Really good curry. It’s rich in taste but not too much butter added like many restaurants. My favorite is to add omurice with the curry. Be ready to wait for 20-30 minutes for a table though during rush hours. The place is small and they only have a few tables to dine in.

We were here on 11:15am Monday noon, we are the first 2 getting to the restaurant. It could be just lucky Monday that there is no long line before 11:30am. We ordered Pork Katsu Curry and Beef Hayashi Omu rice with corn potage soup. They are delicious. The egg lies on top of Beef Hayashi rice is so soft. Each dish has very small portion of Potato salad which is also tasty.

After long waiting we finally tried out this place. Since the opening this restaurant constantly has long lines, specifically over the weekends. We waited about 35 minutes as for a late lunch. Food is great, service is nice. Twisted egg omelet over the rice is a great plus.

Super friendly staff!!! Nice variety and delicious curry. Update for a to go order...AMAZING!!! Staff so nice and helpful. Placed my togo order, then relaxed with an ice cold Saporro. Food was perfect. Update ... still wonderful. See my new pics.

IT’S FINALLY OPEN. The service was friendly, not overbearing. The food was delicious. Highly recommend. The seating area is on the smaller side. Once more people start coming, there will definitely be a wait. We went around 5 pm on Friday and were seated immediately. Since they opened quite recently, not everything on the menu is available. We tried the pork katsu curry, the menchi curry, karaage, potato korokke, and yuzu lemonade. Everything was delicious. The fried foods were fried to perfection. Perfectly crispy and didn’t really leave me feeling greasy after. The karaage was probably the oiliest one, but it was so juicy. The pork katsu was also super juicy. The potato korokke had a lovely creaminess to it, and the menchi katsu was juicy and savory. Their curry is good. The yuzu lemonade had a nice balance between sweet and tart, and cut through the richness of the curry and fried foods. Even the little dollop of potato salad they give on the side with the curry was delicious. I love that they provide a variety of spices so you can adjust the heat level to your preference. I personally prefer this place over Demiya and Kizuna.

Nice hole in the wall curry spot for Japanese style curry. Chicken was great and curry flavors are nice. Small menu but they offer what they do well. While not spectacular it's worth a visit, pricing is fair I feel for what they serve.

I finally tried this place today and I loved it. I looked forward to it opening since they put up the sign months ago. My wife and I tried the pork katsu plate and the double meatballs plates. Everything tasted great. I think the kick of acidity in the curry made it very unique. Helped balance the richness of deep-fry and gravy. The staff were also very friendly by keeping a smile during the busiest lunch hour. Keep up the good work. I look forward to trying the other items on the menu soon.

Excellent comfort food. I recommend the chicken katsu signature curry. It’s pretty filling, also I didn’t think the meenchi katsu is necessary to get. Also, love the number of ground spices, there’s a lot of variety!

Hands down one of the best Japanese curry places in the Bay Area. The sauce is the star here as you get a unique robust flavor you cannot find at other places. Love all the different hot pepper shakers you get to use and enhance the flavor as well. It was really busy when we went, but the service was still great and food came out really quickly. No complaints here. Location is also great with lots of shops to visit in this strip mall. The whole family loved it and we’ll definitely be back soon!

One the best Japanese curry restaurants. Went there first time for the lunch. There was no waiting as I went on Monday lunchtime. We ordered Chicken Katsu curry and Pork Katsu curry. It was so yummy and feels complete meal. I would recommend to visit this place.

Good price and amazing food!! Was my third time visiting there. Got an om-rice and added chicken cutlet as add-ons. Love their curry katsu and corn potage soup as well! Expect a long wait, but it’s totally worth it!!

Delightful food! They clearly label vegetarian options and there's 4; vegetable curry, potato croquette curry, edamame, and potato salad. The potato salad comes in the side of the croquette curry as a note. The curry tastes delicious and the additional peppers are very fun. Would recommend for any vegetarian!

This place is incredible. Like In-N-Out, they take a few items and make them really well. The curry is rich and deliciously umami, a perfect execution of caramelized onions. The chicken is succulent and crispy, but not greasy. It’s also fun to try each of the little spice jars they have on the table. It’s a good thing I don’t live nearby or I would go there way too much.

Had a great meal at Curry Hyuga! We tried the chicken katsu curry and corn soup. The katsu was crispy and juicy, and the curry had a rich, savory flavor. The corn soup was creamy with a nice touch of herbs. What impressed me the most was the super quick service—it was the fastest I've ever had! Highly recommend for a speedy and satisfying meal.

Really great tasting Japanese Curry! It was neat to try a variety of shichimi! Highly recommend. There tends to always be a wait here but the staff are very efficient and orders come out super quick!

Very yummy! A great comfort meal with a flavorful curry and well executed pork katsu (nice crunch on the outside crust and not dry at all). The cabbage/rice/potato helped balance the stronger flavors as well. Staff was attentive regularly refilling waters and food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Atmosphere is cozy which makes it feel like a home cooked meal. Prices are reasonable as well. I’ll be back!

First time trying this place and it blew my mind. Absolutely delicious! And highly satisfied my hunger. The taste went beyond perfection, from the sauce they incorporated into the dish to the protein and rice, all tasted very authentic and fresh. Dish came in temperature hot which was a plus on cold weather. Everything about this shop was top notch. Service was excellent! Kept filling up our water cups when it ran out of water and the server who took my order ensured that I ordered correctly by coming back to the table and allowed me to clarify my order. This is what adequate service is! Ensuring I don’t ordered something I didn’t sign up for and to ensure she heard what I wanted, perfect. Super satisfied with this shop in general and would definitely come back for this whole experience again. Keep up the fabulous work!

We came Labor Day lunch, arrived 11:27, there’s already a line, and we were the last group to sit in the first wave. Curry was good flavor, pork was overcooked; beef om-rice was delicious, I also like the corn soup (similar to the one I had in Japan which was a bit more sweet, here they added some other flavor). Not a fan of the potato salad (the round scoop in the photo. Overall it’s a good curry place, we finished most of the food, rice was a bit too much and we didn’t eat the potato salad (maybe better to substitute with green salad)

I would definitely take people back to Curry Hyuga! It’s a little Japanese curry place in the plaza with many parking spots in front and behind. The wait is a bit long, but smaller groups are a little faster. We came at 2pm Sunday but still waited for 30+ minutes! Their menu is not super extensive but they have curry options for vegetarians as well. They also have extra spices on the side if you want to add it to your base dish! I got the signature curry, which was filling enough for lunch and dinner or a big lunch. It comes with a potato salad and veggies as well as the curry and katsu pork or chicken. The tables are a little small and the service is efficient!

R
Rosina Su

Their curry has a sweeter taste, and if you add chili powder separately, it brings a different flavor. The fried pork cutlet is incredibly delicious, with a crispy exterior and tender, juicy inside, not overly dry. The corn soup contains only a few corn kernels, and it's a bit pricey. On weekends, you can expect to wait in line for about half an hour.

A good option for katsu curry. The signature curry and the corn soup were very good. The Hayashi om rice was not to our taste. The service is outstanding! These guys work really hard. Overall a pleasant experience.

Second time at Curry Hyuga and it was just as delicious as the first time. Corn soup is full of flavor, creamy, and just the right amount of croutons. Potato salad is fresh and delicious. We LOVE the red pickled acoutremont. The curry is thick and flavorful. The veggies are yummy. The pork/veggie katsu was big portions, fresh and crunchy. We recommend getting there early as it does get busy quickly.

The portions here are huge! We each ordered one, but couldn’t finish. Pork Cutlet Curry: The cutlet was a bit thin, and it felt like a very traditional Japanese-style curry. It was tasty. Beef Omurice Curry: The curry had a slightly tangy flavor, maybe from bell peppers — quite unique.

I've been here numerous times, and it's always been a great experience. The food is delicious and oftentimes freshly fried, with massive portions (seriously, as an adult it's hard for me to finish). The service staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, it's a small venue but they definitely make the most of it. There's usually a bit of a wait but it's not too bad to wait out in the nearby plaza. The only complaint I have is that occasionally, the pork katsu can be a tad overly fatty with cuts of cartilage.

Love Curry Hyuga! We take friends/family here and it's always enjoyable. Recommend arriving earlier since it gets busy/long wait during peak hours. My favorite items are the Beef Hayashi + the corn potage add-on. The food never disappoints and is consistent. Service is amazing!

Great place for Japanese curry. This place definitely hit the spot and craving I had. There is a bit of a wait, so I advise on getting there early to put your name down on the guest list. The corn potage soup is a must if you like corn soups. I could have five of those soups. The chicken katsu curry is perfect. It has a nice crunchy crisp on the outside with a soft tender bite on the inside. Service is on point. Definitely will come back.

Excellent curry Katsu, flavourful appetizers, and large portion sizes. 45min-1hr wait time but fast service after we ordered. Average ambience - not much seating (hence the long waitlist) and hard, small wooden chairs. We ordered the signature pork Katsu curry, chicken kaarage, additional toppings potato korroke and pork and egg kakuni, and corn potage soup appetizer. I would definitely recommend the pork Katsu curry, potato korroke, and corn potage soup!!! The Japanese curry was done really well - it had a good amount of salt and vegetables although it could have been sweeter. The pork mostly had a good fat to lean meat ratio and it had a good bite. Some pieces were juicier than others. I liked how the dish came with a lot of curry 🍛, rice, and shredded lettuce with some sort of creamy cheesy sauce that was really good! I didn’t like the chicken karaage as it had too rich of a soy garlic / ginger taste to it for me.

This Japanese curry restaurant is an absolute gem! The chicken katsu curry is hands down one of the best I’ve had—crispy, perfectly cooked, and not greasy at all. The curry sauce was rich, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the tender chicken and fluffy rice. The service here is incredibly fast—our food was served within 10 minutes of ordering, which is perfect for anyone looking for a quick yet satisfying meal. I can’t recommend this place enough for curry lovers. 10/10, and I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Excellent experience at this curry place! They are highly popular and a line forms within 15 minutes of them opening usually. Their spice level was very spicy and had a good kick and they also have the spices at the table if you want to try them out yourself! Service was prompt and the portions are huge! It’s enough for 2 meals for me and I brought back the leftovers.

The absolute best curry shop around! Everything is so satisfying! The curry is super flavorful, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced. They have so many protein selection, we absolutely love their Menchi and Tonkatsu. Also, they have Om-Rice which is served with a beef gravy! The eggs are tender and light and the gravy is delightful. We have also tried their corn soup. It is sweet, full of corn flavor, and lovely!

There isn't a great place for Japanese katsu and curry close by so we're excited by this new opening. And apparently lots of people as well, the lines were pretty long and there were lots of take outs. First the good - the price is really pretty decent for the offering, with ~$15 for a good portion curry rice with deep fried meat. The katsu and karage are done quite well, the katsu on the a bit too well-done side with crunchy rather than crispy bread coat. Karage was not at Sumika level but it beats a lot of other local Japanese restaurants, quite juicy on the inside. The mediocre - the curry was a bit disappointing. It's a slow cooked onion-caramel mix and it certainly is sweet, but it lacks distinct flavor. The onion didn't give the curry any special taste. We were in a Kyoto street side curry place and their meat-flavored curry was so rich that it makes Hyuga's curry very pale in comparison. They need to add some other secret ingredients to make the flavor pop. I wouldn't want to wait 30-45 minutes in line to get this flavor.

K
Kuei-Da Liao

The appetizer teppanji, which was the teppanyaki chicken karaage, was really amazing, even more impressive than the katsu. The katsu, on the other hand, was a bit dry without the fat in it, and it was hard to chew because of the dryness. I wish they could’ve selected the pork loin with more fat at least on the edges. If you go during weekend lunch, FYI we waited around 20 minutes to be seated. There are a Daiso and a Japanese supermarket in the plaza, so waiting would not be too bad.

A Delightful Curry Experience Fast service for an efficient dining experience. One notable aspect was the generous portions they offer. The dishes were not only flavorful but also came in satisfying quantities, making it an ideal spot for those who appreciate hearty meals. The curry itself was a standout, boasting a delectable taste that left my taste buds craving more. What I particularly enjoyed was the option for easy add-ons -- this way I could do an add on for a dish and share with my friends (since the portions were so big). The katsu and karage were good -- crispy on the outside, and tender/flavorful inside. The rice complemented the curry perfectly. It's usually pretty popular, but when we visited around 5:45pm on a Wednesday there was no wait. For ppl on the go, the availability of take-out options adds an extra layer of convenience.

We came here on a Friday night and had about a 40-minute wait, which wasn’t too bad for the weekend. They use an iPad for the waitlist, so you can sign up and use the time to walk around the plaza—there are plenty of shops to browse! For food, we ordered the signature katsu curry with a side of assorted vegetables, the chicken karaage curry udon, and the corn potage soup. The katsu curry was definitely our favorite! The crispy katsu and rich, savory curry were a perfect combo. The udon had an extra spice flavor that wasn’t quite to our taste, but that’s just personal preference. The corn potage soup was a standout—super creamy with a natural sweetness from the corn, plus delicious corn kernels in every bite. Portions were generous! Overall, a great experience, and we’ll definitely be back!

I’ve been wanting to try this spot out ever since it opened up and finally got the chance to try it out. This spot is located in a plaza and has plenty of free parking. Chicken Katsu Curry (8/10): The Katsu Curry had two protein options which were the chicken or the pork. The worker said the chicken is juicier while the pork was more flavorful, so we opted for the chicken. This dish was made really well in the sense that the chicken was juicier and the curry had a good flavor. I only wish the curry was a bit sweeter. But overall, a well executed dish. Beef Hayashi Om-Rice (9/10): I really enjoyed this dish since the egg on top of the rice was very soft and juicy. It was made really well and had a good balance when mixed with the rice, gravy, and potatoe. We also opted to order the Corn Potato Soup since it was only an additional $3 more. The Corn Soup is a 9/10 but would’ve been a 10/10 if there was more corn on the soup! Soup was very creamy and you can really taste the corn flavor in it. Corn bits were also included in it but there wasn’t a lot of it. Service here was friendly and fast. After I ordered, I received my food within 5-10 minutes. This spot is a good casual spot to come for lunch and dinner.

The flavors of the curry are just right, but the rice is undercooked and the egg is overcooked. Parking was easy to find, and the wait in the line wasn't too long, although it wasn't obvious that you had to check into the tablet at the front in order to receive a spot in line, as it's kind of hidden.

4/27/2025 Curry Hyuga 19650 Stevens Creek Blvd Cupertino, CA 95014 I love Tonkatsu Curry so tried here around noon on a Sunday. It's in the same plaza as Daiso and Tokyo Central. I had to orbit a little to find parking. The place was full and I had to get on the wait list, even as a single. After about 15 minutes I got a table. The place is long and narrow with minimalist contemporary furniture. The menu of course is mostly curry and deep fried dishes. I ordered the Pork Tonkatsu Curry plate which was brought to me shortly. The cutlet was even in thickness with a dark brown crispy breading and moist and tender. The curry was on the same plate with good flavor. The food was very good and plentiful. The service was good. Also a good value and would repeat but not on a weekend due to the parking issues but a weekday should be fine.

service was very quick, which I appreciated. The curry itself was decent, but the rice was a bit mushy. I really hope they can improve on that since good rice makes such a big difference with curry rice. Surprisingly, the corn soup ended up being the highlight for me — creamy, sweet, and really comforting.

This is my first time eating here, but I've had their takeout from their peninsula location for years. The food is very good and highly recommended. I got the Signature Pork Katsu Curry, Teppanji, Corn Potage Soup, and Kirin Beer. Everything was so good! It gets busy so reserve online if you can.

The teppanji was tasty! The curry was too sweet for my liking, so I liked the red pequin spice to balance out the flavor and the kaarage was good. The kaarage curry doesn’t have a lot of meat though, so I’d recommend the signature if you’re looking for best value.

The curry itself tastes good, but the pork is a little bit too dry and not tender and crispy enough. This is an ok option for Japanese curry with reasoable quality and price, but it's not impressive and probably doesn't worth the long waiting.

G
Grace Lee

Signed up for a walk-in waitlist. We waited for 50 mins for dinner on a regular weekday. Karaage curry w/ dome egg - chicken was perfectly tender, curry tasted like a Japanese style slightly sour and salty. Too much rice compared to the sauce, but the rice itself was delicious. The side dishes were average. Classic teishoku rice plate with pork tonkatsu - be aware that it came with a savory teriyaki sauce instead of curry, along with miso soup and rice, but the addition of spaghetti as a side dish was puzzling. The food didn’t impress us much. And it seemed pre-prepared as the pork cutlet was served lukewarm and tough. Considering the long wait and mediocre food quality, it wasn’t worth it and I wouldn’t revisit. The restaurant didn’t have many seats, and the tables were close together, wouldn’t be very relaxing to dine there.

I tried the Beef Hayashi, but it was quite sour for my taste. If you enjoy tangy flavors, you might like it more than I did. The Signature Curry was also not very appealing to me — the flavor was too strong and overpowering. The only thing I really liked was the corn soup. It was comforting and had a nice balance. Also, the restaurant environment was quite noisy, which made it a bit hard to enjoy the meal.

3.5/5 Got the signature pork with assorted veggies. The curry is not bad, but those assorted veggies were actually super good. Most of the stars here are awarded for those veggies. Service was great as well. Everyone was welcoming and made sure my meal was going well. The price is scary though. I might come with friends every so often, but cannot imagine dropping $27 for a plate of curry frequently.

Service was great as well. Everyone was welcoming and made sure my meal was going well. The price is scary though. I might come with friends every so often, but cannot imagine dropping $27 for a plate of curry frequently.

Showed up with a group of 4 at 1:30pm on a Saturday. There was a 20 minute wait, which was just enough time to enjoy a tea from a nearby shop. Service was prompt and the prorations were quite generous. The curry itself is flavorsome, not overpowering, though quite rich. I recommend the karaage, which was tender and well-seasoned. The tonkatsu was quite dry. This location has bottled beer, but no sake. Overall, a pleasant experience at a reasonable price. I probably won’t go back, though. The curry was good, but not exceptional, and they don’t have much else.

Ordered katsu and karaage curry. The deep fried items tasted good, but the curry was gross. Did not taste like Japanese curry at all? Tasted more like Malaysian + Japanese + Indian spices all mixed together? The curry was very salty and SOUR! It was the weirdest tasting curry I have had both inside and outside Japan. Good things: - service was great - clean - rather affordable at <$20 for a dish

I was so excited when this restaurant is open , but was disappointed after trying it. 1.curry is sour ….? Me and my friend were both so shock why Japanese curry is sour .Maybe because Tonkatsu sauce but not sure ! 2. Tonkatsu ( pork cutlet) is outside crispy good but inside is very dry …. 3. Side dish - Japanese potato salad is very watery, feels like they used powder to make it … 4. Table is tiny . We are two people setting in a small table but next to us one guy got 4 people table …

I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry a few months ago, loved it, I prefer fatty cuts and it was exactly that. Came back tonight and ordered the Tonkatsu Curry and Chicken Curry, both were ridiculously salty. The meat is saltier than the curry sauce. The rice and plain cabbage couldn't balance it out. We gave up after the first bite and ended up making ourselves some instant ramen. Suggest dinning in so you could ask for substitutes or refund. We wouldn't go again.
