Oak Stave in East Amherst is a great place for lunch, dinner and late night bites too! I love the shrimp po boys! All their food is good quality you cant go wrong with what you order. They have a large bar with great happy hour specials. Free parking out front and takeout is available.

Food was good service and watching other servers interactions with guests were well above par. Fish tacos were not bad, a lil dry not enough sauce. Impossible sliders were really good. Drinks were well made. Vast spirit list, quite impressive tbh 👏 👌 😎

This place just...vibes as soon as you walk in, the details in decor, all the way down to the comfort of seating. The staff was amazing and attentive. Started with pretzel bites and cocktails. The attention to detail was insane. The bread cooked to perfection and the cheese and mustard sauce made it comfortable. The meals were breath taking, we had the burboun burger and the cold smoked salmon for lunch. Again the details in presentation, taste, and inventively in the dishes I would have paid double for them. With leads me to my last conclusion 4 drinks, an app and 2 meals still stay under 100. Very respectful pricing for location and what they have to offer. And don't worry about being a snob about anything because this place has it. Absolutely will go back and absolutely would recommend to go way out of your way to check this place out!!!!

Food and drinks are incredible. They are a little pricey but well worth it! Love going here for any occasion whether it’s meeting friends out or a work party you can never go wrong. All the staff is super nice and everyone knows how to properly take care of customers. Would recommend to anyone!

My parents took me and my husband out for a celebratory dinner of us getting married this Friday. We had prior reservations at another place and were never sat so we left and last minute came here. We were sat right away and given exceptional service. The food was was scrumptious! The pinktini drink was on point as well. I have never had such a perfect, well rounded meal. My husband is a picky eater and he was very satisfied and impressed with the food! Awesome, awesome place to go to! Will definitely be coming back!

First time here. Currently eating my meal and felt the urge to leave a review. I got the smash burger and an old fashioned. Everything I’ve had was presented and tasted incredibly. This old fashioned the best I’ve ever had. Very impressed.

Went with friends on Friday afternoon. Food was good as was the ambience. Sometimes, it takes a while for the order to be served. Liz, our server was fantastic. We had chicken cutlets, Salmon along with pretzel bites and shrimp po- boy along with Old Fashioned Bourbon, Martini and Blueberry limoncello. Will go back again.

We frequently visit this place and always have very positive experience. They have a solid list of good whiskey and house cocktails are usually very good. Service is always attentive and food never disappoints. We usually get burgers or sandwiches but this time ended up ordering steak tortellini. It was delicious and I’m definitely coming back for more!

Great place! We drove by many times and always wondered what it was like so we decided to stop in. They have a great menu and also some Chef specials. Everything was great--Food, service, ambiance. We definitely recommend stopping in to try them out and we will definitely be back!

Our visit to The Oak Stave was very memorable. Drinks at the bar were great! Once we got to our table, our server was friendly and efficient for our party of six. All of our food, appetizers and dinners, were delicious and hot. We’ll definitely be back!

They put love into my dish. I am so greatful for the opportunity to dine here. I recommend the truffle fries and chicken milanese. My only real gripe was the music. The music they played clashes with the theme of the interior

S
Sadequs Haque

I love their interior decoration. The food is incredible and isn’t priced absurdly high as the decor would make you think it is. Our server was one of the most competent servers I have encountered. My order was pretty complex and he got everything right. Their truffle fries was excellent. Great place for casual friday night hangout with friends.

Very expensive. A wine was 10 dollars! The food was great however. The burger was huge! The BLT was huge. The bacon was great! There was nothing bad about this experience.

Every dish we ordered was wonderful. The pork chop was sooo moist. The steak tortellini was delicious. Had an old fashioned so good I had to order another. Really great value for the money.

One of the best places to eat in east Amherst. I highly suggest the coffee cake dessert. This is a good setting for all ages. I would come here again.

Was a bit pricey for everyday but very nice option for date night. The food is amazing! Got the loganberry wings and chicken tacos. Freaking bomb. Best food I've had out in a while! The place looks amazing, the atmosphere and decor is really nice. Also our waiter, Noah, was amazing and pleasant!

We had a wonderful time at the Oak Stave for my husband’s birthday. The food was delicious and there were only people at the bar so the dining room area was very quiet and chill. The stave wings were so good, especially with the sauce. But the real star of the show was Liz. She was handling everyone at the bar plus our table and did so effortlessly. She was kind, patient, gave great menu recommendations, and she cared about making sure we had a positive experience. Liz is worth going back for every time!

J

The service was great. They had live music, which we enjoyed, and 1 of the best fishfrys in town! The extensive list of Whisky and Bourbon is top-notch, I had the Eagle Rare 10 year old, highly recommended! We will be back!

Great friendly and attentive service from all of the waiters and waitresses. We started with the hot pretzel with beer cheese and mustard. It was very large and the mustard was sweet and delicious. Drinks were the Cucumber Dill Paloma and the Berry Mule. The mule was refreshing and mixed well. The Cucumber Dill was adventurous and I was not disappointed. We ordered a Salmon Picatta special with parmesan orzo. Salmon was hot and crispy. Cooked well. The orzo was a bit tasteless and disappointing but nothing that ruined the star on the plate, the salmon. The other order was the Nutty Spicey Burger. The burger was cooked perfectly and bigger than we thought it would be. Huge actually. The bacon was noticably thick and crispy with a prominent smokey flavor which really made this burger better than your average restaurant. I will be returning and excited to try the rest of their creations!

Food was OK, the french onion soup was a bit too salty. The Salmon was a bit dry. Chicken was excellent, service was good.

I know it was just “take-out” but the Chicken Milanese for a $30 dish, was just plain sad. A handful of arugula, and two small chunks of chicken? The smash-burgers were tasty, but with so many good places around the area for dinner, I don’t know if we’ll choose the Oak Stave again soon. I really miss the place this used to be.

Tried this place for the first time with my husband last night after hearing goods things. The food was good but service definitely needs improvement to say the least. We order cocktails, an appetizer and our meals. Our waiter Jason, supposedly forgot to put in our food order and after waiting/watching other 2 person tables around us order, eat and leave we wondered. Finally he admitted his mistake and said he would have the kitchen rush our order, but then also blamed the kitchen saying there were only 3 chefs 😐 We finally got our food and my husband's burger was so burnt and dry that he had to send it back. We were told by Jason it wouldn't be a long wait for another burger, but it was probably at least another 20min because I finished my meal. My husband received a new burger that was properly cooked and by that point we just decided to box it up and leave. Upon getting our check we were disappointed that nothing was taken off our check for the long wait or overcooked burger. Needless to say it'll be awhile for we return to this establishment to give it another chance if at all.

This place used to be a 5 star for me, but today I paid $13 for a side salad. Apparently they changed their menu, but what I ordered was carried over from their previous menu so I expected the size and quality to be the same....this was far from the case. The portion of the salad was cut in half!! They also got rid of the mac-n-cheese, which is why my kids like to go here. They got burgers and fingers instead, which were just ok. Very disappointed, especially for $85.

The food was ok. The tacos were too juicy & messy. The southwest egg roll was very good. Quick service & a nice selection of drinks. The patio was a nice size& shaded.

Very very loud inside. Loud music and loud acoustics. We eat out often and we have never been in a restaurant that is this loud.

J
Jennine Keller

I want to like this place so bad but it just seems to always disappoint. The atmosphere is great but the food isn't. The kids flatbtead was extremely mushy with too much cheese. The bang bang shrimp were mush inside. The smash burger had no sauce and was very greasy. Just not great. At the end we asked for our ice cream from the kids meal and they said they ran out, nothing for the kids and no substitute. After a mediocre meal I would hoped it would end good. Sadly the closest restaurant to where we live is just subpar. Beautiful inside tho!

I read the menu and couldn't wait to try the food here, the descriptions sounded so good!! My friend drove an hour to get this food and paid $75 and it was freaking terrible. We ordered the pretzel with beer cheese, the brussel sprouts, the Philly cheese steak egg rolls, the fish fry, and the spicy nutty burger. We also had a side of truffle parmesan fries and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were actually good. The truffle fries are frozen french fries that were so completely saturated in oil that they were all stuck together in one giant clump. The burger was okay, nothing to write home about but what was disappointing is the toppings, wilted lettuce, mushy tomato, it was supposed to come with peanut butter and jalapeno jam, I didn't see any peanut butter at all and the jalapeno jam was the size of a quarter right in the center of the burger, why even bother putting any on at all. Although the bacon on the burger did have a good flavor. Was hoping the brussel sprouts would be great based on the description but they were bland and greasy. The pretzel was nothing great, auntie Anne's has way better pretzels because they're fresh baked, I suspect this was frozen and the beer cheese was just meh. Philly cheese steak egg rolls were bland, the steak inside had no flavor, the outside egg roll part was so greasy, and they need to change the oil in their deep fryer because the things that were fried like the egg rolls and the fish Fry tasted so dirty, like the oil was old and dirty. I took one bite of the fish fry and couldn't even eat it, it just tasted like dirty fryer oil. We were both disappointed at the low quality of food for such a high price. Would never go back here! we had a to go order and the food was ready at the time we said we would pick it up, which was nice, but the quality of food was extremely disappointing.

Never go to a restaurant on a holiday. Staff was overwhelmed, food was warm, not hot, music was so loud we needed to shout.

Love this place in the past. They had some excellent dishes that were to die for. Unfortunately haven’t been here in about a year. Decided to come here with my son and wife. Cosmo had so much triple sec I had to order a side glass of cranberry to wash it down. As for the food, the smash burger, my kid liked. my wife and I had the chicken Melanies, which was awful. Burnt, dry deep-fried, and tasteless. The servers were nice. Disappointed at their dinner menu. only had four main dish items the rest were handhelds. Seems like they got rid of their High quality chef . Saddens me to say, but I will not be back

Food is pretty good but service stinks. If you order take out, you might as well go 30 min after they tell you or will be waiting a very long time.

Was excited to get there and get a table right away. There was a reason for that. The atmosphere is pretty nice, the service was pretty good but I'm writing this because the food was not good. As my son and I waited for our dinner, I couldn't believe how empty the restaurant was. We started with the pretzels, which were fair. I ordered the lime chicken tacos, and my son ordered the nachos. First off, the menu says they are served in a soft shell tortilla, but it came out crunch... the chicken was okay, but it was unbelievably dry. My son had the nachos that looked like they dumped Tostitos store bought tortilla chips with a teeny bit of cheese and lumps of chicken. It's not a good experience, which is a shame given its nice atmosphere and good service. Won't be back, unfortunately.

so many better restaurants with much better food such as Glen Patk Tavern. This was pretty disappointing. Service was great .

Used to come to this place a lot before Covid unfortunately all the good memories stopped there. Food was very hit or miss some we had to move to another table because it smelled so bad. Seems they have a bad pan or grill in the back. Chicken and steak all come charred and just smell burnt and uneatable from whatever they use to cook it. Pulled chicken is just mush with no flavor but also somehow dry. 4 out of 5 of us didn’t even eat and got food on the way home instead. Then at the end we wanted Red Bull to go but where given to us warm and opened which really defeats the purpose of to go. Guess all the recent reviews are actually accurate. Really sad considering how good this place used to be. Not sure if management or chief change but whatever it was needs a drastic change or I would’ve surprised to see this place actually last given its current state.

Tywanda Timmons

Service was pretty slow. Never got refills. Waiter only came to our table when we saw him walking by. Food was mid. Burger was okay but not seasoned or crispy like you expect for a smash burger. Tacos were okay but the chicken was bland. Overall experience was a 3.

C
Chris Bevacqua

The food was honestly near inedible. The amount of salt on my table's food was ridiculous; half of our table couldn't finish their meal because the salt flavor dominated everything else. I initially thought it was just my fish and chips, but the other people in my party said their food was also horribly salty. The service was ok, but the server didn't tell us about happy hour deals and we only found out from our receipt that they were only applicable at the bar. The atmosphere was alright, aside from the fact that whenever a car pulled into a spot in the lot their headlights shined right into the eyes of half our table. I'm not sure if they don't have blinds or just didn't want to pull them down, but it was annoying to have things interrupted by blinding light every few minutes. Honestly won't be going back.

D
David Parker

Got to seat ourselves because no one was avaiable at the host station for 5 min. The service was slower than the speed of smell. The fries were 50/50 potato/salt. Its a shame because when they first opened they were great. Was the only place we called without a wait, and now we understand why. This place sucks.

Had dinner on Friday 11-14-25. Food took forever . Tacos were bland and cold. Wife had their Surf and Turf, steak was cooked med well but was ordered med rare and everything on the plate was cold. They re-cooked the surf and turf and was fine but by that time we just wanted to go.

B

We were seated immediately. It took a while for someone to take our drink order. They were out of the Hayburner beer and the Bread&Butter Chardonay that we wanted. It took forever to take our food order. Then, it took forever to get our dinners. The waitress even asked us if we wanted desert. We said that we didnt even have dinner yet!! My husband ordered the special, Steak Frites for $38, which was supposed to be tenderloin and fries with a pepper cream sauce. The order came with a truffle sauce instead. My husband HATES truffles!!!!! I ordered the southwestern chicken ceaser wrap. It was supposed to have romaine, Parmesan, pico, jalapeño, black beans, and tortilla chips. It was terrible! It was 90% lettuce with a few pieces of tasteless chicken. I swear the chicken had zero seasoning. There were no jalapeños or tortilla chips. It had like a tablespoon of pico and a few black beans. It was awful!! I couldn't even eat it. I pulled the few pieces of flavorless chicken out to give to my dog. This place is way overpriced and the quality and quantity are bad! We will never waste our money here again!

My food was cold and the portions for the amount of money i’m paying is insane. $30 for a small proportion. Just isn’t worth it. My wings were also cold and service was just okay for how dead it was

Went there on a Saturday night and were wondering that they got open tables. Not anymore. We had chicken Milanese dinner and were very disappointed. Salad out of the box, no vinaigrette, chicken low quality, dried out, no seasoning and burned breaded crumbs. Not worth $28! The drinks vodka and tonic were watery, no tonic at all, service slow in the beginning Loads of room to improve. However, the layout and ambiance is fine. We will not come back.

What is with the DJ???? We haven't been here since last fall. Our fault. There was music, but no loud obnoxious music from a dj back then. Food was great. Everything else, well.... not so much. Sorry. We used to love it here.

B

Food has gone downhill since they opened. Got a chicken wrap, with 90% lettuce and only few small pieces of chicken with no flavor. Very overpriced food, service also was not great.

One Star: When Price and Pride Part Company Writing this affords me no satisfaction. Kitchens are demanding ecosystems and perfection is aspirational rather than guaranteed. What arrived, however, was not an unfortunate slip of the wrist. It was the product of conscious decisions. Something selected, overexposed to heat, and resigned to a plastic box without care or visible respect for the craft of cooking. I reach for the keyboard reluctantly, only because every single element of the order merited one star. Not one component so much as brushed against even a dismal second. I understand the velocity of service, the theatre of flame, the occasional wobble that creeps in under pressure. This was not a wobble. It was a quiet surrender of standards. At this price point, that is indefensible. Maple Glazed Salmon arrived looking as though flame had been applied with overexuberance rather than judgement. One piece was noticeably thinner and smaller than the other, both driven well past the point of doneness, the exterior darkened to a char that suggested enthusiasm outpaced restraint. I did not feel compelled to taste it. Visually alone, it signalled dryness. At $31.50 per plate, one expects refinement, not a sliver of cinder. The jasmine rice appeared as a reluctant scattering of dry grains pressed apologetically into the corner of the container. The broccoli was limp and over oiled, curiously joyless, as though it had surrendered somewhere between the sauté pan and the takeaway tray. Nothing on the plate suggested attention, balance or pride. It looked fatigued. Fries arrived crowned with pork, a detail insufficiently communicated. In a professional kitchen, key ingredients should not be surprises. These are merely the standouts. The full order missed the mark entirely. The final bill stood at $192. A figure that suggests a kitchen in full command of itself. The food suggested otherwise. The disparity between price, pride and performance was striking. We telephoned the restaurant. The manager was unavailable and we were directed to the head chef, who informed us he was not in the kitchen at the time. During that exchange, we were told the salmon is portioned at six ounces. The plates delivered suggested otherwise. He acknowledged the standard was poor and agreed to a refund. The gesture was noted. It did not restore the evening. Having boxed the order back up, we returned the following day so the manager might admire the fish of his kitchen’s labour. It seemed only fair that he become reacquainted with it. The manager, we were told, was away. The head chef was nowhere in sight. In lieu of the previously discussed refund, we were offered a gift card and informed that reimbursement was not possible due to a policy agreement with DoorDash. It is a curious modern phenomenon that responsibility diminishes in direct proportion to the involvement of a delivery platform and not the food served out of the kitchen. Overall, the service lacked any real warmth, but the deeper issue was the absence of pride. Cooking is not merely heat applied to produce. It is judgement, timing, care and, ultimately, love of the craft. Whether plated for a dining room or boxed for delivery, a dish should carry the imprint of that discipline. This order bore no such imprint. The Oak Stave, do better. A guest is a guest, whether beneath your lighting or at their own table. The standard should travel with the food. If your looking for a culinary experience, I'd look elsewhere.

Rachel L

Fire everyone and bring back whoever made the streak tip tortellini. Seriously WHEN did this place become terrible? When they first opened, they had actual plates of food - big portions, flavorful and fresh, and actually worth the price. Not anymore. Also the service is super slow.

I ordered the rib eye bomber with sweet potato fries. When the meal came, my steak was very well done and the cheese was just slapped on the sandwich. It wasn't even melted. The manager Brandy was extremely rude when she came to the table. My friend had the Caesar salad and it had no cheese or croutons on it. It was basically lettuce. She asked if she could get her something else; my friend had to eat it because she's on a special diet. Brandy said to her, "Well if you don't like it, why are you eating it?" This is the kind of people you hire to manage your restaurant? Her behavior was deplorable; not professional at all.

First time guests. Arrived and sat immediately on a Sunday night. Only one other table was filled and some people at the bar (which made us wonder but we assumed it was due to it being after a Bills game). Got pretzel bites which tasted like they were frozen box bites heated up. Husband ordered burger with only lettuce, mayo, and cheese due to dietary restrictions and I ordered the fish fry. Waited 40 min. Food came out and husbands burger had everything on it he had asked to not have on it and my fish fry was mushy and soaked in oil. We had somewhere to be after dinner and didnt have time to wait for things to be remade. Asked server to take burger off the bill due to it being chef error and we would pay for the fish even though I was not going to eat it because I understand that it is taste preference vs error. Manager came over and asked what the issues were. We explained and I was told that my fish looks like it was cooked to perfection. We politely asked for the bill and that we were leaving. Currently sitting at Panera getting dinner after spending $45 on frozen pretzel bites and a mushy/oily fish fry. Will not be returning and explains the empty restruant on a weekend.
