Cute little Sushi Restaurant. Nice decor. They even have a cozy couch seating area. I believe they have 4 big screen TVs, 1 with K-POP, another with Japanese cartoons... Food is Excellent. Customer service was on point. Prices are fair, the fish was cold and taste fresh.
Very deceiving. You walk up to a store front that looks like any other typical southern California shopping Plaza. Then enter to find couches booths and bar stool tables , airy atmosphere, with light kpop music playing. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. I tried a little of everything on their menu and it was all very tasty. I would recommend Sei Sushi to anyone who would like good food and a pleasant atmosphere.
I love this place. I come here once a week with my boyfriend and we get the 3 item meal deal! There's so many options to choose from I especially gyoza and they're Navajo crunch roll. They're miso soup that comes with the meal is delicious and the service is always great. Great food for great price. Plus they have couches for seats at some tables.
Nice little spot near Santee/El Cajon for good sushi and other Japanese food. Had some great tuna and japanese curry and a little sake that was also very pleasant. Good place!
Sei Sushi is an absolute standout! From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by a calm, minimalist ambiance that sets the perfect tone for a relaxed dining experience. The staff are warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations based on your preferences. But the real star here is the food. The sushi is exceptionally fresh, beautifully plated, and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend trying the chef’s omakase – each piece was a delightful surprise, showcasing both classic technique and creative flair. The nigiri melted in my mouth, and the specialty rolls had the perfect balance of texture and taste without being overly dressed or gimmicky. Their sake selection is also top-notch, and the servers are happy to help you find a pairing that elevates your meal. Sei Sushi is a place where quality, service, and atmosphere come together perfectly. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or just starting to explore Japanese cuisine, this spot is not to be missed. I’ll definitely be back!
I am not the biggest fan of sushi but when I went here the food was amazing. The chicken teriyaki bowl has great flavor and sides. Also the way the place is designed it feels like you are from japan. Another thing is that the services was very fast and very polite.
The wait staff was attentive and prompt. Our food was delicious. Special requests were honored with a smile and at minimal to no extra charge. I added avocado to my poke and it only cost $1! My friend forgot her leftovers and one of the staff ran out to the parking lot to give it to her. That's unheard of and was very appreciated! Great experience! We will be back.
We ate here for the first time tonight, Monday 12-26-22. The food was very good. They had good vegan and vegetarian selections. The ambience was very nice. The service we received from Kevin was excellent as he was very attentive and friendly. The price we were charged was reasonable. The draft beers on Monday are $5. We will definitely be back again soon.
I love this place! Not sure if a family owns it but the waitresses are always so friendly and remember us. Food is🔥🔥🔥. I have a few favorites but don't want to give it away bc they run out sometimes 😆 also, they get so busy on the weekends!
My go to for sushi. I'm lucky it's right by my house. Probably eat here at least 1x a week. Dine in and take out is always great. Love the staff. The sushi never disappoints. I love everything.
I come here a lot after the gym. One of my favorite sushi spots in San Diego. They have a good mix of unique rolls and classics like a dragon roll. I also really like the chicken katsu curry. Very chill atmosphere and the service always great! 👌
Don’t normally make reviews but I want to support this place. I went here for the first time today about a half hour before closing time and all of the employees seemed happy to take my order. I felt kinda bad going in late I thought that they’d be a little ticked off but everyone was friendly. The food was delicious, probably the best sushi I’ve ever had. And the atmosphere is chill and lowkey which I liked. They even have DragonBall Z and other anime playing in the background which is pretty cool. Overall it was a great experience and I definitely will come back.
I go to Sei Sushi about 1–2 times a month since it’s conveniently located right next to my gym, and it never disappoints. The food is consistently high quality and offered at a very reasonable price. I recently visited a more upscale sushi spot where the prices were nearly double, and honestly, the quality at Sei is just as good. The service here is always friendly and attentive. They even let me sample the beer I was interested in before ordering. They also offer daily specials, where each day features a different deal. If you’re looking for solid sushi without breaking the bank and want a welcoming vibe, Sei Sushi is definitely worth checking out.
Amazing sushi and japanese food location! Right next to 24 Hour Fitness. This place has plenty of open parking, super friendly staff, amazing food and a very clean and inviting atmosphere. My girlfriend and I regular this spot it's just that good! Their menu is QR coded and they have options for all dietary needs. All the prices on food here are reasonable and affordable for the quality and amount of food you get! The staff here actually care about your opinion and experience which isnt something you see every day.
Best sushi I have had in a while. Super fresh and the Navajo crunchy roll basically melted in my mouth, it was so good. We also got the Korean BBQ fries and they were perfect!
I love sushi so I had to try this place out and I love the concept, it is super nice and comfortable to spend a nice evening with friends! Sushi is good in flavor, I like it very much, the only thing is that my flakes were not as crunchy as I like but besides that everything is great, nice service! 👀✨
This is a great sushi place that doesn't break the bank. They have a happy hour with deals on hot sake and draft beers. I noticed this time that the Japanese pop videos were swapped out for sports. Maybe because we were a bit early for the regular dinner crowd. We asked for changes to a roll (added avocado to the top) and it was no problem.
This is probably the best sushi I have ever had in my life…I got the lake Murray roll and the dynamite and it lived up to the name! So so incredible! I’ll be back!

SEI sushi has been around for a very long time and for good reason; the food is great. There are so many creative rolls to choose from and the traditional Japanese dishes are made to perfection. Where they really shined for me were their starters. The takoyaki was superb as was the karaage chicken. Their soups and noodles should definitely be tried. Our hostess was so friendly and cheerful. The atmosphere is casual and tastefully decorated. Japanese pop music filled the air at a good decibel level, making conversation easy. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the Grossmont roll, but now I find myself curiously wanting to order it again. The price is a good value. I hope to become a regular patron.
This place is Has very awesome food! We had the house salad and the dressing was spectacular! Garlic edamame, shrimp tempura roll and Philadelphia roll and all were excellent!. Plus they had the bonus of having a good beer selection including San Diego brewing company blueberry wheat beer which is one of my favorites. I highly recommend this place and you will not be disappointed!
Excellent sushi at a fair price with a great selection of beers. The owner gives personal service and cares about his customers! Thank you 🙏🏼 🍣 😊
Sei Sushi: Fresh Fish, Local Brews, and a Friendly Vibe Sei Sushi is a genuine neighborhood favorite. When it comes to the food, the quality is undeniable: the fish is consistently fresh and delicious, making every order excellent. Beyond the sushi, they keep a great selection of local beers on tap, which is perfect for unwinding. The best part, though, is the service. The staff treats patrons like a comfortable extended family, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that keeps you coming back. Check out Sei Sushi for quality food and a great crew. I'll be sure to share pics of my next meal, but in the meantime, it’s 😋!
Hidden gem! We found this restaurant after a day at the park, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and the staff was amazing. It’s not always easy going to a restaurant with three kids, but they were extremely welcoming and made us feel right at home. We’ll definitely be coming back—this might just become our go-to spot for family dinners!
Highly recommend! One of our favorite dinner spots. Fume & Seren are amazing always welcoming & great service.
Very homey spot that I now call my favorite spot. Couldn’t find many authentic locations till this one. Menu is priced “wallet-friendly” in my opinion. Friendly staff and well-prepared dishes at any given time, I comfortably feel right at home the moment I enter. They have decent specials for specific days of the week, do be sure to check them out when you’re in the area!

The food was delicious!! I had the awesome sushi roll & it was awesome in taste!! The only thing I did not like is at the end of the meal, they charge you an extra surcharge for using a credit/ debit card, & they do not tell you, until you are ready to pay!! They should do away with that surcharge, especially during the time of the pandemic when most people are not using cash right now!!
This spot earned a 3 Star rating, but the quality of the sushi, coupled with the fantastic service from Mika brought it up to a solid 4. The missing star is from no nigiri combo on the menu, coupled with no natto and prices that are above average. Will come back to see if owner really reads these and does something about it in the future….
Food was delicious, everything had so much flavor and I think the edamame was honestly the best garlic edamame I've ever had! The staff were so incredibly friendly, and the restaurant was clean and had a welcoming environment. The wait for the food was a little on the long side, but everything else was absolutely perfect
Nice sushi place that I've never noticed before! This place is close to my house and my roommate said she really enjoyed it so we decided to stop here quick before Christmas shopping. The service was pretty quick and it wasn't too crowded on a Wednesday night. We put in our order quick of the gyoza and Katsu bowl and they were out to us in less than 5 minutes. Both were Very tasty and hot! Gyoza were nice and savory with the sauce being just salty enough but not too much. The chicken katsu was very good, well breaded, moist, and the sauce was very, very delicious. She asked for extra to pour over her bowl to get down to the rice too. I've gotten the smokey tonkotsu ramen bowl and it's alright. The soup base of it seems a little off from typical tonkotsu ramens I have had. The chanshu seems to be cooked on a grill but I didn't really enjoy it. The texture wasn't the greatest. I'll probably stick to the katsu next time!
Chicken Katsu Curry was outstanding. Very generous portion. They need to make it a regular menu item instead of a limited time special. I'd get it all the time.

I didn't have the sushi, maybe next time. I went with the chicken curry katsu, spicy. The flavor was very good but I think they forgot to make it spicy. I didn't detect any spice to it. They have a nice selection of craft brews on tap and the service was very friendly. Overall I liked this place and will go again.

Memorable. The Grossmont roll is delicious. The house salad is really good. The amount of salad combined with the Grossmont roll is a great meal. The greens are fresh and crispy. It is the spicy raw carrot dressing which sends this salad to the next level. It's tangy with tantalizing heat to it. I could not get enough of it. When walking in I felt sense of relaxation. The TVs are going but turned down. The music, selected by the server, was Motown. Max seating is noted at 30 and some tables have been pushed to one side. Pricing is average, about $38 for salad, one roll, soft drinks and tip. I have been to See Sushi many times and plan to go back many times in the future. But, the disappointing part of today's visit was the pesky gnats flying around the food. I hope this is not a bigger problem and can be taken care quickly. For this purpose, I will go back soon to see if the problem is gone and I can edit this review to be more positive.
I was a huge fan of this place 3 times great service great fresh sushi. Maybe new Chef or new management. I’ve had better salmon cuts at the supermarket deli. And the uni was brown not yellow. Went from my favorite place to not an option.
Came in on saturday , daytime , ordered ramen , asked for a fresh egg, because last time it was from fridge cold and not fresh and overboiled, when ramen has to have an egg with fresh yolk. Waitress said that they are not Japanese since the Owner is Korean .... which creates questions since the sushi and ramen is Japanese authentic food. Wait time for ramen was 32 minutes , no one else was dining in the restaurant besides us ... also waiters are not trained properly to serve , they bring you plain sushi plate without any aditional plates to dine , which is awkward. I'll include the picture , but overall taste and quality of is good , prices are reasonable . Only concern is the service and service time . I hope owner would improve that , and give proper training to the staff!

I’ve been coming here for about a year and have loved getting vegetarian options at Sei. However, I got food poisoning last night after eating my take out! Agonizing. Staff is super kind, but I will never come back. After talking with friends, a lot of them have apparently gotten food poisoning after eating here… wish I had gotten the memo.
Stopped here at Sei Sushi for an early dinner with my son and daughter. My son really wanted to try their chicken katsu so we went in, sat down and ordered just the chicken katsu for him at a small corner table. Shortly after ordering, the waitress comes back and asked if we would be ordering anything else. I politely said “no, I think that’s it for now”. She then informed me that we cannot do that. We each have to order something. While I can understand why this policy is imposed, I find it simply unacceptable customer service. It is not posted in the website, menu nor anywhere easily displayed. I asked to cancel the order and just left and went to Banbu Sushi (excellent service there although it’s more expensive, you get better quality). For Sei Sushi, I recommend a better approach would have been an attempt to sell something like dessert, appetizer, or maybe at a discount… sales are better than refusing service and losing customers.
Stale sushi and not great service. Order took a while to arrive, to only arrive stale. I was asked if I wanted soy and was only served soy, no wasabi or ginger. Owner/Manager was clearly getting drunk at his restaurant. Poke bowl was a saving grace.
