Opinions de Bubba’s Barbecue Ennis
Today was our first experience eating at Bubba’s. The beef ribs and brisket were excellent. The staff were all super friendly. The owner rounded on all of the tables and checked on each of us. He even gave my wife a piece of coconut pie to take home. 10/10 first time experience. We will definitely be back!
I stopped in at Bubba’s to get chopped brisket for a baked potato bar. The staff were very friendly & pleasant! The staff member chopped the brisket & was spot on with the amount of brisket I had requested. I added the sweet and the spicy barbecue sauces to go; both we a big hit with my guests. Great food! Great taste! Great people!
I ordered a loaded baked potatoe and 4 rib bones. I couldn't make it to the microwave to reheat my food. The ribs were so good, tender perfectly cooked. The loaded baked potaoe was an extra highlight to the meal. I was so pleased I wanted to order more ribs to take home. Please start some type of delivery service it's worth it. Thank you for the experience!😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
It was great, stopped here while traveling with the the family, staff were so kind and seemed so happy to work here.Owner of establishment helped us with carrying drinks to table, and even gave us free desert. Customer service in amazing Food was amazing, the goodies lying around is great, peppermint candy, bread slices, etc! Food was decent, the rib eyes and steaks were immaculate, overall it was a great experience! Homey vibe, it was small, but had an oddly comforting vibe, it was giving positive energy. The team of staff and owner were highly nice and friendly, polite as well. The hospitality here was great! Very humble people here! Very kind! Overall, I would give it 100/5 stars! It was great dining here, will come again when traveling on this route again!!
Stopped to grab a bite to eat and take a break from driving. The chicken fried steak was amazing! It appeared to be hand breaded, real steak. The mashed potatoes and gravy was likey mom's. The staff was super friendly. Will definitely stop again!
Excellent food. Amazing steak. Staff was very friendly.
We are out of state and stopped in Babba's BBQ on our way to my hometown. I missed Texas BBQ, and I was not disappointed. The food was terrific! The service was great, and hospitality from the owners was the "cherry on top!" Put Babba's BBQ on your trip agenda, and you'll a big Texas welcome!
Just passing through and saw a sign decided to try it and everything was amazing. Steak cooked perfectly . Chicken fried steak was delicious. My daughter says best mac n cheese and chicken. Took some brisket to go and it was on point! Would definitely be back.
Everyone was super friendly. They gave us a choice between the lean or fatty brisket which was a first in a BBQ place for me. The brisket was delicious. The baked potato was delicious! Only tip I would give is for the chopped brisket to be chopped right when you order the potato because it was pre-chopped and that made it a little dry. Other than that, everything was top notch.
So good! Pina Colada was amazing! Brisket was delicious in the quesadilla. Onion rings were amazing! We will definitely come back.
My husband and I had a load drop in Dallas, on our way back home to Houston I saw Bubba's billboard on the side of the freeway. I had told my husband after load drop I wanted a chicken fried steak, a good one. Low and behold the first thing I saw on Bubba's menu was just that a CHICKEN FRIED STEAK which was DELICIOUS and so also the sides. So every once in a while in the future, I'll make sure to ride with the hubby to Dallas so I can GET ME SOME BUBBA'S! ★★★★★
Bubbas is a unique barbecue experience. I’ve never been asked “lean” or “Marbled” brisket before. The marbled is as tender as it gets. The people are very friendly and the sauce is just as nice. Also had the ribs and cherry cobbler which were excellent! Highly recommend. A must stop!
Very delicious brisket, friendly people, good atmosphere, with great decor. Our table top used to be the hatch to a ship... would definitely recommend for others visiting.
They recommended the brisket, ribs, and sausage and I agree. All three taste amazing on their own and even better with their BBQ sauce. The sides were good too. Best food I've had on this trip. Hopefully I'll be back this way again.
My son and I love this place.. the whole experience was delightful, best food hands down, they will care of you like family and their prices are very reasonable.. cant ask for more.. today had me a rib eye 🥩 well done and it was VERY GOOD...
My wife and I come here from time to time for lunch or supper..good food and a friendly staff...my wife loves the brisket sandwich and I love their chicken fried steak... IT'S BIG! too big for me to finish and it is delicious! If you want a great ribeye, strip or t-bone steak, they have those too! Give Bubba's a try and judge for yourself....
Wonderful great small town atmosphere. All the people in their customers and staff knew each other. I heard a lot of bye and I love, just real down home spirit. Food was awesome. I hadcan awesome steakburger and Frito boat, my wife had brisket green beans and corn.
Had lunch here today and it was a good day for them. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My wife had a chicken fried steak that nearly took up the whole plate and barely enough room for her fries. I had sliced brisket and sausage. The brisket had a nice smoke ring and was fork tender. Sausage had just enough smoke flavor without being overbearing. We have had steaks here numerous times and Roy usually cooks them and they have always been perfect. Thanks for a great lunch today. We were very satisfied and shall return.
The food was amazing! We all had a little something different and ate everything on our plate. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The restuaraunt was very neat and clean. They had so many staff working serving customers we did not even have to get up to refill our drinks or throw our trash away. The owner (I think) came by and asked the kids if they wanted desert. They were all so kind.
I don’t think about taking pictures of the food before hand but I sure wish I would have today. Several family members came here this afternoon to visit and have a steak since we were told it was awesome and they did not disappoint! Wife had a NY strip and I had the ribeye. Juicy, cooked the way we like’em. A salad and baked tater are tue normal sides but you can swap a tater for two regular sides that you would get with the bbq. Wife got the green beans and skillet potatoes which she said were great. 10 of us went and there was plenty of room in the place and plenty of parking. We all got steaks and I didn’t hear one complaint. Next time gonna try the bbq. and hopefully remember to take pictures.
Loved the country town feel. You walked in and felt like family and you belonged. Delicious and great prices. 👍
Great experience! We were immediately met by the owner and warmly greeted. Excellent and tasty food! My wife's ribeye was the best she's had. I ordered brisket and ribs. The owner visited with us after dinner. Such a pleasant evening and delicious food. Highly recommended!!!
Best BBQ Brisket!! Traveling through just south of Dallas and did a quick jog off the highway for an easy dinner. The staff were so friendly, starting with the greeting when we came in the door. They took the time to explain the wide menu and my husband said it was the best brisket he’s ever had! The restaurant is a typical bbq place, you order at the counter and seat yourself. The sides were typical but the bbq is the hero! We had to get an additional order of brisket to take home.
The steaks and the loud bar-bq bake potato are very great we love it small country dining
Had a great time here at bubbas with some great food. Awesome atmosphere and great people! Keep up the good work.
Decided to try this place on our way down to Galveston and we were not sure due to the star rating on yelp BUT THIS PLACE IS A HIDDEN GEM! Loaded potato with all the fixings and chopped brisket (chefs Kiss) Hubs had 3 meats Ribs fall of the bone tender, spicy sausage delicious and brisket… he couldn’t even finish it all! The fried okra was some of the best I had. The owner was table touching and had a very pleasant conversation with him. For dessert we had peach cobbler heated with ice cream and a slice of pecan pie! Absolutely delicious all the way around.. Now to figure out how to get him to put the Texas Twinkies on the menu. Hubs travels up and down between Dallas and Houston often so I know he’ll be stopping more often. Thanks for the fantastic food!
Amazingly food and atmosphere!!! We literally brought food to go it was so good! Can't wait to visit again!
Great friendly staff. Food was amazing! Save room for dessert
The Ribeye steak rivals any steak I have had. The staff is very friendly. Worth the stop
Best steak around. Excellent food and excellent staff who go above and beyond to support local first responders.
Thank you for hosting our event on the patio! We all had a great time! The food and service was great! If anyone is needing some where to host a big crowd I definitely recommend asking about the patio!! Ohhh and the chicken fried steaks are only one of the many great food options!!
Casual dining atmosphere, food is amazing! Large portions and reasonable prices! Beverage bar and several beers available. Definitely recommended if you like bbq made with love.
I stopped here while getting gas from the Buc-ee’s near it and man, that was great decision. I love road-side bbq and wasn’t disappointed. Every bite of my brisket and pulled pork was smokey and packed with flavor. Will definitely be stopping here again!
So glad we found this place! It's quite a drive for us but definitely worth it. This is now our go to once a week bbq place :)
We were in town for the Bluebonnet Festival. The sirloin steak was the best ever! We loved the seasoning! The service was excellent. We were greeted at the door by the kindest lady. Our waitress was kind and helpful. Our experience couldn’t have been better! All the food was amazing! Great job!
Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was great. Reasonable price with decent food portions.
Great BBQ. Have passed by for 24 years going back and forth to houston from amarillo. Never seemed to be able to stop we were allway too early or too late. That won't happen again. Lol we will definitely be back. I had the spicy sausage and turkey. It was fantastic . Potato salad was perfect. Ao were the baked beans. My wife had the ribs they were awesome. Cole slaw was great not too sweet. My son had the turkey and pulled pork . He said the pork had great flavor. We should have stopped years ago.
Just came down from Michigan to visit family. And all I asked for was true Texas BBQ. This is where you need to go. I had the brisket and smoked jalapeño and cheddar sausage with Cole slaw and green greans. So good. Great smokey taste and the meat held it's moisture. The slaw was so creamy. Was a nice bite after a bite of sausage to bring down the heat from the sausage. The workers were super friendly and helpful with any questions we might had. And kept check on us about refills, condiments and to see if we needed anything else after we received our food. If you get a chance check out Bubba's!
Bubba’s BBQ & Steakhouse offers an experience that feels both hearty and welcoming from the moment you step inside. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between relaxed and lively, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a satisfying meal without any fuss. What stood out most was the depth of flavor in the food. Each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, delivering rich, well-rounded taste without feeling overly heavy. There’s a clear focus on quality and consistency that makes the meal enjoyable from start to finish. The setting encourages you to settle in and take your time, whether you're visiting with friends or family. Service was attentive and personable, helping create a smooth and pleasant experience throughout. Overall, Bubba’s BBQ & Steakhouse provides a flavorful and dependable dining experience that leaves a strong, positive impression.
Ordered the family pack and brisket fries for a little over $100. The food was SOOOO good! The turkey, so juicy and flavorful. The brisket, amazing!!! And the sides and so order just as good. Ordered from the drive thru and was gone in less than 10-15 minutes. Service and vibes were great! Family at everything. Will definitely go back!!
Best brisket I have had in a long time! The okra was delicious and crispy as well and mac and cheese was good as well as the sausage! We are moving to Ennis next week so can't wait to keep coming back!
Bubba’s BBQ & Steakhouse is one of those places you can’t wait to go back to. The brisket is tender and full of flavor, the sausage has that perfect snap, and every side tastes homemade. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere feels like real Texas hospitality. If you’re craving good barbecue, this is the spot.
Definitely Best of the Best here in Ennis, TX. Service was five stars, very clean tables and the food was to die for. The pico de gallo just made it so much sweeter. We were also treated in the house with some YUMMY homemade peach cobbler with some ice cream. Wow! Hats off to everyone who made our meal and service spectacular. Will come back. Loved it!!!
We like to stop on our trips through Ennis. We order the 3 meats to get our fulfillment of the meats served. Our favorite is the chicken as it falls off the bone, but is moist. Coconut pie and banana pudding for dessert is a great way to end the meal.
I've been coming to this establishment since my college days in the early 2000s and it's still the best bbq in the region! Words don't do this place justice, the warm and friendly atmosphere cannot be replicated anywhere else because this is authentic. Thank you for all the years of you've fed my family and I, I hope future generations will be fortunate enough to walk through your doors too
I HARDLY EVER leave reviews, but Bubba's is hands down, amazing!!!! The owners are absolutely the sweetest, and made us feel so welcomed. We had 3 of our babies with us and the entire staff are so friendly to all of us. Not to mention, the brisket is so tender and juicy!! Omg we ate so much, and the desserts are homemade too. We definitely ate too much but it was so worth it. Super affordable too! We will definitely make a trip back with more family when we're in the area. All the way from San Antonio 🩷
This place is a Jem! We had the two meat sandwich, baked potato with brisket, fries, pasta salad and a side salad. All were very good and the sandwich was huge!! Packed with brisket and hot sausage, GF loves her baked potato and the fries were the best I have had in a long time. In terms of a bbq joint, this place is top tier! Staff is super friendly, dining room was spacious and clean. They also have a patio out back. We will definitely be back!
Great little BBQ place to visit while in Ennis. My friend and I had the brisket loaded baked potato and split an order of fried okra. The potatoes was enough for me to have 2 meals from it!!! I would pass on the okra next time as I felt there was more breading than okra. Friendly staff, will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.
My mother and I came here to get a bite in some AC while visiting from Portland Oregon. It was beyond our expectations!!!! The salad with brisket on top (we had no shell) was absolutely amazing and such an amazing value. We wish this existed in Portland, we'd be back every week! The staff was incredibly kind and the owner popped by to say hello. Don't miss out on this gem!
Waitress/cashier was friendly and helpful. Staff was polite and the restaurant was clean. The coconut cream pie was decent but was missing something. The New York strip was flavorful and cooked medium like requested. Very little fat on the steak. Salad seem fresh with a good balance of ingredients. The baked potato was cooked to almost perfection with it easily coming off the peel. Was still firm but not hard. The side ingredients so you can dress the baked potato however you want was a nice touch rather than being stuck with certain ingredients.
Up from Houston on the way to grapevine, i was craving a smoked burger and saw the signs a few miles out, so we stopped and got the burger and some brisket nachos and I wasn't disappointed! The burger was very lean, and the brisket on the nachos had a great smoked flavor! The place was small but packed and the folks were friendly. Will stop again anytime I'm up from Houston.
The dude and his wife have been here a while. I get down to Ennis from time to time and stop in every chance I get. This is the real deal, folks. You can't beat the pricing for really good BBQ. Sides are amazing as well. They cook to order stuff like fried okra so it is fresh.... No heat lamp limpy stuff going on there. The wait staff has been with them a long time as well. Super friendly and always eager to help you.
Under previous ownership/management I loved the big Ranch House Salad - salad with any meat of your choice chopped up over it. - but I just wasn't a big fan of the BBQ. It was okay IMO but not outstanding and I didn't care for their sauce at all. Haven't been in in a while and decided to stop in today for a salad with chopped turkey. The place was so bright & cheery and you could smell the smoked meats. I saw a picture advertising a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw called The Boss Hog for $9.99 and could not resist. I also ordered a side of potatoes, cooked country style with seasoning and onions. The guys behind the counter were friendly, and the girl at the register was sweet. At the drink & condiment area they have 3 different sauces (!) so I got tea & picked a bottle of sweet bbq sauce. The young lady brought my sandwich out quickly. It presented beautifully but I had to take the onion rings off before I could attempt to hold it to eat it. So I ended up with 2 sides - both onion rings and potatoes 🙂. The sandwich was DELICIOUS! Sweet tender pulled pork topped with sweet crunchy slaw, and plenty of meat. And the sauce was really good. I am now a FAN and can't wait to go back. They have several other things on their menu like steaks, catfish, grilled fish.
Ordered a loaded baked potato with pulled pork and it was delicious! I did add some Sweet Baby Ray’s to spice it up, but it was so good, I ate half of it in probably 5 minutes! Definitely worth reordering again. The only reason I didn’t rate this 5 stars was for the bread pudding. Management should take it off the menu until they can either find a better recipe or a different supplier. It was gluey, heavy, congealed, and had an unpleasant almond extract aftertaste. Definitely not worth the price. Bread pudding shouldn’t be chewy like rubber, it should be custard -like and smell and taste of cinnamon and nutmeg.
We stopped on our way to Houston. It definitely hit the spot. The meats were tender and lots of flavor. Great prices as well.
The brisket and the sauce were phenomenal. The green beans were good but disappointing. I would have liked to see them make fresh green beans with onions and such. The ribs were cooked perfectly, but there was a lot of bones and hard material. Overall it was a really great experience, and the portion was large.
The food is great, but THERE IS NO SOAP IN THE MEN’S RESTROOM, JUST LIKE THE LAST TIME I WAS HERE. Last time, I told them about it. This time, I decided to write a review. Maybe the owner will read it and do something about it. Also, the wait staff is supposed to refill your drinks. I finished mine and had to stand up to get it refilled, because no one came by. Follow up: On two subsequent visits the food was still very good and they had soap in the men’s restroom.
Food was really good, the waiters and staff were very nice. It was a very clean environment the only issue that I had was that they didn't have already prepared sweet tea and it took a while to get our food.
Arrived when they opened at 11. Ordered the brisket (lean and marbled) which had a decent smoke ring and was really tender. Also, ordered the sausage which was fine ground like kielbasa however the casing was not easy to chew. The sauce was dark, on the sweet side and a little thin but I don't think it was a good match for the brisket. The green beans were good but the coleslaw was pretty plain. The staff was mostly ladies who were very courteous and attentive. The seating area was nice enough and everything appeared to be spotless, including the bathrooms. I would stop here again.
Good Bbq place!!! The food was absolutely delicious and the workers were kind!! My only complaint was the meat was a little cold 😬😬.... They're trying out a new bbq sauce recipe which was delicious and way better than the other sauce that was given. Even tho the meat was a little cold we ate it all, it was very good!!! I had thw bubbas sandwhich and he got the 2 meat plate and it was less than $30 so overall not a bad price range either!!
The meat was tender and good. I had the 3 meat plate brisket, ribs, and sausage. The sauce is good as well. The baked beans tasted like they had brown sugar in them, which was good but maybe a little too much sugar. The peach cobbler I have but haven't eaten it yet. From appearances, it looks really light on the crust. I will try them again when I pass through next month. All in all, it was worth stopping for.
The brisket, ribs and pulled pork were very good. The sides, meh. Beans looked right out of the can, some burnt ends added to it would make them better. My wife had a steak, good price but was tough. The ladies who worked there made us feel right at home! They also offer a military discount!!!
Everyone was really nice when coming in. The place was clean. It has a hole in the wall type feel, which is normally really good food. The brisket was tender and full of flavor. A little dry, but it still melted in your mouth and the flavor was on point. The fries were delicious. Coleslaw and potato salad was really good. Our only complaint is the BBQ sauce. It is a vinegar base sauce- very thin and had almost pickle after taste. I do prefer a molasses based sauce. A sweet/spicy sauce is my preference. Otherwise this is good Texas BBQ. I would come back.
I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich, French fries and sweet tea. When I ordered the lean only but I noticed that the person who prepared didn't cut the fats off the brisket. I told the person to cut the fats off and they did comply my request. When I eat the sandwich with my hands, the bun fell apart quickly and didn't hold up at all. I had to use a fork to eat them instead of. Not happy with that. The regular bbq sauce lacks of the kick in the palate. Need to add some kick in the palate. French fries are good but somewhat too much seasoning. The fries are somewhat looks the frozen store-brought ones instead of made their own fries out of the potatoes. The sweet tea don't really taste sweet to me. More of a light sweet tea.... Almost taste the unsweet tea. Overalls, I'm not really impressed by their BBQ food. I wouldn't come back for a second time.
Great service and friendly staff. Clean eating area; didn't use their restroom though, so no opinion on that area. Felt like maybe it was an off day, if they had such good reviews of their food. Our brisket had good flavor, but was on the dry side, maybe it was sitting on the warmer too long, as well as the chicken and the ribs. The sides were great-mashed potatoes with gravy, macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw. We enjoyed everything else about the place and know that others will have a better experience.
Wish I could have given this place a 5 star review. It definitely has fast service, delicious sides and a good smoke on the meat. But unfortunately there was a downside to the meat. Because along with a smoky taste and a great "bark" on the brisket the brisket also was extremely fatty, almost a 60/40 ratio of meat to fat. Also, there was some laziness showing on the brisket — they didn’t even bother to remove the "silver skin". A 5 star restaurant would trim some of the fat and definitely remove the silver skin. We'll probably go back in order to try some of the other meats but this experience rated only a 3 star rating. ***
This venue gives you true barbecue, good selection on the menu and prices were reasonable.... Casual atmosphere.
I've been about a dozen times. I'm not a big fan of this place but others in my household like BBQ and I don't always have time to do it from scratch. I don't think I've been here yet and had food that wasn't overcooked. Ribs and brisket are smoked to the point where you've got to scrape off a thick layer of charred burnt meat to get to the edible parts. I don't like putting BBQ sauce on my meat and I'm forced to so that I don't choke on the dry meat. Meat isn't seasoned with anything other than the smoke flavor. If they used a dry rub, the flavor does not come through (or maybe it burned off). About half the times I've come through the drive thru they've messed up my order. Some times it's minor like messing up the sides. Twice they've given the wrong type of meat or omitted the meat. Sides are hit or miss on flavor. Today I had the cabbage and it was a bland boiled cabbage with no seasonings besides liquid smoke. No salt or butter at all. The mashed potatoes tasted like heavily salted prefab potato flakes, not from scratch flavor. On the plus side, if you go in to eat the sides are self serve so you can scoop as much as you want. And the soft drinks are refillable for free. The waitresses are very friendly.
I come here often but, no more. Second time I have been very disappointed in the quality of food. Got a very dry 1/2 lb of sliced brisket and the 1/2 lb of chicken was ONLY ONE very dry chicken breast and the mashed potatoes seemed out of an instant box. I wasted $36, could have cooked at home. Seems this way everywhere now, no one has quality anymore.
I ordered a 3 meat plate and the bbq nachos. I asked for marbled brisket, but I received dry, lean slices of brisket instead. The nachos were a handful of chips with the same liquid ‘nacho cheeze’ goo like they serve at a high school ball game. With a few slices of dry brisket on top. The sausage tastes pretty good, but it’s kinda gray-tan colored and seems to be boiled. The turkey tasted good and was more moist than the brisket, which is a good thing for turkey. And they want to charge a 18% gratuity for a cafeteria style place if you have 6 or more people in your group. Even if it’s separate parties paying separately. It’s not justifiable for a restaurant that provides no table service.
Food was great, but I purchased 3 family meals online for $138.64 this past Saturday for a funeral wake and this is all I got. I don’t know if this is all the meat I was supposed to get but total it was no more than 5lbs. I tried to call them multiple times but the voice kept saying they were busy taking online orders.
BEWARE - Bubba's BBQ likes to charge people extra just for the pleasure of eating in their restaurant. They charges us and extra $14.48 "service charge". I asked the manager what service we were given and her response was that we sat together. This is a total self service establishment. There is no service! The food is good, but when two groups go in (12 minutes apart) and sit at one table, they add extra charges to your bill without your knowledge.....TOTAL SCAM! They should be ashamed! They just lost a good customer! Bubba's - are you willing to refund or give credit of $14.48?
I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant and I was craving BBQ. That is all I had to eat that day bc shortly after eating the BBQ plate, I became violently ill! Straight food poisoning! Very rough couple days for me and the really sad part is, I paid to get sick!
I had a 3 meat sampler with Mac and cheese, beans and cherry cobbler. The chicken was BAD. The Mac and cheese were BAD. The barbecue beans were BAD.
They pre-chop their brisket. Ordered a kids chopped plate, the lady scooped it out of a warmer already chopped. As you can imagine, it was as dry as the desert sand. The pork was also pre-pulled and dry. Never got the drink with the kids meal. Just all in all, a bad experience. Won't be back.
I am sorry but the ribs were dry no meat, the chopped beef sandwich was dry old , don't get me wrong the place was clean. I do not recommend this place.
Cold food. I wasted my time and money stopping here. Brisket was mildly warm and so was the corn. The mashed potatoes actually had cold spots in them and the gravy wasn't hot. Overall a waste of money.
