First of all, wonderful service! Lovely conversation with the waiter (Liam) who gave me tips on the food, the city, and the rest of my travel. Food: one of the best Seafood Linguine I have ever had in the world. Exaggeration? Not. I've been to over a thousand cities in 60+ countries so believe me it suits my taste. Oysters were also the best! Try one of each! They are fresh and tasty!!

We had hand-dived scallops duo lobster/langostines for our main dish. They were fresh and incredibly sweet. The seafood was succulent and moist, and bathed in a rich, herby and hearty garlic butter sauce. We finished our course with their absolutely delicious sticky toffee pudding. The moist sponge cake was soaked in sticky toffee sauce, which made it incredibly rich. It was balanced out with vanilla ice cream that came with buttery crumbles on the side, adding a layer of crunchiness.

Best seafood in Edinburgh! Staffs are very polite, friendly and helpful! The restaurant is not that big so reservations is highly recommended as it is a popular seafood restaurant in town. Everything we ordered from the menu were fresh, delicious and full of flavors! Overall me and my friends were very impressed with their services, food quality and prices! Sure will be back again if I visit Edinburgh in the future!

We booked here because we really wanted langoustines, which were phenomenal, but we enjoyed everything. You absolutely must try the fish soup. The drinks were great. Most of all, the service was incredible. They were so friendly and fun. Until next time!

Went there for lunch. Food was delicious. Fish chowder was super tasty, mussels were very good, super garlicky which I don’t mind. Fish cakes were very good. Lemon sole was ok, there were few bones, not sure about the sauce. Broccoli and chips on the side were good too. We also ordered seafood linguine but after our starters we were so full we had to ask a waiter to cancel the linguine unfortunately. But we were very pleasantly full. Delicious food with good prices.

I wandered into Fishers in the City looking for my first proper fish and chips meal in Scotland, and I definitely struck gold. The fish was perfectly cooked with a crispy, golden batter, and the chips were just as crunchy and satisfying. A little oily, sure, but in the best, hearty, comfortfood way. I hadn’t planned on finding a gem like this it felt like a lucky stumble that made my first dinner in Edinburgh unforgettable!

I love establishments like this one. The ambiance, the waiters, the food. It is really comfortable being there and you know you are going to have a good meal. I had the fish soup which was tasty but not amazing. It had haddock and salmon in it. The fish pieces in the soup were a little chewy. I assume its because the soup is made in a big batch and kept warm during the entire service so the fish gets overcooked. It may be a good idea to add the fish last minute. The scallops were amazing. One of the best I have had. They were really fresh and sweet. The plate worked really well as a whole. My gf had the mussels so no comment on those. It was a shame that I had stomach problems and couldn’t eat much. I will definitely visit again to try lobster and langoustines.

Lovely food and services. We tried the lunch menu and they are in good portions. It's a wonderful experience for sure.

We had a lovely dinner here. Our waiter Liam was friendly, attentive, and had a great knowledge about the wines on offer. The mussels, seafood linguine, and lobster were amazing - some of the best seafood we’ve had. A great atmosphere too.

This is the BEST lobster I’ve ever had - Service is incredible, everyone is so friendly and looks like they really enjoy what they do which is lovely. The atmosphere is so nice & the food is astounding. It was the highlight of our whole trip. Ps. The spiced cherry sorbet is on par with the gelato I’ve had in Italy, was SO good x

Friendly service and a nice atmosphere! We ordered several dishes from the menu: the salad was amazing – great dressing. The shrimp tacos came with a wonderful mango sauce and were overall delicious, but the tortilla would have been tastier if it had been warmed up or grilled. The halibut we ordered was delicious, while the weakest point was definitely the fries, which weren’t crispy and could use some improvement. Overall though, we recommend this place because the food was very tasty!

We had a nice cozy spot in the bar area and our waiter, Liam, was amazing! He recommended the classic fish and chips and it did not disappoint. We also ordered the fish soup that had huge chunks of delicious salmon. Gin options are on point as well

A standout seafood dining experience in the heart of Edinburgh. Fishers in the City delivers exceptional quality, with fresh, locally sourced seafood cooked to perfection. The menu offers a refined yet approachable selection—highlights included the Shetland mussels and the grilled Scottish salmon, both full of flavour and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is upscale but relaxed, making it suitable for both business lunches and special dinners. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, particularly when recommending wine pairings and daily specials. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant can get busy, especially on weekends. Pricing is fair for the quality and portion size. Overall, a must-visit for seafood lovers visiting Edinburgh.

I went there twice because of the quality and excellent service. Each and every dish I tried had a delicate finesse to it. Ada was phenomenal following up and making sure that I get the right dish.. sometimes I wouldn’t guess from the ingredients that the dish may not be halal, but Ada would say “no you can’t have this- let me see if the chef can adjust it for you”. Truly grateful for the experience and would definitely come back again should I re-visit beautiful Scotland! ❤️

This place was recommended to us, and I’m so happy it was. It was one of the best meals we had on our whole 9 day trip through the UK. The flavors were fantastic, atmosphere was great, and couldn’t ask for better service. I had the red Thai coley, soooo good! 🤤

Best way to end a long day. Fish & chips, along with the sticky toffee pudding, were delish!

This is a bit of a late review, but Fisher in the City truly deserves a mention! It was one of the best meals I had in Edinburgh. Tucked away on a quiet street in the Old Town, the restaurant isn’t very big, but it’s cosy, stylish, and full of character. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The menu isn’t huge, but that’s a good thing — it’s focused and well thought out. The seafood was incredibly fresh. I really enjoyed the mussel pasta — full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The oysters were also super plump and fresh. Everything was just spot-on. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Edinburgh. Highly recommend if you’re a seafood lover!

My visit to this restaurant was quite enjoyable. The dishes we ordered, including the Fisher salmon & smoked haddock fish cakes, mussels with white wine cream and garlic, oysters, and prawns, were all well-prepared and tasty. The service was also commendable, adding to a pleasant dining experience.

Just go. Incredible seafood freshly, and beautifully, cooked. I need to return to try more of the menu. Amazing starters of scallops and monkfish. The flavours are incredible. And the best seafood linguine I have had. The halibut was wonderfull too.

We had a great experience at Fishers in the City! Walked in early afternoon and were lucky enough to get a table for an early dinner. The seafood was very fresh and delicious. Service was exceptional! Recommend making reservations, this restaurant is very good and seems to be popular.

We stumbled upon this Fishers location (previously only knowing the one in Leith) just as they opened for lunch, so we were seated right away. The staff were warm and attentive, and our dishes arrived promptly—each one absolutely delicious. You really can’t go wrong with fresh, well-prepared seafood.

Had a wonderful dining experience at this fish restaurant. The menu offered a great variety of fresh seafood dishes, with something for everyone—from classic fish and chips to more refined, seasonal specials. The wine selection was impressive and paired beautifully with the meal. The quality of the food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole evening even more enjoyable. A great place for seafood lovers. I’d definitely retur

We pre booked Fishers for a Good Friday fish meal as a family. The gentleman kindly printed out colouring in pages for the kids and gave us colouring in crayons. Lively touch. The lady that served us was great. Answered all our questions and kept our wine glasses full. I would say one of the best seafood meals we have had in Europe. Top shelf.

While the fish and chips was rather disappointing, the seafood pasta and the sticky toffee pudding were absolutely delicious.

The staff provided excellent service, and the food was delicious, fresh, and not fishy. The prices matched the quality perfectly. The restaurant is located in the city center, making it easy to find, and the atmosphere was great. I ordered the Hot Shellter for 2, and the portion was so generous that it was more than enough to fill us up.

Fabulous “hidden gem” of you crave fabulous seafood! The king prawn tacos and fisher’s soup, are the perfect starters, hand-picked scallops as main course (take it and thank me later!) and the sticky toffee pudding is the perfect to meal end!

I had the pleasure of experiencing one of the most amazing lunches of my life at this restaurant. The fish was incredibly fresh and of high quality. The cooking methods were expertly executed, highlighting the quality and taste of the raw ingredients beautifully. The staff were friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. I highly recommend dining here, especially trying the mojito salmon and halibut, which were absolutely stunning.

Turning up we were sat beside a table of Italians, this bode well. The staff in the venue were super friendly and attentive, easy going and honest. The food was as fresh as it gets, and the chefs really know what they're doing. The only seafood I've eaten that was more fresh was mussels picked off the rocks by my own hands. Every member of our party left smiling at how tasty the food was. You pay for what you get in this venue. and what you get is arguably the best seafood in Edinburgh. I will certainly be back.

From the Classic Fish and Chips to the special 1/2 lobster and fresh local diver scallops, this is a tucked away gem not to be missed. The meals were very reasonably priced as was the well rounded selection of international wines. The staff were all highly engaged, knowledgeable and welcoming. If you don’t have a reservation, the bar is a great place to slip in for an amazing last minute meal.

Took the family here for an absolutely fantastic meal. As a lover of seafood I was not disappointed. It has a really warm and welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff that made it feel like nothing was "too much" to ask. I got a seafood platter with lobster and scallops, with an garlic butter I will be thinking about for months to come! It was really great quality seafood - very fresh and a lot of meat on the lobster too. I also got a prawn and pork belly start which was also fantastic, and a great creme brulee to top the entire meal off. Can't wait til I get to go back!

Amazing dishes, impeccable service and very tasteful atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend. We had the chowder, salmon ceasare salad, shellfish linguine and the fish and chips - all were scrumptious 😍

Amazing service with great recommendations, food arrived fast and it was absolutely delicious. The oysters were fresh and tasty, halibut cooked to perfection with a really special sauce. We were so full but still went for a recommended cheese cake and didn’t regret it. Will come again, thank you!!

Again I rarely give out full stars but this place is seriously something. I saw some people mention how theyre expensive,I can't fully comment cos I went during lunch but I can say for sure their quality ingredients justify their price to a great extent. Also lunch deals are insane, 20£ for 2 courses for something of this quality is really hard to beat. The langoustines were amazing. First of all it's hard to find good langoustines, secondly not a lot of places allow you to order by piece. Here I got 2 pieces and they were more than happy to oblige if I only ordered one(I checked w them explicitly). Langoustines really tasted super fresh, my eyes opened when I shoved the first piece into my mouth. There's something inexplicable about insanely fresh seafood, and theirs is really top class given how they have 2 deliveries daily. Linguine pasta was good too, their sauce is very unique with a hint of tomato and some heat, but certainly different from most. Seafood was fresh too. And the sticky date pudding is the best I've had. Never had a sticky date pudding this intense, and the sponge was reasonably light given the mad intensity. As if that wasn't enough, there's a tremendous amount of shredded dates. The sauce and the cream worked brilliantly too. For someone who loves sticky date pudding, I'm really surprised the best I've had comes from a Scottish place All in all, they're famous for a good reason. If there's any complaint, it's that they don't allow takeaway cos they don't have some license Service was exemplary too, both of the staff who served my table were extraordinarily charming

We ate here Sunday. We came at 12 noon when they first opened without reservations. We had tickets for the castle 1:15, so we needed to eat quickly and depart. We explained this and the staff took very good care of us. The fish soup was the best we ever had. Our son had the Fish & Chips and said it was the best he had on our entire trip to the UK (this was our last day of a 15 day trip). The atmosphere was terrific, the restaurant is situated on a quiet street a few blocks away from the madness on Princes street and the staff is very friendly. I usually only review restaurants if they get everything right and they certainly did.

This is a happy meal, everything is fantastic. The friendly service, the food and atmosphere are excellent. The seafood is so good and it couldn't be better. The mussles, scallops and Oyster were so fresh. The pork belly is out of this world and the fish & chip is so delicious. Best of all, the price us reasonable. We really enjoyed this meal.

During a week long culinary exploration of Edinburgh, Fishers In The City didn’t just stand out; it provided my favorite meal in recent memory. This chic, buzzy spot strikes the perfect balance between relaxed atmosphere and high end execution. We started with the oysters; the natural ones were pristine, but the Nduja topped version was a revelation—a spicy, savory twist that was simply delightful. For the main, the surf and turf featuring scallops and steak was brilliant, cooked with precision and showcasing incredible produce. We finished with a decadent chocolaty pudding that was the perfect, rich conclusion to an unforgettable evening. If you are in the city, this is an absolute must visit for seafood lovers.

The best restaurant of our visit to Edinburgh. Fabulous interior with terraced seating so we felt spaced out, but cosy. Excellent fish soup for lunch. Lovely staff made us feel welcome.

Lovely tasty well cooked food and quality ingredients, which is becoming harder and harder to find in Edinburgh, always great service, professional servers who seem to enjoy their job, always great buzzing atmosphere, lovely location, and as others have said, the sticky toffee pudding with cream AND ice cream.... sublime! Thank you for a lovely experience can't wait to come back.

I have to say everything was amazing but there's nothing like to have such and amazing service as this place, all of the waiters were so welcome and servicial, always aware of everything. The food, the environment everything together make this place definitely at 10/10. Definitely will be back and put on my list of favourite places 👌

We had a wonderful dining experience at Fishers in the City. The service was exceptional — the male waiter who looked after us was incredibly attentive, quick-witted and had a great sense of humour. He made our evening relaxed and enjoyable. The food was equally impressive. The oysters and mussels were very fresh, the linguine was perfectly cooked and full of flavour, and the fish was beautifully tender and flaky. Everything tasted high quality and well prepared. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great seafood and friendly, professional service in Edinburgh. We would definitely return!

I recently dined at Fishers in the City, and I must say, their seafood truly shines! The mussels were an absolute highlight – plump, meaty, and bursting with flavor, cooked to perfection in a delicious broth. The halibut fish and chips was another standout; the batter was wonderfully crispy, giving way to moist, tender, and meaty fish inside. It was a textbook example of how fish and chips should be done! The other dishes we tried were solid, though they didn’t quite reach the same heights as the mussels and halibut. Overall, the food was impressive, and the seafood-focused menu is a real draw. Great job

Hidden in tiny Thistle St, is a hidden seafood restaurant which has been here for a long time. It’s a modern looking place with 3 levels for dinner area (very popular in the days bygone) Service was attentive as there were not many tables at early lunch. Friendly and welcoming people. This restaurant reminded me the tourist traps along San Francisco’s Fishermen’s Wharf. Menu was mainly seafood with 2 beef options. However the draw for tourists will be the local seafood selection which was not unlike the other restaurants around here. However all the seafood were fresh and super tasty., it is a stone’s throw from George’s Street. All with 3 minutes walking distance.
