Opinions de The Market Cafe Dallas
If you are a lover of breakfast foods, this is the place you need to go! Classic diner vibes, excellent food, and wonderful staff. Every time I’m in town it’s a must to stop here. There is a likely chance of a wait but typically it isn’t long. It can feel a bit crowded at times from the general size of the building and layout, but personally I feel there is plenty of room, and understand the popularity. The menu is large, with breakfast served all day along with lunch items in the afternoon, so lots of options to choose from; sizable portions. Deserts are fantastic, especially if you like pie, and the milkshakes will have you wanting one as soon as you see them. The coffee is always fresh, a bit on the nutty side, and not over acidic (think a lighter Dunkin’); or like your typical bitter diner coffee. There’s a reason this place is so popular and you’ll figure it out when you go, a must when in the area.
a truly humble experience. sat at the bar and had a chat with multiple servers about life, industry, and how to carry 8 plates without burning your hands or dropping anything. the GM came and sat next to me and chatted with me like it was nothing. there is a warmth of the soul here that is neigh impossible to mimic. i will be back.
Upon entering, we were greeted and directed to our booth where we walked by a rack of delectably tempting cakes and pies. Our server greeted us with a beautiful smile and took our order. Her attention to us was admirable and a much welcomed presence. She knew exactly when I need more coffee. The food was wonderful and the cozy atmosphere was welcoming. A definite return when I visit Dallas again.
Accommodating staff and tasty food. Meatloaf sandwich and chili stew made for a great brunch, and I enjoyed the retro aesthetic of the diner. The diner is a short drive from the Renaissance Hotel (where I stayed), but hotel guests beware; there is no walkway that lets you walk across Harry Hines Blvd to the diner.
The food was good and our server was excellent. We actually ate breakfast there two days in a row it was so good!
If you love Mom and Pop diners this is the place. Reminds of the diner my aunt and uncel had when i was goriwng up in the 80s. Get there early though as the daily special is usuay gone by noon.
This is a neat old diner. Classic look and feel. Packed at lunchtime on a Tuesday. The Club Melt was outstanding I think the best part of the sandwich was the bread. Full flavor. It was the best sandwich I’ve had in a long time. Huge portions. The tea was fresh and our waitress Sandra was very helpful. Quick service. We will be back! Only con: You may not want to pay 13.00 to 14.00 for a sandwich and fries plus drink. But trust me, It’s worth it here. Split one.
We finally got to eat here today.... yes has been on my list of must go to restaurants in Dallas for a long time ! OMD did not let me down. So clean. Such friendly wait staff and the food. Welll. Yum ! I went with my first choice (if there is no Reuben) of a Patty Melt and wow. So good. My honey had a grilled turkey with slaw that he loved. The pickles were tart and crisp. The coffee was strong and flavourful. The onion rings were hot and crispy. Next time I want the home made chips though. I saw them on another table and they looked so good !
Found by accident. Love the exterior and sign. All the cars tell you it’s a local favorite. The interior decor is ‘shop worn’ just enough to add to the ambiance. The tables are close so expect an elbow bump or two. Our waitress was very attentive offering suggestions and recommendations based on our questions. The food was out quickly by a food server. It was hot out of the kitchen and tasted great. They have a banana bread/Nutella dish that is amazing. The ‘Eggs Benedict’ were good. The waffles are great too. A police officer once told me that if you see cops eating at a restaurant it was a good clue that the place was great and the people were trustworthy since they do not eat at places where those they put in jail work. Two tables of cops (one off-duty, the other on-duty) were happily enjoying their meals. Several patrons appeared to work in the medical field as evidenced by their dress and the fact hospitals and other medical facilities are nearby. This has to be a locally owned establishment. The overall experience deserves all five stars. Give it a try and tell them Goyo GTO’s review sent you.
Great old school diner atmosphere where you are greeted at the door and the food is plentiful. Large portion size and affordable prices. I highly recommend it.
I love coming to the Market Diner. It was so good food wise and the service was phenomenal!!
Party of 7 and only a 20 min wait. Place is small and TIGHT! They squeezed a table in every available section. There is no waiting area, so you are either outside or inside standing at the door watching everyone eat. In fact if you are standing inside your probably standing over someone table 😩. Anyway, the food was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly. No one complained. I ordered french toast, cheese eggs, bacon, tomato slices and grits. They have us an extra hash brown, so I are half. We were food watching and everyone food looked good, especially the lunch/dinner food.
From The moment we walked in the workers were friendly and helpful. We noticed that they all work together as a team and had a desire to make sure every customer was satisfied. We said it the bar area in front of the grill to watch all the different food orders that was being made It was nice and pleasant.
A wonderful business that has a nice true diner atmosphere, with amazing food, and great staff. Delores always takes care of us, and makes our experience not only swell, but goes above and beyond. On the pricier side for the area, but definitely worth it.
I went for lunch, specials run about $16.99. Today I tried the French Dip - it was good but not my very favorite. The Au Jus sauce could've been a little more flavorful. Our waitress was prompt, food came out quickly and she refilled drinks several times. Love this lil diner - it's a great lunch spit. SN - lunch specials do not include a drink in the price.
Amazing traditional American Diner. I really enjoyed their Greek omelet. Service was quick and the server was kind and attentive. I will definitely be back. Some of my family members have special dietary needs and these were accommodated easily.
I am a 54 yo Okie. I have spent a lot of time in Dallas over the years. I feel cheated that I just found this crowning jewel of a diner! The coffee was hot and fresh. The Greek omelet was sooooo good. The hashbrowns were crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. DONT MISS THIS PLACE!!!!
I went here my last day in Dallas for breakfast and I am glad I did. I got the sausage and egg sandwich with cheese. It was very good, but the blueberry waffles were delicious. The atmosphere has the old fashioned diner feel and the staff were friendly. If I lived in Dallas, I'd come here all the time!
Old school diner. Not the most upgraded, but the food is tasty and the service excellent. We were seated quick, even though is was packed on a Sunday brunch time, and the food came quick. Our server was really nice!
My sister took my son and I to the Central market diner for my birthday. This was her first time there but my second. The food was really good. We tried the Greek omelette with the biscuits and gravy. My son got two eggs with hash browns and pancakes. Everything came out fairly quickly even though they were busy. Are waitress was very friendly and the food was delicious. Give it a try. I don't think you will be disappointed
I've dined in with Market Diner a hand full of times, but this will be my 1st review. Market Diner offers a wide variety of menu options from breakfast, to lunch and even dinner. The business is booming, especially on a Sunday. Get in while you can or be prepared to wait! This particular visit was on an early Sunday afternoon. We were seated promptly even with a need for a booth in a specific spot. Service is usually friendly, food is served fast and fresh! The coffee is wonderful, too. In the photo attached to my review, you'll see a Mexican burrito as well as the Greek omelet. The omelet is a new item and it was quite delicious and filling! Stuffed with gyro meat, spinach and feta cheese. I'd order that again. Hash browns are always cooked to perfection.
The food was really yummy and delicious. Tho it was busy but it took 15minutes for them to prepare our food. Loved the coffee.
Great breakfast to end our stay in Dallas. Delivers on the classic diner feel and the staff is very attentive and accommodating. We brought our suitcases and they helped see they were secured and out of the way. Delicious breakfast. Thank you!
Friendly staff and excellent food. I had the new Gyro omelet and I'll be ordering that again for sure. Everything is fairly expensive though, for a diner, but that's the norm these days.
As a big time foodie from Atlanta , Dallas Texas, This is absolutely one of the best restaurants I have been to in a very long time. The outside of the building looks like an out school sonic restaurant, but in the inside the menu and food is more than delicious. No wait for a party of two at 11:00 am on a Friday! We started with the Nutella shake, it was simply amazing! We tried the iced cinnamon roll fresh toast with egg whites and turkey sausage. We also tried the banana bread French toast. What a hit! I’d get both of them over again! The service is just as good as the food! You don’t want to miss this gem.
Been coming here for years. Never a bad dish never a bad server. We've been at all hours and holidays. Spent mother's day here and some how didn't wait long at all even tho every space was filled. This place is wonderful from foods and services to cost and portions. Love this place Every Single Time! Great job yall!!
Laura is a fantastic waitress, 30y tenure at this wonderful diner! The atmosphere is great with friendly and happy folks everywhere, customers and staff.. Can’t say enough good about the classic diner menu. Chicken fried steak is banging and as big as the average head:) This will be my absolute go-to for breakfast and probably lunch too in Dallas!
Very nice place, arrived and was promptly attended, looks old but very well conserved and the personnel are great. Food had a great taste and didn’t have to wait long. In this day there was a great gesture from the personnel as they celebrated her birthday we got to sing and wish her well and also got some cake. Nice to see this kind of things celebrated and involving everyone. Would definitely eat there again.
I'm here from the UK and have been touring Texas for a week and on my final morning found this gem. It was just what I had been searching for, an old school diner that has an unimaginable choice of breakfast treats. The service was top notch, the food was tasty and perfectly cooked and came out swiftly and my coffee mug was never less than half full. In fact it was the best coffee of my entire trip, I even got a complimentary one to go. Visit this place, fuel up leave satisfied.
Great breakfast! Best biscuits I’ve ever had. Linda served us who’s been working here over 25 years. Had great conversation with regulars (Rodney and friend) who bought us a great piece of pecan pie. Great atmosphere. Definitely recommend
My very first time eating at the original market diner, been in Dallas for 14 years now. I work five minutes from the place and haven’t eaten there. This morning I wanted breakfast and I got it to go. Pancakes were big and fluffy. Everything was cooked perfectly . Staff very friendly and attentive. I would recommend this to anybody. If there was a way to give it 20 stars I would. So here you go ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The vibe in here is great this is a beautiful dinner it reminds me of the ones you see in movies, food was delicious and the service was prompt. The espresso didn’t have a bad taste so either their machine is new or they clean it very well. They have a crazy selection of pie and cake which was also very good. I’d definitely come here next time I’m in Dallas.
Our breakfast was so good! Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Friendly staff and the restaurant has an old time diner feel! My wife had the Sam’s egg Benedict and I had the Mexican scramble. We also shared a short stack of pancakes. You can taste that everything is made with fresh ingredients and made to order. You have to eat here!! 5 stars!!!

I'm a first time customer, but I'll probably come back. It was busy with a Sunday crowd. But staff was attentive. And the food was seasoned just right. It didn't need more salt or pepper.

This was my first time the visit the Original Market Diner. The hostess met me at the door with a big smile and I was seated promptly. Laura, my server, brought me coffee and took my order. Taking note of the decor and atmosphere, it was timeless. It seemed my order was brought before I finished stirring my coffee. The food was well plated, sufficiently warm, and tasty. The coffee was not my favorite, but that is a matter of personal preference. The booth in which I was seated was a little cramped, and my legs dangled from the overly tall seat, but it wasn’t too uncomfortable to enjoy the meal. Overall, it was a good experience and I would eat here again.
Big servings of food and delicious! The waitress was so sweet and made sure everything was perfect for us. I got the strawberry waffles (about $10). Things are definitely reasonably priced for the amount you get. We sat outside, which was very pleasant and clean. The inside looked fairly cramped and outdated, and was very full as expected on a Sunday morning. No social distancing here but most of the waiters wear masks. Overall I would definitely recommend this place. It has all of the comfort food one could want!
Rustic diner with pretty good food. We were seated quickly, staff were very pleasant, and the food came pretty fast. It was busy, so there could be a wait during peak times. Parking shouldn't be an issue. The prices are reasonable, so you won't break the bank. It's one of the better breakfast places I've been to, but not the best. If I lived local, I'd come back. I really enjoyed the coffee. If you like pies, you might want to check this place out.
This place is pretty good for some old fashion diner foods. I got the eggs benedict, & it was absolutely delicious. They give you real Canadian bacon & rich hollandaise sauce. Breakfast is available all day, & the portions are huge! Not to mention, the staff is very friendly. 🙂 Visit @the.pikachew on Instagram for more food pics! 🍳🥞☕️
This place is an old fashioned dine in experience. It has a nice comfy feel in it. Very friendly staff. I witnessed an employee disinfecting menus the whole time we were there which is nice to see. Clean. The food portions are very generous so keep that in mind. Prices are so so. Some things a little pricey but considering the portion I call it fair. They have pies for sale and keep some in the circulating pie case which is cool, it adds to the whole true diner experience. I enjoyed my visit there and would go back.
The jalapeño cheese sticks were amazing! They were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crunch and gooey. The kick of the jalapeño and the dipping sauce was exactly what a cheese stick needed! The portion sizes were ABUNDANT. I found the Mac and Cheese to be disappointing in that it seemed undercooked and lacked flavor but the vegetable soup was hearty and very flavorful, perfect amount of salty/savory comfort. Our other food was good as well and there were plenty of appetizing options. The decor and atmosphere was classic diner and I loved it. Lots of Marilyn, who doesn’t want to look at that? Despite being extremely busy/crowded, our waitress was calm, collected, prompt, and pleasant. I was surprised at how quickly we got our food. I would caution that the seating is very crowded and close together. You feel like you are practically sitting with the people in the tables next to you. As such, it was very, very loud with everyone talking around you. We didn’t talk much because we couldn’t hear each other. If you have difficulty with loud/cacophony of noises or tight spaces, this setting may be difficult if they are busy.
Was a little disappointed that the Monte Cristo was not a typical Monte Cristo so I didn't order it was grilled and not fried which is the whole point of a Monte Cristo there is no raspberry preserves or anything to dip it in silent with a Plain ole grilled cheese and it wasn't as good as mine I actually took it home and fixed it. But the place is always packed, service is wonderful, and they have a hell of a selection of pies!
Would be 5 stars but…The digital jukebox will take your money (via app) but no music plays :( pretty busy on a Friday at lunch, but we were seated right away (bigger than it looks). I got one of the weekday specials (breakfast) and everything as good. Pancake perfect and fluffy. Chicken fried steak and potatoes were mid. Delicious piping hot yeast rolls (think Grandys but better!). Baked Macaroni just like grandma makes, amazing. Burger was ok and they let us sub sweet potato fries. Chocolate meringue pie was ok, nice and cold. Wish they offered malts!
One of my favorite local breakfast spots. For authentic Diner food, this is the Meals Diner of diners. Great food, good Bellini's, good service. Must try.

This place is average, just a locally supported eatery. Nothing special, bathrooms in desperate need of remodeling. Please put some effort into upgrades if prices are going to be increased.
Biscuits: 8/10. Fluffy and hand made Gravy: 4/10. Bland boring no seasoning. Hashbrowns: 7/10. Hand made no flavor though. Sausage patties: 0/10. Oven Reheated frozen patties. An embarrassment to any place that calls themselves a diner. Coffee: burnt and very mild. Not good.
We eat here every Wednesday after my cancer treatments at UT SOUTHWESTERN Medical Center. Breakfast is served all day. This is why we come here. The staff is hit and miss on friendliness. The Management is not all that friendly. Food (eggs especially) is cooked the way we like (over medium, not crusty).
We came here for brunch after my triathlon. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, service was also really good. The only thing was the food was so bland and lacked any defining quality about it. I have been here years before and don't remember it being like that. I think the only thing I remotely enjoyed were the biscuits with gravy. My son liked his milkshake and my mom said her sandwich was OK. My omelet tasted pretty boring and bland. Again, nothing special here. If you are staying down the street at a hotel and need some food than it's a decent place to go to. I most likely won't be back though.
Service is good but the food is really not up to par. My breakfast was extremely bland, my hash browns were soggy inside, muffin half burned.. You're better off going to a Dennys or IHOP.
(Hit like button) let me say first that the food is very good! The food taste fresh, it’s hot, has a quality taste, hands down It was good! I did have an issue with the customer service which is why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 5. So when we got in, no one was there to tell us to wait to be seated or to seat ourselves. I asked a waitress and she informed us to seat ourselves. Then, she said let me get some menus, but never came back with menus. I had to ask someone else to bring us a menu. On top of that, a couple came in after us and got menus before we did. Then, I ordered biscuits with gravy, then ordered a second order of biscuits for my food but the waitress brought out additional cornbread and rolls with the second order of biscuits. I was like “she could have informed me that bread comes with the table. Lastly, it took the waitress 3 times coming back and forth to the table to bring me a straw. I kept reminding her and each time she came back, she forgot (until the 3rd time). Once again the food is delicious but I wasn’t too happy with the service.

Me and my wife went to this restaurant and she had the burrito with hash browns and I had eggs, turkey and hash browns.. it took like 10 minutes and it is great.. however, the pancakes were 25 or 30 mins.. is a pancake take 25 mins?!? I can flip a flapjack in 5 or 6 mins.. the food was ok, it was cold.. my wife was warm/hot and it was ok.. I would say 2.4 or so.. it was not outstanding but it is Ok.. again it is $$$ $41 for two people.. I will not be back.. owner: there are 80% of the breakfast restaurants that are cheaper than the business AND better food..
I'm not really a big diner restaurant fan anyway. I was there with my parents. My stepfather has lipstick on his water glass which grossed him out and pissed him off. And for me, I have a dairy allergy, which apparently to any restaurant I've ever been to, unless it's a health and allergy conscious restaurant which is rare, is apparently unheard of because they cooked my hashbrowns without butter, which I appreciated, but also without OIL and they came out super soggy. Is it that hard to accommodate to somebody's dietary restrictions? And I'm not trying to be a "picky eater who just chooses to eat this way." NO! I have a legit dietary restriction and NOBODY takes that seriously. Plus the over all favor was seriously lacking if there was any flavor at all.
The veggie burger was pasty textured and awful, not even served with mayo or mustard. Chicken and dumplings were flavorless with a watery broth.
Not quite sure where the outstanding reviews come from for this place. The waitress forgot to get my coffee until I reminded her when the food came. The bacon was cooked too hot and was tough, and the rangers omelette was disgusting. I had the privilege of paying 22 dollars for a meal here when I could go to an original house of pancakes and get better food for half the price. I guess it has a cool vibe. Not sure if that’s really worth it.
Let me just start out with the host wasn’t very talkative or friendly. In any business you want the first face you see to be friendly, groomed, smell good and always smiling. This just starts the experience well. My husband and I wanted to order the Two egg omelette ($8.95)That came with one choice of meat or vegetables. No cheese included. Hash brown or grits and toast or 1 pancake. We wanted two extra meats and veggies. Our waiter suggested we order a different omelette $17.50 and added the veggies. Now she didn’t mention that the veggies were extra she just added away. We also wanted hot sauce. We did the math and as you all can see on our ticket, the vegetables came out to be $24.50 just for the veggies. I felt like we just shopped at Central Market for our vegetables (and not even central market veggies) and we didn’t even get to bring the rest of the veggies home. Very disappointed. Other than that presentation looked well and omelette tasted ok. Grits were flavor less. Cold unmelted cheese was yucky. Same thing for the cheese on the grits. Gravy wasn’t really flavorful and tasted like it came from a packet. Definitely not a first good impression. Took forever to get refill on water and took a while for them to come get my card so we could leave. But as soon as saw me getting ready to leave, they came to collect the money. $63.76 for two omelette… COME ON. You have to do better.
I wish I had taken a picture. I ordered a slice of ice box lemon pie and a roll for $10. This was the world's smallest slice of pie and did not realize I paid $3.00 for a basic roll. Not worth …
Eggs was only thing made to order Hashbrown and bacon were old and cold. Would not go again. Was not asked if food was okay, I’m sure they knew

I chose this place to dine because of the other reviews.. well unfortunately I didn’t have a great experience. My pancakes were dry, even either the blueberries on top! Eggs and grits we just ok, and $5 for a glass of orange juice is ridiculous! My spouse ordered French toast.. we ended up sending it back, because it had no taste of French toast. It honestly looked and tasted like buttered bread that was placed on the grill, with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Our waitress was sweet, but she couldn’t stop coughing.. you can’t bring food to the table while coughing dear! 👎
Place 9.5 Flavor 9 Service 0 I went to get breakfast to go two days in a row, and the ladie who served me did so with an attitude of evident anger, unlike other customers, whom she served with a smile and kindness. I wonder if it was because I am different. What caught my attention the most was that on the second day, this attitude was even more noticeable. In fact, she didn't even want to take my order; she just commented, 'You came yesterday, right?' and then asked someone else to take my order. Although her behavior bothered me, I simply limited myself to placing my order, paying, and leaving without saying anything. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this time, that kind of attitude has truly upset me.
I’m sorry, but for $25 the fried catfish was absolutely unacceptable. The breading completely separated from the fish, making it difficult to enjoy, and everything was extremely oily — including the fries. For the price, I expected much better quality and preparation. Very disappointing experience.
The food at this place is awesome. I get the same thing all the time and it's always delicious. However, my experience with the hostess Marie was disappointing. When I arrived, the place was packed. No seating was available. Yeah the food is that good here. I kindly told the hostess that I would gladly wait outside until some seating was available and asked if she would let me know when something opened up. She agreed. I was outside maybe a few minutes and saw a couple leaving the restaurant so I was excited thinking I will surely be hearing from Marie any second now. Meanwhile, another couple arrived to have brunch. As they passed me and went in, something told me I'd better go back inside. Low and behold Marie was seating the newly arrived couple not far from the bath room. When she came back to the front she just looked at me like nothing happened. I told her I saw what she did and did not appreciate it. I asked her why she sat that couple before me and that I was waiting for her to let me know when a table was available. She was very nonchalant about it. - "A table is coming up. They are cleaning it off now". I told her that was wrong. She was supposed to let me know and seat me. She didn't want to hear that. She insisted that a table was ready and that I could go sit down. No I'm sorry. No apology. No nothing. Just totally unprofessional. After I was seated and settled in, I saw her talking to a male employee while standing close to the front door. He glanced over at me during their conversation. Totally unprofessional. Lord I just hope no one spat in my food. You can tell it's a close knit group that works there. Shout out to Bobbe who listened to my grievance and apologized. She also gave me excellent service. She's the best and a sweetheart!!
