good food, nice environment. Also good for gathering with friends, make reservation in advance if possible. Among the best Italian food I’ve tried so far.

We ordered the seafood risotto and Linguine Mare, as well as calamari rings. The seafood was very fresh and offered great value for money. For dessert, we had panna cotta and cheesecake. The cheesecake was different from what we usually have, but it was also very tasty.

Authentic Italian food. Feels and tastes like Mama made it !! Great ambience and friendly staff. Burrata was to die for. Fresh and creamy. Pasta perfectly al dente. Large portions. Highly recommended

This warm, welcoming restaurant is a must-visit in Haymarket, Edinburgh. The lady and gentleman who served us were both friendly and efficient, and we were even served with a surprise mocktail which was divine. We also ordered calamari and mixed olives as starters, and lasagna, creamy chicken and seabass as mains, all of which were beyond satisfactory. The atmosphere was chilled out and gave a sense of cosiness (definitely needed during the cold months of Scotland). Highly recommend and will most definitely be revisiting!

Italian to its core, this little gem has killer chefs and dishes. The lamb chops are melt in your mouth quality, and the veal is soft and juicy. The salmon pasta is rather rich, as is the lasagna. The foccacios are amazing, not too filling and with a proper base. With handsome waiters and a positive vibe, be sure to book your table at this popular restaurant.

Our first time in Edinburgh. We came without a reservation at 6 and we were seated right away. We got lasagne, bruschetta and margarita pizza. All dishes were delicious. Bruschetta was decent, we have had better. Pizza was above average. And the lasagne was delicious, didn’t even need a knife to cut through it. Started to get busy at around 6.30pm so book a reservation we just didn’t know! They charge a 10% service charge, and with 2 cokes it came to 34£ which is very reasonable.

Popped here for a birthday meal on a Friday night. It was very busy but the staff were coping well enough & the food wait times were not bad at all. A good selection on the menu. The bolognase was delicious and the pasta cooked just right. A cold breeze from the fire door at the back when it was opened but this was quickly rectified once advised.

Me and my friend came for a dinner ,and we start it with bruschetta which was so delicious,than we ordered Carbonara so nice and creamy as should be ,after that delicious deserts.... U must visit this place ,proper Italian food... Definitely recommend this place. Service was amazing, friendly and really nice people!!!!

Excellent service, friendly staff, a warm atmosphere, and delicious food. Special thanks to the manager, Ibrahim, who kindly agreed to reheat my pasta, which had been waiting for me for over an hour. First time at Mia Italian kitchen ,we had the 3 course lunch which was £15.95 each which was great value and great food .portions were generous and yummy . Would definitely recommend a visit. Service was very friendly and polite topclass waiter. Will definitely be back here !

Ciao!!! Ok. I have lived in Italy and I can say that this meal was outstanding. The wine was good as well. They took us as a walk in although reservations are preferred! A must try place for authentic Italian dishes.

First time visiting and we will most certainly be back, service was brilliant, food was absolutely fantastic (definitely the best carbonara I’ve ever had)and the portion sizes were perfect, cocktails were also very tasty, can’t recommend this place enough!!

Wonderful restaurant, lovely food and very welcoming atmosphere, the bolognaise was amazing, everything it should be and the garlic bread amazing, nice wine and altogether a wonderful place, would definitely recommend it and would definitely go back.

Very cosy restaurant, you don't feel jammed. Nice, mmmm food for very reasonable prices, big portions, fresh ingredients. And the staff is so friendly! We had garlic bread with mozzarella, caprece, carbonara and linguini marinera and OMG tiramisu. It was a sunday, any other day I recommend to make a reservation.

Have been here twice now and it's absolutely delicious! Especially loved the linguine mare. The staff are lovely and the vibe is classy and chill :)

Hello I just wanted to pass on a huge thank you to all at Mia Kitchen for looking after our huge table of 25 people on Saturday night. The food was out of this world and the service was friendly and fun, everyone had the best night. Thanks also for your flexibility with our arrival time. We couldn't have asked for a better dinner with during our visit to Edinburgh! Thank you again Sarah

The food was good in a nice friendly atmosphere within walking distance to our hotel on Fountainbridge). I only took one food picture. I had the linguini with clam sauce which was delicious (tiny clams but a lot of them!). Husband had the risotto mare and son had margarita pizza (all were good). Service was just a little slow, but otherwise they were friendly. We didn’t have dessert (which is unusual for us) because nothing suited our fancy.

The menu is very big what gave you a good choice we have quite good variety. Risotto was nice a bit salty but was ok but the pizza wasn’t great like for Italian restaurant. The food portions are very generous. Service was very nice. I have seen as they do set menu for a lunch so can be a good spot for hungry people. They also been quite busy so recommend to book.

The lunch menu at Mia’s is great! They have quite generous portions. The service was also very good, servers were nice and friendly. I wasn’t a big fan of the broccoli soup but I will try something else next time. The arrabbiata pasta was spicy, I enjoyed that however I would love to try their pizzas. They also have multiple vegetarian/vegan options on the lunch menu which is much appreciated.

Can recommend to everyone. Food is absolutely gorgeous, plenty option to choose from and big portions.Great Italian choices on the menu and the waiters are efficient but still great fun. Our meals were excellent and nobody could clear their plates so generous were the portion sizes. We'll be back

Great Italian restaurant for a date night when visiting Edinburgh (from the States). We made reservations in advance to make sure that we had seating, and we were thankful that we did because it was busy enough for a Monday night! My partner is gluten intolerant, so we wanted to go to a place that had gluten free options. Their gluten free pasta is penne only. My partner ended up ordering the Formaggi pizza and I ordered the Linguine Salmone (slightly salty salmon). We also ordered the affettati Mistie Mozzarella and house wines (not pictured). The staff was very friendly and took my partner's allergies seriously.

It was very nice Italian restaurant, friendly staff and there is also window seating available. Pictured is the risotto with mushrooms and ham and I got the seabass with veggies both very good and filling. For dessert I got a sponge with nutella soaked in rum which was alright it sounds way better that it tastes. Happy with the service would recommend it

This is a tale of two halves.Came here with my dad recently and so we had mixed reactions to the food.So from dad's side,he really enjoyed the Mussel starter but thought you were a little skimpy on the bread.He then had a the nduja pasta and quite enjoyed it,saying it was nice and tasty and you could really taste the tomato in the sauce.So,now it's my turn.I absolutely love veal,and not a lot of Italian restaurants do it anymore.....Neither I am sorry to say should this one.It was overcooked,so was chewy and as for the presentation it was terrible.The veg that came with it was also overcooked and pure mush.We didn't pay for the veal when the bill came,but that said we won't be rushing back.Sorry

Limited 'Special' menu for Rugby international but very pricey. Felt like restaurant was taking advantage, portion size very small for price. Food itself was very tasty but felt overall, taken advantage of. Regrettably, unlikely to rush back

Italian food was amazing but pizza was awful, had to eat the pizza with a fork and knife. Crust is under cooked. Had them reheat it and still wasn’t good. However the pasta was great. No good service. The staff was ignoring us and eating their own food at another table. 3 of them, on shift.

Our experience was quite disappointing. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table right next to the kitchen, even though the restaurant was almost empty. It was uncomfortably warm due to the kitchen heat, and the noise from inside — along with one waitress’s loud laughter — made the atmosphere far from relaxing or professional. We ordered garlic bread, which was very hard to chew, and a mushroom risotto, but the rice was slightly undercooked. My lasagne was also burnt on the bottom layer. Overall, it wasn’t an enjoyable dining experience.

First time here — food was good, though nothing extraordinary. Lovely atmosphere too. Service, however, was another story. Took half an hour for our food to arrive, which oddly went to the table next to us first despite them arriving after us. Then took another half hour just to get the bill, even after asking several times. Shame, as it could’ve been a nice experience.

We had a very disappointing visit to MIA Italian this evening. Upon arrival, the place looked nice inside, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, we were seated at a cramped two-seater table with an extra chair added on the side, just inches away from another couple. When we asked about it, we were told by the manager it was “sufficient” since we hadn’t booked — which might have been understandable if the restaurant wasn’t half empty. Things only went downhill from there. We ordered the seafood spaghetti, which was bland, watery, and poorly executed. One of the mussels I tried was cold and tasted undercooked, which completely put me off the dish. The spaghetti Bolognese was very average, and the kids’ fish and chips came with the skin on — something not mentioned on the menu. While some may prefer that, my 6-year-old couldn’t eat it, so we asked to change it for a pizza instead. Unfortunately, the pizza wasn’t any better. It tasted like tinned tomatoes on a base with rubbery cheese — again, completely bland and unappetizing. In the end, barely any of the food was eaten. It was honestly a really poor standard of food, especially for a restaurant. Don’t recommend waste of money you can do better at home.

Rating: 2.5/5 We were seated straight away, which was a good start, but then waited around 15 minutes just to get menus. I eventually had to go up to the bar and ask, as the waiter was sitting in the back on his phone. About 30 seconds after we finally received the menus, he came over asking for our order, even though we clearly hadn’t had time to look yet. Once we decided, a waitress took our order — she was lovely, very polite, and the food and drinks arrived quickly. No complaints there. The issues continued with the same waiter. I ordered a beer shortly after the food came out, but it never arrived. After finishing my meal, I told him to just cancel it as I no longer wanted it. Despite that, he still brought one over anyway. On top of that, he kept touching my shoulder when apologising, which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. Overall, the food was great and the waitress was fantastic, but the service from the waiter (early 20s, blonde hair) really let the experience down. Especially disappointing given it was a quiet Wednesday night with only two other tables in.

I ordered a medium rare steak for I come to this restaurant often and am a regular customer, so I know their cooking style/method. But today, when my scallops were burnt and my beef steak was overcooked, when I complained, the staff commented that they had a new, young female chef who just started working as a chef today. £28.95. they Confirm that the steak is medium rare and forced me to pay for the food and told me that I had a bad attitude and asked to pay n leave the restaurant immediately. In short, they took the steak back and threw it away and didn't make a new one for me. Let me post some pictures so you can decide whether a medium rare steak looks like this or not.

I was disappointed with my experience at Mia Italian Kitchen. I visited with friends for dinner, and while the calamari and pasta were enjoyable, we had a couple of issues. After a 30-minute wait, my friend received linguine instead of the risotto he ordered, which we promptly returned, delaying our meal further. Additionally, the focaccia was terrible—it resembled a soggy pizza base topped with chopped tomatoes, rather than the flavourful bread we expected. Despite expressing our dissatisfaction, our feedback was not acknowledged, and when we received the same dish again, it was overcooked and burnt. I would not recommend the “focaccia” if you are looking for an authentic version.
