Very nice and authentic Chinese restaurant, mainly serving Southern Chinese cuisine. Highly recommend their Nanjing duck — very delicious, not salty at all, with a subtle aroma of Chinese herbs (just a hint, very well balanced). Definitely a dish worth ordering.

Staff was so kind and explained the menu. The food was DELICIOUS! We got the Vegetarian Spring rolls to start. Best I’ve ever had. We got orange chicken, super good, but the oysters stole the show. Super great food.

Was brought here for dinner by a friend telling me this restaurant serves some of the best Chinese food in Dublin and he wasn’t wrong. The steamed SeaBass was the star of the meal. It’s more expensive than most Chinese restaurants I’ve been to but absolutely worth it.

I've eaten a lot of Chinese food over the years, even directly in China. The food here was 1st rate! I can't express how good the food is here. I had the Irish beef which fused fantastic ingredients with 1st rate cookery skills. The chef here is a wonder, the food is amazing (I'd class it as the best Chinese I've EVER had) front of house were also brilliant, attentive and helpful with great suggestions. If you're in Dublin and you want a Chinese this is THE place to go. Loved every mouthful... Oh, nearly forgot the amazing dumplings! Shows how good they are if I could forget these wonderful parcels of deliciousness. I can only leave you with how I'm feeling thinking about it and it can only be summed up by Homer thinking of a donut.

To be honest I never expected this restaurant would be so wonderful. But I was really impressed and surprised that it is not only the elegant design and deco but also the authentic traditional Chinese dinsum really amazing. I love the decoration the environment was so elegant and comfortable, and the food were stunning never imagine I can have such nice dishes in Ireland. Plus the background music is really really nice, the owner has a very high end taste it was the most comfortable background music I have been experience although I am not a fan of jazz or bossanova at all. But I love that. Last but not least, the service was great, the boy with brand belt was serving a great meal to us.

I had an amazing dining experience at this Chinese restaurant. The food was incredibly authentic and flavorful, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The service was impeccable; the staff were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect place for both casual meals and special occasions. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a true taste of China!

If you want to try the real Chinese haute cuisine, Nan Chinese restaurant will be the place you definitely need to visit. Simple ingredients are prepared and cooked in delicate process. And the staffs are very friendly and warm. We booked the private room for my family in advance and all of them are enjoying the dishes. It is also surprised that there are so many top traditional Chinese teas to choose and it is so attractive for the tea lovers. Even if the price are higher compared to other Chinese restaurant. But it is valuable for us to try the high class Chinese dishes in elegant environment in Dublin. We will definitely come back.

🍲 It's the easiest 5 stars I've given in a long time. With a group of 8, we indulged in a variety of platters, and everything was simply amazing. Each dish was packed with flavor and executed to perfection. 🏠 The private room we had for our group added a touch of exclusivity to our dining experience. It was amazing to have our own space to enjoy the meal and each other's company! 👏 The staff at Nan Chinese Restaurant went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable dining experience. They provided excellent recommendations, were attentive to our needs, and made us feel truly valued as guests. 💰 Despite the high-quality food, ambiance, and service, the price was reasonable. At 35€ each for such an incredible dining experience, it was well worth every penny. ✨Nan Chinese Restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Can’t wait to come back very soon!!

We have eaten here a couple of times now and Nan is a great addition to Dublin. Some great regional Chinese food on the menu. Each time we have been here, it has been very busy, and service has always been spot on and friendly.

Amazing authentic Chinese food delivered in an elegant minimalist environment with smooth jazz in the back. An absolute winner. My partner said the pork belly changed his life 😂

I had no idea this place existed until today, and it absolutely exceeded expectations! We especially enjoyed the braised pork belly and the egg fried rice. The atmosphere was perfect for a brunch spot, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice, overall pretty dimly lit but it provides ambiance. Fairly empty on a Thursday evening, but unsure if that is just the time or anything to do with the restaurant. Decor is nice, lots of articles about the success of the restaurant. Dishes were very authentic for the most part, and the service was phenomenal. Great restaurant for a date night or family night out. I tried the pork soup xiao long bao, the shrimp and port siu mai, and the new desert chocolate buns. The soup dumplings definitely lived up to the hype, and despite the prices being high, the ingredient quality is great. Siu Mai was a bit lackluster compared to the dumplings, but still good. I was afraid the chocolate buns would be too rich, however the bao balances the chocolate filling nicely, would recommend.

This meal, was the best authentic cuisine, that we have been served in very many years. The service was attentive and prompt. This restaurant will be at the top of my list for my next trip. I have included the menu for reference.

We just happened to walk by and decided to give this place a try. The food and service were both good. The salted egg prawns, seafood tofu casserole and black pepper beef were very tasty. They offer some dim sum items which we didn’t get to try. If you are in the area, this is a good Chinese option. Sorry about the bad pictures, we started eating before I could take the pictures 😆

The only thing I needed for this evening to be perfect, was someone to share with.. .. 😁 I ordered way too much food because everything on the menu sounds so good.. And I was not dissapointed everything tasted great. What I ordered would fit two normal dining people. And it ran me 125€ an absolute steal.. The service is top notch and everyone there are so nice. Go there, bring a friend.

We ate here the other day, it is the most delicious and most authentic Chinese food we have had in Dublin. The staff was very friendly, they refilled our tea and water and checked in on us regularly. The ambiance was really nice as well! Would highly recommend the salted duck and beef with black bean sauce. Will definitely come back again!

I was recommended to try here and I wasn't disappointed the food was amazing and the waitress serving us (Eileen I think) was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back and hope I got her name correct.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Dublin! 😋 Literally want to try everything on the menu. And I’d say this is the best place for those who never had authentic Chinese before. The cuisine style is from east of China which mostly retain the original taste of ingredients. No strong seasonings or too heavy. So it’s definitely not spicy lol, very different from most of the Chinese restaurants here (spicy sichuan style). I also love spicy food btw ;) Besides, this is a kinda new restaurant. I like the style of decoration and interior. Bright and comfortable environment. Staffs are super nice as well. Everything definitely made the dining experience superior.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. It was our waitresses first day and she was brilliant and so sweet. Would so recommend.

Had lunch here today. My companion's sweet and sour chicken was perfectly good, but not a patch on my steamed beef tripe which was tender and tasty. But the stand out dish was my pork congee which was blisteringly hot, huge and very morish.

Best spot for dumplings and Chinese dishes in Dublin so far🥟🥬 I highly recommend prawn and pork siu mai, congee and ha kao.

Nice restaurant friendly staff little expensive but ambience is good 😀. They also have a lunch menu at 14 euro where you get one main dish quantity is small with rice 🍚. Nice location and delicious food 😋

Soup dumplings were a 10. Hyper recommend the green beans with pork, gorgeous. Service was extremely attentive and kind.

Xiao long bao, char siu buns and Yangzhou fried rice - all standouts. I plan to go back and try a more dim sum style experience as the other small plates that we could see being ordered looked great. Service was very attentive, pleasant and professional.

Very good dim sum. The pork belly in Chinese brown sauce was delicious. The pork cheung fun was very good.

Ate here last night. Menu was not typical Chinese, some different dishes. Had prawn and pork dumplings, chicken and sticky rice to start. Delicious, some of the best we’ve had. Shared pork belly in brown sauce (so tasty ) and kung po chicken. Both really good. South African Chenin blanc was perfect. As we were sharing our mains would have appreciated small bowls to eat out of rather than the small plates we had. Would return and recommend to friends.

Very good Chinese restaurant. Limited menu but executed well - tried their chili wontons, kung pao chicken, stirfry pot green beans, and noodles. Everything hit the spot. Service is warm & quick. The mints they serve towards the end are great too.

Staff are lovely and the restaurant is very chic but relaxed. Love extensive and interesting menu, they serve actual Chinese dishes and not just the typcial stodgy takeaway stuff that people are so used to. Love the pickled mustard and szechuan seabass. All of the dumplings are stunning. We even tried a dish with offal (intestines and tripe) and it was super fresh and not gamey at all.

Four of us went there for dinner. It was a Thursday evening. It was a truly delightful experience. The waitress was welcoming, clarified any doubts we had in relation to the menu, explained dishes, talked about the ingredients,... And all that with kindness, patience and a smile. We all agreed that the food not only looked amazing (beautifully presented), it was delicious!!! Lately, I have experienced that, although some restaurants may have nice food, you barely get to enjoy it or enjoy the company of the person you're with. Once you sit down, the clock starts ticking and when time is over you're presented with the bill. Wine is overpriced and often served incorrectly (too warm or filling the glasses too fast in order to get you to buy another bottle). Thankfully, none of that happened here!!! I enjoyed being out with my friends, trying delicious dishes new to us. Having a relaxed dinner and catching up without being interrupted or rushed out. I will certainly go back and I'd recommend it for the quality of the food and the service!

Went there last week and had the seabass, which was so spicy. That’s on me - I didn’t ask before ordering, and the English menu wasn’t very detailed. The deep-fried prawns were really nice, just a bit greasy but still delicious. My favorite part of the meal was the prawn dumplings, definitely the highlight of the dinner. I didn’t enjoy the fish because of the spicy sauce, and I think it would have been better with some garnish or a side included in the price.

Takeout from Nan. A delightful experience all around. The dumplings were flavorful, juicy and the wrapper was thin. The pork was tasty and the soup was very very good. The broth was packed with flavor, umami and spam like all good things should be. The staff was very kind and helpful and it is an overall recommendable experience, most definitely will return.

Quite decent Chinese food, which has a great variety for food from Cantonese to Shanghainese. Price is not too expensive in Dublin standard, and environment is quite nice.

Saw this restaurant while I was in the city center. I was intrigued so have it a go and I must say I did have a good experience. I loved the vegetable spring roll here it was stuffed with spinach and other veggies and garlic . This was followed by the sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice. I liked the chicken it was crispy and the sauce had a good balance , the egg fried rice perfectly paired this. The veg stir fry had glass noodles and egg and spinach this was something different but tasted quite good. The staff here knows their food and we’re absolutely courteous had a great time guys. Thank you team NAN for this delightful experience.

The dim sum is excellent and I highly recommend it, the more common Chinese dishes like fried rice and sweet and sour chicken were not that good.

E

Nan is a nice place for Chinese cuisines, especially non-spicy ones. To be honest, it is a bit pricey for regular dishes, but worth a try. We like the dim sum, they are tasty.

Been here a couple times now, most recently on a busy Friday night. We made a reservation which was key as many people were getting turned away. It’s a small space that gets quite busy. Luckily we got a larger table which is ideal for ordering a variety of Dim Sum. The wait staff are all very friendly but seemed a little overwhelmed so we had some longer wait times. We opted for a fried rice dish to share and different dim sum, no main dish. The flavours are relatively mild, with some of the buns even being somewhat sweet. I would’ve liked a bit more spice but I think the regional cuisine they specialise in isn’t known for that. Overall it was pretty good food and we experienced some new flavours, but none of them particularly blew me away. Our favourites were probably the pork kimchi dumplings and the char siu buns.

Delicious and authentic Chinese. Really nice decor, more fine dining than your usual Asian restaurant. Was empty for lunch service at 1pm on a Saturday but that's probably because it only opened recently. Service very friendly but they did forget our starters and kindly made up for it with a complimentary glass of wine. Chicken dumplings very fresh and tasty. Also had the kung pao prawns and black pepper beef. The Kung pao was very similar to sweet and sour sauce, so much so that we actually asked if they had made a mistake but they said that's how it's meant to be so I'll take their word for it. The prawns were crispy and really fresh. Loved the sauce. The beef fillet was so tender and the sauce was so moreish. Fried noodles on the side were average, could have had a better flavor and texture. Asked for the coconut and mocha cheesecake for dessert but they gave us Belgian chocolate by mistake and we ate it anyway as it was delicious. Will definitely return.

Jiangnan is southeast China where the food is sweet and light, probably not to everyone’s taste, so the restaurant added southwest spicy food to the menu too. I can see the restaurant tried the best to balance authentic and taste and environment…. But the service is annoying, first, they were not sure of the reservation, confirmed twice. Then, one waitress took too long to explain the menu to the next table, its warm reception to the next table but disturbing behaviour for our table, considering how narrow the space is between tables. And the third there’s no space for winter coat and waiter is on the opposite side of helping he made us hold our coats. Overall, It’s pricy and bad unpleasant service. I came again this year, the annoying waiter and waitress are gone, therefore raising score from 2 to 4. May those bad services never happen again.

Dim sum was very good and reasonably priced. Two of us had six dishes and it came to less than 40e. Interior is small/medium and lovely. It was busy when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. The only downside was that it seemed to be understaffed (or either the staff were inexperienced). We waited a long time to get the menu, to order, to receive the food, to grab their attention to ask for more water, to get the bill & to pay the bill. Lots of waiting. It would be a 5 star review if they had a swifter service because their food is class.

YZ fried rice is a bit too oily. Dimsum wraps for the harkaw, xiaolongbao, and pork prawn dumplings were all a bit too doughy and thick. Service excellent though, big smiles and quick refills.

Authentic chinese restaurant located in the center of Dublin. All the dishes we ordered were amazing. The Crispy Sweet & Sour Chicken was our favorite!!

A
Anna K

The restaurant has a very sophisticated interior, especially for a Chinese restaurant in Dublin. I was initially worried that the pork belly might be too greasy, but it was delicious and not too heavy at all. The garlic vegetable dish paired well with the pork. However, the rice was a bit dry. We also ordered the popular Xiao Long Bao. While the dumpling shell was a bit thick, it was still good overall.

W
Weronika Kowalczyk

The dishes that I chose were not that good. The prawn dumplings were not completely steamed inside, they were half raw. Prawn and pork dumplings were better but still not very tasty. Chicken was much better than dumplings but still it was too greasy for me personally. I have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants so I feel like it is not a good Chinese restaurant.

W

This restaurant has a lovely relaxed vibe with very good staff. The food is ok, portions sizes are medium to small with an excessive amount of onions to bulk up the dishes.

C
Carlo Pisapia

The restaurant is great, with cosy seating and a nice ambience. even if they are too near to one another to allow movement. Excellent meal. As an appetiser, we sampled a few varieties of dimplings and like how they were presented in wooden pans. We sampled several sour chicken dishes and sea bass as our main course. all of the great things. The service is a major source of dissatisfaction and lowers the restaurant's rating. Nobody greeted us at the door, we waited for about an hour between the starter and the main server, no one came to clean the table or inquire if we needed anything further. Before being cleaned, the dining room tables were unclean for a very long period. I would recommend it but only to extremely patient people!

C
Caoimhe

Not great vegetarian options. There was an item on the menu described as "broccoli" for €14 so I expected it to be a main course dish. What arrived was literally just a plate of plain stir fried broccoli with NOTHING else......for €14! It probably cost them less than €1 to make so that is an insane mark up. The other dishes were priced much more reasonably at €6 - €9 so I've no idea where they got the price of €14 for the broccoli. My husband enjoyed his meal so it's definitely better for meat eaters. Also, they don't have any high chairs for babies.

L
Lidiya Zhang

food was mediocre, value was terrible for what we paid. the prawn dish in the picture was especially bad. service was below average. taiwanese lady with a fringe and mid-short length, slight bleached hair had an awful attitude. if i were to be more descriptive she had 3 moles on her face. made us feel bad for eating there. shame that she was spreading bad energy so early on in the new year. i came with my family of 5. we are not coming back.

On the recommendation of our hotel, we decided to try out the restaurant on my birthday. The service was excellent, as was the advice. Unfortunately, however, the food ruined my birthday and our last day of holiday, as I ended up with food poisoning. Shortly after eating, I noticed that I was feeling extremely unwell and I got severe stomach pains. ‼️ I spent the rest of the evening in the toilet, sweating, cramping and feeling constantly nauseous! The next day, I still felt extremely nauseous, and whenever I tried to eat something, I almost threw up. So I spent the day drinking peppermint tea occasionally and – instead of visiting museums and exploring pubs – spending a looooot of time in bed. I'm very sorry to have to give such a bad review, but I wish I could have spent my birthday differently :(
