When we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and a “Happy Anniversary.” The ambiance was very nice, and our server was knowledgeable and efficient. The drinks and food were very good. I had the pomatini and hubby had the Pinot noir. The beet salad was a great starter. My lamb shank fell off the bone - so good. Chef made a vegetarian dish for my husband, that was also good. Dessert (Nutella Bread pudding) was also fabulous. We walked along the river walk briefly, afterward, and it was a pretty view. Not a bad way to celebrate 20 years!
My fiance and I loved our dining experience at this restaurant. Our food was very good, with the highlight being the salad and deserts. We love the salad so much that we've gone back and ordered it to-go.
My wife brought me here on my 52nd birthday. This was our first time here. Being in downtown Detroit I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with the area as it was just down the street from Atwater brewery. There's no signage indicating that you have arrived at the rattlesnake club. However, there is a covered awning-type entrance at the bottom of a flight of stairs that has the rattlesnake club monitor on it. While climbing the stairs I noticed the handrail was serpentine in shape. At the beginning and end of each section of the handrail was a snakehead in a rattlesnake tail. At the top of the stairs to the right was a large patio covered by a pergola. You could also see string lights were out. The day we went it was raining heavily and nobody was seated outside. Plus it was early spring and cold. When we walked through the entrance doors and up to the front desk my wife told the station attendant that we were early for our 7:30 reservation. The woman said that wouldn't be a problem and looked at me and wished me a happy birthday! We were seated by the window overlooking the patio. The service was excellent! I ordered the Prime center cut New York steak which was cooked to perfection as was my wife's Filet. Dessert was presented with a caramel spun sugar pyramid! If you have the budget, treat yourself to an upscale dining experience!
Fantastic views, superb service. The parmesan crusted walleye is THE best fish I have ever eaten. While I don't care for ring shaped calamari they were seasoned well enough and crispy so as to make up for it. My wife's lamb was excellent, too. I would highly recommend this restaurant and the prices were reasonable as well.
Very roomy restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The waiters were very attentative. We enjoyed salmon, halibut, shrimp, and lamb. All dishes were great. We had lobster stuffed pierogies as an appetizer. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Very beautiful Restaurant. Food was delicious, staff so wonderful. Love the atmosphere. A place I will definitely be back to again. Also the drinks perfectly made. A part of Detroit high end Restaurants.
The Rattlesnake Club is a gem of older Detroit before new places were popping up every week. Just enough off the beaten path you need to seek it out, because you won't happen by it. The food is fabulous and the atmosphere here has a certain charm that welcomes you. I've been here several times and it always feels good to be back. Was most recently there with my wife and had the wonderful company of Brandon behind the bar. This is a place where you will find yourself just wanting to be as you enjoy your meal, surroundings and company.
Delicious food as usual at the rattlesnakes club. Experience was even more enriched by our server Marsha!! Super caring prompt courteous personable friendly!! So happy she was our server
I had the blueberry lemongrass drink. DELICIOUS. and I'm not a bread person but there was fresh rolls and these roasted sesame sticks that was great, you could actually taste the roasted seeds. I had the jerk salmon(didn't tasteThe jerk seasoning) with mango salsa and black bean corn quinoa. I added caramelized onions. (Everything taste better with onions. ) Everything was wonderful. The service was slow but not unprofessional. There was only one server(KIA) for the whole dining area so that was to be expected. She was never was rude, or irritated with my indecisiveness. Overall I was very pleased with my experience (I am super picky) and will definitely refer and partake again.
The Rattlesnake was top notch and a wonderful experience. The service was excellent and the food delicious.I ordered the Salmon with spinach and cabbage. I highly recommend this place. The service was great too. They made my Valentines Day special. Oh I almost forgot I had the bread pudding for dessert and it was delicious.
I was here for a socially-distanced courtyard wedding, followed by an indoor reception in the restaurant dining area. The circumstances were not the typical norm, but the food was outstanding and the service was excellent! My table mates indicated that they frequently order meals for carryout under the coronavirus restrictions; and noted that their carryouts were consistently excellent, as well.
Took my fiancé here for our fifth anniversary. It was our first time there but the woman who sat us knew who we were as we walked in because we were getting a table for three (we brought our one year old son.) she greeted us by telling us happy anniversary. I knew right then and there this restaurant was on their A-game. The food was delicious, the service was amazing. Our server Marsha went out of her way to provide us with an amazing experience. From top to bottom we had an experience filled with people who were anxious to give us a great night out. What more could you ask for from a restaurant? At the end of the night we even spent a few minutes being shown different wines because my fiancé enjoyed the homemade Sangria the Sommelier put together. There was a true pride in their establishment and gratefulness in us giving them our business. Honestly couldn’t have gone better. We will be back many times
The Rattlesnake Club has been a Detroit staple of quality dining for years. I recently came with a group of friends for a Birthday dinner. It was convenient that they have a nice outdoor seating patio. That was important to me and my party as we are still a bit leery of Covid-19. The food was all really good. Everyone loved their meal. I had the shrimp and grits which was good and had big shrimp that were cooked well. My friend that had the scallops remarked about how they were perfectly cooked as well. Everyone was full after dinner, but the birthday chocolate cake with raspberries was good and very rich. This is a great place to come when life is "normal" and have a meal before a concert at Chene Park or just walking up and down the scenic Riverwalk. I will definitely be back.
Attended a wedding, the gigantic piece of pork was cooked just to perfection, for such a large chunk of meat I was surprised at its juices and tender meat. As for the beef, in the same boat..fell apart
This place was lovely. Great customer service. Parking is $4 in the lot totally worth it. Great wine selection lots of art on the walls. I was here for a meeting but stayed well after.
Loved the meal loved the service loved the time here. The valley parking is really awkward though, kind of across the street and you wait in the weather for the car service.
Had a wonderful Mother's Day buffet/ brunch with family there! Loved it!
Very nice place with a piss poor location. Food and drinks are top notch. Service top notch
Food was delicious! Such a nice a elegant atmosphere. Will be back very soon!
I recently had my son's high school graduation dinner here with about 25 guests. From beginning to end everything was wonderful!! Maria was my contact person and she was amazing! The waitstaff was very attentive and made sure my entire party was well taken care of! The food and drinks were delicious!! We will definitely be back!!
This might be the most overlooked restaurant in the city. Everything we had was delicious. Excellent service. Recommend the fried oysters on French toast. Perfectly done not overcooked, oysters with a sauce you will want to lick off the plate. The salads are fresh and artfully paired. The same is true of the perch. Again.. The caper sauce!!!!!! Overall a delightful experience. We'll be back.
Very nice experience. We had a quiet table by the window. Not too crowded. Very very good atmosphere. The Rattlesnake Club is 5 star dining in a warm, casual atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, Everything is done top notch here, without that "stuffy" vibration. I felt comfortable and extremely well fed. The portions are very generous (huge). The food was honestly 5 star dining food...never had a meal like this before...my husband's lamb shank melted off the bone. We both were highly impressed. The restaurant is beautiful. Classy, elegant...this place has style and elegance with Amazing food and the service was PERFECT. We'll be back. Oh ..we parked across the street in the lot it was a weekday so things were slow. But parking is plentiful and we were very safe. Beautiful riverfront views.
Nicole was our server and she was outstanding. The restaurant was very busy and short of staff, but Nicole never missed a beat. She was professional, pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. I would definitely recommend The Rattlesnake for dining
Top Shelf. This place is sweet. Classy and classic without all the stuffiness. I sat at the bar because it was so beautiful and inviting. Good choice, because the bartender was awesome. Funny and efficient he made my classic martini perfectly. We were in time for happy hour so we got great drinks prices and appetizers deals. The apps were extremely good, darn it, now I have to come back for dinner.
Dont pass this Detroit Gem!! The service was outstanding for our table of 12. The food was beautiful and delicious. Bartender mixes a fabulous cocktail too. Spend some time here and enjoy the Rattlesnake experience.
We always tried to come her when DRW was a thing since we could always get a reservation, and he service and food is great. The service is very friendly and attentive and the food is phenomenal! I have not had something that wasn't fabulous. They also do many events and I have attended the wine and food pairing and cocktail and food pairing. All of the events are always a good time. I wish it were closer to me and a tad bit cheaper so I could go more often. They also rent space for private events with reasonable pricing.
Great food at a reasonable price. The ambiance is an experience itself. We dinned outside on the patio & ordered a variety of food. The calamari and salmon was my favorite. Most places like this don't serve nice sizing meals but they make sure you've ate enough. I was definitely recommend as a family dinner, date night or special celebration.
Four stars for ambience and service. Excellent menu but taste could be better. I liked the grilled salmon I had, It was perfectly cooked and juicy. The Balognese was not that good. It's definitely an amazing fine dining experience you can have by spending a lot ($$$$).
The food was very good, service was attentive. Great view of the Detroit River and you can walk the river walk before or after dinner
Definitely an experience! Good food, good service. A took a star off for the service charge on top of the tip.
$$$$ Great food, good atmosphere!! There is a service charge & added gratuity. Which is like charging you to have a server then deciding what you'll tip them whether the service is good or bad.🤔
First time at the rattlesnake, and we really enjoyed ourselves! Thank you Hunter for being our server!
Dinner and drinks were very good as was the service. However, the hostess was a bit prickly
For appetizers we had the artichokes and calamari. The artichokes were good, but they were mixed with green olives. The calamari was good, but kind of bland. I had the lamb chop, which was a good size and had good flavor. I tried some fo the shrimp and grits, which were flavorful. For dessert, we had the chocolate ravioli, but it wasn’t anything exciting. The cocktails were good and had decent pours. We had the rattlesnake elixir and berry drinks. Very nice staff, but the restaurant seemed kind of dead on a Friday night.
Took my mom here for her birthday dinner and it was great. Nice food, good portion sizes, decent service- but I think they were a bit understaffed last night so I cannot fault our server for that. The only thing really letting this place down is the outdated decor. Modernizing the dining area would take this restaurant from a good place to eat to a great one. They've got a lot of competition downtown now and need to step up their game!
The Rattlesnake Club is a great standby and an old favorite. Its location makes it better suited for the summer since it's one of the few restaurants close to the river and Aretha Franklin amphitheater. The food is solid, and there's a great variety, so there's something for everyone.
I had the salmon, bacon club for lunch. It was excellent! Not huge, just the right amount of food and nicely done. I enjoyed a glass of Selbach Riesling with it.. a perfect match! The wine list is very good with some German and Michigan wines that pair well with the menu.
Took the lady out for a nice romantic dinner and after reading several reviews we gave the rattlesnake club a try and it was okay to say the least. The location is pretty nice as it's right off the Detroit river. We started with the calamari and it did not have any flavor what so ever which was a huge bummer. She ordered the crab cakes and I ordered the duck and both dishes were very good, the presentation of these dishes also blew us away (for you IG people out there). It definitely is pricey so be prepared to spend some $$. You are paying more so for the experience at rattlesnake than the food. Nice lil spot though.
Went here during restaurant week, so there was a limited menu. Ordered the rock shrimp calamari appetizer, which had too much lemon flavor and not enough sauce. The prime rib had too much fat left on it and not enough seasoning.
Service was good but the food was hit or miss. We ordered many appetizers and some nice wine. The Brussel sprouts were not good at all, my wife didn’t enjoy her fish, but my steak was perfectly cooked and delicious.
I don't understand how this place has such high reviews. Everything about the experience was supremely average. The decor seems dated and not entirely attractive. The wait staff was fine, but not particularly great or informative. The steaks were a bit on the dry side and aren't nearly the quality of some of the other spots around downtown. The sides were average. Again, it was fine, but if you're going to drop a decent amount of money there are much better places to do so.
The atmosphere was nice. The staff was also pleasant. It was not what I would have expected from a restaurant that has such good reviews though. The wait staff was slow. The orders for our table completely missed the timing mark as none of the plates came out together, one was given to another table, one was severely overcooked and one was undercooked, the promised dessert for the meal that was given away never came to fruition, they forgot to bring out an appetizer...I am sure this place has earned their high and glowing reviews but they also earned this one. Not sure I will decide to ever go back but I can check it off my list of 'Detroit Must-do's'. Just wish we got the experience like others who rave about the place...
Club was nice, service was great. We were there for a wedding which was beautiful! The appetizers we're wonderful! How ever the salmon I ordered for dinner was under cooked, the pot roast my husband had was great. We had a great time!
Great view! Chairs were not comfortable, padding and support worn down. Food was good, service was good, a nice enough experience but for the $ would rather explore elsewhere in the future. Very cool railing on the stairs- welded rattlesnakes!
I am disappointed.... I didn't give 1 star because it wasn't a complete disaster but this was my birthday dinner with a party of 13! Things went left. Our waitress Marsha* was curt and rude. Not as attentive as I would have liked. Our bill was over $1,250! I expect exemplary service at a restaurant of this prestige. As I mentioned attentiveness, hospitality and professionalism were out the door. The party was not set up for the correct amount of people. Our orders were incorrect in addition to her complaints about her being reprimanded for the issues falling on our ears were improper. Maria the manager, was pleasant and nice. She always called me back and was very honest and open. I compliment her on her service. But she was MIA during this dining experience except for the incorrect table setting. In these times I understand being short staffed, having limited menus and things being challenging for your restaurant. But I expected 5 star service and did not receive that ... especially on my day!
The scenery and ambiance were nice. Great location right on the river. We went here for a date night (which rarely happens so it was a special occasion for us). The shrimp appetizer was good, but nothing amazing. We each ordered a steak (two different kinds) and a side. We were satisfied, but for the money and the reputation, it didn't live up to our expectations. The desserts were great - probably the highlight of our meal. Overall, I'd rather go to another restaurant for the money I paid. Food was bland. Service was ok - the wait staff that helped with water, and bread and things were amazing. Our general waitress was very obviously preoccupied and scattered. The worst part was my husband got extremely sick that night with what we can only assume was food poisoning. It lasted about 24 hours, but happened to be on Easter so our holiday plans were out-the-window. We're thinking it might have been his steak since that was the only thing we didn't share, unless he got a bad shrimp in the appetizer. Who knows... I don't think we'll be going back. I would recommend if you do want to go, sit on the patio and just order dessert, so you get the experience without dropping a ton of dough!
Let me start by saving the outside space at this venue is absolutely awesome. The brick courtyard is beautiful and secluded, and the club is on a great stretch of the river. The food however, leaves much to be desired. The appetizers outside were good during the wedding we attended, but the food itself was lackluster and very average. For what felt like an upscale attempt, the steak had a charcoal flavor, and the salmon was almost devoid of seasoning. A real shame, but it made it an easy decision on whether to have an event here in the future.
I've been meaning to post this review for quite a while now but am just getting around to it now. I went here for a birthday dinner in late January after having been here many other times. I've always viewed it as a good but not great place that is overpriced due to being right on the river. My past visit however, was not a good experience. The waiter had no knowledge about the beers listed on the menu whatsoever, and made recommendations that were absolutely outrageous to anyone with an elementary understanding of beer. He also was very rude about how someone I was with ordered their tuna steak. Instead of professionally making a suggestion that they maybe get it a little bit less done than initially requested, he made a snide comment about it that made me want to get up and leave the restaurant. He was just incredibly arrogant and there was no reason for it. There are plenty of places that offer the same kind of food around Metro Detroit. I will not be back.
The atmosphere was very simple for a fine dining restaurant, but it was clean and well lit. The staff was very friendly. They greeted us promptly and were very attentive to our needs. The experience was going fairly well until we received our food. We did not like a single thing that we ordered. The food was very bland. The presentation of the food was nice but there was no seasoning in the food. I couldn't force down more than a sample of each item. Even though we didn't like the food, I was prepared to pay for it and accept the loss. To my surprise, the waitress saw how much we did not enjoy our experience and didn't charge us for the main course. We paid for our drinks and appetizers. I think the food could be exceptional in this place if it was properly seasoned. I can not compliment the staff enough for being exceptionally friendly, professional, and attentive.
The experience started off nice as they moved us to a private room due to us having one too many people in our party. It was all down hill from there! The only highlight was decent food. Service was terrible for a fine dining establishment, drinks were very disappointing, atmosphere was also not good, no mood music just a private room that started to feel like a conference room. Overall for the cost of drinks and food this place is in no shape or form worth it.
