Beef 'n Bun is a nostalgic step into the past, allowing you to remember what a classic burger and shake is and was nothing crazy or off the wall, just good ol' comfort food. In case a burger isn't your thing, they also have chicken and are know for their fish and chips; I have had each and they all are options I keep top of mind when ordering. I even had their grilled cheese once, it is was a crispy bite into why it is a staple most of us grew up on..just good (and that is saying something , as I enjoy a more bougie 3 or 4 blend sandwich when grabbing one).

Not trying to bash a local business at all, I swung by to support and try something I have not tried before and my 5 year old son came with me. I got a bacon cheeseburger and I got my son a quarter pounder with cheese. I'll start with the good. The crinkle cut fries were done pretty well and were salted pretty well and they had basic condiments available without having to ask for them. My issue was with the burger patties in particular, they pretty much taste like Wal mart frozen burger patties. Don't get me wrong, both my son and I smashed our food lol I paid 24 bucks for 2 burgers, 1 fry and 1 drink. It was worth not having to cook but there wasn't much to make me want to come back. At the end of the day, I'm glad my hard earned money went to a local business instead of some jackazz billion dollar corporation. Upgrade those patties and I'll upgrade my stars lol

I'm lovin' Beef and Bun in El Cajon! This old school burger stand is servin' up some seriously good eatin'. The classic cheeseburger is perfection - juicy patty, melty cheese, and all the fixin's. But the real star of the show is the chocolate peanut butter milkshake - it's OUT OF THIS WORLD. If you're in the area, you gotta stop by and try one (or both, let's be real). Beef and Bun is keepin' it real with good old fashioned flavors that hit the spot every time!

This place is a childhood favourite of my fiancé's so he wanted to take me there and highly recommended the milkshakes. The food is pretty good and plentiful. Definitely more homey fare, with French fries, blts, and burgers. I'm from a small town and this reminded me a lot of what we'd enjoy on summer nights from the diner - well-done comfort food that doesn't need to be fancy to hit the spot. We were there when it was pretty quiet, so everything was served pretty quickly. The milkshakes are very good and I loved that they had some less common flavours - the cherry was fantastic.

Definitely a mom n pop sort of vibe or local type of feel. The burger was good 👍 nothing over the top but did the job and was tasty and pleasing. I would eat here again if I was in the area and wanted a burger. Crinkle cut fries definitely give a old school feel and paired well with the burger because they were good. Once again, not to over state or under state, but this place was good. It wasn’t like I said over the top. Amazing extremely delicious, but it wasn’t a letdown or a disappointment.

Nothing really crazy is just burgers and fries and shakes if you’re in the mood. Prices are a little out there and while I know they are a single company dealing also with inflation the cost just wasn’t worth it to us door subpar food. Burger was cooked well though and fries are well salted though portions are small.

I think the reviews are way over inflated with nostalgia factor. The reality is that the food is subpar, and I HATE saying that since the man who I assume is the owner is so nice and lively. First time here. Got the monster burger which taste extremely similar to in n out, but for 16 dollars. It's a regular burger with 3 patties. I was really hoping for more of a specialty burger with some sort of special sauce or ingredients for this price. I don't normally get shakes so my opinion is kinda invalid, but I enjoyed the mocha shake. Fried Zucchini (pictured) is not what you'd expect. I respect the portion. It's 5 quartered whole zucchinis. Not pickled and cut up like normal. Zucchini and batter could use seasoning, because I had to dunk it in ranch every bite. Personally not a fan of crinkle cut fries either. Will always just remind me of frozen ones from the market. Soft and squishy. The service and atmosphere is good, but burger is a way below standard for the price.

My boyfriend and I have been here multiple times and it’s normally pretty good. We went tonight as we didn’t feel like cooking. I ordered a quarter pound burger with cheese and my boyfriend ordered a bbq bacon burger. We waited probably around 7-10 mins in the drive thru. We only live about 5 minutes away and by the time we got home, our fries and burgers were room temperature at best. Our fries had absolutely no salt, and my boyfriend’s burger was so dry and overcooked it was falling apart. My burger was missing the cheese and also crumbling apart. I added my own cheese but it didn’t melt as the burger was cold. For $34 it was incredibly disappointing. Don’t think we’ll come back and stick with in n out from now on.

I am coming from an honest place while making this post. For starters, I’m not here to bash a business, nor is this report for malicious purposes. This is solely to inform and report on an experience, and as an American and a paying customer, I am entitled that right to. On December 30th 2024 my girlfriend and I decided to get beef and bun for lunch. We live in the immediate area, and have had this establishment a number of times previously. One of our favorite things about this place is how fresh the food typically is, especially the French fries! They’re always super crispy, yet delicately soft and salty. The burgers are a great size for a fast food establishment, and the shakes are usually very thick and delicious. However, the reason for this post is my sandwich was none of those things aforementioned above. To begin, I ordered a 1/2 lb colossal burger with NO MAYO and grilled onions a reg fry and a dr. Pepper with light ice. Once home when I unwrapped my burger I noticed an ungodly amount of grease seemingly slathered on the bun making it soggy and unappealing. I live around the corner, less than 5 minutes, so no way for it to have been that soggy that fast. I checked the burger initially and didn’t noticed anything off with the order. I ate a good portion and noticed the meat was very underdone as well. I don’t mind pink in my burgers when the meat is excellent quality, but this meat seamed like it was barely grilled. I got to a place where the flavor wasn’t right, so I stopped eating and checked the burger again. That’s when I noticed a white sauce that looked like mayo. Mind you, melted American cheese has a tendency to look like cream, but can still be distinguished due to color. This was clearly on the bun, and not coming from the cheese in the center. The bun seemed to have had mayo on, and then wiped off, with the proper condiments applied. I then recorded what was left as I was sure I had properly stated no mayo on the burger due to general distaste for the sauce. I then found the receipt, which also states NO mayo on the order. I documented the oil that had pooled to the side in the wrapper, as well as the sandwich and the receipt. I gave the remainder to my dog. After napping for several hours due to stomach ache, I continued experiencing indigestion and nausea throughout the evening. Paying nearly $35 for two people at a drive through, I feel I deserve to have adequate service at least and be treated fairly from the initial encounter. The money we spend as Americans is through hard earned, sacrificed time that is meant to embody a certain experience. Are we so lost in the numbers as a society that we’ve forgotten how to treat customers, and that the customer is always right? I am disappointed, as I know this to be a local favorite and have had decent experiences in the past. I’m not sure if it’s due to the color of my skin, my presentation, my approach, or if it has anything to do with me personally at all. All I know is I paid for an experience and I did not get what I feel I paid for. I feel robbed of my cash and my joy for someone’s profit, and if that’s what our country has created, then I feel sorry for the future. This isn’t my first negative experience at local establishment in the city, and I don’t think of myself as unpleasant to be in the company of. I don’t like to think of myself as someone who complains, but I will also not be someone who accepts what isn’t right in any manner of service or interaction. It’s not right either when addressing issues and being seen as the aggressor or initiator of the situation. I only wish to bring light and attention, and if the voice is the fly in someone’s ear, I’d rather annoy and die young speaking the truth than live to an old age in an era full of lies and false receipts. Why do people rave the milk shakes here? They are overpriced garbage. almost $10 for a large milkshake! It is just a large Pepsi drink cup filled with soft serve vanilla "ice cream". Yep, just a sweaty cup with chintzy lid. Oh, and the straw?! It is made for soft drinks, NOT a thick milkshake. As I ate it with a spoon, there were small chunks of ice in it. Terrible. It was a fresh reminder of why I no longer go here, let it be a warning for you.

This was the worst hamburger and onion rings. Save your money and go to In and Out. My burger was cold..obviously warmed up in the microwave with the onion rings. I had to throw it away. I couldn't eat anything but th burger patty. I had to take the patty out and heat it up in the microwave. I knew something was wrong when the nice lady handed the bag to me and the bag wasn't even hot. I went at dinner time 6p.m. and there was a line in the drive through. I assumed my food would be fresh and hot. This was my 1st time and last time I am ever coming here. Trust me, go to In and out. There was a lady in the drive through that paid 100.00 bucks!!! No way..not for this elementary school burger!!! Yuck!!!!! I spent 20.00 bucks and I am pissed. I couldn't even eat it. 😩 I could have died from the raw bacon. Don't do it!!!
