Delightful experience, great food and top notch service by Tyler. I enjoyed the kababs, with order of fries. Wife enjoyed the turkey on cranberry wild rice bread & cup of chicken wild rice. Excellent! Plenty of parking and not too busy for 4pm Saturday afternoon. Booths, tables, hightops and bar seating available. Spent $72 total for dinner for two, no alcohol drinks which kept cost lower than we usually spend. Highly recommend for all the right reasons.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch on our way up north and had the most amazing time!!! The atmosphere was so fun, the food was delicious (huge portions) and the service was incredible. Our server, Lisa, went above and beyond to give us everything we needed (despite us being quite indecisive). We will definitely be back!!! Thank you Lisa!!!!

Great location and great enviornment but a bit noisy so if that’s not your vibe I’d not come or arrive earlier. There’s a normal booth seating area but also a bar seating area. I got Smoky Baked Mac N’ Cheese which was extremely good and I’d definitely eat again if I returned. They’ve got a decent range of dishes such as pasta, side pieces, beverages, a kid menu, starters, burgers, salads, sandwiches, and such. The pieces around the restaurant on the walls, ceiling, and such were quite unique and had good humour to it. They’ve also got a merchandise/souvenir section right next to the entrance/exit.

Such a fun experience. I’ve always wanted to go to this restaurant and now I can cross it off my bucket list. But I would like to go back again some day. There is so much to see. There is so much history and most of it if not all of it from our state of Minnesota. Seeing some of the displays brings back fond childhood memories. Our food was very good. Our service was very good too. We didn’t have reservations but we’re seated almost immediately. It was definitely a busy place and I would encourage reservations so you don’t miss out. Came back September 2025. Enjoyed the Golden Onion Rings and a double patty Tricycle Burger this time.

I'll still give 5 stars even if my half order of chicken tettrazini had just 4 or 5 little cut up bites of chicken with a plate full of wild rice smothered with cheese. However! They made it right and gave us a discounted price for my meal ..which was a unexpected surprise. Love this place . We have been here 4 times so far.... pictured are the steak bites and chicken tettrazini

Iconic place in Duluth. Had the fish and chips and it was amazing. Probably the best tartar sauce I've ever had!

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! I would recommend the smaller portion sizes unless you’d like two meals! Our server Rich gave great suggestions, was incredibly friendly, and attentive. When we arrived on a weeknight, the wait was about 20 minutes (no reservations). Handicap accessible, small parking lot out front, and options for dietary restrictions (gluten & dairy). Overall a great experience!

Brendan is the best sever! The food was delicious and the atmosphere is very cheerful and inviting. So glad we stopped in, the wait was definitely worth it!

What a great themed restaurant with great food, service, and atmosphere. The pictures do not do it justice. This is a must see and experience restaurant if you’re in the Duluth area. My only suggestion would be to advise your guests that there are two completely different menus between the main floor and the upper level before you seat them.

Whewww…We had a great experience at Grandma’s Saloon & Grill. The wait time was minimal, and the staff was friendly from the moment we walked in. Our waiter, Brenden, was an absolute pleasure—he remembered our entire order perfectly and was incredibly attentive throughout the meal. The barbecue wings were a standout! They were perfectly sauced with just the right amount of smoky sweetness. Excellent service all around!

Had the mushroom and Swiss burger with fries. Everything tasted great the atmosphere was fun and not boring at all

Good atmosphere. Great food and service. I ordered the turkey club sandwich, on cranberry-wild rice bread. And that bread turned out to be really good!

I don't give 5 stars to everybody. Keely our server went above and beyond. Alaskan Amber Ale excellent. Food better than excellent. Real wild rice! Wild steak and bleu bowl was sooooo good! And I got a Double Berry Tiramasu! 😂🤣😂

Such a fun place! The food was AMAZING! We had the steak bowl and walleye platter and both were so good. There is a small gift shop and a candy case with chocolate. Service was fast and friendly. Try the onion rings, they are HUGE, but so good!

This Grandma’s Saloon & Grill is located near the aerial lift bridge. I went there for lunch with my family. There are three seating options: inside downstairs, upstairs indoor, or upstairs outdoor. Note: the downstairs and upstairs have different menus. We chose the upstairs indoor seating, which offered a very good lake view. The upstairs outdoor seating has a great view of the lift bridge. We ordered fish and chips, Wild Chicken Salad, Eggplant Parmesan, Raspberry Chicken Wrap, and Bridge Burger. The food was good; the fish was crispy, and the Wild Chicken Salad was a little on the sweeter side. Nice staff and great meal. We enjoyed our meal while watching the lake.

We appreciate the enjoyable food, good atmosphere, and quality service. Our waitress was very kind and helpful, given that we had two wheelchairs and a complex situation. The manager was able to help us get the booth we desired to address our needs. Many people do not have a good understanding of what all goes into living the special needs life so I am grateful for the fact that we were able to get accommodations like this - thank you!

Stopped in for lunch, waited about 10 minutes to get a table but the handy text updates were great! We started with the dill cheese bites that were spectacular! Could’ve had more they were so good! First time eating here (the smell of food from outside pulled us in), sat inside in the ac, loved the decor and atmosphere. Service was great as was the food! Portions were really good, kids loved the fries and the option of ordering half the monte was very much appreciated! Prices were a little high for a family of 5 but with great service, large food portions and quality of food it was definitely worth it! We will definitely be back.

Went there and enjoyed the bar deck overlooking the lift bridge and it was definitely a perfect view. If you haven't been, it is a must.

We have been to Grandma's a few times through the years. But this is my first review. We had about a 10 minute wait on a Friday night. We sat at the bar and I had a bloody of course! The loaded bloody came with pickled herring and I don't know if it was a green been but that thing was SO SPICY by itself. We ordered the dill cheese curds. They were SO good!! I had the baked mac and cheese and it was very good. It's almost like they use a wild rice soup base for their Mac and cheese. I would find little pieces of carrots and it I could pick up tastes of a chicken pot pie. SO GOOD. My husband ordered a Cajun chicken dish on a bed of wildrice. He describes it as GOOD. LOL! I recommend this place to anyone looking for some good food!

Great location and a must stop in Duluth! If you are able to get an outside seat in the second floor… TAKE IT! We were quickly seated and given menus. Ordered and food was to us within 10 minutes. A limited menu makes for easy choices. Curious on the burger being $17 .. tasty… but expensive. Honestly paid for the view of the bridge and experience.

Great food and service. It is located right by the Ariel Bridge. There is also a shipping museum right by. For several blocks there are several awesome stores to shop in. Also the paved walk way goes from the bridge all the way back to Lief Erickson Park. A lot to do and see. Plus the main event Lake Superior. Restaurant is located to the right of the bridge. Ocean going ship left of light house.

Very nice diner! We really enjoyed it! Our waitress was the best! She is there for a long time! She really did a great job! Food was good! Recommend going there!

This time around I was not very impressed with the service or the food. Typically very busy and hard to get the scenic second floor seating overlooking lake Superior and the lift bridge. Grandma's is a must for any tourist to experience. Great beers on tap, but this time around I think the chefs we backed up and rushed and our food didn't turn out so good:/ Otherwise a must for any occasion or event

We have to go to Grandma's every time we visit Duluth. We love that they have a dog friendly patio area but you may have to wait awhile. I love their onion rings. The kids liked their spaghetti. The Monte Cristo and fish/chips were great as well.

Definitely enjoyed the ambiance and quick service. We are here based on location. Large seating area and visual stimuli. Highly recommend the Dill Cheese curds. They stole the show!! Food was good.

Having heard different opinions, I went to Grandma's down Canal Park for lunch. The place looks lovely inside - relaxed Duluth waterfront vibes and a good old historical feel of industrial Northland combined. My Chicken Tetrazzini with Wild Rice was delicious, and even a smaller lunch version was a very generous portion. Service was great and really fast, guests were pleasant and the whole place was bubbling with busy motivated downtown energy. Will definitely come back to enjoy their outside sitting when it warms up.

Little expensive because of the location. But the food made up for it. The burger and fries were top of the line. Friendly service and nice environment with options for seating.

Great food and service, lively atmosphere. Good onion rings with great options for sauces - parmesan sauce is surprisingly unique and delicious! French onion soup is good, but pretty standard. Chocolate amaretto cheesecake is a must-try for dessert!

We rented out the “Up Bar” for the evening on 2/13/26. We had Tessa as our bartender for our company party and she was above and beyond! Great service, laid back and funny. Food was awesome, drinks were great, we will be back!

I was visiting family and we came here and I was blown away. Our server was sooooooooo nice despite being pretty busy. She constantly checked on us and refilled water. The food was mind blowing. I got the Swiss burger with fries and had the breadstick from my grandmother, and they were all Sooooo good, I wanted to get another one but was stuffed. The atmosphere was perfect and will definitely be back when I can!

Tyler was our server and was very pleasant. After dinner we went upstairs and played some bar games and had some beers. The bartender Kayline was wonderful! She was very fun, accomodating and gave us great recommendations for the rest of our night. If you cone to Grandmas go see Kayline!

Very good food, we like to eat here every time we come to Duluth for shopping or left bridge/pier. We cane for BentlyVille this time round & it was conveniently close as well. Polite waitress too. Good experience just had to wait 45 mins as we had a party of 16.

We recently reserved a meeting room for a few lunch & learn seminars we were hosting during the day. We had two groups, the first being a group of about 25 and the second being a group of about 5. Grant was our server - TOP NOTCH!!! He anticipated our needs, went above and beyond to get everyone what they wanted and how he did it without writing anything down is beyond me but that's probably just a small part of why he's such a ROCKSTAR. The food was good, the space worked great for our needs, but we were extra impressed with Grant going above the scope to make sure we had what we needed. We'll definitely be going back and hope to get him as our server next trip!

Nice atmosphere. Trout sandwich had very little meat or substance. Chicken sandwiches looked good, not toasted bread. No refills on water. Seemed too busy to check on customers. Fun experience overall, food looked good. Fries and fried cheese were great.

We recently had the opportunity to dine at Grandma’s Saloon & Grill for the first time. Although we have frequently visited Duluth while traveling to and from the North Shore, we had never had the chance to visit Grandma’s until now. On a summer weekday afternoon, the establishment was half full. The service was excellent, and we were impressed by the ambiance. However, the food was average and somewhat overpriced. I opted for the Chicken Pot Pie, while my wife chose the Walleye.

B
Ben Woodson

This was a very pleasant experience. Our server Hannah was very nice and made it a good experience. We were really hungry and this place certainly did the job the monte cristo was good and the walleye was good too i would come here again but also wasnt something I would rave about or recommend to all my friends. Really cool location and atmosphere though.

Grandma's Restaurant is a famous restaurant near the Canal Park. The ambiance is very interesting. They have taxidermy mounts of a Bison, Elk, Moose, and Black Bear. We ordered a Kebab and a Baked Mac Cheese. Wild rice seems to be a specialty in this restaurant so I ordered the Kebab with a wild rice. It was good!

We visited while passing through on a Thursday for a late lunch at 1 pm. Restaurant was clean, food was great, employees were polite, but service was painfully slow after waiting 40 minutes to be seated. We had the Walleye Sandwich, Cajun Chicken, Chicken Pot Pie, and Chicken Strip Basket. Everything was very tasty! Parking was a challenge with our 30’ travel trailer, not sure there would have been room on a weekend. They also add a 5% gratuity to every check for the kitchen staff.

The restaurant was so nice and staff were very friendly. Came up to the area for the day this last summer and thought let’s try this place out. Me and the wife sat on the roof top patio the over looks the lift bridge and the lake that was beautiful. We both ordered the fish and chips. The frys were very good as the fish was perfectly cooked just didn’t really have a ton of flavor. If I go back I probably wouldn’t order that again and just try a burger or something. But all and all I would say you should try it and if it’s nice out try and sit outside and take in them views.

We usually love grandma’s but our experience last night was not great. We ordered take out and we knew they closed at 9pm so we called around 8 to see how long the kitchen was open and placed a pick up order at about 830p. We arrived at about 850 and everyone seemed annoyed that we came even though we were just picking up. They gave us our food at 9p and we left. We got home and both our burgers were missing a patty as we ordered a double, all of our toppings except the grilled onions, and missing an additional sauce. I am worried that they were in such a hurry to get our order they forgot to give us everything we paid for. It was a major disappointment and bummer. *UPDATE* Jess the manager reached out and was very professional, kind and made it right. Will definitely visit again!

We wanted to try Grandma’s because it is a popular spot in Duluth. We loved the theme and ambience of the restaurant. There were so many things to look at! We got there as the restaurant opened, so we were seated quickly. The food was mediocre. It was nothing that stood out from the other places we ate at in Duluth. Serving was huge though! Our server was not great. It seemed like she didn’t really want to be there. She was rude to some members of our party. She gave the vibe that we should be grateful that she was even taking our order. Overall, Grandma’s was an experience. I think if you’re in Duluth, you should at least try it once. Will we come back? No.

Cool place to eat for a touristy spot. Walls are decorated with awesome decorated. Food was ok. Large portions. The best item was the wild rice and gravey they serve with it. Does have a deck to watch the bridge.

I had really fond memories of going to Grandma's as a child. There is lots of kitsch and it is in a great location near the Aerial Lift Bridge. It was too busy and we were seated quickly. The food portions are large. I went with the Raspberry Chicken Salad and a non-alcoholic drink that had ginger in in (I can't remember what it was called). The Husband went with the Cranberry Turkey Club. All were good, just not as good as my memories were. Also, service was a bit slow and the table was sticky. The shining light was the chocolates we had on our way out. Those were amazing and memorable. Still a fun place to visit and it will still be on my list each time I am in town.

I decided to stop by a local restaurant recently. The initial wait time was nearly an hour, but fortunately, they offered a secondary seating area upstairs with a limited menu. That option reduced the wait to about 25–30 minutes. Once seated, the service was excellent, friendly, and attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. I ordered the deep-fried chicken sandwich, which arrived soggy and unappetizing. I could only manage to eat half before giving up. To add to the disappointment, they were out of their frozen pizza, which had been my first choice. While I think this restaurant deserves another chance in the future, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return anytime soon. Hopefully, they can look into the kitchen issues and make it better for the next customers.

My wife and I come to Canal Park at least three times a year to relax along the lake. We were among the very first tourists to enjoy food and drinks twice a day at Grandmas while there, even before the four nearby luxury hotels were built. Now, after all these years, we are retired and really relied on Grandmas Burgers to savor on our recent visit this past weekend with family. Sadly, I had been advised by other family who visited Grandmas earlier this Spring that the burgers were no longer the same famous & unique taste that they had always been for decades. Sure enough, our two "Tricycle Burgers" were surprisingly disappointing as well. And on a next day visit, same sad story. What happened? What changed? Are you cutting corners now, trying to decrease food costs to stay profitable? What we ate WAS NOT a $20 burger plate. Please go back to the beef patties you have always used, stay true to the grilled onion based taste that wonderfully infuses the meat, (I had like three small onion pieces on mine?) toast both halves of the bun with butter as before, and above all, protect your long positive hard earned consistent food quality. If this is the new way you are making your famous burgers today, we regrettably won't be back. Please reverse what ever changes you have made to these beloved burgers please! We love your fabulous place as our single most favorite vacation dining destination, but we left Canal Park this Sunday really surprised at what happened to your burgers. Submitted with all due respect and sincerity.....

I really wanted to love this place because the atmosphere is fantastic and the setting is beautiful, but unfortunately, our dining experience was very disappointing. We ordered the $20 Bacon Cheeseburger, and it was honestly a letdown. For that price, the burger was very small, lacked flavor, and came with a tiny amount of cheese and very few french fries. Similarly, the Salmon Bowl featured a surprisingly small bowl of rice with a few green beans and a small piece of fish that didn't feel like a full meal. It definitley didn’t feel like a $24 dish. The service was incredibly slow. We understand that the kitchen was overwhelmed at some point, but we waited over an hour for our food. To make matters worse, we had ordered chicken wings as an appetizer, but they didn't arrive until more than an hour later, after the main courses. To their credit, the staff did not charge us for the wings since they missed the timing, but it didn't make up for the overall experience. It’s a real shame because you expect much larger portions and better quality for these prices. Great vibes, but the food and service simply didn't match the cost. We left feeling quite disappointed. I’m sure management will reply to this saying they "strive to improve" or "will look into it," just as they have on many other negative reviews here. However, looking back at past feedback, it’s clear that these same issues have been happening for a long time and nothing has actually changed. It’s a shame, but we won't be returning. I have pictures of food but we are on those pics so I am mot going to publish them.

Service and ambiance was good. Food was very disappointing. We ordered four different meals, and everything seemed to be cheap and prepackaged. I feel this place leans heavily on its location and decor to succeed.

We were excited to eat here because it used to be a favorite. First thing that happened is a member of our party sat down into the booth and ended up on the floor. The ENTIRE booth seat came apart and broken wood pieces were sticking out. I flagged down a server to tell them we were moving booths. One worker came over and said, “I was worried about that one because it almost happened to me one day and it’s broken before. They’re old and a lot of them are broken.” Another girl came over and they were pointing and whispering about the situation. We never got an apology. Watched what I assume was a manager, aggressively sit on the same booth, decided it was fine, and sat another table in the same broken booth. To top off our bad experience, two of us that had the chicken pot pie, spent the night with food poisoning. We will NOT be returning and send a word of caution to anyone who wants to enjoy their trip without food poisoning. Experience was AWFUL.

Food is not awesome. Very spicy. Service was minimal. The only thing going for them is atmosphere . Won't return.

When we arrived my husband went in and put our name on the list at 7:54 pm. They said they will text us when table is ready about 25-30 minutes. We watched several parties leave the establishment. We decided to go in and check at 8:33. When we went back to host stand and they didn’t have our name. They got us in right away. On our way to the table the hostess said I don’t know what happened sometimes our pad deletes people. We sat and the waiter was really busy so we waited a few minutes no big deal. When he came to table he said the kitchen closes in 13 minutes. We ordered everything at once and had a great experience from the server on. Ultimate fail at the host stand. We go to the one in Virginia,MN and it’s always a great experience. We may rethink before we go back to the Duluth again. It’s a good thing we checked cause they would have closed while we were waiting.
