Top 5 tacos in DFW. Definitely the most diverse menu, usually there are 10-20 tacos to choose from, all in the very good to excellent range. The pork belly is great, but my favorite is the shrimp taco. The batter is is so light and crispy. Great indoor space and bar. Great patio as well with umbrellas.
This is a great a spot for tacos. And I hate to call them gourmet tacos because they sound fancy when instead they are perfect in their simplicity. I came here years ago when they opened and both then and now, the food is outstanding. This time I came for breakfast and had a steak and egg taco. And then what was called the breakfast taco. Both were uniquely delicious. And I almost ordered another one of each.
My server, Natalia, was nothing short of exquisite. Warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable, she made us feel welcomed from the moment we stepped in. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and every recommendation felt intentional and confident. The food was outstanding. I tried four different tacos — the braised lamb, the duck, the scallop, and the carne asada — and each one had its own personality. The lamb was tender and deeply flavorful, the duck had a surprising kick (pretty sure I bit into a spicy little seed), the scallop was delicate and perfectly cooked, and the carne asada was rich, juicy, and seasoned beautifully. I also ordered the elote, which was phenomenal — creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The Mexican fried rice and garlicky pinto beans were equally amazing, the kind of sides that don’t play backup but stand out on their own. The atmosphere was relaxed and homey, the kind of place where you instantly settle in. We arrived during happy hour, so I ordered a classic margarita with a tajín rim. It was a bit on the stronger side — not a bad thing, just more than I needed — so I didn’t finish it, but the flavor was spot on. All in all, a true ten‑out‑of‑ten experience. Between the service, the food, and the vibe, it’s the kind of spot you leave already planning your next visit.
A long time family favorite! We travel across the metroplex to eat here which is no small feat! The tacos are just THAT GOOD! The small restaurant has extended to also include a bar which doubles the seating size. Much needed and looks great.
Resident Taqueria is one of my go-to taco spots in Dallas—everything is consistently incredible. The tacos are packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and hard to stop ordering. Service is always friendly, fast, and on point, even when it’s busy. Don’t skip the shishito fundido—it’s an absolute must-try and easily one of the best things on the menu.
Delicious! Me and my parents both tried the restaurant on separate occasions and loved it! The escargot was my favorite but also really liked the Puking duck, Mexican elote was really good too. I felt like 2 tacos per person is just right, maybe 3-4 if you’re really hungry. Look forward to coming back soon
I apologize for being so late on trying this place. Wow my first time and. just amazing from taco to taco. 10/10 service, vibes and good. Run, walk, jog, uber, whatever you need to do to get here. Scallops were my favorite but everything was so good. Tacos ordered • scallops • braised pork shoulder • squash blossom • escargot • chorizo • shrimp tempura • Peking duck
This tiny spot packs a ton of punch when it comes to flavor. Hands down my favorite vegetarian tacos in town. The guac is great, everything comes out fresh and hot. You order at the counter and service is quick. They are strong supporters of local community groups and treat their employees well. All around awesome spot.
(2024) continues to be amazing. Can’t get enough of these tacos. And still my favorite margarita in town. Always check out the seasonal offerings! (Like the scallop taco!) (2023) Love this place! Such a fun vibe and the tacos are phenomenal. Fresh made flour tortillas (love that they’re not too thick either). Every taco I’ve tried has been delicious. They also offer really yummy margaritas. The veg focused tacos are also fantastic, which could be boring and basic but they are def not that; they are vibrant and flavorful. The bodega style BEC sandwich is also really good (makes me miss nyc)
Quite a relaxed first visit to Resident Taqueria in Lake Highlands. The upscale tacos were diverse in flavor and there is no shortage of vegetarian or pescatarian options. The escargot was sublime…melted in the mouth with a zesty citrus bite. The duck was equally delicious and my favorite so far. The mushroom fundido was a perfect starter with the hand made tortillas! Definitely returning soon!
This is a good taco spot. You won’t find authentic tacos here though! These tacos are creative. The restaurant is having fun making whatever kind of taco they want. The price per taco is also higher than at an authentic taco spot. I liked all 3 tacos I had. First time going but I’d return! Cool interior vibes, too. Found this spot on D Magazine’s 2023 List of 50 Best Restaurants. It was number 14! I personally didn’t think the tacos were good enough to be ranked that high on D Magazine’s list. Still try it though! The tacos are great here.
We're visiting the area from the real "D" 👍🏾. We ordered six tacos and two salads 5 were the "bomb" the tempura was a little greasy the salads were flavorful and portioned our food came out and our server was prompt. Kudos for the ice cream macarons 🔥🔥
Ordered the pecking duck and scallop tacos. Pretty good, however they are a bit on the saltier side. Way too salty for me but the tacos were overall very tasty. I think both tacos were cooked perfect and was textbook technique. Crispy pecking duck and perfect sear on the scallop. However, my intentions were to come here to try the BEC sandwich but was told they’re out of bread. A bit off putting since they ran out of bread but it was only 1300.
We ordered the signature margarita with black cilantro and jalapeno and Entropic beer two pork belly burnt ends taco and braised pork shoulder taco. The signature margarita to was just a regular margarita nothing special the beer was good. The tacos had good flavor fresh ingredients but really greasy from the flavoring oil they used. There was a server that seemed unhappy to be there and was a yeller. Glad we are on the patio. 😅 Patio is a nice hangout place gets busy so hey there early 😁
Tacos are between $4-$5 now. They are the small street tacos. The flavors were good but could be more pronounced with their own sauce...ie. short rib taco had a cinnamon flavor but would have benefited with the sauce it was cooked in....the pork belly meat was a little dry. Could have had more fat and the same....the flavor was good just more of it. Loved the fillings, pickled onions, cilantro, scallions....the smoky side sauce was good.
Disappointed after reading a lot of hype. Exciting to have varieties of meat not typically found, but unfortunately most everything was pretty bland. Adding salsa helped quite a bit, but still walked away feeling underwhelmed. The worst offender was the elote with the corn that definitely seemed like it came out of a can. Drinks were great, and service was even better.
Resident Taqueria has been called out a lot on local food influencers. I assume they had paid reviews it was a big let down and it was over hyped. The menu was very confusing it’s listed on the wall you have to choose quick as the line goes out of the door kind of awkward as it’s all over the place. But the cashier kindly answered all my questions but it was kind of like a rush as people were waiting you barely get to think. Food was big let down the chips very way over salted and the salsa was mediocre. The fundido was mediocre the tortillas were fresh and warm so that a win. I tried different tacos— paneer tikka was tasting bitter not sure what messed up, shrimp taco was decent, the chicken taco tasted like pulled pork and cauliflower taco could have used some better seasoning the taco size is small so it’s barely 2-3 bites kind of hard to figure out the flavor. The dirty rice is a joke it’s a small sized dish of rice which is charged $5-6 bucks I mean the flavors were soo bland i wasn’t sure what’s all the hype about.
We have been coming here weekly and the tacos are good. However, one server or cook, or manager (med length curly hair always with an apron) has been condescending the last few times we have dined here. Today was the final straw. After we waited over 30 minutes for our tacos, we were served them cold. After we spoke to management to correct the issue, the same guy (apron and curly hair) brought out our tacos, slid the tray on to our table and said “here”, nothing more. How unprofessional and rude. We proceeded to eat our tacos, when we find a 3 inch hair in one of our tacos. We enjoy the tacos, but not after the poor customer service we have encountered the last few visits. Lost us as customers.
