Fantastic spot. Really really family friendly. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Food and coffee are good.
Hidden gem , highly recommended, by far the best value lunch in the city (€11.95) We both had the club sandwich which included chips/soup. Pop in , even if not going to cinema! Friendly staff to boot x
This is a brilliant oasis amongst the madness that is Temple Bar. If you want a chilled drink or dinner, this is the place. It's lovely to be within such a great cultural venue, really buzzy. The food was ace as was the wine. Also had beers on tap. Friendly staff. Somewhere it's easy to spend a few hours eating, drinking and talking. Highly recommend.
Lovely spot for lunch or dinner, especially after screening in IFI
Aside from being the BEST cinema in Dublin, they serve incredible food & awesome film + dinner deals 🤩Had the chicken burger with sweet potato fries.. so delish!
The carefully curated French menu during the French Film Festival is interesting to say the least. For only €25, a three course meal was a steal! I started with scallops, followed by ratatouille and a mouth-watering chocolate fondant. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit pre or post movie or even if you’re just wandering around Temple Bar.
Great venue for a bite to eat in the city centre. Good food, friendly staff, prompt service. Nice atmosphere.
Always great vibes and good food and coffee, drinks, not too mention handy to see a film, if you can extract yourself in time 😉
Delicious food and warm, friendly staff that were keen to ensure my friend and I had the best possible hangover experience after being soaked in the rain
Great atmosphere. Super offer buying main course with cinema ticket. I love this place.
Well worth a trip down the side street to eat here. Amazing portions, great food, a bar, WiFi. I had the lunch special which was a Club Sandwich with a side of soup - 10 euros.
Lovely little cafe bar, have always managed to get a seat here. Great to call in for a drink or a meal. Staff lovely.
Lovely place to have food. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. Toilets were clean.
Tasty coffee, speedy, good value café menu too and it's actually meant to be a cinema. Sometimes has a display on Irish cinema history, including this case celebrating the only Irish winter of both an Oscar and an Emmy.
If you love cinema and wholesome food, this place has the best of both. Lovely staff and great atmosphere included. Enjoy!
Really nice coffee and food is ful of variety in a lovely setting. Very enjoyable before or after a movie, overall a very special experience.
My go to place for a sit down, meeting or anything. The food is always incredible, great outdoor seating area that keeps you safe from the elements. Amazing atomosphere and all the staff are extremely helpful.
Good value, great atmosphere, friendly staff.
Great atmosphere, foods great and staff were friendly. With the added bonus of a great local cinema meters away. One small thing the lighting can be moody if not a little dim. But if it doesn't hinder your experience it will add to the atmosphere.
Cute and nice spot, helpful and friendly staff:))
Such a lovely place, staff are so friendly and food is delicious. I think it’s the best calamari I’ve had! Great spot for a bite before a movie or just dinner in a warm nice atmosphere in town. Have been a few times and will continue to go there when I’m around the area.
I wanted to say the staff is very accommodating. I didn't reserve tables before hand and was looking for a place to eat and talk with a friend. The front staff offered us to use the room upstairs all to ourselves and we had a great time. Thank you 🙏
Great food as always, fantastic staff, both indoor and outdoor dining have been adapted with reassuring covid measures in place. The terrace has had a transformation with the addition of a retractable cover and heaters and inside there's a super dooper filter. Can't recommend enough.
Still great after all these years. Can't speak to the food as we didn't eat this time, but popped in for a drink after a gig in the Olympia, when every other place was packed with stag and hen parties, the IFI was chilled with good music, quick service and place to sit down. Forgotten how much I like the place. 👍
If coming here for food, the prawn chili and basil linguine, lamb pie and burgers (the nut burger especially) are simply amazing. Flavoursome, cooked perfectly and served with a smile by incredibly friendly staff with a great focus on customer satisfaction. The starters are also incredible, especially the falafel but you may be surprised by how small the portion of lamb koftas you get (though the quality is fantastic if not the quantity?). Sadly they removed their salmon bellini torpedoes which were possibly the most enjoyable salmon based brunch item this side of the city centre. The main manager of the cafe is French and it's clear his focus on quality food made from quality ingredients is supported by all the chefs. Time and time again I've been blown away by the flavours of some of the dishes (as a smoker this is a fantastic treat) without liberal application of salt or fat. The flavour of the ingredients independent of each other can still be detected within the medley of tastes they work together to create. The *only* thing I think could be improved on is the selection of wines presently on offer. The tempranillo red is fantastic but the priciest red by the glass, and unfortunately all the other options just miss the mark for a rounded well bodied wine (some can taste corked despite being a fresh bottle). Given this is the only thing I think they could improve on shows just how brilliant they are overall for service, food and quality. If going for a coffee based beverage, they've recently released a cold brew with Mornin hazelnut syrup and I'm officially a convert (at least for the summer!). The cafe coffee dock staff like the restaurant and box office staff as warm and welcoming and the manager (not the French one) there, Alex, is an asset to the place, friendly with everyone and keeps on top of the needs of some of the regulars who have limited mobility. All in all, whether visiting Dublin or living here, I'd highly recommend coming here to try out the dishes. And on a Monday they do a pint and bowl of chicken wings for 10!
Lovely spot, friendly staff very welcoming. Had an early bite with friends and it was delicious. One tip have the icecream with popcorn...you think itll be weird..its spectacular!
Excellent service and reasonably priced. I had a coronation chicken sandwich with salad and a pint of Guinness and it was lovely. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting a bite to eat with a good atmosphere.
Interesting setting while waiting for a movie in one of their screens and for a meal afterwards. Great venue with good menu or just for a coffee. Centrally located in the heart of Temple Bar, Dublin.
Such a brilliant not-so-hidden gem. Food amazing, staff superb, atmosphere cozy. Definitely a spot for a drink and a quick bite.
An oldie but a goodie, I had forgotten how charming this place is… great central point to catch up with friends
The atmosphere in this converted Quaker meeting house is very good, with even an open fireplace. The staff are consistently pleasant to deal with. The menu operates on Al all-day basis and is goid value, though prices are creeping up. Main fault us tgat tge price of some glasses of wine is way out of line.
Errol (the security man.. sorry if i spelled his name wrong) is the finest and kindest gentlemen that ever existed. idk how much you pay him, but pay him more
Great option before you head to the screens. They also do an offer of 20 quid for a cinema ticket and dinner main. Food is delightful and inexpensive for what it is. There’s quite a few options - burgers, Mediterranean dips, Asian curries, chicken wings and more. Very diverse menu. Service was lovely and we were served quickly.
Lovely little cafe with a great atmosphere and food. Reasonably priced as well. Would definitely go again.
Reliably good for lunch. Ideal if tied in with visit to cinema. Good selection on menu, decent food, and good selection of draught beers. Prompt service too
Excellent experience. Very safe (vaccine certificate +identification needed). Friendly and efficient service. Lovely menu but bring back the cheese board.
The IFI's in-house cafe is a convenient downtown option, especially for filmgoers. Their brunch menu now includes avocado toast, which, while promising, needs refinement. The avocado would benefit from being mashed and seasoned with salt, pepper, lemon, and oil, and the bread should be upgraded for a more satisfying experience.
Good for meetings with colleagues when you need a little privacy or need a different atmosphere from the office. Nice adaptation of a old building. Food is nice but nothing special.
Staff fella turned us away for no reason telling us all tables were booked for at least next 40mins although we saw more than 4 tables were free. We then checked open table app, and we were able to book the table in there straight away. Why do that to the customers? Food wasn't great, chicken main dish pretty dry.
Food is too expensive relative to the quality!
IFI cafe are charging an extra 40 cent if you ask for Soy milk, yet at the same time you're given 30 cent off the price of beverages if you bring your own cup. The latter encourages sustainability, so why the charge on soy - as non dairy is also a step towards less use of water? I must add that the 30 cent discount also applies to non dairy milk if you have your own cup
In general I really like this place and frequently visit prior to a film or to savour the atmosphere and have a snack. However my last visit was spoiled because I was overcharged and when I noticed the excuse was frankly ridiculous and unbelievable. I was wondering what the real reason was???
Went into the Cafe Bar for some pre show food. I was welcomed by a friendly smiling waitress and shown to a table. I ordered soup of the day (vegetable) which was fine... and went for the languini with prawns chilli garlic and torn basil as my main course.. which was not so good. The pasta was oily/ greasy ,the garlic and chilli were of the dried variety and the prawns (5) which seemed to be strategically placed to make the dish look like there were more of them, were bland and I suspect frozen and not fresh ones. They were quite small too.. Overall not a great offering for the price which was not too far off what one would pay in an Italian restaurant. The service was good and friendly and when asked if my meal was ok .. I just said it was fine to avoid any awkwardness. I had a pint of Guinness with the meal which was very average for Dublin.. I've definitely had better.. All in all if I were to eat here again I would stick to basic food like burgers or bar bites. Anyway I enjoyed the movie and I love the IFI as a venue.. but if eating there pick carefully from the menu but be nice to the staff as they are lovely.
Good location, plenty of space, decor is dated and the place looks a bit run down and is showing a bit of wear and tear. Food is ok, value is pricey, staff are friendly and helpful, service is good.
Cool place, but obnoxious managers, the older man and the Asian guy at the bar. I used to hang on there, see movies and drink coffee every time I visited Dublin since the place opened in the 1990s. I don't go anymore because of the heavy hints that I should keep spending or move on. It is not enough to enjoy a movie and a couple of coffees and then hang out there for a while after that. This is not what an art house movie place should be like. Most of the staff are lovely people. It is a pity about the managers(just guessing which are the managers)
Nothing to say about the cinema, it is very nice and you can find nice movies to see. I was very disappointed about the bar products. My partner and I have been there for dinner, the products were of poor quality and the sauces two months out of the date. Very poor service too. I think that it should be improved.
Very disappointment first foray into the IFI after lockdown. I felt sorry for the waitress who had no familiarity with the menu or even the layout of the café, hence delay, wrong order delivered to the table, the rest. What was to be a leisurely snack before a film turned into a hassle-ridden disappointment. Hopefully it is teething problems of the re-start.
I love the films here. But service is woeful... And seating never adequate ... Due for refurbishment... Hope these long standing deficiencies will be addressed. Food at the best of times middle of the road
We went here with our family on November 20th, before returning to the hotel, for our son's birthday. While my husband and daughter ordered, my son and I waited at the sign to be seated. In vain, they walked around but would not come over to help us, just like we were invisible. Then we went in and tried to sit down; there were many empty places, without a reserved sign. They sent us up to a dirty, high-seated place, while there were many free places downstairs. Both upstairs and downstairs, it was visible that in some four-person tables, sitting just two people, or upstairs, in the only four-person place, sitting just one person, clutching a coffee. We also ate, and there were four of us. I can't even say that what we ordered was good. The coffee and hot chocolate were watery, tasteless, just like the cakes. We do not recommend this place. The staff was inattentive and negligent; I'm sure we will not revisit this place.
Popped here for a Sunday brunch….never again! The food was awful, the service was rude and unprofessional, noticed an hair in my food, reported to a waiter an Indian guy I think, the response was shocking! Saying that is that quite usual here!!! Crazy! I won’t came back never again.
