My beautiful bride and I have been meaning to try this place as we frequent Chelsea’s next door. We were not disappointed. We started off with crab cakes and crab bisque. I will tell you the bisque was different that what I would consider a bisque but we enjoyed it. Crab cakes were good. Loved them. Main course we shared blackened. Shrimp alfredo. It was dandy and we still took some home. Bread was wonderful and soft. I love a good margarita at other than Mexican food places. I get tired of the Mexican food but never the margarita. We loved our experience!!!
Food and portions were good for the price - I quite liked the catfish crawfish étouffée, but it may be on the slightly salty side for some people with more sensitive palates. The vegetable mash sides (I think potatoes and sweet potato/carrot) were delicious, and you can’t go wrong with some fried seafood. It’s a nice location, and the server was very friendly and attentive even with our large group.
I always sit at the bar and order martinis and Acapulco Shrimp. The menu is extensive, however the Acapulco Shrimp is my favorite, so delicious & fresh, and the service is unmatched. Ambiance is just right. Date night or happy hour - so versatile. Sitting right up to the waters of Taylor Lake, it's a great place for locals , but definitely worth a drive..
We have always wanted to try it and finally got the chance. I have to say, I can not wait to go back!! Not only was the food phenomenal, the whole vibe is great. Parking is a tad weird but if you follow the driveway down to the water there is more parking around the side. When the weather is nice they also have a cute little patio space that looks out to the water. A true seabrook/El lago gem, check them out!
I workout at the Pilates studio next door, so I always see this place, but I never actually tried it, until today! OMG!!! no one ever told me how delicious it was place was!!! It’s a dream with very reasonable prices. The waitress was very friendly. I’m definitely coming back. The “sweet potato mash,” it’s actually carrots!!! Best dang sides I’ve ever had.
It's a very quiet, yet relaxing place. The people who work here are very friendly, and even though English isn't my first language, they help you here without any problems. The prices are affordable for everyone. The food is extremely delicious, super tasty. I felt super good visiting this restaurant. I recommend it.
Came here on Valentine’s Day for the first time and it was so nice! Our waiter (forgot his name, he had glasses) was very polite and attentive! Didn’t treat my husband and I like we were kids. We usually get brushed off and treated like children because of how young we appear to be. He made great recommendations! The food was so good and the variety of sides served was great! Our favorite was the sweet potato mash! It just somehow complimented the fish and veggies! The drinks were huge and tasty. We will be back! Thank you
My husband chose Valdo's for his birthday. We went based solely on the research/reviews. I am adding another 5 stars! Seafood enchiladas were incredible! Plenty of seafood inside the enchiladas, melted cheese on top. Our shared appetizer was phenomenal! fried heaven. Green tomatoes shrimp, onion rings, mushrooms, fish and stuffed peppers. Weactually took half the appetizer home..reheated in oven later and it was just as good. For his birthday, they brought out a bread pudding ice cream w a rum sauce. I normally do not like bread pudding, but after my husband's first bite..his eyes rolled back in his head...when he came back down to earth, he said "oh baby, you gotta try this". I wanted to be elevated to where he had disappeared, after that bite..so I dug in. Never have I ever experienced a good love like that! Service here was also exceptional, not overbearing. We will be back soon...new favorite place!
The food was delicious and we had a nice view of the water. We ordered the stuffed jalapeños, crab stuffed mushrooms, fried green tomatoes, and the crab and avocado topped salmon with honey habanero sauce. Our entree came with mashed potato, carrot soufflé, sautéed spinach and broccoli. Next time we are visiting NASA we will be eating here again!
Recently, my visit to Valdos in the Seabrook area left quite an impression. We went to Seabrook to dine at another restaurant we frequent but they were out of stock on some items and was serving a limited menu that day so we decided to try some place new. In search of a seafood dining experience, Valdos had great reviews so we gave them a try. The ambiance, though not extravagant, was comfortable, and despite the rainy weather, the patio overlooking the water seemed inviting. My husband opted for the stuffed flounder, prepared blackened with a side of mixed veggies, and it exceeded expectations. The dish was a clear winner, and I'm already eyeing it for my next visit. On my plate was the seafood platter accompanied by onion rings. While everything was cooked to perfection, the catfish fell short, I didn't care for the mushy texture. However, the shrimp were very good and the onions ring were exceptional. Next time, I'll steer clear of fried options, leaning towards their grilled or blackened offerings. For dessert, we indulged in the bread pudding, which was equally exceptional. And to complement the meal, one of the waitstaff recommended a margarita that was simply divine, ranking among the best I've tasted, I just can't recall the name. Overall, the food was superb and the service was top-notch. Valdos certainly warrants a return visit, looking forward to trying more of their dishes and dining on the patio.
I have been eating here for 10 years and they have the most unique and delicious food. My favorite dish is there baked whole red snapper with shrimp and crab topping. Their salad has cantaloupe, pineapple and grapes in it. With a vinaigrette sauce. It is wonderful! The bread is served hot and the butter soft! What more do you want. I eat here often and will always come back.
OMG 😲 stopped here by accident and my wife and I were greatly surprised. Menu is extensive, Portions are worth it and can feed 2 people. Food was amazing, with variety of flavors, everything had its own distinctive flavor. Soleil our waitress was fantastic and so helpful on our first time here. I highly recommend this place, seafood, drinks, Mexican food, etc. A must try!!
It was our first time here, the place looks great. Great service, we ordered a mix of fried seafood. We weren't crazy about the stuff crab, and fry oysters. The crab was soft on the inside, didn't like the texture and same with the fried oysters. We didn't eat those. The seafood gumbo was good, Other than that the rest was fine.
Came here for the first time with my husband and kids yesterday. We sat down and we're greeted by a young lady, told us we could sit where ever we'd like. She didn't look to happy though, very serious no smile what so ever. So we got the menu and it was overwhelming! It had so many items on it! Front and back of all the I think 4 or 5 pages. Anyway, we finally figured out what to eat. My husband got the Mexican shrimp cocktail ($17.95)which I will say was the only good dish out of everything we ordered. I had the seafood pasta($23.95) it was kind of bland. It wasn't terrible but it was lacking taste. It had blackened filet and shrimp on top. The shrimp were well seasoned and cooked. The filet was lacking flavor though. The pasta was ok, it had shrimp and I think crawfish. 2 of my kids had chicken fingers with fries and rice....oh my everything on the plate was extremely bland! My other kid had a cheeseburger but like all the other items it had no taste either. I wanted to like this place but it just wasn't there with the food! It's not horrible but I think I won't be back. Hope they work on the seasonings on their food. 🤷🏻♀️
So not very great on our first visit. Food came out quick but the freshness was lacking. Some of the veggies were obviously old just by looking at them. Some foods were frozen and the taste was bad. Be cautious when ordering food. However the chicken fajita and the grilled shrimp was pretty good. Rice was good too. The manager did apologize and ask if they could make it right. The kids meal does come with a drink and small kids desert with kids meal. Unfortunately, our server decided to charge us for an adult soft drink for the kids and never offered them desert. The server also was confused that there was or was not a manager onsite. Also, she said the calamari was frozen (which I believe her), but the "backup" manager said it's fresh calamari. So, I have no idea who to believe. I can say that it lacked seasoning and was disappointing.
I'm sorry, but the food quality was very poor. Fried green tomatoes were greasy and the grease tasted quite old. I ordered oysters Veracruz and the oysters were almost non-existent. The gelatinous mess on top was not tasty. I then ordered fried oysters and again, the oysters were almost non-existent but the breading was massive and greasy.
The place is so beautiful I’ll give it that but that’s where it ended. We ordered margaritas and they were honestly pretty good. However the worst part was the food. We started our order with the chips and salsa with cheese. The salsa was good. I recommend it but the cheese was not as great, it was just not good. There was no flavor and it seemed undercooked. But the sourdough bread was AMAZINNG!!! The food was portioned well but there was just no flavor. I ordered the crawfish etoufee and while it was a big portion every spoonful was filled with the flavor of tomato paste and the sea. I had a side of pasta that was blander than chalk. Very disappointing. That was it. I couldn’t even finish it. My friends who accompanied me had the salmon and the enchiladas respectively. Their dishes were just as appealing. No flavor but big portions. The salmon over yellow rice was the most redeeming of them all yet it still tasted like it was seasoned with only salt. The enchiladas were reminiscent of hamburger helper without the helper and that’s me being as nice as possible. Our waitress was nice and we didn’t blame her but the food was so bland and we really tried. I even asked for salt, pepper, and hot sauce, but after adding all three there was no change to the flavor. I cannot truthfully say that I would recommend for any one I know to go here but the staff was there, they weren’t but they weren’t accommodating either.
