Opinions de Rice Junky El Camino Real
The appetizers and ramen that they served were unbelievably fresh, compared to other Japanese restaurants nearby. I really enjoyed the takoyaki because it was just so soft and piping hot! The atmosphere is very chill, which is great for a small gathering. The price is a bit over the average price, but it is very much worth it because of the freshness of their food.
The bowls here are hands-down some of the best value you’ll find—generous, flavorful, and totally satisfying. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. The food itself is literally irresistible. Every bite of the teokbokki was packed with bold, spicy flavor, and paired perfectly with a cold beer. It’s the kind of spot that’s perfect for a late-night hangout—casual, fun, and full of energy. The vibe of sitting, eating, and sipping while enjoying the atmosphere is just unbeatable. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or looking to hang out with friends late into the night, this place hits all the marks. Delicious food, great drinks, welcoming staff, and a chill, lively environment make it one of those spots you’ll want to return to again and again.
Got the Kimchi Udon and it was soo delicious perfectly spicy but not unbearable, perfect for a cold rainy night, and also had the Bulgogi Wrap and also a 10/10 the egg fried rice mixed with the sweet/spicy Bulgogi was amazing. Definitely would come back.
literally sooo delicious and such a great late night spot, drinking beer and eating teokkboki was the coolest vibe ever! ALSO insanely well stocked bathroom (at least for women) like you can tell they value their customers
This is the spot to go to for your next Korean food and drinks night out. Rice Junky has multiple locations in Bay Area and I visited the one in Santa Clara. It’s a delicious tapas style pocha where you can get items to share. We tried their new menu items like the PX soup, dancing nakji and seafood cream ddeokbokki. The portions were huge and the prices are reasonable. They also have a promotion where you can get a free welcome drink with the purchase of an alcoholic beverage.
Went here for a late night out with my friend and it was perfect. They’re open until midnight everyday (closed sundays). The place has fun neon signs and K-pop posters, and it’s a great spot to eat, drink, and be loud with friends. The service was honestly amazing. Everyone was super attentive and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Joe took care of us and he was the best. He kept checking in, made sure we had everything we needed, and really made the whole experience feel extra fun. We got the dancing octopus stir fry and it was amazing! Spicy, flavorful, and the octopus was super tender. The kimchi mala was also really good, with sweet potato noodles, tofu, and a generous portion of beef. I do wish the beef was cut into smaller pieces, but the flavor was great. Especially if you like malatang! I tried the creamy seafood tteokbokki too. It had clams, fish cake, and only one shrimp. I love the concept but there were bell peppers in it. I don't like bell peppers so this was a skip for me. For drinks, we got the High Jus, basically soju highballs. So good and strong. And they give you a welcome drink when you order alcohol, which is such a fun touch. Great late-night spot overall!
The food here was so delicious definitely recommend coming here prices are reasonable as well as the portion size you should definitely come check this place out if you haven’t your honestly missing out the decorations are such a vibe the place is very nice an clean it be making you feel like you are in Korea they also go over beyond for you definitely coming here again btw this was my first time coming here! :)
Solid Korean pub-style food with all your usual favorites like seafood pancake, tteokbokki, and fried chicken! We also had the skewers and pork bulgogi bowl, nothing disappointed. Although the chestnut makgeolli was sold out, we tried the melon flavor instead and it was really nice! Think they added some fresh aloe in there and I love when places do this so it’s not just the same as a bottle I could buy from the market. And I especially love when it comes in the urns or teapots that make it feel more authentic or like something you would find in Korea. The little touches like this is fun! The service was really fast. You order from the table tablets which was convenient.
If you want a genuine "pocha" experience - a Korean-style tapas plus drinks - look no further. Rice Junky provides a funky and fun decor and experience with no frills, no snooty, everyday good comfort food and drinks. This is a perfect place for hanging out with friends and others. Be ready to be part of a gaggle, be loud and fun. It's just a happy place! Now, Rice Junky has a wide variety of category of food but surprisingly is well controlled in not trying to do "everything". They dishes are positioned like tapas where the portions are surprisingly small, compared to regular Korean restaurants. But it's not done in an offensive way. It's just that you'll be surprised to see such small pajeon or chicken, etc. The initial impression of "cheap" prices thus quickly dissipates away. Now, to compensate, the quality of the food is in general top notch. Korean fried chicken here is magical, and a lot of the ramen and udon are also great. Having this caliber of food at a bar again is respectable. But again, who goes to Rice Junky to just eat? It's all about the drinks. So many different types of soju cocktails as well as a decent selection of pitchers. And again, each table houses 6 comfortably. You don't go to Rice Junky to eat by yourself. You go here because it's the weekend and you're going to have a great time. Go early. Waits can get brutal as tables seldom open up once the party begins. A great addition to El Camino Korea Town.
My wife and I recently enjoyed a fantastic dining experience at this Korean-American restaurant. The food was fresh, delicious, and had a touch of American flavor. I had the BBQ pork with kimchi rice, which had an amazing smoky flavor. The aroma of the grill was enticing, reminiscent of charcoal-cooked kabobs. My wife loved her crispy and delicious chicken bowl. The restaurant's ambiance was great, with BTS-style pictures adorning the walls. The restroom was exceptionally clean and well-equipped, offering dental and women's care products. It's a rare find in San Jose to have a late-night dining option, making this place even more appealing. Overall, it's an amazing restaurant that combines tasty food, a trendy atmosphere, and convenient hours. Highly recommended!
if you’re hungry and want huge portions for a good price this is the spot!!!! never been to a restaurant with a robo waiter before so that was cool— you can order and pay on your phone and then just sit back and wait for the robot. flavorful and filling. the bowl is probably the best bang for your buck. the staff were all really friendly and helpful.
Came here for lunch last November. It was a good experience. Food was fresh and good, Staff was friendly and helpful. Restroom was super clean, well stocked and thoughtful. I was totally impressed... Aesthetically decorated. Easy to order from an individual device installed on each table. Cozy and relaxing environment.
Rice Junky is a cool korean fusion restaurant that offers a vast menu with different eats. It definitely is good food that is meant to be paired with alcohol but still enough to just have a regular meal with After a certain time, they turn off the lights to give off a pocha vibe especially with all the neon aesthetics Plenty of parking in the lot but can get pretty busy if the neighboring restaurants get busy. Overall pretty good food would recommend their CC chicken Btw the have on table tablet ordering and a robot server
Been to rice junkie multiple times for lunch as well as for dinner. The service is always quick and fast however I do not like the new digital menu that they have especially if you’re on the tables close to the wall. Their selection of sauces is always very interesting and I’m yet to try them all. The ambience is somewhere in between a fancy restaurant and a fast casual. Definitely get their corn and cheese combination either with the chicken or with the pork. Lunch for two with a drink and appetizer was $30 per person.
This place is one of those random hidden spots between several grocery stores on El Camino! We really liked the quick service and the cocktails here. The food was good but extremely oily. We had the soju cocktails, Kimchi Chun, Croquette and Chicken Dupbop. We did not get to see the robot though!
We went in for a late lunch on Saturday. We weren't sure if this was more of a drinking place or restaurant. I had the chicken bowl and my wife had the chicken plate. We are split on our opinions of this place. I liked the food, but she felt it was too "fusion" and not authentic. The one thing we did agree upon was about the fact there's no paper menu. You have to order with your smartphone aged scanning a QR code. We love tech, but this was poorly implemented. It gets confused if two people look at the menu simultaneously on their own phones. Somehow, it lost our order and we had to wait much longer to get our food. Service was generally slow. But the prices were very reasonable for the quantity of food. The atmosphere is young and trendy. Walls are covered in kpop idols, giving it a gen-z vibe. We felt a little out of place.
Always a good place for Ramen. I had the seafood Ramen with Manila clams. Tasty broth, but a touch more sodium than I liked. Others in my family had the pork belly with salted whole egg. Again, they too remarked on the slight saltiness. We also had the Korean style fried chicken wings. That was Yummy .All in all great service, quick, and tasty food. As always, post your own foodie adventure wherever it may take u.
They use a cute robot to deliver your food to your table! I know this has been a norm in Asia countries but it is still quite a sight to see it here in the Bay Area. Food wise it was decent. The Firery Mountain ramen was too spicy (you can't change spicy level) but the CC chicken and pork skewers were Perfecto.
Beef Skewer 2 too raw, too chewy, medium flavorful Kimchi Rice 2 not fried Spicy Pork Sizzling Pan 4 juicy, mild spicy, flavorful, corn cheese Junky Ramen 3 instant noodles, fish cakes, flavorful soup
Decided to try Rice Junky out off of Yelp! You order through your phone which isn't my preference..but oh well. 2 of us ordered: - cc chicken pan dish (sweet and spicy) $15.99, chicken was quite good. Corn cheese in the picture made it look a lot bigger. -seafood pancake $12.99, good pancake, but it was a veggie one...no texture of any seafood present. Might have had some seafood taste? But maybe they sprinkled some powder. No squid, octopus, shrimp etc -crunch pork bowl $15.99, kimchi fried rice did not have much flavor. I did enjoy the pork quite a bit. Overall, food was good, but definitely had room for improvement. Parking is easy to find in the plaza.
Ordered kimchi upon and chicken bowl. Kimchi upon - not recommended. It had no taste... it was literally made with kimch + water + upon noodle Chicken bowl with kimchi fried rice - found like 4pcs of tiny kimchi in the fried rice that had no flavor and their fried chicken had almost no chicken but just fried batter with no chicken in it!
