Opinions de Golden Sand Harbor Danville
This Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem in Dublin! We had a family dinner on a weeknight and I did not know they also have dim sum available at night! Everything we had was fresh, made to order and delicious. The owners are super friendly! Great service, food and very clean. Thank you!
Labor Day weekend means getting a break from cooking. This time, we opted to go to Golden Sand Harbor in Dublin, Ca. The restaurant offers a lot of Chinese Food options from the menu plus an all day Dimsum, so there’s plenty of variety to choose from, depending on how hungry you are. Tonight, we were craving for Dimsum! Our dinner choices were shrimp fried rice, steamed rice noodle with shrimp, stewed beef with turnip, chinese brocolli, clam and chicken feet, both in black bean sauce, pork soup dumpling and scallop/shrimp dumpling and a spongy malaysian cake for dessert. We also ordered the kupo tea, a mix of black tea and sunflower petals. The Chinese brocolli was perfectly done, with it’s stem being crispy and the top leaf being soft but not soggy. I’m glad the oyster sauce was served on the side so I can control how much I need. The noodle wrapper was fresh and delicate, with shrimp being plump and generous. My daughter loves her pork dumplings. My hubby enjoyed the beef turnip. The scalloped was kind of overcooked but still tastes great. I’m torn with the fried rice. I felt like it could use a little salt but with all the food being tasty, maybe not being salty enough is perfect. I personally enjoyed the clams and the soft chicken feet, being my favorite dimsum items. The cake was perfectly steamed as well, very spongy and soft. You can eat it on it’s own or dip it with some of the sauce from the beef stew or chicken feet and it tastes great also. Overall, this place satisfied our cravings!
Would highly recommend this place. Great food, great customer service , clean and well kept .
Definitely make reservations or you’ll be waiting for a table. We came here for Fathers Day and I’m so glad we did. The service is very friendly and the food is excellent. Came here with a group of 8 and had a lovely meal. Shumai is especially large portion. Recommend Hong Kong noodles too
Very delicious and reminded me of my childhood favorite dim sum that I would get in SF. For being a sit down dim sum place, the prices were amazing! They were out of my favorite, the baked bbq pork buns and they said to go early on weekends or call and let them know you’re coming and they can save some. I will be coming back for my favorite item probably tomorrow morning!

This is my second time there and the food is authentic and super tasty yet again. They serve Dim Sum even for dinner which is a bonus. Their crab meat fish maw soup is a must and being a seafood lover - their seafood dim sum dishes hits close to home. Their manager is very accommodating and ensures all guests are well taken care of.
Golden Sand Harbor catered Dim Sum for my wedding and did an amazing job. It was an absolute hit (even better than the open bar). I would totally recommend them if you're looking to add hors d'oeuvres to your wedding or event.
Our wedding venue didn’t have much for authentic asian food so we hired Golden Sand Harbor to do catering. They catered dim sum hors d'oeuvres for our bi-racial wedding and they were a hit.
This place is SO SO good! Can't believe I didn't know about this place earlier. Especially good is the honey walnut shrimp and prime rib entree.

At Golden Sand Harbor, everything just felt right. The tea came in cups with a clever grooved design — so hot we wrapped them in napkins, and the staff immediately brought extra without us even asking. Small touches like that set the tone. The food was excellent: Singapore noodles light and flavorful, har gow and shumai perfectly done, and the beef tripe that the gentleman at the door suggested — exactly the authentic taste I remembered from Shanghai. He knew what I meant, and he was right.
Golden Sand Harbor is a fantastic dim sum restaurant for gathering with friends and family. Compared to other dim sum restaurants in the area, it is more affordable and easier to find seating. The atmosphere is quieter, and I appreciate the calming ambiance compared to other crowded dim sum places. My favorite dishes include BBQ pork pastry, siu mai, steamed BBQ pork buns, pan-fried turnip cake, and shrimp rice noodle rolls. There's ample parking, and the staff is friendly and speaks good English. The service is quick, and the food quality is above average. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant more often.
I would highly encourage you to visit this place. Although it’s an old style, Chinese restaurant with traditional, classic design. I was to say that it’s really worth it giving it a shot. Good restaurant style furniture, snow, white tablecloth, branded plates, and dissent silverware will be to your service. Welcoming and pleasant service with old school paper menu pick-list checkcheckboxes. Would highly encourage you to try a Beef Chow Fun with their in-house hot sauce served on each table. Add to it Pan fried shrimp & chives dumplings and top it off with old time good Durian puffs with some tea. If you want something later, you can always get a shredded chicken porridge with the same in-house hot sauce that you won’t be able to stop eating. Prices are relatively low and dinner for two will cost you way under $50 for the above list. Second time I’m here I am by far not the last!
The shrimp rice rolls and egg tarts are 5 stars worth! Also the food tastes and feels fresh. We won't order the Shanghai dumplings (soup dumplings) again though because they were more like ordinary dumplings with almost no soup in them and the skin is thicker (still yummy). BBQ pork rice rolls didn't get rid of the pork smell, so will not be ordering them either. Still overall good price and food, we will come back to try out more menu.
Food is good, cut one star off because they don’t put price on the menu. It’s not expensive but customers should be able to see it.
Good food with reasonable price and great portion. Maybe it’s not the best Cantonese food but definitely quite family style and just feel right.

There are better dim sum options in this area. The dishes here are a bit blend, the pineapple bun was too sweet on the inside. The royal chicken was dry, tough, and freezing (felt like it was in the freezer).
The rice roll dishes were not good since they were not cooked enough that it gave a weird flavor. Soy sauce for it was also ehh. The fried stuff is really good and the normal dim sum items are also pretty good. The other down side is the price per dish.

Not a very pleasant visit to this place. From the first whiff of smell upon entering the place to service to food quality, everything was disappointing. The entrance way smelled like the restroom whose floor was soaked with dirty liquid; the waitress dumped the settings on the table and let us set the table even though they were not busy or shorthanded. The first dish was bean sprouts with crab meat sauce that looked like diarrhea. Other dishes looked okay but some of us came out with gripping bowel pain, that raised the question of the sanitary practice of the restaurant.

I honestly never leave reviews for restaurants but I have to for this one! I ordered the salt and pepper prawns expecting that it would be the traditional shrimp heads but nope.. it’s some other type of shrimp that has no shell or head. Also ordered the egg flower soup and for some odd reason it has zucchini in it and a pea??? I guess I will have to ask ahead of time now if my soup will have zucchini and if my shrimp will have heads. I also ordered a Hong Kong style House Combo Chow Mein and expected it to have some squid and octopus like other places I’ve ordered from before. Instead there was overcooked shrimp..Another item I ordered was the West Lake Soup, it was decent but a bit watered down, had too many clumps of egg, and the beef didn’t seem cooked all the way. One other item I ordered was the Moo Shu Wraps, I’m used to the wrap being a lot thinner and fresh. This one seems like it could possibly be a store bought tortilla wrap. The only decent thing I ordered was the Black Bean Clams! Would love if the menu was more detailed with the ingredients and have more photos of the food. It’s so hard to find a decent restaurant here in the suburbs.
This was the sliced beef that we ordered from the restaurant; and it came with a human tooth. The tooth was embedded in the one of the slices. My friend took a piece and bit on the tooth. She screamed in pain while spitting out the tooth. This was unbelievable. After she explained that it wasn’t her tooth, we bought to the manager’s attention. The manager not only DID NOT apologize, she suggested that it may have been my friend’s tooth. We were in shock how the manager handled this situation. A simple apology, and replacement of the dish would have ended the matter. There were 10 people in our party, we decided to pay for what was bought to the table and left the restaurant.
‼️RACIST MANAGER‼️ RED FLAG and read below before you go: If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My family and I had an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience at Golden Sand Harbor that I feel compelled to share to warn others. We had been looking forward to enjoying a meal together, but our day was ruined by the appalling behavior of an older waitress. From the moment we sat down, she was rude and dismissive, making us feel unwelcome. The situation escalated when she made several offensive and insulting comments directed at us and even at my four year old daughter. Her behavior was completely unprovoked and left us feeling humiliated and disrespected. We decided to speak with the manager named Leslie Yu, hoping for a resolution and an apology. To our shock, the manager's response was even more distressing. Not only did he refuse to apologize for the waitress's behavior, but he also exhibited a blatantly racist attitude towards us. It was clear that he had no intention of addressing our concerns or making amends for the unacceptable treatment we received. I highly doubt why any restaurant would hire a such unprofessional manager. The manager's refusal to apologize on behalf of his employee or the restaurant was the final straw. It is deeply troubling that a place of business would allow such behavior to go unchecked and would treat its customers with such blatant disrespect. This experience has left a lasting negative impression on us, and we will never return to Golden Sand Harbor. I urge others to think twice before dining here. No one should have to endure the kind of mistreatment and discrimination that we experienced. There are many other establishments that value their customers and provide a welcoming and respectful environment. Avoid Golden Sand Harbor at all costs.
