because there's Mexican restaurants that are not that great in Michigan and then there's Mexican restaurants that are traditional style in Michigan which are buried and that most non Hispanic people or other nationalities other than Mexican just don't go to. Unfortunately they're missing out because the place like this is absolutely dope! So if you want some hardcore salad Mexican food and you've been looking around Michigan and you're frustrated or you're used to eating that garbage place in your local town that all the local hillbillies go to and think is amazing even though it's pure garbage, go to this place and check it out because this is what Mexican food is supposed to be like.

It was highly recommended by locals, the prepare "Pollo a las brasas" which is basically marinated chicken on the grill, it is usually a house recipe. They make house made tortillas which is definitely a big plus. "Really good Mexican tasting chicken !!!

The grill outside let's you know you're in for some great food. The pollo al carbon is fantastic. Their selection of tacos have yet to disappoint, and service is wonderful.

Been coming in for years! They do have a high turnout of servers but still have great service. Yesterday, when we were there, there was a patron that was sitting down at the little bar they have inside...he was drinking and being loud. Very uncomfortable. Food was excellent as usual. Some of the best most authentic Mexican food you can get in Detroit. Make sure to get the tacos hecho a mano because they really make some fresh ones. I love the pollo al carbon and tacos de parilla. Food is great. Pretty much all of their selection. However, their torta - or Mexican burger - is just plain delicious. Had the chicken fajitas and my wife had the chicken enchiladas. Added the torta as a side, but it was better. Great service, as well. The girls were very helpful. Will definitely return.

Great food. Pretty authentic. There is a lady at the front of the kitchen grilling handmade tortillas. They charcoal grill chicken everyday and it smells amazing. I've been dining here for years and never had a single bad dish. Service is sometimes slow at times but the food is totally worth it. You can also do carryout if you're in a rush.

We really enjoyed our time. The staff were very professional and attentive. Everyone was very nice and had great vibes. We didn’t get many photos of the food but everything turned out great. And the drinks were amazing.

This restaurant has an authentic feel with most of the staff speaking spanish and entertainment like Flamenco and Mariachi. The food is amazing, is reasonably priced and comes from the kitchen quickly. The service is quick and it provides a great opportunity to practice my Spanish. The chips and salsa here are great. Some restaurants give you a little bit of chips and salsa but this place gives you an entire bottle of fresh salsa with your chips. I am amazed that I can leave my house, drive to this restaurant, order/consume my food and be home in 30 minutes. I can't prepare a meal that quickly at home.

This was a great surprise! Great choice of tacos! Favorite were the carne asada tacos and the carne asada quesadillas. If you like a margarita, the Don Julio margarita was dangerously smooth!

The food was excellent. The downside is that there were no prices on the menu and it was loud. Prices turned out to be average for the type of restaurant and they gave a discount for cash.

No prices on the menu. Friendly waitress had a half dozen stock English phrases, but she was cute and that goes a ways for an old man. She needed help from the one English speaking waitress when I asked about desserts. Restaurant was empty after three booths of couples left but after a few check-ins I had to find her for dessert and then for the bill. To get a booth we went in a second room where a massive, loud TV had a talk show on, in Spanish, so we could ignore it. Chips were fine but had to unscrew the cap on the mild salsa and pour into the bowl to get it out of the squeeze bottle. On the plus side they had a mild and a hot. Chips included little radish and cucumber slices - nice touch. Grilled catfish, unusual to see on a menu, was tasty. Beans and rice were typical. My wife had a small chicken quesadilla which she liked. I had a glass of Sangria, tasty, lower alcohol, and my wife had a diet Coke. Two desserts available, rice pudding and vanilla cake. We shared a piece of cake and it was creamy and delicious. So, one meal, one a la carte item, one alcohol drink, one can of pop, one dessert: $34. They surcharge 4% for credit. Being from south Texas I had to see what Detroit had to offer for Mexican food and I found this little joint. I got the Pollo al Carbon (Chicken) with rice and beans. The seasoning on the chicken was a little to salty for my taste but still very good and delicious. Meat was falling off the bones. Authentic Mexican food and super affordable highly recommend it.

Great time, had tacos with beef. Pretty good! They had a variety of food and drinks. Definitely one of those places that is a whole in the wall. It’s located right in Mexican town and it’s definitely authentic Mexican good. Went with friends and it was a great time. Live music and karaoke as well. Definitely a experience to remember!

Excellent restaurant, the only con is their menu on site, doesn't show prices. As of low fat options, next time I will ask them to serve me tacos but without wetting the tortillas with oil. That step isn't worth the calories.

The food is alright & they have a variety of drinks. The wait here is always very short because there is always one of the waitresses ready to help. Grilled chicken is one of their feature items, one I do recommend. The place has a very "rancho" feel because of the usic playing in the background and also the decor.

The young lady who took our order behind the register was on her phone the whole time. We ordered 2 horchatas and after handling money no hand washing she takes a cup to dip it in to get the horchata out to pour it into another cup. Used to be one of my favorite places until I seen that yesterday I'm straight.

I ordered an aguachile, I understand that you may have to be a real Mexican to get to know how aguachiles are, but sorry this is NOT an aguachile. Aguachile does not include lettuce. The owners should make a trip to Mazatlan Sinaloa to really learn how to do aguachile. Everything else I have eaten here is fine.

Today, I ate there and I ordered the taco lunch which in the menu states 4.50 The waitress ask corn or flour I stated flour, so no problem got my food and also bought 1 to go and when I got my bill I was charged 6.50 so I ask why she says u got flour tortillas. So I said it doesnt say in the menu extra for flour so I said u charged me 1.00 for each taco cause the lunch u get 2 tacos rice and beans and she says yes. So I paid, not arguing over the high price for ordering flour and when I got home the dam take out had corn tortillas so she charged me 6.50 instead of 4.50 which they need to get it right fix their menus and hire waitresses who know how to check the order before giving to the customer. Also, learn a bit more English.

Over-priced food and bad service. Ordered a "chicken dinner" for take out. (I specifically asked for a bbq chicken dinner). Got there and they had no dinner ready for me..in fact whoever took my call didn't even put in my order. The women were rude and didnt even apologize for making me wait. I get home and its not evem a chicken dinner..it was disgusting balled up chicken pieces that normally you'd see in tacos. Came with a TINY amount of rice and beans. I'll never go there again. Unfortunately I really didn't like this restaurant!!! The menu had over 50 it on it but no prices 😵. So my sister and I ordered the chicken fajitas. It was barely chicken in the dish it was overwhelmed with onions onions onions and some green peppers 😞. I really don't think she could understand English or speak so our communication was off. The food was just ok! I wish I had the silverware I asked for twice and never received from the Nice unexperienced waitress who cleaned our nasty table and raggedy wobble booth upon our request.. The Drinks were NOT Good at all, I don't believe we had any alcohol in our margaritas & had to order additional Shots just for taste... the server was again nice and pleasant AFTER she over charged my credit card and stated that there was a 4% charge to use CC ((which is illegal in the state of Michigan)). I immediately made her aware of the law to educate her management... on a scale 1- 10, 10 being I would absolutely be back even for a free meal .. I'll give it a Strong 1.5 maybe even a 2..

I wanted to try to go back being I heard good things aboit this place I myself did not like it. The beans have too much lard. The meat is too chard. Service was very rude. I had an order and my order was done after the person who ordered after me. This happened about 3 times. Never again.

My friends and I were at an event down the street so we decided to try this place out. From the moment we walked in the chefs were staring us down and the cashier had a nasty attitude. We were told that they were closed so I asked what time they closed. The cashier stumbles a bit and then says 11pm. It was 10:30pm. People were still sitting in the restaurant and people came in to place orders after us with no problem. I explain that we just wanted to order a few tacos to-go and should be able to place an order 30 minutes before closing. Finally she says she'll take the order; however, we had to combine our orders because you "must spend at least $10 to use your credit card". Overall, a very poor experience and the food was not worth the struggle of getting it. We will not be returning.

I called to make an order of 4 pollo asado and was on hold after I tried to make an order as she said she needed to check to see if there was chicken for my order. Never received a response and was just on hold while she was helping other customers that were there at the restaurant. If you take a call finish with that customer and their order and not leave them on hold.

The cashier is handling money and packing food without washing her hands. The Food And The Chefs Are Good! But the wait staff is lousy; the worst I've ever seen. There aren't any prices on the Menu. The waitress does not speak English and doesn't know the price of any item. She had to go back and forth about food items with the kitchen staff. My dine and to go orders were wrong and a different price than what I was told. Also the chips are not fresh, but kept in a warmer for days at a time in large batches. In addition to that the salsa was spoiled and in squeeze bottles.

DON’T COME HERE! They don’t warn you about anything and will charge you $20+ in “party” fees if you come with 5 people (They lied and said 5 or more but still charged us). The service is terrible and they will intentionally look for any add ons to charge you. You can’t even enjoy your food in peace without getting ripped off. I HIGHLY suggest you go to a different Mexican restaurant if you want to save your money. The food quality isn’t even the best either. If you still wanna come here don’t pay with cash because at least you’ll be able to dispute your charges with your bank instead. (They charge extra for card that’s how they get you with the scam)

That Araceli woman has no business dealing with the public. I called to tell her the ceviche they served was flavorless, nasty and the presentation is just not appetizing at all. She started arguing over the phone saying she’s the one in charge and I wouldn’t get a refund despite me telling her I could bring the food back because I’m not eating this, I only asked for a refund for the ceviche nothing else. I’m not paying over $20 for this. I asked for a manager and she continued yelling and saying she was the one in charge and the manager “doesn’t have a schedule. He comes whenever he wants to”. Is this really a way to run a business ? I’ve been a customer for a while now and the service this lady just gave me made me never want to come again. I sure expect the manager to give me a call back to fix this otherwise I will be calling my card to get a full refund for the whole order. Management, Araceli is costing you customers.

We’ve been coming here for a while, great food up until we got served a complimentary chewed gum with our chips. Our waitress didn’t even offer an apology, just took it as if it were a normal occurrence. Manager offered nothing but an apology through another waitress. I loved this place, sadly won’t be coming back. Also, they said that it could’ve been because it might have been chips taken from another table, take that as you will.
