Really enjoyed my breakfast here. I was in millbrae because my flight landed the night before - I was starving but wanted an authentic booth style diner experience. Peter’s is the perfect rainy morning vibe. Endless coffee, delicious pancakes, and eggs just how you want them. Would come back.
Great breakfast spot before heading to the airport. Food was Americana diner executed to perfection - unassuming, simple, delicious. The two-egg and bacon/sausage special was served with two fluffy buttermilk pancakes and a cup of fresh fruit. Service was warm, welcoming, attentive. Will be back here again.
Wonderful staff. The waitress was cued into the fact I was a low carber because I asked for no bread and a salad instead of fries. My salad came with no croutons, beets, etc. That is pretty awesome. And they make their own ranch dressing. It was so good !!
The coolest retro-feeling diner and the food was fantastic.
Old time diner and family owned. Whenever I am in Milbrae I come here. I just ordered the ham steak breakfast, amazing! Even better, they are one of the few restaurants in the area that butters their toast! I love this place!
French toast was amazing and our waitress was really kind and attentive.
If you want an old school diner this is right up your alley. The people are nice the service is good and the ambiance fits. I don't think it's been renovated for 50 years. The food is typical greasy spoon American classic, delicious. Air conditioning is killer and will appreciated. Like everything prices are higher than they should be but it's not their fault.
First time at Peters…we were looking for traditional breakfast dive near SFO. Saw on the web that they make some Hawaiian favorites like eggs with Spam or linguica, Loco Moco, and that sealed it. Had a very good breakfast, friendly service at the counter, and our questions about the reason for Hawaiian dishes were answered. I’ve tried to find out the history of the building’s classic roadside diner weirdness, but no results yet. We’ll be back.
Served me and did not discriminate against me for being ugly and having missing teeth and being a general weirdo HAHAHAHA of course they didn't, and the food is prepared very quickly and is very tasty and the location is perfect (right next to the Millbrae BART/Caltrain station) and the prices are not crazy-expensive like how everybody always complains about in Bay Area. Take care! God bless you and your restaurant and all your staff. - Josh
This is nice cozy diner style cafe. The breakfast items are delicious and well cook. Service is quick and the staff is really kind as well
I love Peter's! Its an old school breakfast ND lunch spot with old vinyl booths and retro charm. Food is well above average, with homemade bread, real maple syrup, and interesting combinations. Service is good but not fussy. All round excellent spot.
Classic retro diner with above average food quality and awesome staff. Thank you!
I’ve been coming to this place for a long time now and felt everyone should know this place. The atmosphere takes me back in time to the ’60s. The staff are sweet and the food is to die for. Everything on the menu is delicious and tastes amazing. I love how there are so many options to choose from breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert
Went to Peter's for breakfast. We were greeted coming thru the door and was promptly seated with menus. After ordering food it came quickly. Eggs, home fries, toast, bacon and sausage were delicious. Home fries had the perfect mix of potatoes, grilled peppers and onions. Love getting a carafe of coffee for the table which was hot and flavorful. At so many places, once you get food, staff disappears. Not at Peter's, as the staff checked on us multiple times to ensure we were satisfied and if we needed anything else. Definitely will be back. We want to try the homemade sausage.
Very down to earth, customer friendly resturant. Wendy took care of us and she is kind, compassionate and awesome with her smiling service. Staff is super efficient and food was delectable. We loved all the orders and the portions were sufficient. Easy parking.
Best breakfast in Millbrae hands down.
Had breakfast 🥞, good, tasty breakfast, service was awesome 👍
Traditional cafe style feel. Peter, the owner, is always smiling and welcoming. Ive been going there for years with my son and they always comment how old and handsome he's getting. Portions are perfect for price. Not too small. Very tasty and they ALWAYS get my eggs right!!
The breakfast was Awesome. Big portions. Had the Eggs Benedict with Hashbrowns. Ordered it slightly crispy that's how I enjoy it. My hubby had the NY Steak & eggs. A good, thick portion was seved with eggs cooked med rare. Son had a cheese burger with fries. The staff is very friendly & attentive . We're visiting from Los Angeles. Its been a long time since we've eaten here. Glad the food tastes the same.
This restaurant has THE BEST pancakes ever! The staff are courteous and efficient. Great location and locally owned! If you don't like pancakes (weird, but it's OK) there are plenty of other great dishes to choose from, omelets, Loco Moco, burgers... So happy to see that they are back open and still serving a great breakfast!
Very nice and friendly servers. Good location
This restaurant has it all. The food is outstanding. If you want pancakes that remind you of the pancakes that were so delicious and cooked to perfection by your Mom, Peter's is the place to go. You want a REAL fresh cooked hamburger and cooked to your likes, Peter's is the place. I've eaten hamburgers in alot of restaurants. No one and I mean no one makes a hamburger that comes anywhere close to Peter's hamburger! I can't make a hamburger that good in my own kitchen and believe me I've tried. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Great place to have breakfast or lunch with a friend and not be rushed. Peter and his staff makes sure each customer feels special. The portions of food allow you to have another meal at home. My friend and I can't say enough good things about Peter's Cafe. BEST CAFE IN MILLBRAE!!
One of my favorite diners in the Bay Area. I moved from the peninsula years ago and there’s not many diners I’ve been to that come close to Peter’s Cafe. I came by after a race and ordered the Spanish Omelette. It wasn’t quite the traditional style but still really delicious. It’s worth it to come by for the typical American breakfast as well as their specials.
If you’re in to old school diners with real food, not the frozen stuff, then this is your place to eat. I had the meat lasagna special. It came out hot with a sliced hoagie roll buttered and toasted. On the side was a generous helping of steamed broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, and squash. Hit the spot! Oh yeah, and apple pie...
💯 On Point. And depending on the Atmosphere and what the time of day it is quite energetic. Sensational Experience. You will have a positive experience from their friendly and positive staff and enjoy some nice and hearty meals from easy cooking classics, to some Not quite easy to cook from by-scratch classics.. Hollandaise Eggs Benedict.
Great place! I came all the way from Texas to visit family and I told them I wanted to go to Pete's! It never disappoints!
Just had breakfast at Peters. What a gem. Possibly best breakfast we have ever had and definitely top 10 for sure. Fresh and delicious in an old school cafe environment. Super clean, and great staff! Loved it! Thanks! Had the German baby too and it was an experience but we were happy we didn’t have it as our only breakfast. Everything else was really great!
We came for brunch on Mother’s Day while stuck at the Milbrae station waiting for our train. The staff was incredibly accommodating of our high-energy children and inconvenient luggage. Service was fast, food was good. The fries were good—this establishment changes their frying oil! Very comfy feeling and decent prices for the area.
we were on our way to san francisco and wanted a good old fashion breakfast and this place did not disappoint! we went on a monday around 11am, there was only a handful of customers. service was fast and very friendly. we had the two egg breakfast and biscuits and gravy, very healthy servings! plenty of parking and prices were comparable to a chain, so didn't mind paying what we did for a small business. if you want fancy, this is not it. but it was definitely one of the best breakfasts we have had on a trip, so much that we may stop by here again next time in route to SF.
We were visiting from out of town and stopped in for breakfast halfway through our trip. What an amazing lil spot. Since our first visit, we have made it a point to eat there daily. We love the food and the service! The food is made with care and is fresh. I subbed a salad and the salads are are fresh, washed, and crisp, with delicious homemade ranch. A classic BLT is my fave. Dessert is highly recommended too!! Make sure to visit this awesome place!
I've been going here for years. I would always go here for breakfast and dinner. I would pick up dinner here and I was too tired to cook after work. I loved the lasagna and prime rib. Now after covid they are only open for brunch which I'm kind of sad about but I totally understand. I came here for teriyaki steak and eggs with a side of corn beef hash and rice. I can't wait to come back and get my other favorites chicken fried steak and belgian waffle 😋
The food here is so good, and there are great options if you're on a low carb diet like me. Hubby got the loco moco (NOT low carb), I got the Farmer's omelette with a side of hollandaise sauce and tomatoes. The service is excellent. They refilled my tea three times, and they give you your own pot of coffee. Love Peter's!
This is truly a no frills place. Makes you feel like you traveled back in time, which is hard to find in this area. Service is always top notch and friendly.
I used to come here when as a teenager back when it was 24 hours way back in the day and make a point to come whenever I'm back in the bay area. In my memory the home fries used to have more seasoning but otherwise they've stayed beautifully consistent. Great diner vibe, great service.
Cute little mom and pop cafe in San Fran! We swung in around 7am for breakfast before our adventure in the city. It was quiet and really cute themed! Very 80s dinner vibes. We enjoyed a long breakfast planning our day and the waitress was so kind to us. Would definitely return again! Be advised, there was a sign on the door alerting patrons of frequent break-ins as to not leave items in cars. So we brought our luggage in with us. Seems to be an issue at the time we went, Sept 2023z
Old school American diner. The hash browns were the stars of my country fried steak & eggs breakfast. Eggs were cooked go order. For twenty bucks I do feel that the steak portions could have been bigger.
Love Peter and the crew! Spicy egg white Milano is my go-to and ALWAYS delicious. Diner style, friendly Cheers-vibe!
Peter's Cafe is a very old and very nice place for breakfast. The atmosphere, food and service is very much like an IHOP. The service is always very efficient and friendly, and the ommlets are really good. Service is fast if you ask for it.
After a long night of fun and drinks, I needed a good breakfast spot, especially since I we were staying the Westin, which was hosting a conference and was super busy in the morning. After some research and craving comfort food, the family and I decided on this spot. It’s within walking distance, but we drove which was convenient and there was plenty of parking on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m. Their menu features dishes like loco moco, steak and eggs, burgers, hot and cold sandos that caught my eye, but I wanted something hearty. I knew a chicken fried steak would hit the spot, so I decided to share it with my partner. My sister ordered a burger, that hit. Her fries and burger both looked absolutely delicious, and the chicken fried steak was fantastic! We also ran into a few friends from the wedding party, which just reaffirmed that this place is known for great food. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Overall, worth the cheat meal!
Peter’s Cafe in Millbrae, CA, is a must-visit! The food is top-notch with generous portions and great prices. The staff are super attentive and friendly, giving it that classic diner feel. It’s like getting a home-cooked breakfast every time. If you're in town, this place is a no-brainer. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in San Francisco. Highly recommend checking it out!
Classic American breakfast diner type. Ambience was great, food was delicious!! Especially liked the classic pancakes which had really great mouthfeel and the generous serving of hash browns. We also ordered a German baby pancake, very much worth the wait!! Also enjoyed the Loco Moco, sauce was very flavorful. The couple who owned the place was very hands-on and answered all our questions about the menu items happily. Service excellent!
Pricey...but you get a lot of food for the money. I had the Farmer's Omlet with spicy sausage, hash browns, a side of french toast (one piece) and a latte. Delicious. The food was absolutely delicious. Came out fast and tasted wonderful. Latte was well sized and was also on point. The restaurant has that older, nostalgic, diner feel...which I like. While a dated look is maintained everything is clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I did not sit for any length of time without being attended to. Once I had my food they left me be to enjoy. Cleared my plates when I was done and only brought my check after I had finished my latte. A great breakfast spot and I highly recommend it.
Food was good. Service was good except for when we were trying to get the waitress' attention to get a glass or water. They were not very attentive but, I would visit again if I'm in town. Very tasty!
Reminds you of the old dinner back home as soon as you walk in ❤️. Quick and friendly service, food came about 5 min after we ordered. Food was exactly what we wanted, great taste, great value and the staff checked on us a few time to make sure everything was good and if we need anything. Three of us with drinks and the bill was $58. Definitely coming back here.
A classic diner, with great tasting breakfast/brunch items. The service is excellent and I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to get a seat. If you come here, make sure you get the omelets, as they come with light fluffy pancakes or toast as well as hash browns or home fries giving you an impressive amount of food for the price. Will definitely be heading here again!
No frills diner, food was mostly standard. German pancake was a unique dish. Service friendly but didn't love the layout of the big six person table that made it difficult for our group to have a conversation
My first breakfast visit to Peter's, while visiting friends in Cali, was an absolute delight, with great food, RAPID service, and a really appealing eclectic atmosphere. I knew I'd be coming back. The second visit, although less busy at the time, there was a slight drop off in service, as I noticed some time lapsed between being seated and having my server come to my table. Once she finally got around to me, I was able to order and got my food relatively quickly...and as before, the food was really good! 4.25 stars outta 5 - I will definitely be back the next time I visit South City.
Retro place that has all the diner food and breakfast .I'm only taking one star away because they close at 3 pm and this would be the perfect spot after a movie or to get some take out at night. Not sure why they aren't open late since they are close to the airport as well, but it is what it is. Ppl are nice service was fast food was good. This is a regular haunt for my pal Mike that lives in town.Next time I visit I'm sure we'll be back.
Very very cozy, and awesome real American diner
Cute spot. Lots of parking, it was pretty dead when I went in. I'd like to come back and try some other items but I gor breakfast food and a coffee. Staff was nice.
Wow, real hand dipped whole Onion Rings!!!! Quaint, nostalgic diner right out of the early 60s, complete with vinyl seats and whopping large Milkshakes. Looks closed and out of biz from the outside, and dated but nice on the inside, but the speedy and pleasant service are a welcome treat.
Old school kinda place. Not too busy on a Smokey Sunday Morning. Got seated right away and looked through the long menu. Got Peters special omelette that included ground beef, mushroom, spinach, garlic. Lots of crispy hash brown and a plate of pancakes. Way more than I could eat. Good thing I brought a friend. And we still could not finish it. Service was fast. Coffee was good. Orange juice not fresh squeezed but so it goes.
The food was good, but when you take the cost and the portion size into account, the overall value was just okay. However, I must give Peter's Cafe a 4 for its stellar atmosphere and service. We came in not too long before closing but they still served and accommodated us with great attention. Its an older, cozier joint, and you'll find yourself becoming friends with the staff quickly. Good theming/decor and cozy booth seating. They even had hooks to place bags and jackets so they wouldn't take up space at your table. Nifty, right? Overall, I would come again to have a good dining experience with friends and family. 4/5.
Fried chicken and cream sauce were so good. The toasts were crispy. I requested runny eggs, they were perfect. Personally, I prefer the house fries to be cooked a little bit more but they were good. They prepare jams, condiments, hot sauce, coffee cream and sugar on the table for you. I got really good service. The atmoshphere was quite unique and I like the vintage they keep inside the restaurant.
The food is better than Denny's. I'm pretty sure that they use canola oil. My body has a distinctive reaction to canola oil. I'll be over in that area tomorrow (03/08), I'll ask when I order a coffee. 03/14, (update), I knowingly ordered fried garbage. This food is garbage to those of the population that do not normally begin our day with fried foods, I did today.
Never been to the place. It's down the street from the Millbrae skatepark. It's a cool place. Very old school inside I like that they serve beer. I ordered eggs benedict. I really liked that they poach two eggs very soft. Because a lot of places screw it up and make them hard. The whole point of poached egg is to be soft. So they nailed it in my book. Everyone was very friendly. I like how When customers came in they knew them by first name. Very close to the Millbrae. Train station right off El Camino The breakfast was an outstanding, but it wasn't bad. If you're looking for a quiet breakfast. I definitely recommend this place. There's a lot of bad reviews about theft and stuff. I don't know much about that. But anywhere in the Bay Area. People Rob so I don't know what that has to do with anything. Keep up the good work.
This was quite an experience, I was excited to try this place out and got a few things out of it. We tried a few meals; I found that the fried food had the same lingering after taste, made me wonder when was the last time they changed out there cooking oil. There hand made parties were good, a bit thick for my taste but good none the less. We tried the pancakes and they were fluffy and delicious! We ordered more! So for the pancakes alone, I would go back there.
Owner seems to bark orders at staff while he sits there at the counter sharing fried chicken from another place with a few friends or regulars. I have never been impressed with this place. The counter seats seem like they are going fall off. Booth cushion were really old. It is an old place with good location near Bart. Bathroom was disgusting. Bacon and cheese omelette was. Pretty bad. Bacon was undercooked. Hash browns, pancakes and coffee was good.. staff was friendly.
The food was below average. There is no sense of customer service orientation. The lady who took orders was extremely confused. Any question we dun have. Portion is big on some dishes. Coffee is really bad. They have only normal milk. The expectation of tips is crazy in USA as, they do not have customer service in a proper way but, still expect a tip. Do ur job properly then ask for tips. The owner was friendly though.
Ordered a turkey bacon club on a croissant. The croissant was so stale the fries weee just ok. My daughter ordered Swedish pancakes that we could have left. Ended up eating a little later at Caffe Central in Burlingame which was absolutely amazing!!!!
I was first person in line to be served but the girl on shift decided to serve the person who came after me instead.
I don’t know what’s worse, but I’ll let you decide. Frozen blueberries, uncooked batter, and 1 of 2 pancakes that could be considered a blueberry pancake. Coffee is as you’d expect at a diner that hasn’t invested in a paint job since 1994, and that’s not an exaggeration. I walked in smelling like fresh laundry and walked out smelling like their grease and smoke. I went to Mills; this is where we came for breakfast or all night study sessions. I know this place well enough to recognize the same coffee mugs they used back then in 1994. Just paid walked out after taking half a bite. The owner looked straight at my counter plate and acknowledged my order because it hadn’t been touched. Clearly they do not care about your food, comfort or experience.
