Best burger I've had in 20 years!
Food is always delicious, hot food hot, large portions, friendly and efficient staff
The food is great and the people who work here are very nice.
Got to see Santa, enjoyed the food and the host was lovely.
Always a good time here with great food at awesome prices
Great home cooking. Real homefries for breakfast, not shredded mush.
Food was great.a blast from the past Wonderful service.
Awesome spot, great service and very accommodating!
I love this place - it’s adorable and cheery on the inside, the service is friendly and fast and the food is great!
What a lovely experience. Friendly staff, excellent food, beautiful location. And the cheese cake!
I had the most wonderful conversation this afternoon with Tonya (sorry I forgot your name it'd my age.) You are a great person! The turkey dinner was delicious! Thank you! Cathy
I had a lovely supper, and I don’t know if I enjoyed the food or the atmosphere more. 💖
A must for any vintage diner fan. Worth the drive. Great food, friendly staff, nice size portions!
When you think of “the classic American diner” well here it is … Staff are nice ,food excellent and atmosphere is what one would want when going to the diner
Blueberry pancakes were good. Pretty busy Sunday morning. Easy parking. Good value.
Staff is friendly! Service is great! We love Prime Rib Special on Fridays! Their Breakfast is very good, too!!!
What a fun dinner. The menu was small, but the experience was worth it!
Had the most amazing turkey reuben from the deli. Definitely worth stopping by.
Awesome classic diner. Reasonably priced good food. The French Dip was delicious.
Wonderful food, good service, quiet relaxing environment. A nice break from New York's loud and rushed lifestyle.
This was a fantastic place to stop and eat while riding around the back roads of Dutchess and Columbia Counties. It's unfortunate that they CLOSED!!!. THEY ARE CLOSED.
Love the new(ish) menu and the physical space is perfect. Everything you'd want in a diner.
Been going since day one food is great great service and if your lucky you might see the eagle
Food, coffee, and service was excellent! Great tucked away little spot with a solid menu variety.
Great place for any meal. Our men's group from church has breakfast there once a month.
Great food...great service...great price. One of the best diners I've been to in a long time.
Super great place food is good people are very courteous very very nice place to go and have something to eat everyone should try it
We went for dinner yesterday service and food was excellent..the waitress Shannon was spot on!
Food was excellent. We stopped by while driving around
Very good food, ordered to go on a busy day and was satisfied with my burger.
Been coming here for years. Loved it before the updated menu and now it's even better!
Fresh yummy food, sometimes a live band! Fun atmosphere
Tasty food, reasonably priced, with lots of local ingredients.
Worth making a detour for! The interior is brought back to life in all of its retro diner glory, but the food is a step above typical diner fare. Well priced, friendly staff, and a very fun, funky upstate experience. Highly recommend.
The diner is under new management and it's immediately noticeable how much effort has been put into every detail. The menu, vibes, staff and food were all perfect. Can't wait to go back!
i miss this place so much i hope they come back..
My wife and I just enjoyed a wonderful brunch here today with family. Really enjoyed playing the jukebox and the bloody Mary’s. Chocolate pancakes also delicious!
Great modern food in a beautifully restored period diner. A huge menu with lots of choices and great location. Can’t wait for the warm weather to be able to sit out by the lake.
What a gem! From the welcoming service to delicious food, all are sure to leave completely satisfied. Will definitely be back. I ordered the Greek Omelette.
The Elizaville Diner is a fantastic dining experience. The place is spotlessly clean and it was a fun time eating in a 1950s style diner. Will be back again and again. You can tell the food is made with care and passion.
A wonderful diner! They have so many delicious menu items and hope to be back when I visit.
Amazing place to eat! Food is authentic and the feel is retro and different. A good neighborhood restaurant unique menu and most importantly, great service
I've heard about their eggs benedict, so we took a drive from Schoharie out to Elizaville and it was totally worth it. We will definitely be going there again. Cute little old school diner, super nice waitress and cook, who came out to ask us how everything was, and she food was top notch.
Lovely experience, sweet waitstaff, interesting takes on standard dishes. I enjoy going there for breakfast and lunch offerings.
This is the cutest diner I’ve ever been to! So authentic and classic. I had the eggs Benedict and a vanilla bourbon milkshake, so so good!!!
Picked up meatball parmesan and chicken parmesan subs. Both were excellent and made quickly. Excellent stop for food after having just been at Sloop Brewery up the road before a long trip home.
I've been to almost every Diner in the Hudson Valley, but none has quite the charm, diverse tasty food options, friendly service, and reasonable prices, as the Elizaville. I hope it stays for years to come. Give it your business.
Ordered the ribeye special and it was amazing. The waitress was very courteous and very professional. It was my first time eating there but it won't be my last!
It is great to be able to say, "Let's meet at the diner." again. ps the front doors open smoothly now, and that sets the tone for the easy peaceful place it is.
very cool place! Thank you for your kindness and attentiveness! I was expecting the menu to be typical, it was everything but that! A real quality and chef like touch to it. You took some classic comfort food and gave me a nice experience. And I like to eat! Thought it was cool, then I was educated about the history, and wow. Thanks for the pleasure.
Highly highly recommend! Best diner experience we’ve had in a while! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Everything was delicious with high quality ingredients. Awesome classic diner experience with great staff and chef. Will definitely be back!!
This place is the best. It’s under new management and they have done wonders. The menu is amazing, everything we have had has been so delicious and fresh. Atmosphere, service, music and vibes is perfection. This place is going to be our new regular diner from here on out, definitely recommend.
The food was good. I had a very tasty omelet made to order with perfectly toasted sourdough on the side. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The building is a charming old-fashioned diner, kept clean and comfortable.
Honest review/ Tonight i ordered a large cheese pizza with a side of bbq wings, and ohh my goshh.. Pure Heaven! The wings had the perfect amount of sauce with a crispy crunch, and were so well seasoned. 10/10 My pizza clearly as showed had the right amount of sauce, and a beautiful layer of cheese with a nice thin crust that had a bit of a crunch, but still soft and fluffy. Amazing hands down. Yall did amazing!!
The sandwiches were fantastic! The new chef is wonderful! The folks at the deli/convenience store were awesome! Great company while waiting for our delicious food! Thanks for making our trip to Elizaville more fun!
Food was jus how I pictured it, Look at dez HUGE mozzarella stix! 😍😋 Wish I wasn't so tired from traveling n engaged more with the lovely staff there. Felt like a tight lil community friendly n kind. O! Also check out the Deli store next door! They sell all sorts of canned drinks! @Mela
This quaint little diner packs a big punch with its delicious food and desserts. My boyfriend and I have tried just about everything on the menu (we go there a lot) and everything is delicious! The service is great and the servers are amazing, so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. What’s nice too, if you want something made not on the menu, they’ll make it for you. They’re very accommodating. As for dessert, they have the best carrot cake, along with other treats. I just love this diner and I recommend it to everyone! We were just there today for lunch, it was great, and we’ll be back next weekend!
We stopped by the deli on our way to visit family and it was so good, we all decided to give the diner a try. I love the care the new owners have put in! The original jukebox is restored, the menu is classic but elevated, the cocktails are delicious and you can leave with a quote or a poem from the cookie jar! Just all around good vibes and tasty food. So glad to have some more food options and support small businesses rather than chains.
Just went with a party of 3 adults and 4 children and it was great! Lovely staff! DELICIOUS food !! I got the Lenny and WOW sooo good ! Their fries so fresh and crispy !! The coffee strong and just what I needed as a mom haha. Defiantly will be the place to get breakfast or lunch very often! Hidden Gem !
I have been going to diners in the northeast all my life and I was so impressed by Elizaville. Absolutely delicious food, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful space. The chef's attention to quality shines through in the dishes. We ordered the pancakes and hash and both were made from scratch. Coffee was fantastic and I just can't say enough good things. Can't wait to go back!!
Love what they’ve done to make this iconic diner sing - gorgeous terrazzo flooring, big bright windows, well-maintained booths. Eating here is an experience that shouldn’t be missed. The cocktail list is fun, and there is an extensive diner menu. Can’t wait to try the veggie burger next time.
Nice place, good food and pizza. Great place for Sunday breakfast.
Quaint atmosphere, good food, great wait staff.
Friendly service in an original dinner . And the food is good, too.
Went here after seeing the diner in the movie The Dead Don't Die. Food was very good and staff was friendly. Even though we were clearly outsiders, we were treated like locals.
Great little deli/store! The food is good & reasonable. Theyre usually fast getting it together too... Pizza is not very good, but anything else is A+.. :)
Tiny place, next to the Elizaville Deli. Service was fast and friendly. Food came out tasty and quick. Everything you expect from a small town diner!
Good selection of daily specials, home cooked soups. Nice clean old style diner.
This place is picture perfect. The American diner dream. Chrome plating, the perfect linoleum counters, and those placemats that have all sorts of ads. There was only one waitress on a weekend brunch time, but she worked quickly, and the food came out really fast. To be fair, it was good and the portion was generous. It wasn’t anything spectacular. I’d happily go back in the area!
Just moved into the area and had a good dinner there and some great burgers for lunch the following day. Dated interior, but friendly staff and good service. Also there is a great deli attached which carries a decent selection of beers and other items.
It was okay...sort of run down and tired looking. Servers also looked run down and tired. Menu was okay - not as lengthy as many other diners. But, the waitress was friendly and attentive.
Wasn't too impressed, kids had spaghetti dinner & they didn't care for the meatballs & it wasn't true spaghetti. Hubby didn't care for turkey dinner & my turkey dinner I asked for no gravy on potatoes or meat & they poured it on. Had to wait another 10-15 min & all they did was wash the gravy off put it on new plate & reheat. GROSS.
Very dated decor... Broken stools, and chairs... Very friendly waitress... I had the French dip (10$) tasty, good meat with French fries. Good fries... Parents had spaghetti w sausage and meatballs... Spaghetti sauce was chunky but lots of water on plate... Meatballs and sausage were both hard and tasted like they had been cooked multiple times. Not recommend
I used to visit weekly. There was some ownership changes - menu got smaller and prices went WAY up. I now travel a few extra minutes and go to Redhook Diner (the one next to Dunkin Donuts - great food with good prices- attentive wait staff) Maybe when better weather comes Elizaville diner will go back to the old menu and prices. $15 for a burger is too much in a small town like this.
There was four of us 2 of us Had ordered hamburger and fries I had ordered the chicken wings and one of the person ordered fish 45 minutes later which is unacceptable. There were 2 Other couples dining in And 2 orders to go They were not that busy Like I said Unacceptable
I was in the area and decided to order ahead for quick pickup. The sandwich was school cafeteria quality and very overpriced. Service was really slow because apparently a bunch of people called out that day. The staff were nice but the food was disappointing. Definitely not worth the long wait or the price. I understand that emergencies happen and people do call out, but the management should have handled it appropriately and stopped taking online orders if they were not able to handle it.
1 hour waiting time for the food... My bad experience 😕
They forgot to make our order for over an hour and then instead of apologizing for the mistake, pretended our food was just taking a long time to make. Tsk tsk Food was just okay
Bought a soap supposed to be broccoli cheddar look like baby food it was very gritty and nasty
It’s better to eat at home ! Or go to a real diner. The management and cook have no idea how to run a restaurant and try to shame dissatisfied customers. Chicken sandwich was burnt not once but twice, it looked like it had been forgotten in the fryer and rediped and fried again to try and cover the scorch. The Bloody Mary was not good and tasted like all the seasonings were left out other than horseradish, think tomato soup with horseradish. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. The “chef” and I use that word loosely came out at the end and was hostile and claimed “ I have a new girl back there, I make a great chicken sandwich. Did you cut it in half.” This confused me, due to the fact that the chicken was burnt on both sandwiches Buttermilk breading shouldn’t be black. I hope the new owners take a more active role to address the quality issues. Response to owners reply: My friend didn’t like the sandwich either and never said it was great.he was starving after waiting 45 minutes for food so ate it anyway. The cook didn’t come out to make anything better she was hostile and rude. She made an excuse about a new cook and then claimed she made the best sandwich and then told me to cut it in half like that would unburn the sandwich. Getting snippy and telling people not to come back is a bad business model especially when your food is sub par. You really shouldn’t try and shame people and lie about what other people say especially if you weren’t there. How do o know you weren’t there? Because any real restaurant owner that sees food go back not once but twice would have come over and addressed the issue themselves. The fact that you lie about your customers shows that you don’t have the temperament or skills to run a public facing business.I hope you work out the kinks in your operations .
Since the deli has been removed from Google, (probably due to Katrin's backlash of her outburst on Facebook) I'll leave this here since they have the same owners.. The owner Katrin is not a good business owner. She has personally lashed out at the public on public platforms. I have attached some screenshots of some of her responses to the public. Very unprofessional and immature. I supported this business until she showed her true colors. Not friendly and very rude. Would not recommend.
Worst dining experience I’ve had. We sat for almost half an hour before flagging down a waitress to take our drink order. 4 adults and 1 child, every single meal was wrong. Nothing came out at the same time and as we sent everything back, it was ALL wrong the second time AGAIN. The cook refused to put my BLT on wheat instead of rye because “that’s not how he makes it”. Everything was awful. We will never go here again and do not recommend it.
Not a fan of pre sliced deli meat that have sat in a 6 pan for more than 5 days before being slapped on some old hard rolls. Clearly slacking since your "deli" is only making pizza and "pre packaged" meals. Best wishes on moving your ridiculous inventory to us local "Walmart shoppers"
Came for breakfast with my wife for the first time since the new owners and had a horrible experience, it started with the music that was so loud we couldn’t hear each other talking, second was my wife asked for a BLT with no tomato and was told she couldn’t order that before 11 am….really?? Toast with bacon and lettuce that is served for breakfast normally???? And last, not once did the waitress come over and ask us if everything was okay or if we needed or wanted anything else!
Stopped for dinner. Place was sweltering no air conditioning. Rude waitress only had one menu although there was only one other table in use with a party of 4. Food was ok. Seemed to take awhile for my salad and a burger for my husband but it could have been the fact it was extremely hot in there. There was a sign stating if you showed them you posted about them on social media you'd get a discount but there's Absolutely no service there either. Waitress never brought the check to the table when I finally walked up to the register she rang in a total into the register never showed me a check/bill nothing I did the average math in my head bill seemed close to right so I paid and left without leaving a tip. Won't ever return.
There for Breakfast 8am when just opened. Pancakes dry. Eggs dry, bacon hard as a rock had white where the grease dried on it, toast cold. We were the only ones there. Waitress not very attentive. Had to ask twice for napkins. She did not ask how food was, didn't ask us if we wanted drink refills. Flies flying around and dead bugs on window sills. Diner needs a good cleaning and seats and ceiling need repairs.
This place needs to be audited by the State! They consistently charged a 4% fee on DEBIT card transactions! That's illegal in all 50 States.
Been at this deli several times. It's interesting because I've written posts about the rudeness of the staff on several different Google pages for the deli which makes me think that they get new ones. Have been to the deli on several occasions, and the staff is always super uninterested in helping you as well as exceptionally rude. It's really unfortunate when you want to support your local mom and Pop shop because the staff make you not want to return.
Looks like changing their name deleted my review. This is city people trying to make it in the country and raising prices double. Now they’re calling themselves a film location? So city people trying to have a quiet, comfortable, rural place be bothered by large film industry. Absolutely WOULD NEVER support them. I hope the sand and gravel lot next door is loud every time they try to bring some city nonsense here. Calling me ignorant when you raised your prices, and changed your name so reviews would go away, AND ARE CITY PEOPLE. Idc that one of you went to HS up near here because your mindset is city because that’s where you’ve all been for most of your lives. You LITERALLY state you want to bring NYC business up here. Did you even read the article from the Daily Catch that you all are quoted in???? You got Stern and Redfern who founded a BROOKLYN film company, BRINGING AND ADVERTISING (NO DOUBT) IN THE CITY TO BRING MORE CITY PEOPLE UP. You got Hoefinger who actually spent time in this area growing up (and does really important work, so I’ll give her that), but works and pretty sure lived mostly in NYC and other countries after school…so hasn’t been a local or country specific mindset since maybe 2-3 decades ago. You now don’t have anything in stock for some reason and your staff says you couldn’t cut it cause of your changes. I’m a local, and I know of plenty of other locals that hate what you’re doing. You’re literally city people trying to change a small town deli and diner into a retro Brooklynite paradise. You even stated you’re trying to make it a destination area for visitors. HOW AM I IGNORANT???? And what’s with the film location? We are trying to keep our country atmosphere country. PLEASE SELL THIS TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO KEEP THE SMALL TOWN FEEL. Also, I hope your visible neighbors protest the town. I’m up the road by about .1mi and I will absolutely drive 10mi into town just so I don’t have to support your GENTRIFICATION. Good lord - absolutely NO RESPECT FOR US LOCALS.
Two of us came in around 11:30am and waited 1hr 45 minutes for our food. Everyone around us was getting coffee refills but us. When we finally asked for a refill, a taller older waitress named Carrie was extremely disrespectful as if we were an inconvenience. Even when she gave our food she didn’t ask us if we needed anything else or to enjoy our food. However, she was super jolly with the folks next to us and even gave them something on the house because of the wait….yet we were there way before them. Extremely uncomfortable and not friendly at all. I’ve worked in the restaurant business for a long time and this lady was just extremely unprofessional. Also, the time our food came out, it was cold. They need to hire better staff.
We stopped by today around 11am. We've been to this diner many times before. Today they were very busy, and it took time for us to order our food. Usually we've been pleased with the food, but today the coffee tasted burnt. I ordered the chicken wings with a mild sauce. When the wings came and I tasted one which was swimming in sauce, the sauce was very HOT, not mild. I couldn't eat them, sent them back and explained to the waitress why. I didn't want to wait another half an hour for more wings, so we left. My husband as and I are very disappointed, and we wonder if they have a new cook. We always had good food there before, but today it was terrible. I don't think we'll be back there!
If this posted more than once, my apologies. I didn’t see it post, so I rewrote it and posted again. I placed an order over the phone for a wrap, a sub, 2 sandwiches and 2 hot subs. I was told the order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I arrived 30 minutes later. It wasn’t ready. I said are you kidding, I was told 15-20 minutes. She said that they were working on the last two items. I asked how long it would be. She went to ask and told me 10 minutes for those items. I said I was told 15-20 minutes, I have people arriving at my house in 10 minutes, and I went to wait. A few minutes later a man approached me and introduced himself as the manager. He stated that I ordered 7 items and that 3 items take 15 minutes and that since I ordered more I should expect them to take longer. He also said that I was nasty to the staff, that he saw it on the video camera. He said that the staff is well paid, and that I should be ashamed as a woman that I spoke to another woman that way, especially in front of his young daughter. He went on to reiterate that more items take longer and told me more than once while pointing to the parking lot that if I didn’t like it, I could leave. I tried to explain my point of view, but he walked away, clearly not interested. Was I upset that my order wasn’t ready, even after arriving 10 minutes later than quoted, yes, but I was not nasty. If their standard is 15 minutes for 3 items, it would make sense for the employee to give me a longer wait time when I placed the order for 6 items. I was shocked at the way he spoke to me. In all honesty, when he approached me I thought he was going to apologize for the wait, because at this point it was 40 minutes. I will say that the owner did a nice job reinventing the space. I did leave empty handed though, as I will not patronize a business with a manager who would speak to a customer in that tone and fail to listen to their point of view. I do find it interesting that he didn’t have any difficulty speaking to a woman the way he did.
I used to love this diner and figured I would give it a shot after the new owners bought it and redid it. Unfortunately like many other places in the area, the people that bought it made the prices higher and the food worse. What’s the point of buying a place hiring a chef and redoing a menu and having the potatoes taste like dirty water? Couldn’t even eat them. It’s sad this place lost all of its charm and then I hear the owners from Brooklyn are talking trash about locals. This place was so special and is now ruined. Will never come back to this spot that I used to frequent. //replying to the owners comment: Potatoes come with your two egg breakfast. I went there, been there many times. I live right on Jackson corners. Not sure who told you to respond to customers who don’t like the food by tell them they are wrong but it make you look worse and guarantees there will be no improvement on quality. Why don’t you focus on listening to your customers instead of getting on here and sounding insane?
