For my husband and I, and for those who visit or we share bags of this with, this is the best coffee that we’ve ever had. We do not Live in the area but travel annually during the summers. This is when we bulk purchase our coffee. When we cannot make it, we asked our family members in the area to purchase for us and ship it to us! We cannot complain about the line, as we apparently would go at “off” times. Food, beverages, staff interactions, and ambiance have always been good during our visits. We are loyal customers all the way from Sonoma County. *Please add vegan options for sandwiches and treats!

Very charming coffee shop. I got a decaf vanilla oat latte and it was delicious. Such friendly staff, particularly Stephanie and Susana . The warm seating inside with the library is the cherry on top.

When I visit my in laws in Mission Viejo, I always make it a point to make a drive down to Dana Point to get their sausage burrito and iced vanilla latte. Really good stuff.

An empty cup of thunder blend is awesome. Always a good place to catch up on emails and have a great cup of coffee

Tried this place for the first time. Had a double Caramel Macchiato and a turkey sausage burrito. The espresso is definitely a very dark smokey roast which was very delicious, but I do feel it was overly sweet. Had it with almond milk. Burrito just seemed like a potato burrito was pretty disappointed but got the job done.

Go here!!!! Everything is good. Everything. I used to get the thunderbolt which is just caffeine with more caffeine. My go to now is their dirty iced chai latte. Locals know the place really well and I hope that visitors stop by and fall in love with it too. There’s a drive through system that makes the best use of space and demand. Just be advised… don’t block the sidewalk or the driveway for girl in curl that neighbors their driveway.

Best coffee I’ve had on the coast besides Urban City in Washington state. One of the lady employees even came out and entertained my five year old some for a few minutes. I highly recommend this place for a great coffee.

Best vanilla latte I’ve ever had. Love the relaxing ambiance, the large collection of books, friendly staff, and comfy chairs! Super busy during the mornings but that’s true for any decent coffee shop, and they manage it well. There’s a drive thru but I prefer going inside and waiting in the book area, browsing the selection. You can take a book they just ask for a $2 donation to the Dana Point library :)

This place is an absolutely amazing real coffee house. Way laid back vibes, with really good handcrafted beverages. A fun take 1 leave 1 locals library integrated into the decor... it is absolutely worth the stop well into the afternoon.

J C Beans Inc is our go-to coffee shop when we’re in Dana Point. While we can’t speak to the inside (we always have our dogs with us) the drive-thru service is fantastic. Their menu offers a wide variety of coffee beverages as well as tasty treats (they even have dog treats at the pickup window). This place is so popular, that on occasion, the drive-thru line overflows onto PCH. To us, that’s no biggie. The move cars forward at a respectable pace, and they bring our beverages out to the car. Highly recommend this coffee joint!

Place was sort of empty which is to be expected on a late monday afternoon, I guess. But holy cow this whole milk latte is perfection! I’ve been drinking it so it doesn’t look perfect but check out how delicate that foam is, and the temp was 👌 best i’ve had in a looong time. Good job, y’all!

Great cozy coffee house. Patio had plenty of seating. Inside seating was beautiful and cozy with a fireplace. A lot of coffee and desserts to choose from. Great location in the middle of Dana Point.

I loved going here pre-pandemic. Five stars for the coffee and snacks! But, now that the place is re-modeled I will need to find somewhere new for magical, old world, cozy coffee shop vibes. I don't really get it from a marketing perspective because their ambience is why everyone I know goes there. I will still support their drive thru!

Best coffee in Dana Point! The breakfast burritos and other food items are delicious as well. The drive through is a bit unconventional, as you may have to wait on the main road while in line depending on the number of cars. Aside from that, the coffee, food, and service are exceptional.

It was OK I had vanilla Chai latte it was a little too sweet overall taste was good. I asked for extra hot. It was between warm and hot. A little pricy. I ordered large I thought the menu said $4.70 I was charged $5.30. I didn't say anything I could have been wrong. Would I go there again probably not. You do say best coffee in town and maybe you are that's why the long lines - but I don't drink coffee.

Delicious coffee! Very well balanced, not over processed, minor gripe with sediment in my drink which should not happen in properly prepared lattes but still had a great flavor. Still recommend and I hope a one off occurrence.

Very cozy lobby. Nice patio. Very tiny parking lot. Fast and friendly service. I ordered a Chai Latte, it was too sweet for my taste. Next time I will ask if they can make it less sweet .

Cute spot. Small on the inside but some seating and a nice library. Expansive coffee menu and friendly staff! The drive thru option is nice, but parking is limited and very tight. Seems like a nice spot to sit down and work, and less of a visiting place. Cold brew was okay. A bit watered down but definitely better than most of the coffee that I’ve experienced in Dana Point.

Coffee, chai, breakfast burritos and pastries are delicious (their dirty chai is my absolute favorite treat)... but the service is painfully slow both in the drive-thru line and inside the shop. Doesn't stop me from going as long as I know I have ample time to wait. Highly recommend if you're looking for a locally owned coffee shop and have the time. Drive past the Starbucks a block away & come here instead for much better drinks!

Best breakfast burritos and chai latte! Also love their iced vanilla lattes. I do have to say though they need to clean up. Clean the place but also clean their attitudes. It is borderline uncomfortable when you are trying to be kind and they look at you like they are annoyed. Just not the coffee shop energy you want to start the day. And I'm really trying to support small businesses in this economy rather than Starbucks.

Love this place. Used to get coffee all the time. Bourbon pecan flavor is great. Started buying whole beans. Sadly, they don’t sell while beans anymore. Would rate 5 stars otherwise.

Exceptional coffee! really great tasting and loads of options for different roasts. They're specialty drinks are great as well. Ambiance is amazing - provides a good environment for sitting and working while people cruise through. The dog friendly patio is also really nice. Baristas are friendly 90% of the time. Not a huge fan of the bar stools at the high tables, they're pretty uncomfortable for sitting/working for a bit. Biggest complaint is the WIFI though. It's pretty terrible. I've had to leave all my stuff set up and walk over to the starbucks to download something and then come back to continue working. Only other complaint is that I'm surprised they're not more sustainability focused considered they're right by the ocean? Plastic straws and cups, loads of plastic on the food etc etc. Definitely the best coffee around though but hope they improve some of their other aspects soon.

I ordered a medium hot white mocha with oatmilk. I got charged $6.25 for a large mocha (still received what looked like a medium) + $1.25 add white mocha with oatmilk (+$1.00.) I asked the girl that rang me up plus a male barista if I was charged correctly, and they said yes. The girl said the white mocha is more expensive than the regular mocha, but I'm not sure why I was charged for a mocha + white mocha sauce, when I only wanted white mocha. She could've just charged me for a latte and then added white mocha to that price. It doesn't make sense, but the drink was very good.

It’s a nice place indoor and outdoor seating also there are parking spots in the back plus drive through. However, I have been there few times and their coffee not the best for me, I don’t know why is it the quality of coffee or the espresso machine old idk.

We found this spot after driving around Dana point - not too many coffee shops around the area. The reviews looked decent so we gave it a shot . Aesthetics are nice it has a library inside and some seating inside and outside . The girl at the front knew nothing about coffee or to recommend anything which I found odd . We tried an iced americano- it was so watery we asked her to make it again and she kindly did . It wasn’t filled up all the way kind of a rip off for the price and the taste was mediocre .. idk probably won’t come back again to try anymore drinks .

Thx for all the good reviews we found this place, contributing more :))) great coffee and surprisingly great treats. Overall beautiful stylish place. One problem is parking. The is some parking at back streets or opposite side of the PHW. And definetely the best drive through coffee :))) Our secobd visit was not so great. Staff was not friendly, to say the least, I asked for light roast coffee, it arrived as dark roast, almost burned. I am not sure if I am returning. Was able to check on a few more places around with sone success.

I visit Dana Point frequently, but this was my first time to J C. Beans. Despite the 4.5 stars it has, I did not feeling the coffee was all that great. It was not super flavorful and the Americano (one of two drinks we purchased) was the smallest I've seen for close to $5. The breakfast burrito was actually quite good and the atmosphere is cute, though on a busy, noisy road. I probably wouldn't go there again, but it was worth a shot.

Wife and I had a day in Dana Point and wanted some coffee. Looked at the reviews of this place and it looked good. I will say off rip, some of the best decor I have ever seen in a cafe. Books everywhere, creative designs choices, paintings of the classics on the walls and even in the bathroom. They had an idea, executed it, and it came out great. Atmosphere for sure gets a 10/10. As for service, it was fine. Dude taking my order was fine, and did his job. So I would say the service was just fine. I did notice that it seems to be a family owned business, which is always great. I ordered a Matcha Latte, my wife ordered a blended mocha. I try not to assume anything about any business, but sometimes you can tell when places are better at making coffee than tea, vice versa, or when they are good at making both. This was one of the places where I could feel they probably make better coffee than tea. I got my matcha and I could tell by the color, it was either gonna be bad or just alright. It was alright! I ordered mine half sweet, but it had a very strong vanilla and milk flavor rather than a umami matcha flavor. Which isn't always bad, but it was a lot of sweet and milk than actual tea. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, they did have a bit of a rush in their drive thru. But for something that was just mediocre and 7 bucks.. I just would get something else next time. Although my wife's blended mocha was VERY good. Great blended texture, perfect mix of coffee and mocha. Very refreshing. Something I would get here next time. Beautiful decor, kind of iffy location for parking and such, fine service. I'd come again!

Sorry but if I’m paying $4 for a croissant at a non-chain coffee shop, I expect it to be anything other than a Costco croissant, which I’m 99.9% sure is what I was sold here. They have a very distinctive flavor and texture (bland, soft, not flaky or buttery whatsoever… everyone knows what they taste like). And we foolishly bought 2 of them. I also had a chai latte that lacked the spiciness of a good chai ( it tasted mostly like milk.) Will likely not return.

Bad coffee, beans aren’t tasty and they aren’t really equipped with any knowledge or correct accoutrements. Had to repeat my order about seven times. I don’t know why they are rated so highly. Maybe because there is a cute patio to sit, but if you’re drinking swill what’s the point of trying to enjoy it on the patio. Oh well.

What was once a cozy coffee shop where people could relax, enjoy a latté and a nice pastry in a pleasant environment has been transformed into a Starbucks clone with poor acoustics, subpar pastries, and a staff screaming the names of their customers over the din of the coffee grinders and blenders. My reaction was "Get me out of here!" I won't be back.

On a road trip stop by here along the way because of good reviews, but my husband order a burrito and they kept on for getting to make it. Plus it was microwave to be heated up so there is nothing special about the food. Coffee was good.

Love the seating inside and out. Friendly employee I came across. I don’t drink coffee but I drink tea - the quality of drinks they have in my opinion are lacking. I wanted a matcha but it’s the sugary Starbucks kind - not true ceremonial matcha. I decided with Earl Grey plain. The tea is from Smart N Final. Would so love if they upped their quality! It feels like you just have a great location.

After experiencing a total of 6 collisions, not at fault car accidents, I have a service dog and in healing need to adjust to being in public and feeling safe...so I choose jc beans after 23 years of living and loving Dana Point...jc beans felt a better choice than Starbucks that's just too loud for me... yet after only 15 minutes I was approached about my dog and made to feel unwelcome. Loud embarrassing situation because it's a small place. I gave them the federal ID to show his years in service and then she left but I was there now feeling horrible where I went to feel safe. Don't worry Jc Beans... I use to put you above the rest, but I won't be going inside again. UPDATE: Went to the New Philz coffee place. . .yes, it is new, so it was Busy and loud, but I was not harassed about my dog while in the place and all the other dogs were outside. I AM A DIE HARD DANA POINT, LOYAL LOCAL & WAS NEVER GOING TO GO IN PHILZ BECAUSE I SUPPORT JC BEANS... THAT'S DONE WITH NOW. PHILZ, YOU HAVE A NEW LOYAL ROYAL LOCAL IN ME AND MY POOCH.

Overall, very disappointing experience. I ordered an iced coffee with cream and the coffee was surprisingly bad and had a strange aftertaste. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich, which was clearly microwaved (including the bread, which should have been toasted). Sat at a table and the seat was uncomfortable and off balance. I purposely tried this place instead of just going to Starbucks as it had good reviews and looked cute from the outside. Can now say would have been better off going to the nearby Starbucks.

I knew the coffee was going to be bad when the barista asked me what size cappuccino I wanted large, medium, small and if I wanted my macchiato traditional (not sure what that even means). The closest comp I have is that the coffee tasted similar to those espresso machines in Centurion or Airline Lounges (ie overly hot, weird milk foam, and bitter). Personally, I don’t like leaving bad reviews for local businesses but when your product is this bad others need to know.

Terrible from the start. Came in with a girlfriend for a quick cup on a quiet evening. The girl who took our order barely had basic manners, let alone any customer service skills. She was clearly annoyed that she was being made to do her job at all. We waited for the order for a long time. Finally got it and mine was labeled like it was made wrong. So we went to the counter to ask about it. Waited several minutes just to get someone’s attention cause because all the kids were goofing around in the kitchen in the back. A customer came in and a boy slowly took his order, not even acknowledging us standing there waiting. We finally get to ask for the order to be remade. Wait forever again. Another customer mistakenly took it cause they never called our name or wrote it in the cup. So we ask for it made AGAIN. Boy was the girl annoyed now!..As if the situation was somehow our fault. Finally get my drink. The coffee is burnt and disgusting. Undrinkable. A few min later, a boy comes out and says to everyone there that they’re closed and we need to leave “ASAP.” Seriously? The kids running the place couldn’t give a damn about anything but themselves. It was like a bad joke from start to finish. Won’t step foot in there again.

Garbage. Dana point is definitely turning into Newport Beach and jc beans has definitely jumped on board. It's been 6 years since I regularly visited and thought I'd stop by for nostalgia sake and enjoy what used to be fantastic coffee and pastries. I mean, just look at previous pictures of the place compared to now. Terrible coffee. Terrible vibe. It pains me to say this but you'll likely have a better experience at Starbucks across the street 🤮

This morning I was going to Starbucks but decided to support local. Worst coffee ever, I am certain that it was made with non filtered tap water, as I know the taste and it gets me sick. I got sick right after.
