My friends and I stopped here for brunch on a Sunday. We were seated fairly quickly. I ordered a set of two eggs, 2 slices of pancakes, homemade fries, with an add on of a sausage. The food was delicious and portions were bigger than I expected. The waitress that helped us was friendly and attentive. My friends and I had a good experience overall. There’s also a free parking lot for customers.
We love it. Great food. I love the stuffed mushrooms. Portions are superb.
Love the food here. Excellent. And the staff is efficient, funny, friendly!!
Such a friendly atmosphere and really good food, everything about this place was just wonderful. Glad we stopped in during our road trip. :)
Loved the food and the classic American diner vibes! Ty :)
Excellent diner breakfast. Between the 4of us we can confirm that the pancakes and waffles are lovely as are the breakfast sausages. The service is great. We were greeted, seated, and given menus within seconds of walking in the door. And our waitress was excellent.
Great food the staff was friendly it was clean a nice dinner for a quick bite to eat
The Village Diner is a fantastic restaurant, and our favorite place to eat in Saugerties. In particular, their breakfasts are amazing. The Spanish Omelet I had there was one of the best I have ever had. In addition to the great food and reasonable prices, the service is also great, quick, and friendly. The owner, Abraham, and his family are really doing a great job.
Great diner, best I've been to five stars for the diner. Owner is awesome. My only complaint is one male waiter that is rude to the elderly, he should get another job like prison guard. Stay away from the male waiter with earrings zero stars for him.
It's a classic American diner... The food is great and homemade, friendly fast staff... We go whenever we're in town for a quick bite or full breakfast or lunch.
Good food, loved that chicken wrap !
I love coming here for breakfast whenever I travel out. The French toast is delightful followed by their fresh coffee. When it comes to dinner, I enjoy their meals & their comfy atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it, if you ever want some fresh breakfast.
Food was superb. Your standard diner fare, so you know what to suspect. Waitstaff was extremely friendly. But be warned, if you are visiting on a Sunday the wait for a table and for food can get very long. We waited over an hour for our food to be delivered to table, once we had ordered it.
The food was excellent. The service is top notch. The restaurant is clean and well kept. It's a great down home comfort eatery! Highly recommended.
My husband ate here as a little boy before they moved away. We decided to visit while driving through. We split a Buffalo chicken wrap that was excellent. The creme of tomato soup was killer. Tapioca pudding for dessert. Servers were cheeky! We loved it!!!
This place is awesome. Throw back to good times. The whole Staff was super nice. Can't wait to go back.
Best service! Growing up here this diner has been a staple and still as good as it was back then. The true NY diner experience.
Great food. Polite and interactive wait staff. Update: I was there for dinner last night and had the special Lemon Chicken (with angel hair pasta). It was delicious and was enough that I will easily get a second meal from the leftovers I took home.
It’s a home town diner. It’s got the “bar type seating “ at the front, then you have choice of booths or tables. When they get really busy they open the other half of the seating, or if you have a large group they will open it up. Food is good diner food. Prices are reasonable and staff is awesome! Great place to meet up with friends and the owner is cool, hands on and he’s very friendly.
Great spot to stop in for a meal. Coffee was good and food was delicious. Very welcoming staff and atmosphere and cannot beat the price.
Had a wonderful turkey dinner there tonight. Mary the server, was absolutely fantastic. She was all by herself and handled several tables like the pro she is. She definitely wins waitress of the year in our eyes. Would highly recommend going there. Anytime we have eaten there, food n service is pretty good.
Not a truly old school diner but a nice feel, clean and tidy. Menu choices were expansive. Great daily specials. Server was a bit matter of fact, not hospitable, just ding her job.
I went for breakfast with my family, I had a farmers omelet with cheese and of course No mushrooms (i do not like mushrooms) It was delicious!! They were very busy ,it was a rainy Sunday morning Still the service was Awesome!! Our server was great very attentive and friendly even though she had a room full of customers 🙂
This diner has everything you could ever want in diner food. They have a menu that has at least 10 pages to it. That's the way it used to be...I loved having so many choices. The staff made sure they didn't use the food... from food allergies. Thank you for a wonderful experience! Please add chocolate cake... it will fly off your shelves!
This is one of the best diners I’ve been to. The food is fresh and delicious, and the staff is wonderful. There are many options, specials on the weekdays, excellent soups, and a traditional quaint atmosphere. We’ve had the outstanding Greek salad, chicken parmesan, split pea soup, and many other items. The portions are very generous, we are lucky that the space is large because this place does a great business.
Had the grilled chicken portobello mushroom wrap with garlic mayo... was spectacular! Hubby had the omelet with ham and cheese. Everything was so good for a great price and great service!
Love this place. My friends and I wanted to get brunch and were in town. Stopped here and the hungry man is delicious. Great service. Nice people. Clean place and I can honestly say I enjoyed my experience.
Waitress told us our food would be coming from cans and I absolutely love her for her honesty! Otherwise food was as expected for a dinner. Will come back
Great friendly service! The steak and eggs are worth a try! The steak was cooked exactly as I asked, it had good flavor and there was no tough parts only tender flavorful steak in every bite! It comes with two eggs any way you like it, choice of toast and a side of home fry’s. If I lived local, this would be a regular spot for me!
Stopped in for breakfast and it was delicious. Just what we needed for the long drive home. Waitress was prompt and polite, resolved a small issue quickly.
Came with 3 other people for lunch. Had a good experience and food was decent and similar to a typical diner experience.
Terrific value. Great food at reasonable prices.
I wanted to check to see if my grandmother was is the kitchen! The pork loin was juicy ...the stuffing is traditional and savory as opposed to that wet saw dust with apples n’ raisins you get in Greek diners. Real mashed potatoes that didn’t need anything but a fork! If you want comfort food drive past the mediocre diners and find a parking space behind this establishment...you won’t regret it!!!
Great little diner with friendly staff and all your diner favorites , highly recommend
Stopped in for breakfast. Place was clean, food was good, staff was prompt and friendly. The menu had plenty of options and the price wasn't too bad. Very well run Diner!
Didn't take pictures but awesome place. If you are in the area, definitely check out the Italian!
The plates are waaayyyy too big!! Our waitress was amazing and super funny.
This is a legit diner experience. It isn't fancy, it isn't expensive, but the food is absolutely solid. I have yet to order anything that wasn't soul warming good. I highly recommend.
I been going to this diner for many years. Abraham, and his staff has done an amazing job. His food is delicious, his staff are incredible, great tasting food, fast service, and courteous behavior has made it so fantastic to experience. Like visiting a relative, only don’t forget to pay the cashier before you leave. 😁
Not far off the NY Thruway, it’s a great stop for travelers of any kind looking for a good meal and a a few moments of rest. Great food, that wasn’t greasy or heavy on the stomach, and a nice attentive staff that are well beyond patient. Parking is also located behind the building which is a plus.
Typical Diner with large menu. Lunch, dinner and senior specials. Very friendly and attentive staff. I'm not local but the waitresses seem to know the regulars. It's nice to see a everyone happy to see one another. You never go to a diner for gourmet level food. However, so many options, plenty of comfort food choices. You can never go wrong with most diners , always huge portions for a great price. I would recommend.
The food is some of the best I have ever had. You can tell the ingredients are fresh. The waitresses are attentive and sweet. And the service is amazing!
I know I've been here before, thought I did a review, but I guess not, so here we are! The Village Diner meets my ideal criteria for a diner: small, family owned, authentic, unfussy, high quality, clean. Yep. This place has it all... My omelet was huge (just the way I like them) and loaded with fresh ingredients. Cooked perfectly too. The home fries were well done (as I like) and with the added onions, fantastic. Bacon was crispy. English Muffin was decent too. I forget how much I spent but it was reasonable. Service was fast and friendly. This place is like 3.5 hours from home but since I'm up this way frequently, it's on my must-visit breakfast spots. If you like classic American diner food, you won't be dissapointed!
Beautiful old Diner Maybe 1950's everything inside looks original, service was great from the waitress on the left side of the diner and bus boy was very pleasant. Our waitress unfortunately wasn't so nice but we stayed because we enjoy eating at random old diners. Food was delicious will definitely go again someday!! I got the hungry man dish with 3 eggs over easy, 2 pancakes with 2 toasts, 1 sausage, 1 ham, a glass of water and a cup of coffee and my wife had the all American breakfast dish very good food!!
Village Diner is a staple in the Saugerties area. You won’t find anything better! The atmosphere is so relaxing and chill. The Hungry Man Breakfast is my favorite and rather phenomenal! The food is extremely well prepared and provided in a timely manner. The staff is super attentive and friendly. Tables and restaurant are always clean. Plenty of parking and seating available.
Loved the atmosphere. Great food big portions. Went back for dinner and selected from their a fantastic senior menu (55 and up) can't beat it. Should have split the meal with the hubby!
It's a diner. Quiet when we went, food average, service good. Would go again; clean.
This place is a classic diner with all the classic diner options on the menu and not over priced. It's very consistent with the food preparation. French onion soup here is very delicious as is all the other classics.
This definitely give you that small town diner feel. The prices were fine and the food was okay. The wait staff was friendly too. Portions were to large to eat, but that's okay. I did feel kind of crunched in even with the larger table we were at. And I was hot inside despite the air conditioner running. Probably to much sunlight from outside. Overall I would recommend to anyone looking to have a quick bite of some diner food. I didn't try the more complex items on the menu although they looked good. Not bad.
Food was bland service was great. Biggest issue I had was the food ran through me faster than I could finish it. Beware
The service was really great. The staff took our order quickly and was regularly available for refills and additional requests. We were able to substitute various items on the menu. The food was decent. We ordered the pancake platter (Hungry Man: 2 pancakes, eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, and home fries) and the eggs benedict. Everything was really tasty. Good value for the food and service.
Looks like a typical diner, a bit outdated, with the typical diner menu that's like a novel. The bathrooms were clean and the server was very chill. Food was very good, above expectations. Prices were reasonable. Lots of locals, as everyone that walked in knew each other and the servers.
We really enjoyed our visit to Village Diner. The staff was very friendly and attentive, bringing a delightful sense of humor sprinkled with sarcasm … you know…the kind of personality that often characterizes experienced service workers. ❤️ We both had the upstate diner omelettes, which were quite tasty.
Waitress was very nice. Dinner came quickly. Reasonable price.
My wife and I were looking for a place to have a club sandwich on our trip from New Jersey to Vermont. We stopped at the village diner and were quite pleased with not only the food but the experience of a true traditional diner. My first impression of the diner was how very clean it was. It is clear the owner takes pride in this restaurant. We had our choice dozens and dozens of items on the menu however we had our club sandwich and were very happy. I would highly recommend stop here at this lovely diner.
Stopped in for a late breakfast after a business meeting. I had the French toast and my business partner had 2 eggs over easy. Both meals were delicious.
That feels like the old times place, service was friendly, we had eggs a la hollandaise, we would’ve loved some plant based milk options for our lactose intolerance, and the possibility to switch fries for salad, rather than removing the fries and adding the salad, and paying both the price. Otherwise! Cool spot!
Recently had the pleasure of dining at Village Diner and it was a delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff and felt right at home. The menu had a great selection of classic diner dishes and some unique options as well. I ended up ordering the [dish name] and it was absolutely delicious. The portion size was perfect and the flavors were spot on. What really stood out to me, however, was the exceptional service. Our server was attentive and friendly, checking in on us regularly without being intrusive. It was clear that the staff at Village Diner truly care about their customers and take pride in their work. Overall, I had a wonderful meal at Village Diner and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and delicious food.
I had eggs Benedict the hollandaise was tasty eggs properly cooked. We were early but service was very good. The diner is a little old, seats torn and a bit lumpy
Just your average NY diner. Food was definitely above average, the omelettes are huge and a very good deal. They doused my toast in so much butter which i didn’t love but overall great quality. Can’t go wrong here at all. Service was great and everything was very clean. The benches were a bit beaten up with tape covering some holes and it’s definitely very outdated decorations but after all it is a diner. Overall a solid four stars.
Nice little diner just off the main strip serving a variety of diner type foods with their own flare. The atmosphere takes is that idealic diner vibe and overall everyone was nice..I took off a star bc of my server...i was talking on my Bluetooth and during the whole ordering process I felt rushed and the diner had nobody in there. That was my only issue. A diner vibe should NEVER be rushed, that's why it's a diner 🤷🏾♂️
I honestly think I just got the wrong thing here since the French toast was delicious but I didn’t order that. I got the huevos rancheros which I would not recommend. It wasn’t bad but it’s really just beans and rice with two eggs. The rice was a bit stale but the eggs were good. I’d come again and order another item. The folks working here are friendly and there are a lot of locals. Stop by if you’re looking for some simple and classic diner food.
Regular diner food. Nothing great but not bad. Hits the spot for something quick and good
$2.25 for a cup of coffee and same for a cup of tea??? Unbelievable. No refill offered. All new staff today. Nobody greets you. People walk in and sit anyplace they want. Service just ok. $28 for breakfast??? What is happening? Is the old owner still there?
This was a pretty good diner. I had a BLT and it was well made. The wife had the French dip. The meat was very well done and the bread was the wrong type for a French dip. Overall it's an okay place to eat.
We are on vacation in the Catskills and just took my family for a brunch/lunch at this diner on recommendation of our campsite. The food was ok, coffee is light. What was most disappointing was our server who was clearly less than interested in providing a pleasant experience and was clearly annoyed with our presence from the moment we sat down. In fact she was quite rude to my sister at some point. When asking her a routine question, she abruptly and loudly snapped at her. So abrupt and loud was the response is that the entire table of 8 people were in shock. Ruined the mood of the meal. We made sure to provide feedback to the management and the server before leaving. Would not recommend this place if you’d like a light and cheery atmosphere.
This was a very average dinner. Nothing was really special or stand out. With that said, nothing was bad either. My only complaint is that it was hard to get our waitress's attention but that may have been due to staffing issues. Overall, I wouldn't say it's somewhere I would go out of my way to go to again but it's good if you want standard diner fair that will please a wide range of people.
Had biscuits with gravy, came with 2 eggs I had them over easy and home fries which I requested well done. The food over all had a good flavor. The potatoes were crisp just the way I like them. The eggs were over easy and again cooked perfect. The biscuits and gravy however was lacking flavor. The gravy never moistened the biscuit and barely covered the biscuit as well. Coffee was so weak that when they came around to refill it you can see through the coffee in the pot it looked like tea. Good prices and excellent service.
Server friendly and professional. Food decent and standard for diner fare. prices affordable. If you just want a decent meal then stop and fill the void in your belly.
Food was just ok , I got an omelet and it was very greasy. Wife got a wrap and she enjoyed it. Staff was very friendly.
A tip should be based on customers satisfaction. U shouldn't say u have under tipping. The cashier asked for tip and he was reminding the tip is low the waitress works hard for that. I understand that but if I feel the service of the waitress is not as I expected and she is not even serving with smile should I go for big tip? The food was good as well as the environment but I didn't like the way the manager and my waitress treated my family.
I find it hard to critique some establishments because I come with a preconceived notion of what they will be like. Village Diner exceeded my expectations. I gave it three stars because the food was just ordinary in flavor, quality, and presentation. The menu was huge, and my mother in law really wanted a quesadaia, but we could not find one in the dozen page menu. So, my mother in law simply asked, and they severed her an amazing looking and reasonable tasting quesadaia. The prices we very good. My zeti parm came with Brussel sprouts, a salad, and pie and was only $13. This is a nice quaint place that exceeded my expectations but I most likely will not return, unless my mother in law requests this place because if I am going to go out to eat, I want something more than ordinary.
I understand that many places are short staffed and society in general is becoming rude and selfish. I take that into consideration when faced with a negative experience. However, there still should be a basic level of service in the service industry and this visit didn’t meet that. Food was also mediocre and pricey. Restaurant and restroom were clean.
We narrowed down our diner choices for starting a day-trip in the area based on seeing some good reviews for this Village Diner, but, unfortunately, it was a bad choice. My friend says they messed up the poached eggs, but I didn't notice because I was too busy having an allergic reaction to the mushrooms I asked them not to put in my omelette because of, you guessed it, my bad mushroom allergy. The waitress and lady at checkout didn't seem to care much, and I was feeling too poorly to do more than just quietly let them know, so maybe they didn't get how big a problem it was. It wiped out the rest of the day. The hot chocolate was just the right temperature, not scalding hot, so that's one point for them, I guess.
My daughter and I were in the area hiking a few trails, and stopped in for lunch. The service was acceptable with a friendly waitress, and the place was clean. Very outdated interior, but that isn't unexpected for a small town diner like this. Some of he prices were reasonable, but we definitely made a meal choice based on the price. We shared a philly cheese steak sub. The bread was very fresh, and there was plenty of cheese, but the quantity of meat was low and it wasn't very good. I wouldn't recommend it. I'd give the place 2.5 stars if possible.
Our service was amazing but the food was just not great. We had breakfast and the potatoes tasted weird almost like the oil was old. Not the best at all sadly.
It starts w a waitress who is sarcastic but far from witty. The food was cold no flavor & disgusting really. Avoid this dump there is plenty of great food in Saugerties but this isn't it. Even the the coffee sucks!!! STEER CLEAR
We came in late about 45 minutes before closing. We ordered French Toast with bacon. The latter was not dipped in any egg whatsoever and the bacon was so bloody hard it could have been used as a lethal weapon. We were really surprised because we’ve never had such poor fare. As for presentation: surely you jest. Waitress was A+++++++++++
Food was disgusting. They use frozen meat to cook their foods. Fish was really the fish you buy frozen. The burgers were frozen Pattie’s. Absolutely no taste. The restaurant is was to expensive for frozen meat meals. Don’t EAT HERE OR YOU WILL REGRET SPENDING YOUR MONEY. So greasy as well. Make my daughter throw up.
FLIES IN COFFEE AND BURNT EGGS! The absolute worst food and diner experience in my life! Pointed out the flies in my dirty coffee cup to the server and she acted as if I smuggled them in and put them in the coffee myself! Then we were served burnt eggs and toast…everything was inedible and even though we pointed these things out to the server, we were still presented with a bill for full price for everything…YUCK. Even the restroom was filthy. Wonder when the last time the health department checked on this place…DO NOT EAT HERE!
The food is mediocre at best. The waitress we had wasn’t interested in serving us at all. Didn’t really tend to our table all that much. At the end she gave us the wrong bill saying nothing about it. When we looked and realized, we flagged her down. She then explained that someone else paid our bill and this bill was cheaper and to just pay that one. She then quickly left the table. I didn’t feel right about it and calculated our bill. It turned out that she was wrong in that the bill was more than what our bill would have been. I went up to the counter and told them and they did fix it for us. But it is embarrassing to bring my family to a place like that. The specific waitress we had was very rude. She should have explained what happened when she first put the bill down on the table. She acted as if she was too good for us. Also, I can make better pancakes at home which is really not the issue. I enjoyed them anyways but I was embarrassed to say the least and will not be going back or recommending this place at all. Thank you to the staff who did end up fixing the issue. Zero stars!!
