I recently stayed at this fantastic hotel and had a wonderful experience. The staff gave me a warm welcome, making me feel at home. The view from my window was stunning, with a beautiful sea and lovely landscaping. It was a peaceful and relaxing stay. I highly recommend this place!

We had the 5 course tasting menu. Absolutely fantastic food. Tempura cauliflower was delicious. Cod was very flavoursome and the steak parcel was melt in your mouth. Each course had plenty of flavour and well cooked. Good service and friendly. Nice spacious dining room with great views.

Went to a wedding there, loved the kind of rustic charm of the place, great large room for the reception and meals was very good

I wasn’t going to leave a review, because I saw there are plenty on here already. But then I read some of the negatives ones, that I wholeheartedly disagree with, which prompted me to comment. Some people mentioned dirty, filthy, or in need of a deep cleaning. I have to say that I didn’t see dirt or grime anywhere. In fact, I was so pleased that whenever a member of staff seemed like they might not immediately have a guest to attend to, they were cleaning something. Our bedroom (turret suite) in particular was impeccable. I commented to my partner how surprising it is that an old house can be so clean. I’m used to some friends’ big dusty old houses that seem impossible to get clean. So good job to the staff. Food: breakfasts were absolutely delicious. No complaints there, and served by such friendly courteous staff. I could go on and on. But would stay again.

We are currently enjoying a wonderful stay in the Ben Hogan Suite at the TayPark House. The staff have been absolutely amazing, consistently going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. When my partner became unwell, they were incredibly compassionate, offering water, orange juice, . Even room service in the morning aso about any needs we might have. The hotel itself is situated on a beautiful and historically significant site, adding to the overall charm of our stay. The dining was also very pleasant I a fundamentally enjoyed the food.

We went for lunch. We were showed to our table by a waiter who bought us the menu. We had a glass of Prosecco. I had the crab, followed by the beef pie and sticky date pudding. My friend had scallops, followed by the tempura cauliflower and chocolate fondant. It was all beautifully plated. The taste of each item amazing. So much food, I had to leave abit of the pie. Absolutely fantastic. You have to go.

Our family group stayed this weekend in the Turret room, the Garden room, and the family room. All rooms were gorgeous, lovely bed linens, towelling bathrobes and biscuits, fresh water, teas and coffee making in the room. The gardens are lovely with an outdoor bar, and outdoor eating pods! The view from the Turret room was amazing! We loved sitting in the room with the family as it had a leather sofa and comfortable seating. The gin bar downstairs was welcoming and we had lovely coffees there also. The staff were super helpful and could not go out of their way enough for us. We had 2 delicious breakfasts during our stay. The lunch and dinner looked good too though so when we stay again we will definitely enjoy more food there or maybe afternoon tea!! Can’t wait to return to this very special place ❤️

Did not stay here but used the restaurant. This was our first visit to Taypark having been recommended to visit. This first time dining here proved a real success and one that must be repeated. Whilst we have visited Dundee many times we did not know of this gem which is located close to the city but in a country setting. The first thing that struck us was the building itself set within beautiful gardens and having enticing lit and heated pods for enjoying drinking and dining ‘outside’. Something to try on a future visit. We were shown into the restaurant by a polite, professional and welcoming young man called Arran. He was the main person looking after us and he helped make our first visit very special. The dining room is well presented overlooking the gardens. Within an hour of us arriving it was very busy making the ambiance something special. A surprisingly diverse menu to choose from with the cuisine presented being simply delicious. We left planning to return to sample other dishes on the menu. So a really excellent evening with thanks to Arran and other team members for making our first visit definitely not our last.

We hired the Taypark for our Wedding and comfortably fit our 71 guests. Everything was included, with no hidden fees. We're based in Edinburgh and had plenty of opportunities to meet Mona our co-ordinator in person but the majority of the arrangements were made via email which was incredibly helpful. Mona coordinated everything on the day, from making sure the right music was played to setting up the tables exactly how I'd envisioned. Mona did a brilliant job, consistently giving us the opportunity to see what had been set up before the guests. The food for the wedding breakfast, canapés, and evening buffet was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. We would recommend having your wedding at the Taypark, you'll be well taken care of and will have memories to last a lifetime

We visit quite frequently and find it a great place to meet and have a coffee an snack. Surroundings are beautiful. Have not stayed so cannot comment on the rooms but I can only imagine them to be of a great quality, it is a cute boutique hotel. Thay also do lovely meals if you fancy it. Wood highly recommend 😊

I had the honour of attending one of my closest friends weddings at Taypark House and the venue and staff did not disappoint for even a second. The venue itself is beautiful, with gorgeous panorama views across the Firth of Tay, which provided one of the loveliest backdrops to any event, not just the wedding. The food was served with professionalism and care for guests, with staff answering any queries about the contents of the meals in a timely and dignified manner. Additionally, the food itself was so beautifully plated that it was almost a shame to eat. However, when I did put fork to mouth, it was an explosion of flavour that I couldn’t get enough of! I had a wonderful time speaking with the staff that were looking after us for the wedding celebrations. Everyone was so friendly and patient, and it was a delight to be under their care. Ellen, Lydia, Ellie, and Dhruvi, thank you all for your wonderful work and your genuine interest in the nights events. It isn’t often that you find front of house staff that have this much genuine for guests (speaking from experience), so it was the cherry on top of an already fantastic day. Good luck to each of you with your studies and onwards! Thank you all so much for making a memorable stay at Taypark House.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an absolute ball at Taypark House yesterday evening! Everything was superb from start to finish. The meals were delicious, service was speedy and perfectly timed, and the manager and team couldn’t have been more helpful – nothing was too much trouble. The grounds are absolutely stunning and offered plenty of space for ceilidh dancing with a live band, which really made the evening feel special. We’d definitely love to come back again and would wholeheartedly recommend Taypark House to anyone planning a celebration. Thank you for a wonderful night!

We photographed a wedding at Taypark House last October, and it was such a joy. The venue’s mix of historic charm and modern style creates such a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The gardens in autumn were absolutely beautiful. Full of rich colour and just perfect for photos. The views over the River Tay and the nearby Botanic Gardens added even more magic to the day. The staff were so helpful and made everything run smoothly for the couple and for us as photographers. We’re excited to be coming back to photograph another wedding here this August and we honestly can’t wait!

Had my birthday dinner at Taypark House and absolutely loved it. We sat in one of the domes, which was beautifully lit, cosy, and even had its own heater inside, so it felt really special and comfortable. The whole place looked stunning at night, and the indoor area was also very elegant. The food was very good. we had the fish and chips and a burger, and both were delicious. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. The setting and views make it feel like a perfect place for a birthday, date night, or small event. I can imagine it would look especially beautiful at sunset too. Definitely recommend if you’re in Dundee and want somewhere pretty with a lovely atmosphere.

We had 5 course taster menu with voucher and food was fantastic. The sauces had us finger licking the plates clean. There was plenty of staff to look after you and dishes were served promptly. Atmosphere is relaxed with pleasant background music. There is plenty of parking with an overflow area if the front of the building is full up. It has well wooded grounds so seems to be in the countryside. Sometimes the airport can be heard it is just down by the river. There is a view over the river from the dining room.

Five star food served by friendly staff who go out of their way to ensure everyone’s expectations are met. Would totally recommend this venue for the best possible food and service, Our experience was ten out of ten all round. Thanks to all. We will be back!

Very nice lunch for 7 adults and 2 children. Beautiful Victorian sandstone house off Perth Road with views out over the river Tay. The house has been tastefully refurbished combining traditional with contemporary styles. Helpful, attentive staff. The menu offered something for everyone, and was reasonably priced. Food was tasty and the helpings were good, we will definitely be back.

Treated my partner to a 5 course tasting menu for his birthday....felt more like my birthday as the food was absolutely amazing!! Above and beyond! I'm very fussy and don't like veg at all but my favourite dish had to be the cauliflower (beef was a very close second). Everything tasted out of this world and my palette was still popping after every course! Highly recommended indeed

Had a lovely breakfast here with friends and family. The manager himself took our orders, was very friendly and genuine with us. The food was excellent too. Likewise the staff, in particular an Italian waitress (whose name I forgot unfortunately), was very pleasant and took time to have a chat with us

Recently enjoyed the tasting menu at this lovely venue - we were seriously impressed by the food and all round experience. The menu was thoughtfully designed and presented and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. All round a fantastic evening out and we will be back! Thank you.

Me and my good lady had a night here as just to have a break and unwind. We booked up for dinner bed and breakfast. Glen and William couldn't do enough for us, they were fantastic hosts. We arrived around about 5pm and were greeted by William who had us booked in and shown to our room. The room was lovely with a beautiful view. Our drinks that I had asked for were chilling in an Ice Bucket, perfect bags down and drink in hand. I wont go on about all the details, but I would say our stay was perfect and good break away with great service lovely food and great views. I would highly recommend here to anyone who is looking for a nice break to relax and recharge.

Overall, good wee stay in the Turret Suite. A couple of things would annoy some folk, but I looked past it to the friendly and helpful staff. We had a drink in the bar and ate in the restaurant on our first night. The food was delicious & drinks not too expensive. Maintenance could be improved - stair carpet was particularly grubby. The bedroom was clean, but there were a couple of maintenance issues that need attention. Good value for money and I would stay again.

This is a lovely hotel but a bit tired looking now, staff and food were great.

Great little hotel in the west end. Short walk to cafes and bars. Decor is a little dated and tired but all is clean. Customer service was great with polite staff. Dinner was good quality and enough choices. Overall positive for a couple trip where you want it quiet to relax, minus the odd plane noise from the airport.

Had brunch here using a prepaid voucher. No issues with the process, with all options on the menu available. Had a full cooked breakfast which was good, as was the wife's vegetarian breakfast. Decir a bit tired but the service was very good.

We stayed at Taypark for a friends wedding held at the hotel. We were 2 adults and 2 children and had a great time. Firstly, the service couldn't be faulted. The staff were great, especially with the children and if anything was up, quickly rolled up sleeves and sorted it out. The food was good (although breakfast was lacking tatty scones and black pudding...) and there were lovely touches like Beanos available for the kids. The play house and tree were well used by our boys and friends children. We had a family room without a river view and the layout was great - super spacious and a huge bathroom with a massive bath that the boys said was a pool! The stables was amazing and compete with a beer tap. What let the hotel down was attention to detail and a general care worn atmosphere. The main staircase carpet looked like it had either seen action in a major theatre of war or had been used to soften the hooves of stampeding deer that were very nervous. Grim doesn't come close to describing it. In our room there was half used complementary shampoo, a door handle that had one of 3 screws functioning and we found discarded used false nails on the floor. Walking up to the stables we went past a shipping container with a pile of rubbish next to it which really detracted from the fairy tale atmosphere. We had scones post nuptials and the clotted cream was left under heat lamps so it became cream soup. It's these tiny bits of lack of focus that takes it from a 5 star review to 4 star, or from great to kind of alright.

We enjoyed our stay in this small hotel- we were not thrilled to find we were very close to the airport with quite loud flights going into the evening (9pm with us having small children). We were also here during a wedding, which we understand comes with a level of noise and chaos, but it felt the venue and team still hadn’t recovered from it even a couple of days after the wedding had passed- garbage on the grounds, beer bottles on the playground, and broken glass at the playground. Breakfast was lovely. The staff were great.

S
Steven “Stan” Cameron

We have a family wedding there and we could not fault the staff for there professionalism. They were a young team, but nothing was too much trouble. Service was impeccable and the food was of the highest standard. The wedding went off with out a hitch. Only 1 criticism would be that there was not a lift or stair lift to get our elderly aunt up to the room the ceremony was held in. But great day had by all.

Lovely property that has sadly lost its shine, compared to the photos on booking.com. That said, while the food is a bit on the pricy side, it is very nice, and this is probably where we have had the best haggis so far, on our Scottish tour. Some of the fixtures and fittings need a good sand or clean, and the housing staff need to be talked to, on standards, as we found one false eye lash, 1 hair pin and other bits lying around in the bathroom and bedroom. The duvet had a tear in it, and the bathroom was showing signs of mold in one corner.

I would have given this place a 5 star rating but for a series of inconveniences which somewhat marred the atmosphere of the visit. For example mixing up of keys to the extent that we spent 2 hours trying to access the apartment was inexcusable, and not having sufficient crockery for four persons - like 2 plates for 4 people shows lack of wuality control, etc. Small things which with good management and controls could have been sorted out without inconveniencing the customers. We did greatly appreciate that the Management sorted out the problems to our satisfaction in the end and we appreciated the box of chocolates and the card with apologies given to us for our troubles. Well done on that. The accommodation itself is exceptionally presented and deserves a 5 star rating. We would come back for that reason.

We did the 5 courses with a voucher and although we had a lovely time the food wasn't perfect. Started well with mushrooms on toast (not sure they were foraged though!) And then the crumb with pickled onion seemed to show up on every dish from then on...we loved the scallop, perhaps without the capers (the crumb and pickles provide the salt and sharp well enough) the sauce with the leek cake was too acidic (again the pickled onion provides enough sharpness) and I just kinda wished it were a fish cake!..the beef was a slightly bland thankfully we had our crumb and pickled onion to cheer it all up. Thankfully it didn't appear on dessert but sadly the honeycomb was burnt and tasted like like carbon. So not quite perfect but a lovely experience. 😊

Visited Taypark House today for a birthday breakfast. The setting is beautiful, and the venue is lovely. We sat in the light and airy Drawing Room. We were promptly shown to our seat, and our drinks order was taken quickly. We ordered two full breakfasts and an egg florentine. There was a mix-up with the eggs in both full breakfasts, and we felt awkward at the table, eventually accepting what we didn’t want. The haggis was very mushy—almost like a pâté. Perhaps it’s a matter of personal taste, but neither of us enjoyed it. When I mentioned this to the server, my concern was dismissed. The bread that came with the dish was similar to Mother’s Pride, which was disappointing when sourdough was listed on the menu. Overall, the food quality and staff interaction have declined since my last visit a few years ago. Such a beautiful spot deserves better quality food!

Beautifully located and decorated hotel overlooking the Tay. We had a fabulous room upgrade, which we appreciated. The staff were pleasant and helpful, with one exception being the slightly surly chap who served us breakfast our last morning. However they all need better training, as we had to repeatedly ask for straightforward things such as menus, plates for toast, a second tea bag for an enormous teapot etc. Sounds minor but it was a constant theme throughout our stay and irritating. Food and drink was a real all or nothing. Some aspects were excellent eg taste and presentation of cooked breakfast, a beautifully cooked steak and very tasty, generous fish cake. However other things were poor such as cold porridge, measly scallops starter and a minute portion of chips to accompany the steak. The gin bar had a surprisingly fairly limited list of gins, with the first two we asked for not in stock! When our third choice arrived, it was served in a poor quality tall glass too big for the drink, although it tasted fine. Again sounds minor but if you’re going to promote a gin bar, do it properly. Overall we’d probably consider staying again, but it needs to pull up its socks so that service and delivery matches the high end surroundings.

Seemed to be a bit of confusion as to my room when I checked in. Booking.com had me booked into a double with disabled access, but I was allocated a room on 2nd floor (not that I had an access issue). No explanation given and left to stand at reception whilst the guy ran around up and down stairs before giving me my key. Wasn't exactly welcoming. The room (204) - very dark, no real consideration given about lighting. If you sit at the dressing table, you can't put your make-up on! Hairdryer lead was all knotted. Large mirror blocked the wardrobe. Bathroom - awful shower, no power to it and there was black mould on the sealant. Sink must be partially blocked, water took ages to drain away. Sleep - the blind at the window had stains on it, and let in a strip of light (from an external light), off-putting when trying to sleep. Also draught from the window (and the bathroom one too). Breakfast - okay. Decent pot of tea, didn't get a choice of white or brown bread for toast. No option of cereal or porridge. Went for Taypark breakfast but not the whole thing. Sausages were peppery, bacon very salty, scrambled egg a bit watery, beans lukewarm. Just had couple of bites and stuck to toast and tea. Would I stay here again? No, will just go for Premier Inn next time I'm in Dundee! I had hoped that a bespoke hotel would have higher standards, came away feeling a bit disappointed.

Beautiful property but very disappointing stay Taypark House truly is a stunning property — elegant, grand, and straight out of a fairytale. The beautiful country-style house, lovely gardens, and tasteful interiors instantly impressed us upon arrival. Our room was spacious, clean, and charming — everything we had hoped for. Unfortunately, our stay was heavily overshadowed by a private event happening on the night of our visit. I did receive an email beforehand stating there "may be some disturbance until 11:30 PM" — but what we experienced was far beyond a mild disturbance. It was a full-blown nightclub experience directly beneath our room, with loud music and shouting that went on until midnight, followed by the noise of staff cleaning up long after. The hotel bar was completely packed with party guests, making it impossible for us to even relax or enjoy a drink after a long day of driving. The most concerning part was that party-goers accidentally entered our room — completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one of this caliber. My son struggled to fall asleep with all the noise and chaos happening around us, making it a very stressful night. When I raised my concerns the next morning, I was simply reminded that they had "sent an email" — as if that excused the experience. Was I supposed to cancel my long-planned reservation because of a party I had no control over? Very disappointing customer service for such an otherwise beautiful property. Taypark House has so much potential, but sadly, they fell short on providing a peaceful, relaxing stay for their guests. I sincerely hope management considers improving how they handle private events alongside regular hotel guests in the future.

This afternoon we had afternoon tea - considering the only member of staff was a receptionist, a waiter and cleaned tables and collected money from customers this person was exceptional. The same cannot be said however for the food itself - to sum it up in 1 word 'disgusting.' The scones were old reheated and coated with icing sugar - the cakes were soggy possibly been served before or left in a fridge from the previous day - the bread on the sandwiches was fresh the fillings no quite so good. We were charged £45.00 for this un-edible meal? No thanks - don't worry we won't be back!

Unreliable and poorly managed I booked a stay at Taypark House for a special family trip and had it confirmed multiple times — only for them to cancel part of it last minute due to overbooking. The communication was contradictory and unprofessional, with staff shifting blame to Booking.com and offering no real help. The owner Mr Roach (n est o) told me they’d just move me to a random hotel if I showed up, which is unacceptable after planning a meaningful trip. Mistakes happen, but how a hotel handles them matters — and Taypark House failed completely in that regard.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Hotel Taypark in Dundee. We booked a family room for two nights, and unfortunately, we encountered a significant issue with the heating system during our stay. Upon our arrival on Friday, we immediately noticed that the heating in our room was not functioning. We promptly reported this issue to your staff (manager) at the front desk. We were assured that the heating would be repaired by no later than the following day, Saturday. That was ok for us. Regrettably, despite this assurance, the heating in our room remained non-functional throughout the entirety of the next day. We patiently waited, giving your team ample time to address the problem, but it was not resolved. To make matters worse, one of your employees mentioned that heating issues were not uncommon in the hotel, which was rather concerning. Considering the premium prices we paid for our stay, this experience was highly disappointing. The lack of a functioning heating system not only made our stay uncomfortable but also resulted in that we are becoming unwell due to the cold temperature in the main room and bath room! While we appreciate the provision of a Dyson heater, it was excessively noisy and did not adequately maintain a comfortable temperature in the room. I believe that such issues should not be a part of a stay at a reputable establishment like Hotel Taypark!!!!

I booked this place for my boyfriend’s birthday — a special night I put real effort into — and I deeply regret it. The moment we walked into the dome, I was mortified. It was absolutely disgusting. The walls were filthy, like they hadn’t been cleaned in months. The seats? Covered in stains and grime — honestly, I wouldn’t let my dog sit on them. I was so embarrassed, I wanted to walk out. I kept apologizing to my boyfriend for dragging him to this dump on his day. The whole setup felt lazy and neglected — like no one there actually cares about the experience they’re offering. Yes, the food and service were decent, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that we were basically eating in a dirty plastic bubble. Totally ruined what should’ve been a beautiful evening. I would never recommend this place to anyone looking for something even remotely special.

This was a place which was a pleasure to visit and was very quirky. On returning back, despite being a nice place the charm had gone. West down and ordered our meals and the menu offered soup and sandwich, which in most restaurants is a special, however, despite being placed as a combo each item is separate, so be warned, it's not cheap £9 for a small bowl of soup and £12 for the sandwich... Got well stung there. After the main we asked if there were any cakes, as there used to be lots of home backing, but this was a no, only scones, despite another table having had afternoon tea with a variety of cakes, and when we enquired about that, we were told that they were not for sale. So we ordered tea and coffee, which arrived, no tea spoons and no sugar so we had to hunt the room for these. The table at this point was still not cleared of our mains so had to clear the table ourselves and by this time the only ones left in the restaurant... Numerous tables still cluttered with dishes. We also had a visitor, a pigeon was flapping about and bouncing off the windows before a customer got hands on and took it to the window, opened and set it free. A trip to the toilets proved interesting, no soap to wash hands, however, there was Listerine mouth wash, who goes to a public place and shares mouthwash, personally found this disgusting. There was also nail polish remover, but no cotton pads or wool to remove the polish. It wasn't until we were paying the bill that we noticed a desert menu, this was not offered to us at all, and having asked for cakes, you'd think this would have been promoted at this point. We then went outside to get some family snaps taken and there were empty glasses and bottles strewn about the place. We were so looking forward to this and it was so disappointing, and the chances of returning is zero.

I don’t recommend you stay here especially if they book you into the outside ground floor room with disabled access. The large front window is right in front of the car park so everyone can see into the room therefore you have to close the blind. The window is continually open at the top, cannot be closed so you hear everything through the day and night. I was awake from 3:30am onwards! There is a small plug in radiator because as the window is open it gets cold. With the blinds pulled down and at least 4/5 lights not working, the room was very dark. It felt like you were inside a dungeon. No wardrobe to hang trs or a long skirt/dress or coat. Bathroom tiles floor needs a good clean but ultimately needs replacing as it’s very uneven and dirty. We were aware the room had disabled access but had no alternative mirror or sink. They were very low so we had to continually bend to use the mirror and sink. No body soap or hair conditioner, the bathroom only has 4 tiny bottles of hair shampoo. The bathroom large window had the bins or some kind of storage thing behind so no light coming in and unable to open the window. The water slowly went down the drain when showering so possibly blocked drain. The pillows didn’t have protection covers and they had stains on them. I asked to me moved to a different room but I was informed they were all booked. It really was one of the worst rooms I’ve stayed in. I informed the person at the desk when I left and all he did was write down about the lights. He offered no compensation.

Damaged glass bowl and the staff just treated it like it was normal Then took forever to get a manager to attend Then said I must have cracked it Unfortunately this wasn’t the case, will not be back

My family and I went to afternoon tea and while we were there, there was a massive group in, presumably for a Christmas afternoon tea. We were placed in another room, different from what we were originally told we would be in and as we sat and settled down, the service was appalling and they were clearly prioritising the large group with food, drinks and all round service. We were asked at the very start if we would like tea or coffee and that was it, no further offer for a top up and any other drink. The food was pretty basic and just everything felt rushed. The whole atmosphere was very loud and was just hard to hear each other when sitting at a small table of four. Not once did any server come and apologise for the noise or just check up on how we were all doing. We had to go on a mission to find someone just to get a glass of water. We tried multiple times to get someone’s attention to ask for stuff and no one looked at us no one as I said checked in. Honestly felt like we were abandoned. Definitely will not be returning.

Had afternoon tea here for a friend's special birthday...only thing good was the temperature of the room....the sandwiches were bland and boring....cakes were just too sweet and scones were more the size of a Canon ball....really disappointed with the service too. Had to ask for things multiple times...no notes taken for the drinks etc!! We were left without anyone checking if we needed anything ( we were in a separate room).....expected more from the hotel......
