Opinions de Isshido Ramen Del Mar
The Salmon with white rice, egg, and seaweed soup is my favorite! I’m an African American 25 year old military wife and I’ve been trying something new to lose weight but healthy eating as well and after having my meal replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch this is my dinner for the week. This meal is what I eat along with the Seaweed Soup every day and to be honest this is the highlight of my day. Thank you for the great service as well. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a healthy option as well as a new spot to eat at.
Had to make a run to Mira Mesa and decided to try Isshido ramen. In a strip mall, isshido is a nice lil spot with simple decor. Single me, I always get seated at the bar area. As always, I ordered takoyaki and their signature paitan ramen. Takoyaki wasn't freshly made(as all ramen spots) but it was okay than others. The ramen was pretty good. Enough without ordering extra noodles. Doesn't come with much so you have to add. Wish they had bamboo shoots and seaweed as the basic. I don't like corn with my ramen. The broth was tasty and hasn't as hot when it came out. So the broth and noodle didn't maintain as it got warm quick. The charshu was really good. Bit charred and not dry but a bit on the thin side. Egg was good. In all this place, ramen wise, is my #3 ramen in San Diego. I live in Clairemont, so the drive is a bit far so I guess I'll maybe stop by again when I need to go to Mira Mesa. There are other ramen spots in Mira mesa and I've tried those here in the Kerney Mesa area and those don't make my top 5. It's you to choose. Go to Isshido, good ramen. On to the next.
Great place for lunch. Been here several times already. Food is getting better and better, and the price is getting more friendly for sure. I tried the abura soba this time, this is simply amazing!! I haven't tried this kind of cold soba noodle for a very long time. This should be a must-try in the hot summer season. Will try cold tantan next time!
I noticed this new Ramen house opened as I drive through Mira Mesa Blvd, as a ramen lover, I have tried a lot Ramen houses in San Diego, and today I decide to come and try. Ordered chicken Karaage which tastes crispy outside and juicy inside, Takoyaki is the best in SD. Want to give thumbs up to Spicy Tan-tan Ramen, it has very unique flavor, very tasty, and Noodle is chewy, everything is just about right to me, definitely recommend this. The service here is good, waited about 10-15 minutes and our food is ready. Will come back again and try other Ramen as well.
Wow. Incredible ramen full of flavor!! I ordered the spicy miso ramen. The broth was so delicious, and the pork chashu was super tender. The chef Andrew was so kind and you can tell he really took the time to create a beautiful presentation. Samantha was thoughtful and attended to all my needs promptly! Highly recommend!!!!
FIRST TIME HERE AT THIS RESTURANT. AND MUST SAY WAS VERY GOOD. VERY CLEAN INSDE, BATHROOM, AND PLENTY OF SITTING. THE DISHES WERE MANY. ANDVERY GOOD INDEED. GREEN TEA WAS THE BOMB , AND YILEI WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND VERY NICE. ORDERED PORK CHASHU YAKISOBA, 😋 AND HUBBY ORDERED BLACK MAYU TONKOTSU SOUP. VERY DELICIOUS 😋 ALSO. FRIED SHRIMP 🍤.
Came here with my family of 7 for a dinner on Sunday. We were seated and provided water right away. There was only one other table filled, but the place filled shortly after we arrived. There are several different size tables and a bar to sit at. With only one server that day, she was still quick to serve everyone coming it and the tables. She definitely is a friendly, hard worker. We ordered appetizers (squid karaage, chicken gyoza, and park gyoza) to share first to give us more time to figure out our main meals. The squid karaage was a little overcooked, making a little chewy. I ordered the Ultimate Chashu Ramen, and my wife ordered the Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen with extra chashu and egg. You also get to choose the type of ramen noodles you want. The chashu was done correctly - charred thin slices of pork belly. The chashu was delicious. The broth was not as flavorful than overall favorites of mine, but I would say it's a top-five for San Diego for me. The atmosphere was fun and decorated well. I would definitely come back for more.
We thought the food here was great. Even their nuggets were tasty. Usually we find most chicken ramen bland but this has good taste for the kids. Also the kids serving is a great portion for a 7 yr old. I liked the regular ramen over the spicy but still really good. The staff was so nice with our kids. We will come here again for sure.
Love this place!!! I drive out of my way to come here regularly and look forward to it every time! I think about it for days after I eat here 😆 Personally, it’s always a treat. The ramen is perfect. I get the same thing every time and add kale. The edamame is good too and the rice is perfectly cooked. My boyfriend has tried the bento boxes and other ramen flavors. Great customer service every time! Definitely recommend.
My husband and I have been coming to Isshido for a little over three years now and we love it every time we come in! The staff are some of the friendliest and most sociable, the food is always above and beyond. There is a lot of love that goes into their food and atmosphere and we will keep coming back for more.
Love this place! We were searching a family friendly restaurant when traveling to SD and this place is perfect, me and my wife love the ramen, braised short ribs, beef tongue and aburi salmon, our picky kid really likes the ramen and braised short ribs. Will definitely dine in again when in SD next time!
I love the PORK CHASHU BOWL, the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl and the Chicken Katsu Bowl. They are rice bowls and some of my favorite things here. The sauces aren't overly sweet and the whole bowl isn't soaked in sauce. I love that. I really like the red Fukujinzuke vegetables in them, and even the egg was especially good. I like to leave the Seaweed and Kimchi off so the flavors don't take over. The Chashu Bowl had big chunks of pork that were full of flavor, tender and delicious. I love the sauce on it too. It's my kind of bliss. 🥰 The CUCUMBER SALAD was magnificent. It is slightly spicy and so flavorful. The Short Rib Steak Appetizer was really good too; together they make a nice meal. Or the steak and their fries were great together. The spicy TAN-TAN RAMEN was wonderful with both the ground pork and the Chicken Chasu. I didn't know Ramen could be so delicious! I didn't even consider myself a Ramen person, but I was craving more the minute I finished them. I love the ground meat in the Tan-Tan. That alone had a unique flavor compared to other Ramens I have tried. The TRUFFLE RAMEN is definitely one of my favorite ramens because of the unique broth. It already comes with mushrooms. That broth is really rich and satisfying. The SHORT RIB STEAK and the BLACK MAYU RAMEN were so good. The broth was complex and full of flavor; and the ingredients were so fresh. I like the thin noodles. The MISO RAMEN was good, comforting and no spice if you want that. The same with the CHICKEN PAITAN. The chicken is pretty plain compared to the others. I usually go for more flavor, but these two might be the perfect thing for some people. I appreciate that they are open all afternoon, and don't have tricky hours to remember. And I like how there are so many ways to customize your Ramen and so many different kinds! I am having fun working my way through the menu. The food may not rock your world, like it did mine, but it's good and solid and definitely worth a try. Especially if you are already a Ramen Person. 😁
This place is incredible! There are so many Ramen options and each one has such a delicious and unique flavor. At this point I’ve tried almost every kind and have loved each one for different reasons. If Ramen isn’t your thing (although, that’s what I used to think about myself until becoming obsessed with this place 😂) there are also a lot of other options here! The rice bowls especially are just delicious. The Teriyaki Chicken Bowl and the Pork Chashu Bowl are some definite favorites. The flavor in these is also wonderful!
Wife loves coming here for their curry, and it never disappoints. Daughter always orders their tonkatsu ramen with yellow chewy noodles. I normally get the black mayo ramen, but this time around I decided to get the squid karage curry and that was delicious as well. The one thing that always brings us back is the excellent customer service from our waitress. She is usually the only one taking everyone's order, but still manages to be so personable and polite. This time around she kept refilling our tea with hot water just so it didn't get cold from the AC. One thing especially I like it here is that she doesn't allow you to pack your leftovers, but she does it herself ,just so its perfectly placed in your To-Go container. That extra added touch of customer service is why we are regulars here. When you do the small stuff to take care of your customers, it goes a long way with us.
Food: Ultimate Chashu Ramen - delicious. Broth was excellent, the 8 pieces of chashu were delicious, ramen noodles were yummy. No complaints here! Beef curry *restaurant week deal smaller size - yummy! well seasoned Chicken karaage *restaurant week deal smaller size - can’t go wrong with fried chicken Location: In a bustling shopping center. Lots of parking but also lots of people. Ambiance: Cute ramen bar styled restaurant. Table and bar seating. Service: 10/10. Our server was lovely, the food was hot and fresh, and we were waited on immediately.
My experience at this Ramen spot was a to go order. After visiting for a few minutes & and taking the food home, I absolutely will be coming back to sit down & enjoy the ramen. It was delicious and packaged to travel well. The service over the phone & upon arrival were extremely inviting & friendly! I had the seaweed salad & steak Ramen with thick noodles. Very flavorful & a big serving had enough for the next day!
#deals I am not a ramen person. I was with a friend and just happened..... I was surprised at how good the meal was. The extra noodles when ordering a main dish for 1.5$ is a great deal if you're hungry. Happy hour is a good deal too. Update: Trying more on the menu. I can say that 5 stars for sure. The service is very good. Adding more pics.
One of the best place to go in San Diego for ramen is Isshido Ramen. Amazing taste, quality and quantity of the ramen. I would suggest to try out Black carage chicken. They have around 13-15 types in ramen including vegan ramen and appetizers as well. Do give it a try.😉
While I'm going off one visit, I noticed they had tantanmen on their menu and Isshido hit the ball out of the park with it. I only know one other ramen place that serves this style and it wasn't that great. I also had their black garlic karaage. I felt it was more of a novelty as it does cost more than the normal karaage. But otherwise it was good. Will update if I go back and have different bowl of ramen, but for now, if the rest is like the tantanmen and at the price they were charging, Isshido is a great ramen stop. Update: Went for another bowl, this time had the Isshido Miso Tokontsu with wavy noodles and a side of pork gyoza. The gyoza was great, with that nice half crunchy/chewy texture on the dough. The ramen also hit all of the points solidly: the noodles were great, the broth had a good balance of savory and creaminess, the chashu was cooked well and I liked the thin slices, and the egg had a good marinade and runniness on the yolk.
Ramen was great! Ordered the Black Mayu Tonkotsu. Broth was full of flavor and had a very strong garlicky kick to it which was quite nice. Egg was cooked to perfection. The extra thick noodles were nice and chewy and complimented the broth well. Service was amazing as well. Never had to ask for my water to be refilled. This restaurant really adds great variety to the ramen scene in Mira Mesa. Will be back again! Update: Came back for more. Ordered the Isshido Truffle and it hit all the marks. Savory broth with a great truffle taste. Chashu had a nice char to it. Egg was perfectly boiled. Also looked amazing visually which is a huge plus. Very attentive service. Also tried their original tonkotsu noodles but I prefer the chewier thicker noodles. Broth 4.5/5 Noodles 4.5/5 Toppings 4.5/5 Egg 4.5/5
Isshido Ramen is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the inviting aroma of rich, slow-simmered broth set the stage for an incredible meal. I had the Isshido Miso, and it was nothing short of perfection—deep, umami-packed broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and toppings that brought everything together in harmony. My wife had the Tonkotsu Special, and it was equally outstanding—silky, flavorful broth with melt-in-your-mouth chashu that made every bite a dream. The authenticity and attention to detail in every bowl truly set Isshido Ramen apart. If you're craving real ramen, this place is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back for more!
10/10 amazing ramen. The meat is perfectly balanced with fat, and it has a slight smokey flavor. Soup's also fantastic. Ramen pricing is $15-19. For the bento box, the meat is incredibly tender, it practically melts in your mouth. Service is good, there's plenty of seating, and parking is never a problem. Couldn't ask for better.
The best ramen in San Diego by far, I always order the ishiddo truffle, instead of pork I added some tofu teriyaki with delicious mushrooms that are so juice and tasty, definitely my favorite. we also order the garlic mayu tonkotsu, earthy, hardy base with deliciously light and crispy pork, excellent service, I highly recommend this place if you are a ramen lover🍜
My go to ramen place whenever im in the mira mesa area, love the creamyness of the spicy tan tan broth with wavy noodles, it has perfect mouth feel, thick creamy broth, a perfect balance of miso/pork umami with a generous topping of tan tan meat. I usually order extra noodles and 2 extra eggs but a regular portion is recomended for regular people because i eat alot. Since im a regular here if i see anyone outside contemplating whether or not to eat here ill just recommend what i get. They have sauces on the side if you needed to add more spicy oil, vinegar or soy sauce. I like mine spicy The setting is alot more quieter then other ramen places, good to come with a friend, you feel like you can take your time eatting and conversing here.
First, I just want to say service was amazing! We came in with a large group, and I wouldn't have blamed them for being fed up with us, but the main server was super nice and took time to chat with us even so. They deserve five stars just for that! Aside from that, food was great. The karaage in particular was excellent, one of the favorites I've had. The black mayu ramen was good, nothing crazy, but for the price ($16) I can't complain. Highly recommend!
I had the special, and my favorite part is the broth! I'm pretty a fan of firm noodles and the pork cut was decent but I'd recommend going with the signature or add more to make it more filling. I liked that we got seated right away and the service is good, our waiter was very kind. The service can be improved by seeing if patrons need something, we found ourselves hoping to get eye contact in order to ask for something. I'm digging the modern atmosphere and mural in the corner. Always room for improvement, I like having competition in Mira Mesa. Update: Wonderfully consistent! They really keep their flavor top notch

Wow, the most delicious ramen I've had in SD! There's no wait time, so they serve you immediately. YILEI is super nice, sweet, and very attentive. Excellent service.
This ramen has a lot going for it. First, the ramen is delicious, including excellent veggie and vegan options. We had a vegan truffle ramen, and it was very tasty and delicious. Whereas other vegan ramen can be a little bland, not here. Then there is the very reasonable selection of other food for the whole party. Their curry was excellent with good beef base, carrots and potatoes, I had mine with katsu - a delight. And they even had french fries with ketchup, which delighted the little one. The atmosphere is very casual, more like a lunch spot, but large enough to also host a few larger groups. Don't expect fancy alcohol, or cocktails, or other drinks. Water and a selection of Western and Japanese sodas and canned or bottled teas it is. But for what it is, a causal ramen lunch spot with excellent other food options including appetizers, it's excellent.

Understaffed. One server/host rushing around. Very slow service unsurprisingly. However, the Isshido Signature was excellent. The broth was a savory, creamy flavor fiesta. The chashu melts in your mouth. An excellent bowl of ramen. I would totally recommend this place. All they need to fix is the staff issue.
Good ramen. I ordered the spicy tan tan with the egg noodles, and an extra egg. It was good overall and a reasonable portion for the price. I came in at 9pm and was reminded that they close at 9:45. It’s hard for a single person to take so long to eat so I was surprised that they mentioned it.
The food is average quality. Ramen is good. The place is very nice, bar and counter is clean and neat. Only one thing, they use one-time chopstick which cant control the quality ( as I got fungus/rotten chopstick in the seal bag).
Solid Japanese food. The stand out was the black garlic chicken. It was very tender! The dry ramen was great. The curry katsu was legit as well. Fairly priced for Japanese food as well. Service was awesome.

Food is honestly good. But they had several strikes based on my this visit, my first experience. First, I came bc of a SD restaurant week (SDRW) flyer, which said they had a special for SDRW — vegetarian green curry ramen. When we tried to order, the guy who took our order said that was from several years ago and they are under newer ownership so it’s not available anymore. Second, bc I’m gluten free, the only item they said I could have as a ramen was the vegetarian ramen w gf noodles. I said ok, but then noticed on the menu it said it had teriyaki sauce, which the guy said he’d take off since it’s added just at the end. Then the food arrives from a different person, and it has the teriyaki sauce on top. So I had to wait for them to remake the entire dish, even though I was starving. Yes, it’s the right thing to do if a mistake is made, but nobody seemed sorry about the mistake. And finally, when the bill came, we were charged $2 for gf noodles when the menu said $1. When I pointed it out the guy was surprised and when he verified against the menu (that he handed me), he just said they’d update the price since it’s the “old menu”. The food itself, again, was very good. Broth tasted delicious and complex, not too salty. I’ll say the gf noodles weren’t fully cooked in the end — some of them were stuck to each other. But overall, food was strong. I would have appreciated some acknowledgment that what they seemed to offer and what is advertised has some discrepancy. In the end, l’ll probably come again to see if this is consistent or just a one time thing. But I won’t be holding my breath.

Been coming to this place for years and always had a good experience although the servers seemed stressed (only one server for the whole place). Food is really good. The service lately has been terrible. It seems like a lot of turnover recently and the new male server is so rude!!
