business for 15 years, I know how important customer satisfaction is. Making a customer feel welcome and at ease is the priority in any service based industry. We were a party of two adults and two well behaved, polite children (13 and 3), other families also had children with them, but were offered better service than us. Really disappointing father's day meal - will not be returning or recommending. As a business owner with employees myself, I always look to gain feedback from customers with regards to maintaining and improving high standards. And feel the front of house service here could definitely use some improving.

J
John Cahill

This is a beautiful and very comfortable restaurant. The food is nice and the service is very good. However, when we booked online I checked 'anniversary' to let the restaurant know we were celebrating an anniversary. It was in fact our 30th wedding anniversary to the day. No acknowledgement of this fact was made throughout the entire meal which made for a disappointing experience. Also, when it came to pay we were overcharged by £10 which was unnecessary as we were the only customers in the restaurant the entire time we were there.

A
Amanda Crane

Lack of atmosphere, oily and semi frozen food. Service was lack lustre, they seemed to be counting down the minutes until we left. What a shame.

J
Joanne Edge

Food when it arrived was very good however it was over an hour before the starters were delivered and another hour before the mains, we were charged for an item we did not order and one item that we cancelled due to the delay and although the staff apologised for the delays and removed the charge for wine we were still very disappointed, would we go again. No.

S
S M

Made a reservation, turned up with our dog who's paraplegic and in a wheel chair. Ableist, snooty girl turned us away because they "don't let dogs near food". Girl, it's my food he'd be near and I don't mind, and he's in a sealed off wheelchair for goodness sake, get a grip. Lost our custom and the people's who were about to enter.
