Opinions de SOLE Seafood & Grill Dublin 2
We had the most amazing evening at SOLE Seafood & Grill in Dublin. From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcomed — the staff were warm, attentive, and really made the experience special without ever being over the top. The food was just incredible. We started with oysters — so fresh and full of flavor — and the oyster tempura, which was crispy, light, and absolutely delicious. The prawn cocktail was perfect, a classic done right, and the mussels were plump and cooked in a broth we couldn’t get enough of. The seafood chowder was rich, creamy, and comforting — honestly one of the best we’ve had. And the highlight of the night? The Sole Meunière. Cooked to perfection, buttery, delicate, and absolutely bursting with flavor. Every bite was a treat. The whole evening felt like such a celebration of fresh Irish seafood. The food, the atmosphere, the service — everything came together perfectly. If you love seafood (or even if you just want to try some of the best Dublin has to offer), do yourself a favor and book a table here. We can’t recommend SOLE enough!
I am delighted we gave Sole another chance. We originally came here in October for a special birthday meal and we had a very disappointing experience. The service was very poor and we were both ill with food poisoning after the meal. We advised Sole of this and they were most apologetic, followed due process to check their seafood with suppliers, and invited us back for another meal. Over the weekend we tried Sole again, and the experience was incredible. They made us feel special from start to finish, we were seated in a lovely small room and greeted with champagne! My mum and I were very impressed with the selection of dishes on the Christmas set menu - seemed like there was something for everyone… even if you didn’t like finish. Unfortunately I didn’t catch the name of the young man serving us but he could not have been more attentive and his level of service was possibly the highlight of the whole evening. The star of the show was our main courses; both the sea bass and monkfish were cooked to perfection. Thank you to all the team at Sole for a gorgeous Sunday evening!
My experience at this restaurant was outstanding. From the moment we entered this place, we could feel that the service treated us at the highest level. The Christmas dinner menu has a lot of options to choose from, so everyone can find something for themselves. All the dishes we chose were delicious, and the staff made sure we felt taken care of the entire time. I will definitely visit this restaurant again
Great restaurant. Classy place nice layout and the food was incredible. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Diverse menus and everything that came out of the kitchen was beautiful on the table. Our server was not the best but the manager was able to make us feel like they cared and were treated well by everyone.
My boyfriend and I went for a date to the SOLE. The experience was amazing. Food was so delicious with huge portions. The service was one of the best I have ever experienced in my life, and for the record I do go very often to top or Michelin starred restaurants. We will definitely return next time I am in town.
Cannot say enough good things about our experience at SOLE! The online booking process was easy and the team was very accommodating as we were a bit late due to the weather. We shared the mussels, which everyone enjoyed, and they were well balanced between fresh and flavorful. The scallops were incredible and I will definitely get them next time I'm there! My partner who prefers steak over fish thought the steak was cooked to perfection. The Guinness cake was also great and wasn’t too heavy! Wallie was an amazing server and provided strong attention to detail throughout our time there!
The best meal I have had in a long time. I got the early bird special, three course menu and chose mussels, roasted monk fish, and Guinness cake. For the quality and portion sizes, it was very reasonably priced. Service was efficient and kind. Highly recommend for fresh, local Irish seafood.
The food was really nice and all the seafood was fresh. Highly recommend if you’re looking for high end seafood spot. Highly recommend oyster tempura and seafood chowder !!! Many places make the chowder all about the soup, but here, it’s the seafood that truly takes center stage. We love it so much !!! Service was great as well, the staff were very friendly and kind to help us to make the main to 2*half portion while we told them we gonna share the main. However, food serving was a bit slow, it took 2h for 4 starters, 1 main course and a dessert, the waiting time was so long, it feels like we weren’t under served, this is sth need to be improved. Overall, the food was delicious, service was a bit lack but acceptable. Will COME BACK again !!!
We had an outstanding meal here. From the moment we arrived we were treated to exceptional service, phenomenal food and a wonderful experience. Shout out to Erika, Pilar, Benoit and Pablo (Pedro?) who looked after us so well druing the evening. The menu is extensive and everything we ordered was outstanding from the mussels, crab claws, and scallop starters to the sole and sea bass mains. The desserts were also excellent. We were not rushed at all given how busy the place was. A wonderful experience! Thanks to everyone!
What a lovely experience I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anybody who is a fish lover They have pretty much any type of seafood and they also have steak for the non-fish lovers I apply to get the fish, so I ended up with the monkfish as I’ve had haddock the day before I don’t eat chorizo, so I asked for it without the meat and this was an incredible dish My friend had the seafood linguine to be honest that was my favourite. I wish I had ordered that. I also had the pistachio desert cocktail and that was absolutely incredible. I would definitely recommend it to any pistachio lovers and cocktail lovers. I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant
Well, we honestly didn’t expect this kind of experience when we walked in. The place is very fancy, but even though we were dressed super casually, we felt welcome right away. The staff were really friendly and easygoing, which made a big difference. The food was amazing. The carpaccio is one of the best I’ve had, the scallops and crab claws were super fresh, and the seafood overall was excellent. The steak was an absolute masterpiece. Really top-notch restaurant with great vibes and incredible food. Would definitely recommend, and big thanks to the team for making us feel so comfortable.
A five-star experience from the moment we walked through the doors. We were lucky enough to visit on a Sunday afternoon when the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The décor is lovely, giving the space a cosy yet chic vibe. Our waitstaff, Andrea, struck the perfect balance of being attentive without being obtrusive. The food was divine—some of the best shellfish and fish we’ve eaten in Dublin. Thank you, Team Sole. We’ll be back.
Delicious meal this evening at Sole. Started with the delicate crab claws, then we shared the sea bass and sole meunière which was expertly deboned tableside for us. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Add to that the elegant interior and professional service, we had a wonderful evening. The menu is pricey, €60 for the sole, but we shared it between two and the taste was worth the price if you’re looking for a special occasion treat.
A very unique and genuinely pleasant place. The fish was incredibly fresh and full of flavour! I truly enjoyed the salmon, the depth of taste was impressive. The oysters were as fresh as they come. The waiter forgot to bring the sauce for the oysters, but after trying one, I realised it wasn’t needed at all. The quality spoke for itself. The rest of the dishes were just as good, with perfectly sized portions, satisfying without being heavy. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, making the whole experience even better.
I celebrated my birthday here and honestly couldn’t have picked a better place. We had the captain’s table and the experience menu was absolutely outstanding — beautifully curated, full of variety, and every dish was exceptional, especially the scallops. I also added caviar as a special extra, which was a lovely indulgence and made the evening feel even more special. The service was genuinely warm and attentive, the cocktails were perfectly on point, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re planning a birthday or a special event — such a memorable experience.
Sole Seafood Grill could have been absolutely perfect if it weren’t for one staff member. The food itself was incredibly delicious — a fantastic selection, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The warm and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant made it a lovely place to enjoy a meal. Almost all of the staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly, making us feel very welcome. Unfortunately, there was one woman who seemed constantly sour and unapproachable. At times, we were on the verge of asking if she could avoid serving our table because every time she came by, she seemed visibly annoyed, as if being there was a chore. It really didn’t fit with the otherwise welcoming and relaxed vibe of the restaurant. However, thanks to the kindness and professionalism of the rest of the staff, our evening remained wonderful. The overall experience was still very positive, and the delicious food and pleasant atmosphere more than made up for that one awkward interaction.
Awesome discovery for a foodie. The place looks great, although it’s pretty big with a lot of customers. We had seats at the bar, so we were isolated from the rest of the place. The staff was extraordinary nice and welcoming, especially our main server Thais. She was very knowledgeable about the paired wines, and oh so sweet. We were too early for the tasting menu which only starts at 8pm normally, but she and the manager arranged it so we had extra time, plus the kitchen also agreed to provide it regardless. All in all we had a great time, great food, excellently paired wines and spirits and awesome service!
The best meal I had on my vacation, everything was delicious! Service was outstanding. Even tho I was by myself got a great table w a view of the street to people watch 😁. I got the whole sole fish, which they expertly deboned in front of me! Even the Irish butter on the bread and cream on the Guinness cake dessert were delicious ❤️. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Excellent food. Great service, by Matthew. Great prices. Manager Patricia was courteous and moved us away from a loud/ noisy table. 6 Stars, for a never seen before, Flight for Ports! 10-20-30-40 Year old!
I had the pleasure of dining at Sole for the first time, and it was a delightful experience. My partner and I chose this restaurant for our date night, and we were not disappointed. The food was simply exquisite, showcasing the finest selection of seafood. The service at Sole was truly exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable evening. We started off with a sumptuous seafood platter that featured the finest smoked salmon from Howth. For my main course, I opted for the Monkfish, which was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. To top off our meal, we shared a delectable lemon tart that was the perfect ending to a fantastic dining experience. I would rate Sole a perfect 10 out of 10 for their outstanding food quality, impeccable service, and overall ambience. This restaurant is a gem for seafood lovers, and I cannot wait to visit again.
Enjoyed a lovely four course meal with work colleagues and customers. The steak was amazing and the dessert was delicious too 🤪
Love coming to SOLE for dinner. Whether it’s with friends, family or dinner for two! Always such a buzzy restaurant right in the middle of town. Beautiful food and really lovely staff. Thank you to Victor for taking care of us. 🙌🏻
We’re currently dining here, and I can honestly say this is one of the best sea bass dishes we’ve ever had. The presentation was beautiful, and the side dishes complemented the main course perfectly — an absolutely delicious meal. The ambiance and service were also outstanding. Highly recommended if you’re in Dublin. Thank you, Sole!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sole, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. Looking for some fresh seafood and tasty Irish beef, I had their tasting menu. Every bite was a culinary delight, leaving me eager to try more. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff members who were knowledgeable about the menu and eager to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was perfect. From recommendations on wine pairings to accommodating special dietary requests, the level of service exceeded my expectations. The ambiance of the restaurant is equally impressive, with a cool and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable meal. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a remarkable dining experience, Sole delivers on every front. Overall, I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food, exceptional service, and a memorable dining experience.
Tasty food and friendly staff. Perfect for dinner with boyfriend, family, or friends
My honey and I ate here on Christmas Eve, the food was great. It was so good that we went back after the new year during our holiday. Highly recommend SOLE, we tried the sole which is filleted at the table (this was the best entree we ordered). We want to try the seafood tower next.
This was a recommendation from a friend and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was stunning and the atmosphere was perfect. It made the first night of our mini-moon feel truly special. If you're in Dublin, this is a must-visit for seafood lovers.
Another fabulous restaurant in Dublin. Great food, great service, a lovely atmosphere. A well put together experience and menu, the food was delicious, a great portion, and came out exactly when it needed to. They have a coat and bag check, and the bathrooms and nice and clean. I had steak, raw oysters, and a nice dessert. They also have some very good vegetarian options that my friend enjoyed
We had a fantastic dining experience at SOLE Seafood! The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the seafood tower was especially impressive. They also provided a nice birthday dessert for my wife. A special shout-out to our server, Benoit, who was very kind and professional!
Went to Sole for to celebrate my daughter's graduation. The staff are fantastic. Absolutely top class service. We all had the 3 course meal and the food was wonderful My only criticism was the cheese dessert had a supplement charge, personally I didn't think it warranted. However that was the only issue. Other than that it was an fantastic restaurant and would recommend it.
Excellent restaurant in the center of the city. The place is well decorated. The staff is welcoming and professional. They offer a good variety of meat and fish dishes. We had fish for our dinner and they were all well cooked and prepared.the quality of the ingredients was very good. We had a bottle of champagne, but they also have a cocktail bar, and I could see very nice cocktails being prepared. Considering the quality of the food prices are reasonable.
Lovely atmosphere and enjoyable food! We had a great time here. Some of us went for the early bird menu, which offers great value for money, while others opted for the lobster and the vegetarian dishes. The vegetarian options were decent, though they could be improved to better reflect the overall quality of the place. The highlights were definitely the mussels and the Guinness cake—both were absolutely delicious! All in all, a very pleasant dining experience.
Overall a decent experience, though the food itself was closer to 3 stars. The seafood was fresh and tasted good. However, the non-seafood dishes were disappointing. The steak was overcooked and quite tough, and both the fries and the fried risotto (arancini) were excessively oily, with the oiliness noticeable in the taste. The fries also lacked crispiness. We also had a reservation but were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant where staff constantly passed by. There were several better tables available during our meal and even after we had paid, which made the seating choice a bit frustrating.
We went here as a special birthday dinner for my dad. The food was delicious, the portions huge, and overall a decent upscale meal. The only downside to our experience was that we were seated at a high top table (even with a reservation), that it was very loud, and that it was HOT! The temperature inside was so hot and stuffy it was insane. I think we dressed for the older weather outside and so when we came in, our clothes were too warm. There were so many people crammed in which also didn’t help the temperature. Moving onto the food, it’s a preset “Christmas dinner” when I went in December. So an appetizer, main course, and dessert. We ordered some cocktails, a bottle of Prosecco, and a red wine. The drinks were all great and no notes there. We got oysters, the Guinness salmon, and the burrata. One person liked the oysters, one didn’t care for them too much. The salmon and burrata was basic but still good. For mains, we got the sole, two steaks, and the venison. The sole was de-boned at the table, which was awesome and a surprise (to us). It was light, soft, and flavorful. I loved the sauce they added on the side. The steak was great- cooked to perfection and so BIG! The portions blew our mind and we couldn’t even finish it. The venison was light and tasty and not gamey at all. For desserts, we got the pear mousse, the rhubarb slice, the chocolate Yule log, and the Christmas pudding. All were great and we couldn’t finish them.
not worth visiting for those who like to eat a large portion. this place is designed for savoring a small portion over conversation and extremely good service, the staff was very polite and professional. the only drawback for me was the Caesar salad, there were three extremely small pieces of chicken and a lot of greens. the seafood soup was delicious and I liked it the most out of what I ordered. Another nuance was that when the hall is completely full, it becomes very noisy and not very comfortable.
Restaurant is very nice and big, your not sitting on top of the table next to you. Food was very good. Recommend the Sole. We did three courses, glass of wine each reasonably priced for the city Centre. One more critique was the side of mashed potato was a tiny bit overcooked seems to be in warm dish for awhile.
We ordered the much-anticipated Seafood Tower (€137): a stunning mix of hot and cold delights. The top tier featured warm lobster and mussels, while the bottom showcased chilled classics (oysters, prawns, and smoked salmon) all fresh and flavorful. The combination of hot and cold seafood worked beautifully together. A special mention for the fresh sourdough bread, don’t be shy about taking two or three slices to soak up those delicious sauces. For drinks, my wife enjoyed a glass of vintage brut Champagne (€38), while I paired the tower with a New Zealand Cabernet Sauvignon, both choices complemented the meal perfectly. For dessert, we indulged in the house specialty: the Guinness Cake, a rich Guinness-infused sponge with white-chocolate and coffee ganache, cacao nibs, and toasted almonds. We rounded off the evening with a glass of port wine, a lovely finish to the meal. That said, the service didn’t quite match the food. Our server seemed new and a bit unsure, and it was surprising that a restaurant of this caliber didn’t offer more experienced server. While the food and drinks were excellent, the service slightly dampened the overall experience. Still, come for the fantastic seafood, especially that tower, and enjoy the fine drink pairings. Hopefully, you’ll have a smoother service experience than we did!
Beautiful restaurant on a happening street in Dublin. Found SOLE after looking for a more upscale, seafood-centered dining experience. Lovely indoor dining room with ambient lighting and chic decor. Being greeted by a cooler with steaks actively being dry-aged and a tank full of live lobster helps add to reassurance that you will be served using extra-fresh high quality ingredients. The food is absolutely fantastic. The menu claims all of their beef can be traced directly to its origin within the country and it shows. Carpaccio, while a relatively small portion for the price, was some of the best I’ve had. The potato and lavage soup featuring chive and pesto tasted so fresh. The scallops (Coquilles St. Jacques) were absolutely plentiful and meshed beautifully with their Gruyère cream and mash accompaniments. The sea-bass, while also a relatively small portion, was extremely fresh and served with perfect accompaniments. The cocktail list was impressively expansive with tried and true favorites, and slightly more unique up-scale fancily garnished craft concoctions. The backbar was also impressive, and special shout-out for having every label and its ounce pour costing within the drink menu. The wine list was MASSIVELY extensive making sure to have something for everyone, although a little bit too marked up when you know the retail prices of some of those bottles. Now, the only thing leaving you wanting a little bit more was the service. Upon entering the host was not very warm and inviting, which is fine, but that’s every guests almost first impression. Others have complained about the exploitative pricing of the bottled water at the table, but thank goodness they do it that way, because the pace of service is just simply really slow. I’m okay with hanging out for a long time but when it takes 20 minutes from sitting down to getting your first sip of wine it makes you grow a little impatient. Also, a busy Saturday night, and our waiter made sure to keep our glasses full once the wine finally came, but there was no checking in by anyone throughout any point of dining. For an experience that is going to cost hundreds of Euros and prompt for a tip at the end I would’ve expected a little bit more of a personable experience from the waitstaff. Flagging down team members for bills or more drinks doesn’t seem like something that should happen at a place offering a several hundred Euro tasting menu. Overall, it was an above average experience due to the ambiance and the food. I would definitely return just maybe on a weeknight when it’s not so packed.
Food was beautifully plated and cocktails and wine selections were superb. For a expensive fine dining restaurant, you should always have the choice of taking your food back to your home regardless of it was fish or any other course on the menu. That is the customers choice to make. The customer should always be pleased and I was very disappointed that I couldn’t take home a vegan gnocchi (no fish) back to my place of dwelling. If you are paying for some of the finest food in Dublin, you should have the option to enjoy the leftovers at home. Besides that, everything was beautiful. Just get some take out boxes.
Great ambience, food was tasty. However, it did not meet my expectations with regard to the price. I ordered Sea Bass fillet, Scallops as main course which was good. For desserts, I had brownie and deconstructed pavlova - loved it. For cocktails, I had a mango drink, which was excellent. I was not served starters as I arrived a few minutes late for my reservation. Service was good and friendly staff.
All Food was excellent. Couldn’t fault it. Fish was super fresh (monkfish & halibut) and monkfish was especially amazing! Starters were very small but very good (tuna tataki & burata salad) overall the amount of food filled us nicely. Front of house was a bit frosty/unsure of how forward to be, not that welcoming for a restaurant billed as being so good. Server was nice enough but lacked a bit of confidence and warmness. Kept our wine topped up nicely though! Price a bit high for the overall experience but the slightly pretentious feel of the whole experience explains this. Pretentious maybe mistaken for lack of confidence of staff but that took a shine off the meal a little.
We recently dined at Sole and had a mixed experience. While some members of the wait staff were pleasant and welcoming, our main waiter, had a noticeable attitude that detracted from the evening. Although he was training new staff, we felt dismissed throughout our meal. No one came by to check on us or refill our waters, and eventually a carafe of water was simply dropped off at the table without any interaction. At one point while we were ordering, he abruptly flung a trainee’s hand off the iPad, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable to witness. The food, however, was a highlight. The oysters were delicious and served fresh on the half shell, accompanied by your choice of lemon, tobacco, and balsamic vinegar—simple and well-executed. The halibut was flaky and perfectly seared, and we also ordered the key lime tarte for dessert which was fantastic and easily one of the best parts of the meal. There were several mix-ups with drinks. I ordered a whiskey ginger but initially received a glass of ice with ginger ale and no whiskey; the whiskey arrived about five minutes later in a separate glass. Additionally, a tequila shot that was ordered chilled with lime arrived warm, which was disappointing. Overall, Sole is worth recommending for the value, especially the oysters priced at 2 for $7. Just be prepared for slow service, limited attention from staff, and occasional mix-ups that may impact the overall experience.
We visited Sole Seafood and Grill on a busy Saturday night in December. The restaurant was packed and so it was a good thing that we had booked a table. It was a 3-course set menu which had a good selection to choose from. It took a while for the order to be taken, but the staff were busy. For some reason they seemed to not want to serve us the bread, so we had to ask for it!! We had the seafood chowder and Salmon for starters, both of which were very good. Mains were the Halibut and Monkfish/Chorizo, again both were very excellent, very tasty. Dessert was Xmas pudding which was dry and the cheeses which were a 7 Euro supplement on top. My only real complaint was that the waiter filled my wine glass 5 times and each time managed to spill the wine once he had topped up my glass !! The bill was not cheap, however, it was very good food !! Would recommend.
The starters were strong and set expectations high, but the seafood tower fell short of what it promises. The lobster was dry, and the accompaniments felt limited: a single wedge of lemon for seven oysters and only basic sauces for the prawns. For a dish positioned as a centrepiece, the absence of a lobster pick to extract the claw meat was a noticeable oversight. Service was friendly and well-intentioned, though slightly disjointed. With several members of staff attending the table, simple requests such as wet wipes, bread, and the bill, had to be made more than once. In the end, it was an enjoyable evening, but one that felt overpriced for the restaurant’s showpiece dish. A little more attention to detail would go a long way.
Service was good and attentive but both me and my friend got severely sick 30h after eating their raw oysters. I contacted the restaurant regarding this issue but the final closure was that it was probably a notovirus infection and I was only offered a couple of apologies. I feel totally discredited from the worst sickness I had in my life, paid a good amount of money for this and lost days of work because of it. The food poisoning is real on this place so if you don't want to suffer a loss after getting a meal, avoid it.
Very disappointing. We got oysters both as an appetizer and with the seafood tower and they were very inconsistent. A couple were juicy and plump but most of them were almost dried out as if they were shucked hours before. We pointed this out to the staff and they did apologize and offer complimentary oysters (which we declined as we did not want to risk getting bad oysters for the 3rd time). Shrimp and prawns were overcooked and therefore became very dry and tasteless. I will say that the mussels were good, and the lobster was excellent. The service also left much to be desired; our wine bottle came only after we finished our appetizers. Also there seems to be a shortage of ice buckets in Dublin as the waiter put our bottle in a “shared” bucket about 2 meters from us. This would not be a problem in itself, but someone else’s wine was poured in one of our glasses at some point because the waiter got the wrong bottle…! The lady that seated us and got our coats was kind and understanding with our feedback and seemed genuinely sorry. As seafood lovers, we do not recommend this establishment; it was by far the most expensive we had in Dublin, but the one we enjoyed the least.
