Perfect place to go. Good service and comfortable setting. The food is delish. My go to is always the Showtime roll. This time I also had the pork ramen miso. So delish.
Always fire. The food is great. Super fresh.
Was very pleasantly surprised. It’s in a shopping mall complex and you walk in and the atmosphere is clean and everyone is so friendly and attentive. They get fresh produce and it tastes really good. They have a ton of toll options most of them have a tempura element to it. Definitely will come back.
Delicious food, always made fresh to order. Staff members here are consistently friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They've got quite a variety of dishes as well, so regardless of how picky you are, you'll be sure to find something to suit your taste. Sushi, teriyaki, tempura & so much more!
The outside does not look inviting but it’s a great restaurant. The sushi is really tasty, my server was super nice and it’s a really pretty place inside.
Excellent sushi, haven't had a bad roll since I have been going there!!!

Absolutely love Tabu Sushi Bar & Grill. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — some of the best sushi in the area. Service is attentive without being overbearing, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is modern, relaxed, and perfect whether you’re out on a date or grabbing dinner with friends. Every visit has been a great experience. Highly recommend.
Tony and staff are incredible! He is always surprising us with his new creations and always serving the tastiest and freshest fish in town! We love coming here! Great service food and vibes.
I took my girlfriend here on a sushi date. Staff was friendly host was nice. Great Customer Service. Overall great atmosphere and good place to take your significant other. Five stars.
Great sushi, expansive menu, wonderful service. Santos is one of the best sushi chefs around. My go to sushi restaurant when visiting San Diego
I particularly enjoy Taboo for its easily accessible location to Cuyamaca College, the food quality and the portion size. I have been 4 or 5 times at midday, and my favorite dish is the salmon bento lunch special The very adept wait staff helps ensure an enjoyable experience.

I absolutely love this place. Everything I’ve had here is a 10/10 especially when Tony is making my food. Highly suggest sitting right in front of him for the best experience ever. Already dreaming of my next visit!

Great sushi and fresh sashimi are offered for reasonable prices. I tried the Ceviche roll that had no rice in it and it was very good. I did not like their way of paying the bill before I got to see the receipt. The receipt was printed optionally after paying. The place is too noisy as well. I don't know, their walls do not absorb the sound, they reflect it. But their sushi is good and worth trying at least to order it to go
This place surprised me. Our Sushi rolls were very artistic and delicious. I ordered the Hamachi Kama, it took a minute to cook but it was very good.

The rolls were awesome, but the service wasn't so great. My friend and I seemed to annoy our waitress with not knowing what we wanted yet. It was our first time there and we weren't sure. Then we were forgotten about to order for a while. Then once we got our appetizers, our waitress comes back asking if we want dessert. We commented about eating our rolls first, that we were still waiting on, and she admitted to forgetting about them. She even added that it got busy and she wasn't paying attention. Why would you tell your customers that? It seemed unprofessional and she was kind of rude the whole time.

With all the options out there I would save yourself the trouble. Only low sodium soy sauce to start with which is slightly annoying because if I wanted watered down soy sauce I would just add it to regular soy sauce. The hand roll was the smallest hand roll I've ever had out of potentially over a hundred handles in my life. I asked for missago added to my hand roll which they forgot. I had to ask for refills. I wasn't checked on once. The atmosphere was really nice. The design and lay out of the space was very nice. The sticky rice was a 3 and 1/2 out of five. I wouldn't say it was a horrible experience by any measure but mediocre is a term that comes to mind as I sit in the parking lot post meal thinking about my experience. As I said with all the options we have for good sushi in San Diego you probably want to try somewhere else. To the ownership, with just a little bit of tweaking here and there you could easily be a four or a five star. At least give people the option for full sodium soy sauce. I'm not even sure that authentic Japanese would even consider low sodium soy sauce since it's nothing more than watered down soy sauce. As an adult I can choose to just use less if I would like less sodium.

They forgot to put cream cheese in my PHILLY roll when that's what makes it a Philly roll and I also received the most botched rainbow roll ever with only 1 slice of sushi roll of shrimp in it and avacado botched all over the roll, i grew up coming here and the quality has declined, sorry to write this review but you guys can do better!!! I've tasted so much better from tabu! If I get food poisoning I'm gonna be so mad because the fish tasted a little so fishy too!

I normally don’t post reviews but we tried Tabu Sushi in Rancho San Diego for the first time and it was awful. We went to the one in Santee several years ago and were underwhelmed, but wanted sushi and were in the area of this location. The outside of the restaurant was dirty, no signs or stickers on the door, so at first it appeared closed, and multiple unhoused people were hanging around. The inside of the restaurant was okay but the men’s restroom was disgusting. My spicy shrimp ramen was tasteless, had no spice, 2-3 shrimp pieces, a few pieces of unidentifiable vegetables and some of the noodles were clumped together. They brought out my ramen with no utensil to eat it with and then completely forgot my husband’s food. After 10 minutes, I nicely asked them to check on it and they brought it 5-10 minutes later, but the rice was cold. A table next to us complained that there soda was flat. Between the price, atmosphere and taste, we will not return.
I was recommended to come to this place and for a first time customer I was disgusted! The woman on the phone had recommended this roll to me and I decided to try it and asked for no cream cheese due to my allergies, I picked up one piece and as soon as I did I noticed there was cream cheese and a surprise to my eyes, there was a long strand of hair IN the roll. Absolutely horrendous!! Never again.
People come back here and rate it 4 or more stars? Why? I ordered the teriyaki “entree” which apparently includes one scoop of white rice a small portion of chicken cut into tiny pieces and maybe 2 ounces of sliced vegetables… and no teriyaki sauce or flavor. I’ve had better teriyaki bowls from a grocery store for $8. Oh yeah this “entree” was $22!!! But it did come with a small house salad with nasty house dressing. Who keeps coming back and paying for this lol. Service at the door was great, greeted with a smile and directed to the counter. 22 dollars… why??? So disappointed when I opened the food container lol. What’s hilarious is the bowl is $2 less for the exact same thing… wonder how much smaller the portion is? Maybe I just ordered the worst item on the menu and nobody knew how to make it because nobody orders it?

I had a takeout from here on December 31st, 2023. Every time I drive by it, I am reminded of how bad the food was. The spicy tuna roll was terrible. The fish was not fresh. I also ordered the chicken katsu. They used fat pieces of chicken breast, lol. It took 20 minutes to fry.
