I ordered shrimp tacos with charro beans and rice. My husband had steak fajita tacos. We enjoyed our meal complete with chips and red and green salsa. The food came out quickly, the server was friendly and accommodating. The parking area looked a bit small. We would return for a meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Ordered coconut shrimp, with sweet potato fries and a strawberry side salad. Everything was perfectly prepared. Also had the white queso and really enjoyed thanks well. The green and red salsa were pretty good too.
First time eating here and it did not disappoint. It was early evening on a Tuesday so no wait. Happy Hour Margaritas were $4. Cherry C was our waitress, we asked her for her 2 favorite dishes and ordered those. The Jose's Platter & Ala Mexicana Dinner were both delicious choices. Cherry C was attentive, friendly and made our dining experience pleasurable.
We eat here at least once a week, most of the time we have the fajitas and margaritas. The margaritas are hit and miss, depends on who is making them. The best service we have ever had was Sherry. I apologize if the spelling is wrong but who ever was making the margaritas tonight was awesome too. Highly recommend. Ask for Sherry she will make sure you are taken care of.
Came last Saturday night. Busy but seated quickly. Our waitress, Jen, was perfect!! Kept glasses full and gave excellent recommendations as it was our first time. Food was delicious!!! Fajita beef was sooo tender! Good prices. Also, left my phone here and they located it and even took the time to make sure I knew the code. Honesty is a big plus!
I’m a local and eat here almost daily. The green sauce with the chips and salsa is something you won’t soon forget. If they bottled this stuff they’d be millionaires!! Food is reasonably priced and delicious. You won’t find better mixed drinks and margaritas! If you’re a big party coming in during their busy times, things may not be like a big restaurant in a big city. This is a small town staffed by local people trying to do their best with a HUGE weekend and holiday crowd. Have patience and enjoy yourself.
First time at this establishment. Low-key atmosphere. Friendly and very pleasant staff. We were served by Amber, she has a great personality and, in my opinion, a super host. Chips and salsa were the first to come. Salsa was fresh and a hint on the spicy side, which I personally prefer. We ordered chicken tortilla soup that was cooked to perfection. Coconut shrimp were crispy on the outside and tender and soft n jucy on the inside, served with house sauce that is well paired with fried onion rings. Grilled snapper was jucy and tender, with shrimp, onions, jalapeños and green olive pimento. Overall, it was a great experience and top-notch food.
To-go Orders: Night 1- fresh juicy combo fajitas, rice and beans are flavorful, queso and salsa tasted freshly made. Night 2- chicken fried steak, baked potato and side salad. This meal was so delicious, fresh, flavorful. Prices are amazing and less than anywhere else. I'd eat here every day!
My father passed away so I needed some beach time. I rented cabin on the beach and the gentleman who dropped off the golf cart suggested Jose's Cantina for lunch. Walking in, I realized I had been here before. The restaurant is simple and good fare. The bar is central and decorated nicely. Seating is booths and a tables. My server was very friendly and had good follow up, very attentive. Chips and 2 salsas were delivered quickly. The green had some kick, wasn't wild about the red, chips were good. I ordered the speciality drink, I normally don't spend $14 on a drink but it sounded tasty. It came served with a marshmallow rim and toasted coconut. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered a cup of gumbo to start. It had a very rich roux sauce and a great flavor. I also ordered the Gramps plate which was served with two tamales and two enchiladas, rice and charros beans. They were topped with meat sauce, really tasty. Great experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our server Cheyenne was awesome and food was perfect!!! We will definitely be back again! Thanks so much!

I had the burrito nothing fancy. It was awesome best burrito I have had in yeas. The service was excellent, beer was ice cold! I would recommend this place to anyone
We all had something different with no complaints. Live music, large group seating , reasonable prices. Would recommend!

Stopped for a late breakfast and the pancakes were excellent as was the bottomless coffee, but no cappuccino. Meat burrito was pretty good but needed the salsa on the side.
Cowboy Fajitas were great. Paid extra for poblanos and bacon and it was worth it. The portion was large, we shared fajitas for 1 and had some leftovers. Salsa Roja is decent not very spicy but quite flavorful. salsa verde is avocado creme-style and I’d honestly rate it a 10/10.

Second time to eat here.Boiled shrimp is great & fresh. Sour cream enchiladas was really good. Tortilla soup was ok but not the best. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Our service was good …
Good Mexican food for the peninsula. Mix of Mexican and seafood. Nice bar area. price is reasonable. Service is ok. Could be a little more attentive.
Beware. They charge the same price for a virgin pina colada as one with booze in it. If that's the case, bring me the shot of rum and I will drink it. Ridiculous.

It sucked. It had a good coconut margarita and that’s where it ended. Service was exceedingly slow, food was bland and tasteless. Very disappointed.
The tamales were very dry and substituting cheese sauce for the chili was an upcharge. Really? My order came out beef when I ordered chicken. When I finally got the right order it looked fantastic! I was quickly disappointed. Great big chunks of chicken with absolutely no flavor at all! Maybe we came on a bad day? Maybe seasoning is eliminated because it's in a tourist area? Maybe there's too many cuisines served too justly prepare them all? Definitely over priced in my opinion. Server was very friendly and did a good job. Serving sizes were better than you see in a lot of places too bad the food lacked any flavor.
Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon around 6. Our group of 6 was ushered to the back party area. There were large tables, a bar, and stage. The menus were sat on the table in a stack and the hostess walked off... finally waitress comes over to get drink orders... you could tell she was busy. Other wait staff and hostess not doing much just standing around. Got up to Ask hostess for a kids menu, she said I'd have to ask server. Ok... waited, and waited... they didn't have any printed she recited what they offer. So we order the kids first, waitstaff brings it out, it has chili in staff of queso. So we mention, that is supposed to have no gravy, she proceeds to say, you'll have to let your waitress know and throw the plate on the table! So we wait and wait to let our waitress know it was incorrect and she went to fix it. Adults order, same wait staff brings food out, again throws the plates on the table and can't be bothered to bring hot sauce or the side to one dish... has to wait wait wait for the waitress...ordered mixed drinks... never got them... Our waitress was great, busy and that made it wait extremely long with little to drink, chips ran out, and some ppls food got cold while we waited for condiments. The hostess and waitstaff need training! Food was mediocre at best, but there aren't about of options on a Sunday in bolivar!

Slightly above average food and atmosphere. It does look like they make their own tortillas. Our services was great, quick to the table (which was suprising looking at the parking lot).
Service was amazing but the food was not at all what we expected. My fajitas had zero flavor, it was literally grilled chicken with onions and peppers and my husband ordered chalupas but they looked like mini tostadas (see picture). The food was hot and fresh, it just wasn’t at all the “Mexican” food we are used to.
We’ll start with the good, good atmosphere , great service, restrooms spotless, convenient to the beach. The Bad, two out of the 3 meals were terrible. Chip and salsa were best item of the evening. Fajita chicken tacos definitely never saw a grill, they were chewy and flavorless (I swear they were boiled) fried pork chop literally had puddled oil on top. Flautas were actually ok…until later, my body rejected them in not so pleasant ways!
The food was average. It was not what I expected based on the reviews herein. Although, the fajitas were actually the best on the menu. Good grilled-like flavoring! The flour tortillas are not fresh and not "homemade." Big negative. Salsa was spicy, but there was a missing ingredient but not sure what exactly it was. Maybe cilantro. Food portions are large and pricey. Service was average.
We called Jose's Cantina yesterday evening and asked if they had oysters on the half shell? The girl said yes we do (after she went and checked) at $12.99 per dozen. 15 later we were there being serv…

Ordered the fried seafood and got hard shell in the stuffed crab when I eat it. They were like they didn't care. Worst service, food is subpar, when you ask to talk to a manager the server says you are not telling the truth. I would advise you avoid this place like the plague.
So I have to say that our waitress was wonderful and the staff was awesome. Here's the bad part... My wife and I both got food poisoning from here. I can say that for sure because it's the only thing we ate that day. We had "Willy's Cajun Sampler" I think it was called. Fries frog legs, shrimp, gator, and maybe fried oysters. The food tasted alright but we drove two miles down the road and we both got violently sick. I hope others have better luck. $138 bill and we didn't even get to digest it.
Service started out good, we ordered our food. Meal arrived, missing an order of fried shrimp, the breading on the shrimp and onion rings was awful. Ordered a sirloin steak, after eating a 1/4 of the steak, I notice a fly that appeared to have been in the marinade lying dead on my plate. Showed the waitress, she appeared to be shocked that such a thing happened. Was told it would be comped but we were charged for a meal, I wouldn't have finished. Waitress also had her boyfriend sitting next to us and she spent time with them, as she rubbed his shoulders. She didn't refill our drinks until we slurped nothing out of our drinks. Worst place we ate at all weekend. Don't recommend
No. Just no. Don't do it. It's NOT worthy of the 4ish stars you see here. We took a chance even after reading the most recent reviews, hopeful that our experience would be better. Our optimism was regrettable. Service was absolutely terrible - nearly non-existent - especially considering that the staff-to-customer ratio was 2-to-1 at least. They definitely need to figure out a service system because they don't have one. Now let's talk about food. Our table of 8 had a split experience with that. Half of us had good meals, while the other half had below expectation meals. The good choices were the fried ones (but not the crawfish unless you like them tough & chewy), the strawberry walnut salad, tamales, & enchiladas. The queso was good too. Now for the cost. I would say the prices are above average by comparison considering the quality not being worth it. Also, they charged a "large party 20%" gratuity on each ticket - a ticket mind you that was marked "guest count: 5" & still suggested an additional tip. See the picture of one of our recipes for clarity. So, if you want to be optimistic, I'd say good luck with that.
This was my “Large Bowl” of chicken tortilla soup. It is not that hard to cook good Mexican food…Do better Jose’s. I threw it in the trash. Worst “soup” I’ve ever seen. Did someone throw up in a blender and forget to pour the entire bowl in? The chicken fajitas could not be chewed, it had been warmed in a microwave wayyyy too long. The kids chicken quesadilla had all cheese and a spec of chicken. Entire meal was wasted. What is the deal with the horrible food down here? Is it all prepackaged and warmed up in a microwave? Do you own a grill? I cook, it’s not that hard to cook edible food. If you are able to swallow and get the food down, you will expel it quickly after. Read the other reviews. Horrible.
