Opinions de BN Chicken Santa Clara
Best ginseng chicken soup place in Bay Area. Cold noodle soup is also awesome. It's a Southern variation (Jin-ju style) a bit different from typical North Korean styles you may have encountered before.
SF Chronicle: It’s hard to find samgyetang in the Bay Area, but Santa Clara’s BN Chicken has you covered. You get a whole bird in each order ($21.99), stuffed with glutinous rice, ginseng and garlic, then gently cooked in a healthful broth that’s chock-full of herbs and dried goodies like jujube. Medicinal add-ons, like perilla seed and black garlic, are especially popular with customers who primarily eat here for the health benefits. The soup is more than just medicine, though: It’s pure comfort food, with a complex and rich broth that soothes. Come back in the summer for the restaurant’s limited-edition cold noodles ($15.99), a refreshing tonic for steamy South Bay days.
5 stars all the way!! Enjoyed this place since I moved to the Bay area. You must try their samgyetang they are pretty popular for this dish, but also try their fried chicken. Its really good. I was pretty surprised their fried chicken was so good. They have plenty pf parking spaces. Usually they only have one server on the floor. When it gets busy, the service can get a bit slow, but its worth the wait. Definitely a must try place. They have the best samgyetang in town.
I haven't had samgyetang or naengmyeon many times in the bay area, but the dishes served here were delicious. The whole chicken was very tender and flavored well, served in a small bowl fit for one person. A scoop with chicken, broth and rice feels wonderful and comforting in the palette. The cold noodle was the most appropriate on a hot summer day. I loved the ingredients used, especially slices of pineapple and pear which complements the coldness of the dish. Will definitely come back and try the spicy versions.
The place is clean and quiet. Even there are not many choices on the menu, the food tastes great. We had ginseng chicken soup, sea food noodle, and fried chicken breast. The soup is delicious. Chicken is well stuffed with sweet rice, ginseng, pine nuts, chestnuts, red dates. The sea food noodle has lots of clams and the shrimps are big. The fried chicken is crispy outside and tender inside. The sauce goes very well with it. We will definitely visit it again soon.
Their Samgyetang (Whole Chicken Ginseng Soup) is awesome, especially the one with black garlic (really unique!). But their Chicken Noodle Soup is the best (and probably only!) in all of NorCal. Definitely a must try here... Especially on cold days. You'll love it!
The samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) is what they are known for... my favorite is the black garlic. The soup comes out piping hot so make sure you don't burn your tongue. The soup is full of rich flavor. The chicken is stuffed with rice, seeds, chestnut, and ginseng. Watch out for small chicken bones. They conveniently have little metal bins to discard them on the table. Perfect food for winter or summer.
Ginseng chicken soup is delicious! The broth is tasty, the meat is tender, and everything inside of the chicken is stewed perfectly and mixed well altogether. Cold broth noodles are delicious too! (Highly recommended by my friend)
I was going here before they did a remodel. Their soups are really good. The texture of the chicken is super soft. There is a reason why they remodeled, business is good, food is good
A small, local Korean restaurant that serves excellent Samgetang, which is ginseng chicken soup. The chicken is tender, sweet, and flavorful. The soup contains a variety of spices and dates, and is full of umami. I also get the fried wings but I think their best dish is the ginseng chicken soup
The chicken soup really hit the spot today! Whole small chicken is in the hot stone pot and keeps it hot the whole time! The kimchee was so delicious and it pairs so well with the soup. I will definitely go back especially when I need comfort soup!
Still the best samgyetang in Bay Area. I've been coming to this place when I am craving for ginseng chicken soup (samgyetang). Portion enough for 2 meals for me. This place was packed during lunch time. The basic sam gyetang cost $27 plus tax plus tips. So be aware before dining here. Only has one server an elderly man who serve the whole restaurant, probably to keep it open as rent is expensive. But service is fast, no need to wait too long. In and out in 30-40 minutes if you are dining in. Don't compare to samgyetang in Seoul in price or quality as the airfare ticket cost way more than $35 😂
BN chicken is famous for ginseng chicken soup. Best in the Bay Area. Cold noodle is also good. But a little expensive than the normal Korean restaurant, I still recommend to visit BN chicken.
The chicken soups are great! Very traditional and thick! Cold noodles are chewy and tasty as well impressive! Staffs are very cute grandpa and granny, kind and lovely!
So glad I found this place for Korean ginseng chicken soup! We ordered the original and the red ginseng version. Both are great! I like the red ginseng one a bit more. The soup is warm and flavorful, it just hits the spot! We got takeout and the soup is piping hot and very well packaged. I imagine eating at the restaurant would be even better. The service on the phone is super friendly. The chicken wings are good too, but not as special as the soup. We'll definitely be back again! :)
Samgyetang (chicken soup) was amazing. Very flavorful. A co-worker brought me here today for lunch. I didn't realize they have samgyetang here. I enjoyed these very much and often when I was in Gwangju and Seoul, specially during uber cold season. Noticeably they use game hen chickens here, in SK they use small sized normal chicken, but it's all good just the same. Definitely now one of my go-to place for chicken soup.
THE best samgyetang I've ever had! I ordered the regular samgyetang and it was phenomenal. The chicken was fresh and tender. The sticky rice and dates inside the chicken were very flavorful. The kimchi (which comes as a side) here was also top-notch, adding to the chicken an additional dimension of flavor and texture. The portion is generous as well. A whole young stuffed chicken would fill your tummy for sure. Will definitely come back.
First time here after seen it on KBS channel. Very good and delicious. Order regular plus black garlic. Add this to my favorite dish and will come back.
I like their chicken wings instead of the signature chicken soup. The wings are not over fried.
The chicken soup is very delicious! 🤤 A whole chicken with some sticky rick stuffed inside. Tastes good and feels healthy!

Ordered the regular ginseng chicken soup and seafood noodle. Very decent portion and they serve really fast. I feel it’s pretty authentic - you only see people speaking Korean coming in for food. And these dishes are best during winter time cuz they’re very warm.
We ate at the restaurant but the place was small and other customers were a bit too close for comfort due to covid. The waitress here was a bit blunt but she looked over worked and older gentleman waiter worked very slowly and forgot our request more than a few times. If you're patience and understanding, the wait staff is fine. The soup came boiling hot and cools down slowly since its in a stone pot. Chicken ginseng soup was delicious and the portion size is quite big. I don't think you will be disappointed of you wanted to come here for just the Korean chicken ginseng.
The chicken soup is really flavorful and the meat is tender. I deducted a star though because they give you these flat spoons that turn drinking soup into a laborious slow process. The soup also comes out so hot you have to wait 15 mins until you can really drink it.
Good place for chicken soup. Served a whole small chicken, that's very tender with soup. Pay extra for noodles. You pay for the portions but it's large enough to share. Recommend going on a cold day. The Korean side dishes are minimal (kim chi, picked turnip and another dish that I can't recall) Wish they have a few more. Also if you don't like ginseng flavor, this is not the place to go.
Their chicken pot is really good. I recommend drinking the broth, and order the black garlic, which tastes faintly like a cross between licorice and ginseng. If you have hunger and a cold, this will help cure both ailments. I haven't tried the fried chicken, but I have heard that it's, well, not as good. The kimchi is fresh and crunchy.
Wow, this place had great chicken broth dishes! Although the fries chicken was bland. It needed a kick like some spice or some flavorful marinade. I think you will enjoy this place if you are looking for soul-reviving broth!
It’s been a while since my last time (before they remodeled). The chicken soup is still good and portion is big enough for me and my two kids. I am happy that this restaurant is still here. I will come back again when I am in the area.
Small, family-owned Korean restaurant located in a strip mall in Santa Clara, specializing in ginseng chicken soup. The chicken is stuffed with rice and cooked for several hours, then served in an individual-size clay hot pot. Chicken soup was delicious, and the ginseng flavor wasn’t over-powering. Service was fast and friendly. Large free parking lot.
Small family owned restaurant with small menu. Ginseng chicken soup is their signature offering, but we ordered the chicken katsu and the chicken noodles soup. Things are made from scratch as they should be. Chicken noodle soup was good, especially on a cold day. A mid-60s gentleman was the waiter, buyer, and greeter. I suppose he can be gruff and rude if need be. He was nice and helpful to us in the old Korean grandfather kind of way. Clientele is mainly Korean. B N is nothing fancy but certainly authentically Korean.
Bubbling Samgyetang... piping hot Fried Chicken... refreshing Naengmyun (cold noodles)... this place has an effortlessly delicious menu! My coworkers and I came here for a lunch outing and they were able to seat 8 of us at a table (we called ahead of time over the phone). They only give kimchi and kkakdugi with your meal. I like that they keep it simple. I ordered the Fried Chicken with Salad, which came with 6 pieces: three drumsticks and three flats. Each piece was juicy and you could tell it was freshly fried. It was steaming with every bite. Honestly, it was too salty for my preferences, but it was decent overall. The "salad" that it comes with is thinly sliced cabbage and carrot with dressing. The Naengmyun is pretty delicious here! Keep in mind: they only have this on the menu during the summer! They don't add much broth, but there's a decent amount of slushy ice. I love that they layer the beef in egg! Pretty unique and adds nice texture. Interesting that they add pineapple too~
Chicken ginseng soup was exactly what I was looking for on a cold day. Portion is enough for 2 people. A whole spring chicken with stuffed sticky rice. Chicken slightly on the dry side. The side portion of clear noodles was chewy. The menu is pretty small, specializing in chicken soup. Not too ideal for vegetarians.
Love the food. The chicken soup is AMAZING!!! I would give 5 stars to the food. But the service is only ok. It's not because the servers are not nice, it's just they are seriously under staffed. The servers were always busy, can't pay attention to each table. It resulting in forgetting to provide utensils, waters, sometimes even the side dishes.
Best place for Korean chicken gingseng soup in Bay Area. It’s very tasty with rich ingredients and is cooked just right. 3 free Banchans could be refilled anytime. Great dish to warm you up during cold days.

This place deserve 3.5 stars. For as long as I can remembered, I've wanted to try ginseng chicken. Finally I found a restaurant that specializes in it! (thanks yelp!) I satisfied my craving and it was delicious! We came on a Tuesday night at 8pm and the place was dead. The waitress was very attentive and seated us immediately. She spoke broken English so she wasn't able to answer my questions regarding the menu. Nonetheless, we figured out what we wanted and ordered Dak kalguku and Hukmanul. While waiting for our food to arrive, our waitress brought us 2 jars of kimchee. One was regular cabbage the other was radish. Their kimchee was very flavorful. The only downside is that we were not provided with any other banchan items. Hukmanul: The chicken was very tender and the broth was flavorful. When we asked for more sliced garlic, our waitress gladly brought us more. Dak Kalguku: the noodles were hand-made and had a great texture. The broth was a bit on the peppery side. The aftertaste of the pepper def gave my mouth a kick! I can't wait to come back and try their "hangover spicy chicken stew."
Soup and chicken was good! Slightly sweeter than expect. Black garlic didn't fit me well tho. Make sure to separate the garlic and the soup for to-go if you still want to enjoy the soup for next meal. 1 free side dish only.

Regular Samgyetang w/ Black Garlic 3 whole chicken, tender, not juicy, rice stuffing w/ dates inside stomach, soup flavorful Seafood Noodle Soup 2 variety seafood, crab & shrimp has shells, mushroom, not flavorful

IMO the chicken soup was a bit pricey. The chicken itself didn’t have much flavor. The soup was savory for sure but overall not impressive - you get something similar from most kinds of noodle soup. The place is small so it gets busy quickly. I asked for refill of water but never got it, while the waitress was quick enough to bring the check.
Great chicken soup. Worst seafood noodle ever. Quite bitter, non-fresh sea food. And the service is really bad! Only one very unfriendly server.
Cold Noodle and spicy noodle tastes just like instant noodles. It wasn’t like this! Very disappointed. Never order noodles here again.
Don’t go to this place if you don’t want to be treated by rude and unprofessional staff. I went to this place and waited at the door patiently. Then a couple cut the line and directly head to a table in front of us, the lady at the front desk just let them sit politely. So we thought that’s how you get a table at this place and also went directly to a table and ask her if we could sit there. She then yelled at us to wait. I said “you already have someone sit like this. Why this double standards???”. She responded with nothing so we left immediately. Very rude and bad services. Just don’t go there if you don’t want to pay for someone yelling at you. What a shame.
awful service, the old women waitress is very rude. There is a bucket to hold utensils which they expect you to put the trashes in later. The old women didnt tell us we cannot spit on the paper in the beginning, but right after she did we started putting everything in the bucket. Before we leave, she still want to educate us "dont spit on the table". I told her thats because she didnt tell us the rule in the beginning. but she wont listen, teaching me again "spitting on the table is rude in my country, probably not in your country. " then later said to me "shame on you". I want to say to the old women, thats your problem not telling us what to do in the beginning. SHAME ON YOU!
It's my first time to try chicken soup in San Jose. Their food could be 4 stars, the soup taste very good, and with ginseng rice.... You can feel some warmth in cold weather. However, their service is just one star. I can understand, here is a small restaurant, you don't have enough service, but when I ask for some more kimchi, a big woman told me kimchi is sold out????? And the second time she told me kimchi had to charge. I mean kimchi is a free dish for every table, and I saw her refill to other tables several times. In addition, when we want to refill hot tea, she just passed. She just smiled with us when we need to pay. I mean even though your food is good, your service is the worst. You are not the only Korean chicken soup in San Jose. Notice your service!!!! Don't be rude to your customers, you are a restaurant!!!!!
The restaurant is closed as of Oct 02, 2025. I hope the owner can update the location before doing so.

The woman working there seemed absolutely out of line. I had placed a DoorDash order that included soup and a side of naengmyeon (cold noodles), but they marked the naengmyeon as out of order and substituted it with glass noodles. I don’t even like glass noodles, so I asked if I could change it to something else. I hadn’t requested a cancellation or anything — I was just trying to clarify the substitution. But while I was in the middle of explaining, she cut me off, completely ignored what I was saying, and just kept talking over me. Then she hung up on me. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I was honestly shocked by the lack of class and customer service.
Minimum order of one main dish per customer. I was with my partner but I’ve already had food, so I thought we could just share a cold noodle, but I got yelled at because “so many people waiting” and I “cannot just order one dish”. Can I get a side? “No, main dish only!” If there’s a minimum spending or order requirement please post that in clear signs. I caved because I didn’t want my partner to starve, but it was definitely not a welcoming service. Cold noodle was also just average.
