Opinions de Tapsilog Cantina Santa Clara
Absolutely amazing food - the lechon & lumpia in particular are juicy, crunchy, and paired with a delightfully sweet sauce. Don't forget to get the Halo Halo as well, SO good! As if that weren't enough the service is also spectacular. Such a cute place with a fun outdoor dining area perfect for casual eats or scratching that Filipino comfort food itch! (Pictured: Combo 1, 5, and Halo Halo!)
Good value, big portions, great service. Spoke to the owner and he was so friendly! This is his second restaurant by the same name Tapsilog and he said this new location is where he can express his creativity more with the menu and recipes. We got one of the daily combos - pork soup, fried pork belly, lumpia, garlic rice, and a scoop of ube ice cream. All for $15! I tried the limited cantaloupe drink and it was so refreshing on a hot day. You can order a la carte, individual meals, or communal style. They also have a small retail section of Filipino goods, such as banana ketchup, frozen bbq skewers, and frozen lumpia.
Shout out to Collin the best server! We came here for the first time to celebrate my wife's father's 60th birthday. We called ahead because we had a big group of 9. They assured us they could accommodate. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly server who worked with us to combine tables for the perfect setup. Everything couldn't have worked out better! We ordered drinks and dove into the menu. So many great options! We had quite the feast. Personally I ordered the dinuguan combo. It was really good and I'd recommend it to anyone. Don't be shy! Other standouts from the table were the lumpia, lechon kawali, and crispy pata. After we arrived the place filled up fast. Our server Collin did an amazing job serving everyone, basically by himself. The place was packed but Collin never got flustered. He made sure everyone was taken care of and did great at multitasking all the tables. Thank you to Collin for making our special occasion a memorable one. Everyone left happy and full! We'll for sure be back again and can't wait to recommend to friends. Kain tayo!
A Filipino Delight in Santa Clara! I recently had the pleasure of dining outside at Tapsilog in Santa Clara on a Sunday morning with a party of 8 and I must say it was a delightful experience. As a Filipino food enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for authentic flavors, and Tapsilog did not disappoint. The ambiance outside was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or a family gathering. The menu offered a wide variety of Filipino dishes. I ordered the lychee sangria (20oz), sizzling pork tator tots with sisig with a side of garlic rice. The pork sisig was amazing, perfectly cooked, and had the fries had right amount of flavor. The garlic fried rice was fragrant and of course, the lychee sangria paired perfectly on this warm morning. My wife ordered the keto burrito with tocino. The portion size was generous (feeds two people) and the prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. The service was friendly and attentive (if you sit outside, order inside before seating), adding to the overall enjoyable experience. If you're craving authentic Filipino cuisine in Santa Clara, Tapsilog is the place to be. Whether you're a Filipino food aficionado or new to this cuisine, I highly recommend giving Tapsilog a try. It's a taste of the Philippines right here in California!
Cool place. Food didnt take a long time. We ate outside underneath a nice cover with our dog. The servers were really nice and brought our dog water, and checked on us multiple times. The pork belly WAS so crispy and fatty. The rice was a bit hard and dry, but tasted good and worked well with the sauces. The sisig salad was really filling and good. I think getting a combo is a good idea if you're not sure what you want, as you get a bit of everything including some ice creams (large scoops, btw). We'd come back here if in the area.
Huge overwhelming menu. Huge overwhelming portions. What else do you need? Great, authentic tasting Filipino food here. I recommend the silog plates, especially the one that lets you sample a few different meats. Comes with garlic rice, fried egg, and veggies. Lumpia was tasty too! Also they make some nice Asian flavor mimosas (think lychee, mango, etc). Go check it out!
Great spot to get some filipino food! I've been to the Campbell location, but since moving, I'm down the street from the Santa Clara location! Two of us weren't too hungry, so we shared a combo 1: -pork sour sinigang soup -crispy pork belly lechon -garlic rice -scoop of ice cream (gluten free) Soup was super sour and piping hot. Very good. The pork belly was crispy and melted in my mouth. Garlic rice was fine. Scoop of ice cream was really tasty, since I'm lactose intolerant, it was good to have an ice cream to finish off the meal that wasn't too sweet. You can't pick, so it is whatever they have that day. I believe mine was a rocky road. Karan was serving us and cooking as well, hopping back and forth. He was friendly and attentive. There is an added 4% cost of living allowance added to each bill. Large parking lot with pretty tight spaces. Excited to be a regular here!
We DD here a lot but this was the first time we dined-in. The owner and his son were so warm and welcoming and very helpful with the menu. Atmosphere is welcoming. Food is DELICIOUS! The amount is a lot so plan to take home leftovers. The best part for me is that the lumpia also comes in chicken, which is usually hard for me to find since I don’t eat pork. Will definitely be back for both DD and dine-in.
A Perfect Filipino Feast. What was just a small gathering of 6 people to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation, ballooned to a party of 15. The owner, affectionately known as Tito/Uncle Ed, was able to accept our last minute order and I mean last minute: 24 hours before the party! Normally, party platter orders are placed 5-days before the event date. I ordered the Alfonso Sampler Platter: Surf-n-Turf option. The components of pork, seafood, and simple vegetable options make the perfect Filipino comfort food plate. The Crispy Pata (dee fried ham hock) and Daing (boneless milk fish) were the favorites of the group. The shrimp, Longanisa (sweet pork sausage) and grilled eggplant were my personal favorites. The portions are generous. The quality is outstanding and very tasty! Disclaimer: the lumpia and pancit noodles are not included in this menu. Those were provided by my Aunty C ;p The hospitality provided by Tito Ed and his team is beyond 5 stars. They really do treat you like family and make sure you're well taken care of. Tito Ed and team: Thank you for coming to my rescue. You helped made Grad Day a special one. Maraming Salamat Po!
Got welcomed with a smile and bone broth. My heaven 😂❤️ I'll definitely be back! The beef liver was delicious. Literally leaving this comment outside the parking lot. I'll be back for those mimosas !
Went there with my niece and her three daughters. I had pork lumpia, chicken adobo, steam rice and pancit. Delicious.
Great food. Love the rice soup and the meat plate. God service and reasonable price.
Everything is delicious, great ambience and variety of beer and a lot of choices for happy hour with Filipino beer
The Filipino food here was truly authentic and full of flavor. Every dish was served generously and tasted just like home-cooked meals. From the first bite, it honestly felt like being back home. The portions were great, the presentation was inviting, and the overall experience was amazing. The staff were awesome—friendly, welcoming, and made the whole visit even better. I truly hope more people come out to support this restaurant because it deserves all the love for bringing real Filipino comfort food to the community.
On a warm October afternoon, I needed a place to eat with my partner. We ended up choosing this restaurant based on the recommendation of a Filipino friend. And this place did not disappoint at all. Though we were a little confused as you enter from what seems to be a side door, to be then seated either inside or outside, the menu continued our confusion. The menu is massive, with so much text. It might as well be classified closer to a novel than a menu, however underneath all of this confusion, there is a hidden gem in the food. A few of the highlights were the Lechon Kawali and the Fried Bangus. The flavors were outstanding and you must choose the garlic rice over steamed rice every time. The only drawback was the soup that came in the combo was way too salty, as if it had been reduced for 3 hours too long. Regardless, everything else was super delicious and the value was really good. The vibe was authentic and it felt like I found my #1 Filipino restaurant.
Got there when it opened so there was no waiting on a late Tuesday afternoon. When I read the menu, it warned in advance that everything is made to order, so customers might have to wait, but seeing as I got there, I didn't have to wait a long time. Lechon Kawali was crisp and hot, the silog had the right amount of garlic, tho I'd appreciate plain rice as an alternative. Like the availability of condiments on the table. Liked the small touches, like blankets available for the outside diners, as well as the shell game on each table. When I return, it'll probably be with a bunch of people.
Love some good Filipino food! Everything were so tasty. The only “meh” was the pansit bihon. They cut the noodles about .25” so they sort of looked like leftover. Not that great tasting either. But the shrimp, Tocino and tamarind soup were yummy. They have polite and friendly staff. They are all efficient! Price was also fair and you will be full when you leave. Highly recommend!
Ate here last week and really enjoyed their bangsilog! Cooked fresh to order and the size of the milkfish was huge compared to other places I’ve tried. It was also not dried out like other places. One of the best I’ve had in the Bay Area! I also like how they have all their dipping sauces available at the tables. Will definitely be back to try other dishes and dessert!
Brought my family here from our of town around brunch/lunch time. They have mancala at the table while you wait. I ordered the pork moco while my wife order some kind of fish stew. The pork moco is delicious. It came with tater tots and they smothered it with gravy so it was perfect. The rice given is garlic rice and it complements the entire dish no matter how you combine it. My wife fish stew was also excellent. Its mackerel in a tomato sauce similar to the ones you get in a tin can but they added extra spice to it. It's not a knock on it, I find it very delicious and I would actually prefer this over my pork moco. Either way for the two dishes I ordered, can't go wrong with either of them.
A great homey Filipino restaurant in Santa Clara. Parking lot is a lil tight and small but should be enough for the plaza (if not find street parking) Overall a great experience, went on a Friday night and got their burrito which was huge. Their combo meals are good cuz it comes with soup and ice cream. Happy hour menu is great for lumpia Overall a great experience as the owner was super friendly and helpful and served his customers happily
Welcoming and cozy atmosphere. Food is homemade, made one by one - explains why they are delicious! Staff are attentive, and the owner often checks in with people, even recognizing patrons that visit. They also occasionally play some city pop - heard plastic love even come on the radio! Silog platters are great value as well. You can add more meats for just a little bit more. Tried the ribeye steak, was also pretty good. Great place for any kind of meet up, whether casual or for post-work vibes. Highly recommend this place.
Service was excellent and personable here. It really does feel like home. The food, I can tell you was amazing, well seasoned, great ingredients, and came out in a timely manner. I left feeling satisfied and happy.
This place is a diamond in the rough! The staff is incredibly helpful and courteous. I’m pretty sure Uncle Ed himself was here on Saturday personally seeing everyone was enjoying themselves. He personally wanted to make sure my infant was comfortable outside. The food is classic Filipino, and there are unlimited mimosas available. The food was fresh, the juices amazing. The fried egg was a perfect medium, which is very rare in the food industry for the low prices you’ll see here. They specifically call out vegetarian and vegan options (separately so you know for sure). Inside the cleanliness is deceptive. Bathrooms are spotless and smell like they were cleaned “just 2 minutes ago” COVID? You can see all the staff, cooking or otherwise due to the layout of the restaurant. Masks are always worn properly and never removed. Will I return? Absolutely! Would I recommend this to literally everyone I know? Absolutely!
Absolutely loved this spot! Ed, the owner, is amazing — super welcoming and passionate about what he does. The service was top-notch from start to finish, and the food? Incredible. Flavor-packed, fresh, and authentic. Definitely one of those places you want to keep coming back to. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
I love this place! Filipino food is my soul food and it can always lift my spirits up. This food is on point to what Filipino food should be and great pride and passion is put into this food. Anytime I tell people or when they ask me where to get good Filipino food I always recommend this place first. The owner is such a great guy and really loves connecting with people. The staff are friendly and they all set a great atmosphere for people to enjoy their experience here. It's my second time in but I guarantee you it will not be my last!

Not your typical Mom & Pop Filipino restaurant but still has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. There’s a beer garden in front of the restaurant which must be so nice and relaxing in the Spring and Summer. Lots of interesting and modern takes on Filipino dishes, but I stuck with a classic Filipino “silog” for lunch. Lots of protein with my longonisa and lechon kawali combo. I also had the cantaloupe drink which definitely hit the spot.
I ordered the loco moco ground beef patty with lots of gravy which was topped with a over medium egg on a scoop og harlic rice. Not to mention the very crisp tater tots. The beef patty was a little overcooked but still delicious. Maybe next time ask to have the beef patty medium. We also ordered bangus fish and lechon kawali with garlic rice which was even a better choice. The tocino was homemade which i appreciate. All in all a good filipino restaurant with a great selection.
Decent size cantina. I liked that they have 'sungka' on the table to use while waiting for your order. Plenty of sauces and oil for condiments. Service is great. Friendly, accommodating and helpful. I ordered the Sisigsilog, and I like the generous portion. The plating of the food is actually efficient and labor-saving with the use of banana leaf on top of bamboo paperplate. The sisig was good but i think it needs a bit more mayo. Nonetheless, it did hit the spot. Will definitely come back again.
First time there. Greeted by nice waiter. Only had time for lumpia. They were yummy. Crispy crunchy and good sauces too Was not too happy to see there was a happy hour and what we ordered was cheaper on the happy hour menu.
Food is like home and made fresh to order so be patient. Our waitress was overwhelmed but sweet. We ordered at the front since we were in a hurry. Ordered Bang Silog. I'm not a fan of milk fish but this was fried just right where I can still enjoy biting the fish meat without it being too dry. I appreciated the condiments displayed on the table. I felt like I was in the Philippines. Busy place. Seating outdoors is nice with the astroturf. Owner was running around greeting guests. Will definitely come back for dinner some day.

We ordered, sizzling sisig but was served on banana leaves not sizzling plate, ordered kalderetang kambing didn’t taste good 3 good pieces of goat meat and the rest tasted like beef, ordered laing got served with sautéed greens and laing didn’t have gata on it, expected so much but very disappointed
Sorry, not so good. I was excited to try this place, it reminded me of some of the many Filipino parties my wife's family have given, but we would have never served food like this. The pork skewers I ordered were mostly inedible fat. The pork adobo silog my wife ordered was also mostly unrendered fat. The rice tasted like it was old. I really wish the food was better, especially paying $45 for two silog dishes.
The restaurant has a small parking lot, which is convenient for those driving. The restroom is located in a different part of the building, but you can easily get a key from a worker. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating options. However, indoor seating is somewhat limited, so you might want to consider outdoor seating if the weather is nice. I've been coming to this place for years, but I feel the quality has declined over time. The prices are unbeatable, which is a plus, but the flavor isn't quite there anymore. I ordered the kare kare lunch special, and it was very watery with mostly vegetables and not much meat. This was disappointing as I was expecting a richer, more flavorful dish. On the bright side, their garlic rice is still good and very garlicky, which I love! The lumpia that came with the meal tasted good, but it wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. It's a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the food. The service here is excellent! The workers are super friendly and attentive, always making sure you have what you need. I love the family-run business vibe they give off, which makes the dining experience feel warm and welcoming. It's clear that they care about their customers and want to provide the best service possible. Despite the decline in food quality, I would still visit this restaurant to support small businesses. The atmosphere and service make it a pleasant place to dine, even if the food is just okay. If you're looking for a friendly, family-run restaurant with unbeatable prices, this place is worth a visit. Just keep in mind that the food might not be as flavorful as you hope.
Sister restaurant to Tapsilog Bistro with slightly different menu but equally delish. I’ve been here before, but this is the first time I had the burrito. I went for the crispy pork belly burrito to be specific. I loved it! Yummy pork skin perfectly crispy and Shanghai lumpia inside. We also got some kind of fish in sour soup boiled in a dedicated little pot. Huge amount of fish! Couldn’t even finish it. Had to bring it home. And both of these had garlic rice! So good. And while we waited for our delicious food, we played a game of Mancala. Fun. The host/owner is so nice and friendly. When he brings out anyone’s dishes, he shows them to other tables first to show how delicious and pretty their food is. Nov 2025 update: Tapsilog Cantina still wins points for atmosphere. The interior really does feel like a Filipino cantina — colorful, casual, and cleverly done. It’s a fun space to hang out in. But this visit just didn’t hit the way I remember. The Shanghai lumpia was good, but not as crispy or flavorful as before. The marinated grilled beef with garlic rice and egg was eh. Ours was super salty and just felt… off. We also tried a longanisa burrito. I asked for no rice, but they said it would be too small without it, so rice stayed. Problem is, I’m not a burrito-with-rice person, so it didn’t really work for me. Overall, it just wasn’t that fulfilling of a visit. It honestly made me wonder if ownership or kitchen management changed, because something felt different. Still like the vibe, but hoping the food rebounds next time.
What we got was average. They are very kind though and all seven of us got ice cream even though we did not all order the combos. Garlic rice was a bit dry and the garlic taste was very subtle. The portions was definitely above average though for what you pay for. The burritos at the other table looked super good and HUGE! May have to try those next time. And also try their happy hour, Thurs all day, Fri-Sun 2:30pm - 6:30pm

We ordered when they opened @ 11am. We chose the Pork Sisig, Lechon Kawali and the Fried Chicken to go. It took about 20 minutes to receive our order. While we were waiting, we didn't catch his name but we believe he's the owner. As soon as we entered, he greeted us with "Welcome Home" thought that was kool. When we opened the containers, the lechon looked yummy but the chicken looked dry. The sisig, we like ours to be crispy. So I sauteed it in bacon fat. It tasted much better afterwards. Also, the lechon was chewy from being over cooked and the chicken was too dry from being fried too long. I guess that don't do quality control before serving it! We really wanted to find another Filipino restaurant. Very disappointed. Unfortunately, we' won't be back.
The cashier who was taking orders was sooo RUDE!!!! I will NEVER go back here or recommend this place to ANYONE based on his horrible service alone! It was mine and my family’s FIRST time here and we were so excited to try this place for the first time but our excitement quickly turned into disappointment. I reached into a cooler where people were helping themselves to sodas etc. and I grabbed a soda as I walked to the counter… As I’m about to order, a beer can had fallen down inside of the cooler and because I was the last one to open the fridge I was quickly BLAMED for the beer can falling! The cashier was pointing his fingers at me and accusing me to my husband that I dropped the beer can in front of the whole restaurant I was so embarrassed! He was extremely rude to us and gave us dirty looks! Definitely not the way to handle that situation at all! It’s very sad that a place who serves great food has such a rude employee who lacks basic customer service skills.(Not even a HELLO, a smile, a welcome in, a what can I get for you, NOTHING) I suggest you get rid of him, especially as cashier/waiter because he is the “face” of your business and he is not the person you want to represent your restaurant! On your tables you have a sign that says “Welcome Home” Let me tell you that if you came to my home and I treated you the way I was treated yesterday, you would NEVER want to come to my home ever again!!!! I did not get a name but he might’ve been of Indian descent.
We went on a Thursday night. A lot of tables were open. The place didn't look busy. Few minutes after being seated. The server told us, "I'll get you the menu". After 15-20 minutes, I had to stand up to the counter and ask someone else for a menu. Finally we got the menu. Another 15-20 minutes went by. Once again I had to stand up to get someone else's attention that we're ready to order (very politely). I began to think they're testing our patience. The server arrived and said "sorry we're really backed up". I scanned the room and there weren’t that many customers (I wonder why). The server noted our orders. After (yet again 15-20 minutes). Of course, the wrong food arrived!!! I ordered soup and I got a fried platter. I'm not sure what I did to deserve this kind of service. At this point I was ready to leave. We got their popular dishes. Super oily at glance. Taste was 4/10. It was downhill at this point. I've been to a lot of restaurants and this one was the worst. FIRST TIME I EVER NOT TIPPED. NEVER EVER coming back. Please save your time and energy and go elsewhere.
My first time to order food here. I was lazy to cook and wanted just buy cooked food instead. My mom who is sick wanted to order pinakbet. The pinakbet super lansa ang taste. Then I ordered my favorite dish which is kalderetang goat, I very dissapointed how bad is taste 😩 kulang sa tomato sauce tapos ang tigas ng karne at maanta ang lasa! I understand its a commercial bzness buti kung mura lang ang price, its expensive for that kind of taste. Very dissapointed 😞 I will never go back here again. Everything I ordered was nothing to expectation. I think they should hire a good cook so that people will be satisfied and happy.
I was the only customer in for dinner tonight. I ordered Bicol Express (meat was hard) with garlic rice. The garlic rice is not warm, not fresh and its hard. As soon as i got home from my dinner the Bicol Express made me run to the bathroom really bad. To the owner of this restaurant… I’ve dined in your restaurant more than once and in my opinion, I don’t think some of your employees care about your business. I will not comeback.
On September 3rd around 12:15 PM, I asked for hot water in a double cup — which makes it very clear I wanted it hot. The server literally filled it straight from the sink, lukewarm, and I saw it with my own eyes. Then he handed it to me and said “hot,” with zero care, almost mocking. That’s just disrespectful and lazy service. If you check your cameras, you’ll even see my reaction — I walked out, poured the water out right away, and left the cup on the table. If staff can’t even handle something this simple, it shows how little they care about customers. Definitely not coming back.

Scam spot. Here is what they advertise on the internet "Highly rated for its $2 taco special on Tuesdays. Customers recommend the tocino tacos and the outside seating area." My daughter and I arrive and guess what? No Taco Tuesday Special! NADA! I show them (manager) what is advertised on the internet and the reason we went here. His response? "Oh we don't do that anymore, we don't have tortillas" Straight BS Avoid this spot
