The school is a good choice but Make sure you are your own advocate. Counselor had me taking classes we found out I never needed, waisted a semester of time and money taking prerequisites I already qualified for. Also make sure CLCs or any College major is truly applicable in the real world the professors were great but unfortunately CRJ has zero use even in law enforcement. If you plan on going into the corporate world doing anything, just get a business degree. If not learn a hands on skill.
Three years ago, during my senior year of high school, I was debating whether to stay close to home and attend CLC or take the leap directly into a 4-year university. I’m so happy I chose to be a Lancer! Of all the colleges I’ve visited, including my current university, I’ve never felt more at home than here. No other school is as welcoming, flexible, and supportive. Even though I’m now at the University of Illinois, I still miss my days at CLC. If you’re ever unsure about your future, you’ll definitely find a place at this wonderful institution that I’m proud to have been a part of. My only regret is that I couldn’t earn my Bachelor’s here as well!
This school is simply Exceptional! I'm performing for a play production and their staff is very professional plus friendly... 🎹🎶😎
Good Community college, They have programs that prepare you for careers and/or to transfer to a solid 4 year program seamlessly. I have had fantastic counselours and mentors along the way here.
Studied there for 2 years and loved every part of it. It was an affordable college with kind instructors and great environment.
Solo Piano Recital by Constance Whitney pianist. Preformed in a multi-layered studio was most beautifully performed. Ms Whitney is a music teacher, accompanies the choirs at CLC as well as teaches privately
I've been a student for nearly 3 years and it's been a very pleasant experience! The education staff are very kind and diverse, and it's a good place to be when you're fresh out of high school and unsure of your major. There's so many free or cheap resources for those who need it that is included in tuition! Even if you're coming here to learn another skill, I'd say it is affordable and worth it.
The College of Lake County is a pretty great school. The campus is comfortable and it's easy to get around. The teachers are mostly good, but it's always a good idea to look them up before signing up for a class. Overall, the school is a solid choice for anyone looking for a good education without breaking the bank. For community colleges, CLC sets the bar very high!
Got my highlights and a cut at the technical campus cosmetology department. An amazing job and an amazing price. Students do a wonderful job and are completely supervised. I have been doing my hair here for years and never had a bad experience. Also great professional products are used as well. I highly recommend!
Awesome college. professors are very friendly. They understand your situation and are willing to help you anytime. There were many assignments provided to help us better understand the material. Tests and quizzes were straight forward.
This is a great community college with lot of free classes like GED, ESL etc, also certification in forklift etc I went here for a pharmacy technician certification really inexpensive pay in increments on my credit card, they also register with the ptcb so you can take the test, great college and very safe.
I have spent 6 semesters at CLC. I loved it! The professors are great some better then others but overall they are all good. The school has a great atmosphere and theres always an event. Job fairs, craft fairs, exam week. They give you all the tools you need to succeed. My daughter has been at the CLC daycare for the last two semesters and I can’t begin to explain how amazing her experience there was. I highly recommend this school. I am sad to go, I’m a military family and our orders are up. So if your looking for a school GO HERE you won’t regret it plus it’s affordable.
The new CLC remodel looks great, modern, lots of light, very clean and inviting. Many areas to study. I'm happy they littered the place with chairs and tables. Feels a lot like an University. In fact it's even better than the University I transferred to. The place has security as well, which is nice. Everyone is just so nice as well, holding doors open regardless of who you are. Parking lots always have room even when busy. The place is more inviting than it ever was. I hope they remodel the upstairs library as well.
I currently attend this community college and think it's great. Practically everything, and I mean it, is a learning experience. You get a good education and most of the students, if not all, are pretty mature. Considering they exceed the age group I'm use to being around in an academic environment. Also, the assignments are challenging, but interesting, and if you work hard enough, you can receive a good grade. It's definitely possible to fail, regardless of how smart you are or what your grades were in previous school years. So put your effort into it, and do the best you can! As for the people, they're nice, and are great persons to be around, I have no problems with them. Overall, CLC is a great college that seems to operate like the "adult world," meaning it'll do things such as teach you responsibility. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Although their experience may not be like mine, and they'll have to conjure their own judgment(s); but I think it's still worth checking out! ( Note: You don't have to attend. If you feel it's worth the try though, go for it. See how much you like it. Just because I recommend it, doesn't mean you have to go to any campus )
Reviewing the campus as a visitor. The campus is accessible from multiple main roads , and there are signs to get to the campus on all entrances. But the signs within the campus to different wings and entrances are not large enough and poorly lit. Even the entrance markings are not legible from the parking lot or roads making navigation of campus very stressful. The campus is organized well and interiors is beautiful and well maintained. The auditorium is decent.
I LOVED GOING HERE. I got a full-time job and starting to go to the University Center in January. The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because, when I started, I went to the advisers to see what classes I needed to start and such; and they told me classes that I didn't need. They told me they will "help" in the long run. After that I went to my professors and they were GREAT. Told me everything I needed to graduate. Overall, GREAT community college.
Nice installations, clean and comfortable seating. Academic competence is not considered in this review.
It's a nice college. Definitely nicer than some of the other community colleges. However, the book system is absolutely ridiculous. All of the classes' books are set up so you HAVE to buy it from clc. Then, they charge ridiculous prices. My sister is taking 5 classes at Loyola and I'm taking 4 classes. My books were about 200$ more. They don't seem to care that the main reason people go to a community college is price. A little annoyed on how they have a monopoly on the books and the students can do very little about it.
The website is incredibly not user friendly & frustrating. Organization as a whole so far has been completely unorganized. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Constantly referred to incorrect departments/people, provided incorrect information on a regular basis. A few friendly & helpful staff - hence a 2 instead of a 1. Can only hope it gets better - here’s to hoping! :) I will update once classes start, if my experience gets better. :)
Some decent professors and advising/counseling staff, but they are shady with their fees and pricing (I guess that's a result of the state budget, so they try and make up for it on your end). Make sure you withdraw properly because they will still charge you for class if you do not--classes that you never attended. I would not go back to this school based on the amount of money I was charged for a semester I did not attend.
Unable to enroll, they make you wait hours or days to talk to a real human, good luck actually taking any classes if you can actually enroll into anything.
When I first started taking classes here a handful of years ago & up until i had to stop going for a few semesters due to extenuating circumstances I had no complaints. Trying to return however has been an absolutely demoralizing experience. Over the last 3 months I've signed & completed over 8 separate forms (several twice), had 3 separate meetings of over an hour each at the college in person with staff meant to help you with financial aid, got emails saying my financial aid appeal & signup were both completed successfully only to get an email 2 weeks later for no reason saying it wasn't successful. I'm even getting emails from the one stop center employees that I need to fill out a form I LITERALLY HANDED TO THEM IN PERSON ALMOST A WEEK AGO! I even spent 15 minutes with one guy at the desk to make SURE everything was correct. I regret giving my signature to that payment plan, I feel I'm being scammed & taken advantage of. No idea if the professors are all as awesome as they used to be because the financial aid office has become so useless, outright detrimental, obstructive, & just plain wrong in every way that it's actually impossible to even attend a single class because despite making a payment plan for everything & signing EVERYTHING they are still telling me I didn't do the very forms & financial agreements I've spent the last 3 months doing. Shameful
